Monitoring Software To Monitor All My Linux VPS/Servers
Jul 8, 2008
I searched but I haven't found anything. I need a server/client software to monitor all my Linux VPS/Servers. Do you know anything easy to use and install. I want to have a main server that verifys all the others.
What does everyone use to monitor their servers? I've come across a pretty impressive service from Panopta but haven't head of them before. Has anyone tried them out?
We are interested in launching a site dedicated to monitoring webservers and would like to know if there is a ready made solution for that. I know there are many tools like nagios, BB, cacti but what Im looking for is a program that is ready to be setup and will enable us to offer the same services offered by siteuptime.com, websitepulse.com, alertra...
Is there a really good software besides nagios for windows and linux?
I need a tool, even if commercial where I can install and will monitor every aspect of my local and remote network, linux and windows. Nagios is good but I was hoping for something more commercial that lets me monitor disk space, up time, security, processes, etc, etc.
i have the need to be able to have a monitoring software that could check and monitor the status of my diferent servers and vps hosting accounts. So when a server goes down i can have a report of wich component of the server failed, so i can identify faster, server problems.
The software sould also check the most number of server features, like:
FTP DNS APACHE DOMAINS PING DATABASES ETC
In a simple way, wich are the best programs to make this job done.
im willing to pay for a professional, simple, and reliable software.
What's the best solution web-based that I can install on a server to monitor a group of servers, services, bandwidth etc.. I'm thinking of offering a service where for a monthly price we'll monitor your server(s) and notify the data center or client of outages. So I'm looking for something that I can create clients then under them enter servers and items to monitor. Kinda like a NOC monitoring solution?
I spent a lot of time trying to not have alarm messages into spam folder.
already added address to my contacts already mark it as important already changed sender email... but
Plesk where take email for Alarm Message?
Because I changed email (external) with 1 internal, but update alert arrive with administrator email and now is not going to spam, but alarm email arrive with old email (external, that is marked as pishing) ....
i can't seem to get access to the health monitor in power user mode. As my plesk license was "upgraded" from a usual 11.x 10 Domains-License to new WebAdmin Package, i can't choose service provider view anymore. How can i get access to the health monitor now?
Are there and decent tools that you use to keep an "eye" on your server to lookout for hardware issues?
E.g., it would be nice to get an automated email sent if a server's temperature went above X or if S.M.A.R.T. errors were detected with a hardrive, etc.
I just installed the Health Monitor add-on in a brand new Plesk 11.5.30 on CentOS 6.4 but all that it's area in Plesk displays is this funky looking error:
{"status":"error","statusMessages":[{"status":"error","class":"","content":"Unable to load configuration file.Click to expand...
I have a one problem in my server . I use in Parallels Plesk v12.0.18_build1200140606.15 os_CentOS 6 I vps in systemOS CentOS6.6 Final Minimal and installing plesk health monitor show error in :
{"status":"error","statusMessages":[{"status":"error","class":"","content":"Unable to load configuration file.
I have bought an Intel SR2500LX server chassis with a S5000PAL mainboard running Centos. This system has an active backplane with a LSI MegaRaid chipset.
I'd like to be notified in the case of a drive failure but I'm totally stumped on how to get any monitoring working.
The only raid managment utility Intel supplies is a Java based monstrosity, which needs X-Windows to run and needs to be run continuously in order for the email notification to work.
Web based management can only be used from the same subnet as the server, so that's not very useful either.
I've contacted Intel support which gave me the advice to reboot the server and use the Bios utility if I want to check the Raid arrays consistency . Needless to say I'm very dissapointed, this server has every redundancy feature you can think of but it seems impossible to monitor the Raid under Linux.
Does anybody have experience with the Chassis and Raid monitoring under Linux?
I'm asking if there is a server monitoring tool that has easy install steps for Parallels Plesk 12.0.18 Upd #36 or any guide since my server is running slow and I need to collect some data in order to fix the issue.
I've tried Munin on my own but got this error during install process:
Transaction Check Error:
file /usr/share/man/man3/XML::SAX::Base.3pm.gz conflicts between attempted installs of perl-XML-SAX-0.96-7.el6.noarch and perl-XML-SAX-Base-1.04-1.el6.rf.noarch file /usr/share/man/man3/XML::SAX::Exception.3pm.gz conflicts between attempted installs of perl-XML-SAX-0.96-7.el6.noarch and perl-XML-SAX-Base-1.04-1.el6.rf.noarch
I have an AMD Sempron(tm) Processor 3000+ machine thats running Linux - CentOS.
