Apache :: Mamp And Local Wordpress Install Not Working
Feb 11, 2013
I can't get MAMP to work. I sadly uninstalled and AppZapped MAMP and reinstalled it. Now I can't get WordPress to install. I can make a DB on PHP MyAdmin but I get "not found" when I try the WordPress install. I can't get the PHP info? line to work either. How do you troubleshoot MAMP?
Im having a problem where local authentication will not work when when the configured LDAP server is unavailble. When the ldap server is online I can authenticate fine against ldap and local file. However, when the ldap server is offline, I cannot authenticate with the user1 account. The browser just sits at a blank screen.
Ive searched a lot on this and found many examples, all very similar to my config below, but I still cannot failback authentication to local file when ldap is unavailable. Im running Apache/2.2.10. I have also tested this on 2.2.16 with the same results.
I'm trying to accomplish two goals: First, get "Pretty Links" to work on my local Wordpress instance; second, to set up a local domain for the site.I have a fresh install of Apache 2.4.6 running, and I'll I've done is enable the rewrite and vhost_alias mods. Nevertheless, here's my apache2.conf: URL....
I need to have AllowOverride set to All. This, I gather, allows .htaccess files within the subsequent directories to alter the apache config. To try one thing at a time, I'm accessing the site from localhost/var/www/dhae/Wordpress (foregoing the domain). I tried altering the 000-default.conf to oblige this: [URL] .... -- all I added was the <Directory> section. This didn't work, and neither did changing the AllowOverride to All in the apache2.conf.
I wondered if perhaps I needed something more specific to the directory, so I tried using my second goal to accomplish this. I wrote the dhae.conf: URL....
I've also added the following line to my HOSTS file:127.0.0.1 dhae.dev
This hasn't worked either. I've tried virtual host config stuff as much as I could find, and I'm just not having any luck. What I have even came from this site (URL....).
I was disappointed to discover how difficult it is to set up PHP, MySQL and virtual hosts on my MacBook Pro. I finally hired a computer science student to do it for me - but even he screwed it up.
Then I discovered a preconfigured packaged called MAMP. I downloaded the free version and now have Apache, PHP, MySQL and phpMyAdmin up and running. That still leaves the biggest obstacle of all - creating virtual hosts.
I checked out the MAMP Pro version ($50) at [url]and read "You can set up many virtual hosts."
That doesn't make sense to me; shouldn't you be able to set up many virtual hosts even with the free version of MAMP? Or does MAMP somehow make it EASIER to create virtual hosts, and the Pro version simply allows you to make many of these simplified virtual hosts? If MAMP Pro does indeed make it easy to create virtual hosts, then I'll purchase it immediately.
I'd be interested in other comments about MAMP. Unfortunately, its support forums are awfully lame; that's why I decided to post my questions here.
wasn't sure if this should go into "technical" or "programming" but I figure someone here will instantly be able to tell me...
(details: I'm on a shared host with cpanel and centos 3)
My hosting service techs refuse to update gnu TAR on the server even though it's several years old at 1.13 and has some know bugs that are annoying for complex calls - (basically the techs use any request like this to try to upsell me to dedicated or VPS which I don't need at my low level)
So I'd like to install a "local" copy of the newer gnu 1.14 or 1.15 TAR (which I *think* is possible?) into my account and have it run instead of the shared copy?
Unfortunately this is beyond my knowledge so thanks for any help in the right direction...
i installed xampplite and wordpress in it. my default theme is working properly in my local host. and its not working in my server. am using byet host free server. can anybody help me how to install word press in my server. i already all the files inside wordpress to my server......
i upload all files ioncube in /user/local/ioncube and go to user/local/Zend/php.ini and in end add zend_extension = /usr/local/ioncube/ioncube_loader_lin_5.2.so
I have setup a new account through a reseller that supplies a shared IP. The way I have installed WordPress in the past is to use "localhost" as the MySQL database host name.
The problem is that I want to complete the installation and style the site before I transfer the domain name and propagate the DNS settings. I am currently receiving errors that say "Error establishing a database connection".
I have also tried several variations of the shared IP address in place of the "localhost". So instead of using "localhost" I have tried using the link if I were to preview the site, for example [url]
Can someone tell me if it is possible to replace the string entry of "localhost" with a number or something else so that I can complete the installation of WordPress?
After a recent update (4.2.1) for Wordpress all of our sites showed issues when editing a page the "Visual editor" would not be available any more.
You would only see nothing where normally html text or WYSIWYG is supposed to appear. Text in editor window has the same color (white) as background (white).
I'm curious if others had same issue?
-- it's affected all websites -- it's not plugin related -- fresh websites with twentytwelve and hello world page have same issue -- disabled mod (did not work)

Did a fresh WordPress install on a subscription. I was able to install new plugins via WordPress, and directly upload a theme file without any issues. However, when I tried to use the WordPress import too (uploading an 11MB XML file) I received an Internal Server Error, which brought the entire site down. No part of the WordPress site is accessible. Odd.
