View 6 RepliesI have a dedicated server, and WHM cPanel
I have a registered domain with oneandone (mydomain)
So what I want is nameservers, ns1.mydomain.com and ns2.mydomain.com when people are viewing any of the sites on my server.
Basically i need to know, step by step on how to, do this, please I have read all the guides but they dont say exactly how oneandone point to my server, I think I have done most stuff on the server side.
So I want a site mydomain2.com they can change their nameservers to ns1.mydomain.com and ns2.mydomain.com and it links to my server.
I think i have only 1 IP with my dediated server.

how install vmware in my server?
because now we install vmware but it seems have wrong configuration in network setup then,
we have 7 Ip address i want make connection vps with bridging!
Just signed up for Knownhost VPS and have 3 sites (all on individual shared hosting) that I want to setup but I'm having a hell of a time trying to figure things out.
I've read the entire directadmin (site-helper.com) but still having trouble setting things up. I know what all the terms mean but i'm stuck on how to setup the DNS, what suppose to point to what, creating 3 individual accounts for the 3 sites, etc.
Just got a new dedicated box (Fedora 5/CPanel/WHM). I didn't realize I had to set up my own nameservers with it. Definitely not a subject I am well versed in. Anyone know where I can find out how to get started?
View 9 Replies View Relatedis it possible to use one IP address for both name servers. For Example
ns1.yourdomain.com - 193.174.32.18
ns2.yourdomain.com - 193.174.32.18
I have the domain name "www.citedata.net"
With this domain name, I registered the nameservers:
"ns1.citedata.net" >> 208.109.30.9
"ns2.citedata.net" >> 208.109.30.11
I am using Plesk 8.1 and here is how I had setup the DNS information in the Plesk control panel:
PHP Code:
208.109.30.9 / 24 PTR citedata.net.citedata.net. NS ns1.citedata.net.citedata.net. NS ns2.citedata.net.citedata.net. A 208.109.30.9citedata.net. MX (10) mail.citedata.net.ftp.citedata.net. CNAME citedata.net.mail.citedata.net. A 208.109.30.9ns1.citedata.net. A 208.109.30.9ns2.citedata.net. A 208.109.30.11srv01.citedata.net. A 208.109.30.9webmail.citedata.net. A 208.109.30.9www.citedata.net. CNAME citedata.net.
On the same VPS I then have the domain name "www.citemedia.ca" registered, and it points to the namesevers "ns1.citedata.net" and "ns2.citedata.net".
The DNS setup in Plesk for this domain looks like this:
PHP Code:
208.109.30.9 / 24 PTR citemedia.ca.citemedia.ca. NS ns1.citedata.net.citemedia.ca. NS ns2.citedata.net.citemedia.ca. A 208.109.30.9citemedia.ca. MX (10) mail.citemedia.ca.ftp.citemedia.ca. CNAME citemedia.ca.lists.citemedia.ca. CNAME citemedia.ca.mail.citemedia.ca. A 208.109.30.9webmail.citemedia.ca. A 208.109.30.9www.citemedia.ca. CNAME citemedia.ca.
However, when I run a DNS report on the domain www.citemedia.ca, I get an error, AND my website is not accessable via. HTTP right now (check it out).
Here is the DNS report: [url]
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what is done wrong with my DNS setup?
also, www.citemedia.ca is using a shared IP address (208.109.30.9).
how to set up nameservers on my server? I have WHM cpanel.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI currently have two sets of nameservers on my box.
ns1.defaultnameservers.com
ns2.defaultnameservers.com
and
ns1.secondnameservers.com
ns2.secondnameservers.com
However when I go to setup a new account in WHM, the nameservers are always set to the default ones.
How can I select the second set of nameservers to be used on a new account?
I have a VPS plan with DirectAdmin and 3 IPs and I wanted to setup private nameservers for two reseller accounts on my plan.
I have the first IP assigned to the server and the other two as the nameservers for my vps.
So with no free IPs, how would I setup private nameservers for my two reseller accounts? Add six IPs (one for each account and two for nameservers for each) or is there a way to use the three I have to setup my resellers?
I have recently just purchased an unmanaged vps from poundhost. I have never used a vps before so we shelled out for a WHM control panel! The issue now is that we do not have a nameserver set up or any main domain to use as a nameserver.
We have the main IP address and two additional IP's given to us by poundhost, how do I use these to start hosting and managing websites?
I have several servers and i want to provide at my servers a continuos backup data protection and disaster recovery backups to a off-site location using R1Soft software.

