Free Email - Lot Of Space And Email Boxes Involved
Feb 13, 2007
One of my customers asked me if is possible technically to offer free email services.
Since he's going to launch a big portal he want to offer such things later, for all users.
Now, there are problems as:
a) if there is any possibility to compress emails similar with GMAIL or YahooMail or so, because i can't imagine the email is uncompressed
b) how can be handled email boxes over multiple (mail ?) servers if the HDD space needed would be larger than for one server HDD ?
I ever seen a large mailbox be reliable, but now I have one that's mine and I have 8000 messages and 1.2gb. I can't even log into Horde webmail, if I use NeoMail its very slow, it takes 1 or 2 minutes to delete 100 messages or empty the trash. So I tried to setup the email account in Thunderbird and it times out. When I use POP3 thunderbird says it timed out but on the server I can still see the CPOP process for that user and it says it authenticating, if I try again to access it it says the mailbox lock is on, if I remove the lock same thing, no way to access it.
So any advise on how to access this large mailbox, perhaps there is a way to increase the timeouts?
Also whenever I try to do anything with the mailbox it increases the server load, from .20 or so it goes to 1, 2 even 3+
Does anyone know if there is a company or a program that would allow me to setup free email for users using my domain name? Say if I wanted to be my own gmail or hotmail - maybe on a much smaller scale at first?
I want a Email Plugin for cPanel that can tell me how many email is sent (per user) and some other usefull info.
i have CMQ (Configserver Mail Qeue) but i have seen another free plugin on a server that i can not remember the name of the Plugin and i just remember that there was something like A-SAT in its name.
Most of our fraudulent transactions come via sign-ups with free email accounts such as yahoo, gmail and hotmail. Is anyone aware of a system which will prevent customers using these email addresses (or other free ones) for hosting plan sign-ups?
I have a contact form using .php to forward the contents of the form to my email-ad, but turns out, that something i cant do with my free hosting plan.
i was wondering if anyone knew any services (free) that allow mail forwarding where i can host my .php script together with all associated files and simply link to them from my site?
that would be great! thanks!
(not sure where exactly this post belongs, but it's got something to do with my hosting so im posting it here. if any mods think it should be somewhere else, just move it to where you feel it is appropriate )
I have a customer on a 250MB hosting plan and has been using approximately 450MB for the past few days but hasn't received a resource overuse email.
In my notifications I have "Resource usage limits exceeded by subscription" set to send myself and the customer an email but neither of us have received anything.
I have a busy dating website with 30 000 registered users and ~200-600 users online all the time. I would like to offer free email with ~10 MB mailbox to all users.
I have an idea to use scripts provided by b1gmail.de. Its similar to Hivemail or Socketmail. It uses only one POP3 catch-all mailbox and stores all emails in MySQL database, including attachments.
My worries are about MySQL. If I have 30 000 users and each user has some 5000 messages in his/her mailbox: 30 000 x 5 000 = 150 000000
That's 150 million rows in one table!
I know, not all users will have 50000 messages in their mailboxes, but the number of users increases about +2000/month.
I can't imaggine how long time will need MySQL to find messages for each user in the table with 150 000000 rows.
I don't know - maybe it's not a problem at all. I just never had such large tables and I don't know if it's possible at all.
Another problem: I have Fedora Core 2 installed and even don't know yet if it supports files larger than 2 GB.
Maybe it's better to set-up normal POP3 mailboxes for all users instead of using one catch-all box and storing data in MySQL?
do not post warnings about spammers. In the beginning I'll provide email addresses only to "gold" members. I opened this thread because I don't want to set-up a system which will hang after a couple of months because MySQL will not be able to handle it or I will have other unknown problems.
I'm having difficulty sending an email to another email address (with a different domain) which is on the same VPS.The trouble is, on the other domain's VPS control panel, within the DNS settings, the MX records have been pointed externally (to an exchange server). Their email is turned off. But bizarrely, their mailbox is full.
It seems as though Plesk is ignoring the MX records, and sending MY email internally to the OTHER domain's mailbox on the same VPS.How do I get Plesk to send my mail to the correct EXTERNAL MX records?
I have a dedicated server with 80 GB H.D.D and host one site, this site have about 11GB files and about 10GB data base but every time I check the free space of my hard , the disk is full! what's the problem?