Checked the Plesk log - no errors there.Nothing in the IIS logs that shows an error either. When looking at the domain's logs, I see the 500 entry logged, but don't see any sort of reason for it having happened, to be able to resolve:
how to install older version of WordPress - version 3.7 has just come out and it is the only version I can install via the Plesk panel but unfortunately half of the themes out there only support up to 3.6
Window server 2012 r2: I installed wordpress on a domain using plesk. Seemed to work correctly. But when I went to the site www.example.com/wp-admin, the native or default wordpress install started up. I could find no way to bypass this, so I just re-entered all the same settings.
The result was that I ended up with 2 sets of database tables, one set named with my chosen prefix wp_blahblah_ and one set prefixed with wp_blahblah_wp_.
Not good, so I deleted the later set. Wordpress seems to be working, despite one error on the tables I can't reproduce.
I create a new domain then use Plesk Applications tab to install Wordpress. It shows the message:
Code: Error: Unable to install the app because its installation requirements are not met. Contact your hosting provider to resolve this problem. Requirements PHP extension The 'mysql' extension was not found.
However, php is installed and phpinfo shows that the mysql extension is installed. I try different versions of php, cgi/fastcgi but ll fail with the same error. I install Wordpress via FTP and it works fine.
There are knowledge-base articles relating to this error but they are for Linux and the solutions don't work in this case:
[URL] ... [URL] ...
Maybe the Wordpress database has to be created before using Plesk to install Wordpress? If so, what should the database name be? How does Plesk know what the name of the database is that it should use? Why doesn't Plesk just create a database to use?
I will have or not problems, (plesk compatibility) with this tool: URL....URL-Rewrite...I need install ModRewrite to use "Permanent Links" with some scripts like "Wordpress". I have try search on the web any alternative, and i found this.
I like know if this "URL-Rewrite" from Microsoft will cause me or not problems with my Plesk 11.5.Additional i like know, if i can create a file "web.config" and this file will accept all my custom configurations?.For example to activate the URL-Rewrite on a Wordpress Install:
If a Plesk admin wants to install Wordpress, the installation always fails.
1. Select Server Management -> Tools & Settings -> Security -> Security Policy 2. Select (*) Very strong 3. Confirm with OK 4. Select Hosting Services -> Domains 2. Select Domain 3. Select Button Install Apps 4. Select Wordpress in All Available Applications 5. Select Install 6. Error message is shown! Error: Installation of WordPress at http://lyl-canbys.de/blog failed. Your password is not complex enough. According to the server policy, the minimal password strength is Very strong. To improve the password strength, use numbers, upper and lower-case characters, and special characters like !,@,#,$,%,^,&,*,?,_,~
But the password was complex enough. with 20 numbers+charcters+special chars!
I i lower Plesks Security Policy to (*) Strong, the Wordpress installation works. But lowering Security with password length 8 is not desireable.
This is a totally fresh install. I noticed bind was not running so I went to do a restart in WHM and I get the following error..
named has failed, please contact the sysadmin (result was "named is not running"). Jun 5 14:19:14 dts131 named: /etc/named.conf:65: open: /var/named/named.rfc1912.zones: file not found
I found a socket available other than 80 which would not allow me to use. I set it in the conf file as 1800 and then go to apache/bin directory and load httpd.exe. When I go to the browser, I have to type in http://localhost:1800 for it to work once. If I close the browser and try again, or I try a php file, it says it can't find localhost. I have to stop httpd.exe and reload, then it will work once.
Do I have to find a way to use socket 80 for it to work?
I had a HDD crash recently on my Root Server. Replaced HDDs, installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, since Ubuntu 14.04 LTS is not supported by Plesk yet. Anyway...
I had 2 issues:
1) Could not create Customers, because IP Pool was empty. Changed IP Type from Dedicated to Shared. Fixed issue. 2) Cannot connect to the FTP Server using the Login Data from one of my Domains.
FlashFXP and FileZilla both show the same error, which is:
Code: Response:220 ProFTPD 1.3.4c Server (ProFTPD) [*ip removed*] Command:USER *user removed* Response:331 Password required for *user removed* Command:PASS ************** Response:530 Login incorrect. Error:Critical error Error:Could not connect to server
It seems with the latest version of 2.2.24 I've had to change the ProxyPass address in http-virtualhosts to the actual address of the web server itself (Websphere / tomcat) and not the reversproxy (Apache). It seems like originally we had it looking like this more or less: ProxyPass / ajp://localhost:8009 but now have ProxyPass / ajp://webserverip:8009 and it's working that way. Which way is correct and if this isn't the correct way how do I fix this? I was getting 503 errors when it was connected to localhost (along with ajp errors) but I was able to telnet to the webserver on 8009 successfully.
to the httpd-manual.conf to enable access by other machines on my network but it seems to be hard coded to localhost only.
Is there something else I can add to httpd-manual.conf to enable it or do I need to copy manual folder to the htdocs folder and then restrict that <Directory> ?