I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good server/hardware monitoring script or app that will allow monitoring of the following items in real time. Also I'd like to log and view the historical data. A script that stores this data in mysql database would be ideal.
Processor Temperature Hard Drive(s) Temperature Ram Usage - Overall Ram Usage for each running Process/Service CPU Usage - Overall CPU Usage for each running Process/Service
I have been a user of sitepoint for quite a while now. I am developing software applications at present and keep bumping my head into the same old question.
Which is better, Linux or Windows servers. (Probably a question which depends on what they are used for of course.) In this case, they would be used to store a database for the application and therefore communicate with it etc.
The choice is, do I develop the application in .net and use windows or do I go down the PHP route and use Linux.
This is the options that have been explained to me, of course I am not a developer myself so am just hearing the advice I am told.
This question, and many questions relating to this I am sure must have reasoning behind it. It basicly relates down to the following;
Why do game servers use up more CPU on Linux, opposed to Windows?
Some people say it doesnt, and that is true for some games, but most games I have found, the CPU usage of the game on a Linux based server is far higher.
Just as an example, most Steam games.
I really would like to know why, and how it could be reduced. What are some things I can install, or configure to make game servers run more smoothly or use less CPU on Linux?
If anyone has any ideas & thoughts related to this, please let me/us know, for im sure this is beneficial to all.
We were reported of several websites hosted on our Linux Servers showing virus alerts. Our investigations have revealed that these alerts are due to an injection attack on packages hosted on our servers. The FTP logs of the infected packages indicate that the machines of the customers who own those domains are compromised and have been used to upload malicious content to their respective hosting packages.
What is a Gumblar Attack?
Gumblar appears to be a combination of exploit scripts and malware. The scripts are embedded in .html, .js and .php files using obfuscated Javascript. They load malware content from third party sites without the user's knowledge. It also steals FTP credentials from the victim's computer, which allows it to spread and infect additional sites. Therefore, when someone visits an infected site they get infected and if they have FTP credentials for a website on their machine then those sites will get infected too. This explains the exponential growth of the exploit in such a short space of time.
What makes it different from previous malware exploits?
There are a number of aspects to this exploit that both make it difficult to remove and help it spread. Firstly, it is infecting users who are browsing legitimate websites, if these users are webmasters then it is infecting their websites by using their FTP credentials to inject the script onto their site. The obfuscated malicious code is dynamically generated. This makes it difficult to detect and difficult to automatically remove. Not only does the script vary from site to site but it can also vary from page to page on the one site. Further Read: - http://tinyurl.com/m23ncu - http://news.cnet.com/8301-1009_3-10244529-83.html
What have we done?
As a precautionary measure, we have temporarily blocked FTP services on our Linux Hosting Servers. This will prevent infection of any other hosting packages. We are in the process of removing malicious content from every package that was infected as a result of this. However if we re-establish FTP connections your clients will re-infect their respective hosting packages since their machines are likely compromised.
What we are doing?
We will be shifting to a secure FTP connection and resetting everyone's FTP passwords across all Linux Hosting packages. You can later on modify these passwords from your website management panel. You should ideally warn your customers about this worm and ask them to scan their machines given its exponential spread so far.
Does anyone know if running centOS 5.2 as a host OS on a dedicated server would be able to run both Linux and Windows VPS servers using virtuozzo? on their video it says you can however i cant find where/how to install a windows server 2003 template.
how do I go about creating the same user with the same id on different linux boxes so when i share a mount folder, it has the permission to write and read properly?
is it possible to merge different PLESK-servers to a new one? If I just use the migration-tool there are many errors because of the double-use of the databases (created by plesk-application-manager).
At my company we have running some Helm 3/4 servers and we've installed a new server with Plesk 12 for testing.Do you know a good way to migrate these servers (more than 6) to Plesk 12?.Helm is bringing to me a lot of problems and also servers must be renewed.
How do I go about adding new whois servers in my linux box so that the "whois" command can work for those domains? I notice I can't get any .me information now.