I need to host livezilla (live chat software) . It needs php and mysql. Which host provider would you recommend? Its not running from my own server. I don't know why, but giving so many errors! I have seen people are using it ..
so, where do i host livezilla?
what can make site load faster other than replication
(well lets assume that design wise it is ok and doesnt content heavy contents...)
i have heard that increasing networking speed at the server level can make site much faster...
is it true..?
is there any tweak bandwidth wise...
suppose we get 1tb bandwidth per month compared to 100gb ...
will that make site faster...
we want to host a photogalley site...which is fast or images are shown in faster way....
I've made a how to, based on my personal knowledge about upgrading a CentOS 3, RedHat 9, or 8?, Fedora Core, and maybe others, to the new CentOS 4.5 OS. (or CentOS 4.x)

Please post, comments, questions, etc. here.
I've myself upgraded many servers this way, (even, tonight, I upgraded another, so I finally decided to do this with all my notes)
Ive been recieving some complaints/feedback that the download speed on my site is too slow.
I test it myself and at night i download at about 60k/s, late at night, mornings its around 300kb/s
Im guessing my site is basically getting high traffic and load issues in the evenings. (average daily bandwidth is around 200-300gb)
So basically i need to rectify this pronto.
What are the possible solutions?
i thought if i bought a second cheaper server that could step in when the load gets too much for my primary server this could help out the speeds.
Am i correct, are there cheaper ways of speeding things up?
This may be a severely basic question, but my knowledge of this type of thing is quite limited.
My firm recently purchased a domain name and we have hosting capabilities on our own server. How do I set up the site so that I can publish directly to the domain from MS Visual Web Developer?
The domain is ca-education.com,
I have a VPS and I am using LXAdmin. What I want to do is that if I type the IP of my VPS in my browser it would show my main Website and not the page of LXAdmin saying that the IP address or domain is not yet setup.

I have a web server running Server 2003 and IIS6. I can access everything fine via IP. Now I want to have a domain name work with it.
The server is in a .local domain environment. Does anyone have any info on how I should setup DNS for the web server if the domain itself is not getting any DNS info from the outside?
Is it just a matter of adding new A and NS records or do I need to be in a FQDN domain for it to work?
I am selling e-book on howtolearnmath.com
Currently I am using ebookpro.com
If I use PDF, how can I know others won't just download my e-book for free?
I currently have a mirror site set-up on a seperate server (with a seperate web hosting company) for risk management purposes.
For zero downtime dependability, a load balancer cluster checking both servers in real time, and directing traffic at only servers that were online has been suggested.
However this option is rather expensive. Does anyone know of any other options?

Trying to set Default Site for a Dedicated IP Address.
I go to Subscription, then to domain > Change Hosting Settings, select dedicated IP address and OK, works fine. Site goes to Default Plesk Page.
Go to Tools & Settings, IP Addresses > Select the dedicated IP address I set above. Change Default Site to site above. Click Ok.
I get the error message above and nothing changes.
I looked on my IIS Server and MailEnable's Webmail is installed under the Default Website.
I have another Dedicated IP on this server and it has a default site on it working properly, but it was set up on the old site and it was configured as part of the Migration using Migration Manager.
I tried deleting the IP address and adding it back in. That didn't change anything. I also tried running: "%plesk_bin%websrvmng.exe" –reconfigure-webmail since that came up under someone else's issue when searching the web and that .exe is what's throwing the error.
First I want to say hello and thanks for the great advice I've gotten on this forum. You guys have saved me a ton of time and heartache in regards to hosting accounts.
I was told by my hosting company that a VPS account isn't designed to be an step up from a shared account. I always viewed a VPS account as the intermediary between shared and dedicated. The hosting company basically told me that a VPS server is designed as a testing environment and you can run out of resources pretty quickly in a production environment.
Is that true? Or are they telling stories?
Will the nameservers work if the nameservers are pointed to a parking page?
For example:
I need to change my nameservers to ns1.mywebhost.com and ns2.mywebhost.com
(nameservers are made up)
These nameservers are from my web hosting service provider. When I visit the nameservers, it shows up a parking page from a domain parking service (let's say NameDrive parking page)
Will the nameservers function correctly and will my websites work? I have this question because usually the nameservers that I use, they always point to a CP page or something like that rather than a parking page.