I have problem with free space on one partition. After deleting files on about 10GB "df" still shows about 100% used but when I count files by "du" then it show correct value. Where's the problem and how fix it ?
root@alfa [~]# du -sh /usr 9.1G /usr
root@alfa [~]# df -h /usr Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on /dev/sdb3 20G 19G 0 100% /usr
I am having an email issue and I can not resolve. I am hoping for some assisstance here.
One of my local clients are not able to email each other in their office. (About 10 employess I believe)
They are using Outlook mail client, and using ISP's SMTP server. They are able to send/recieve email to other users externally, but not intenally.
Using webmail works perfectly fine.
I spoke with my host and the said everything is working fine. I checked with the ISP to see if they are blocking the IP address on the SMTP server. They said they were not.
I have a personal account on the same server and tried to send email to another local email account, and it did not work either. Tried to send email to my clients email and they did not recieve anything.
I am on the same ISP as my client, so Im still not sure if its the ISP or not.
I setup mail piping with Exim so that e-mails sent to a specific account be forwarded to my PHP script. It's not working properly, because when I send a mail to this account, it's bounced by the mailer daemon:
Code: This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.
A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:
pipe to |/home/user/public_html/support/parse.php generated by support@mydomain.com local delivery failed In my /etc/valiases/domain.com file I have:
i'm using plesk 11.5..i've deleted a huge file of 15Go and i've still a message about free space on ther server...MySQL query failed: Got error 28 from storage engineClick to expand...
We have Plesk installed with a dedicated disk on /opt. System disk is about 20 GB, data disk is about 220 Gb.There is 190 Gb free on the data disk (mounted on /opt).
But when we try to increase allocated space for a domain, Plesk says that there's enough disk space..Is there any change or adjustement on Plesk we can do, so Plesk will check space on the good disk ?
On one my servers, I'm receiving hundreds of spam emails that are clogging up the email queue to email addresses that do not exist.
For instance domain.com, I would get
bob@domain.com liz@domain.com 325235@domain.com
You get the picture. How do I setup my server so that if there isn't an email address setup the email automatically gets deleted instead of trying to attempt to deliver it?
I have a client who has his own hosting account, and wants to leave his e-mail on his own hosting account, but his website on my hosting account.
On his own hosting he has created a sub domain called shop, and pointed its A record to the IP address of my server. On my server I've setup his domain name, and created the sub domain shop. That all works fine.
The problem I have is that the site under the shop domain needs to send an e-mail to sales@hisdomain.com. Now my server thinks the main domain is setup on my server, so it sends the e-mail to itself.
I'm justing wondering how I can get the server to point the mails back to his hosting?
A previous host I've used said they had to add the domain as a remote domain on the server, then they had to make some changes to /etc/localdomains because I was getting errors trying to send mails to the address.
We had many backups stored on our Plesk 12 server about 51 GB in total.
After reducing the backups back to 10 GB by removing old backups through the Backup Manager.
The issue is that Health Monitor still reported that there was low diskspace displayed by color yellow. And it look Health Monitor over 16 minutes to change the alarm level from Yellow to Green
However the statistics at the specific subscription still present the Backup usage of 51 GB's whilest they are no longer there.
What can i do about this in order to speed up the synchronization?
I currently have a domain on Server 1 (Linux, Apache, Ubuntu, Matrix control panel).
This server does not have any spam filter, so I have moved all the email accounts to Server 2 (Linux, Apache, Fedora Core, Plesk) which does have a brilliant spam filter; and have changed the DNS record for mail.domain.com to the IP address for Server 2.
Emails are being successfully received on Server 2.
On Server 1, when an email is sent through SMTP to an address at that domain, it does not send it to Server 2, it gets delivered to the hosting account for the domain on Server 1. So what I am guessing is happening is that Server 1 detects the domain has an account on the server, and instead of looking up the DNS info for that domain, just assumes it is on Server 1.
What I need to do, is force Server 1 to send email for that domain to Server 2. Is this possible, and if so, how can it be achieved? If more info about the server is required for a solution please let me know and I'll provide what I can.
Since I can't get any answers in the technical forum, I figured this one would be my best shot.
I'm looking at using SAN storage for multiple webservers, and I'm slightly confused about something.. if a SAN comes with a controller, doesn't it still need a RAID card (I'm looking at making the SAN robust AND quick)?
I know about the bare-minimum gigabit ethernet/fiber along with how to load most things. It's just the barebones hardware I'm having trouble wrapping my head around.
