Forward Domain To Multiple IPs
Forward domain to multiple IPs
I have a domain setup on my Plesk 8.6.0 powered webserver which is being forwarded to a specific IP provided by my costumer, all DNS zone records are inserted accordingly and everything works fine.
Due to a problem with the ISP that provides the fixed IP on my costumer’s server he now wants to get a second IP from a different ISP, for the same webserver, to function as a secondary route onto his server .....

Mutiple Ips For Multiple Domains On Same Server
Mutiple ips for multiple domains on same server? I have 3 ips to be used, I have used 2 for the nameserver in registrar. I have total of 3 ips, which means, I have to place my domains via dns template to the server. Actually, I have set all my domains to a single ip, leaving the 2 ip's which I used for the nameserver to be empty (doin nothin :p) SO, can I use 3 ips, for the 3 sites, ip1 for site1, ip2 for site2, and ip3 for site3 ? Will this make any difference in the site load and time? I am sure they have to b set up with dns templates which I can do Wanted to know what would be the end result of my query

Private Proxy Host With Multiple Ips
Is there a hosting provider that can host my private proxy (for myself only) with cgi hosting (for cgi proxy - I'd like to stay away from php based proxies) and provide multiple ips? Preferably different class C ips? I want to host SQUID proxy on it too. Price, of course, as low as possible, but I understand with these specific requests that low price is really last on my list.

How Do You Block Multiple Ips In Windows 2003 Server
I found out the ips that were being used to attack my server, but I don't know how to block them. My provider (Limestonenetworks) will not block them from the main router because they don't believe in blocking traffic. Is there a way I can run a firewall that could block the ips? The windows firewall does not have an option to block ips. Last question, if I was to install a 3rd party firewall, it won't lock me out of the server right?

Can Your Hosting Address Be Seen When You Forward A Domain?
For example, if I forward my business domain abcproducts.com to my domain where I have my hosting, myname.com, is it possible for people to see where my business domain is forwarding to. Basically, I am doing a business website, but I don't want anyone to be able to see that it actually is forwarding to a folder on my main myname.com where I have my hosting. I am masking it, so it will only show abcproducts.com, but I am wondering if even the "tech saavy" has tools to figure this out. I just don't want anyone to be able to see this. Like, I know how sites like DNSreport.com show all kinds of stuff on the domain. Is there something like this that people can use to see if domains forward?

Sending an email message to info@bar.com doesn't work. When using the ZoneEdit SMTP test utility I get the following error message: Code: > RCPT TO:<info@bar.com> < 550 5.1.1 User unknown: info@bar.com I checked "/etc/vdomainaliases/bar.com" and "/etc/localdomains", they are configured properly. Forward A Domain (incl. Subdirectories/subdomains) To The Same URL
Forwarding a domain (incl. subdirectories/subdomains) to the same URL I'm looking for a provider which can offer a service similar to mydomain.com, I should be able to add an unlimited number of domains to forward on external urls in a way which should point anything-you-digit.myname.com and myname.com/anything-you-digit to the same destination url If the service might also allow to add title, keywords and description for each domain, this would be even better but not required. MyDomain can offer all this but there's a fee for each added domain while we'd prefer paying a monthly fee for a single hosting where adding multiple domains.

Only Domain Reg, Email Forward And Url Redirect Wanted
I need a company to register my domain, and then forward emails and urls to my actual site that is somewhere else. I don't need any actual web hosting or email pop (at the moment). My main requirement is reliability. The company I currently use bounces some email to me and forwards other email to a black hole. They're also not replying to my mail, so it's time to leave. BTW, this is a company that has generally excellent reviews.

1 Domain + 2 IPs = Duplicate Content Penalty
I have several websites setup as follows: - uploaded on host 1 at dedicated IP 111.111.111.111 - and also uploaded at host 2 (backup host) at dedicated IP 222.222.222.222 The dns A-record constantly points at host 1 (IP 111.111.111.111); in case that host fails, I manually switch the dns A-record to host 2 (IP 222.222.222.222). Being dedicated IPs, I can simply type them in my browser's address window, and I see the index page of my website. So, in fact, my site can be accessed via 3 urls: my_site.com, 111.111.111.111 and 222.222.222.222. The question is: will that get me into trouble with Google and other search engines that may see there a duplicate content at 3 different urls and penalize me for that? If yes, how can I avoid it?

Odd Domain Names Using My Server IPs
I have 10 dedicated Ip addresses and recently spotted in my stats for one of my sites, that some odd domain names were mirroring my site. On checking they were using my IP address and displaying my website. I have no idea how they could have done this. I changed my sites IP address to anopther in my range, however these domain names still point to my IP and whatever site I have put there. Someone has said to me it is a form of phishing, but I dont know how they could have done this and whether I can somehow stop this happening. The domains that have kind of hijacked my IP are ipinikoparan dot com and durmakyokyoladevam dot com odd enough domain names, could someone have set this up and is it some kind of security risk?

One Domain On Multiple Servers
I run a vbulletin based web forum ([url] and everything is going quite smoothly. We are currently in the process of getting a partnership with a supplement store. Basically, our goal is to have our own store for Lean Bulk, but it will be run by a different company, and will be on their server. Soo, the store database and custom script will be staying on their server, but my forums will be staying on my server. What I want is for the store to be located at [url]or [url] Either one works for me. However, the tech guy that runs all the stuff for the store, is trying to tell me that this is "impossible." While it might be somewhat difficult, I have a hard time believing anything is really impossible. The tech says the only thing we can do is have the store located at: [url] Personally, I think this looks unprofessional, and would rather stay away from this solution.

Multiple MX Records For Same Domain Email
Right, I have my email address (say email@domain.co.uk) connected to my DirectAdmin controlled server. I have an the simple email services provided by 1and1 that I haven't used for ages. I am a bit confused how multiple MX records can be used, so far I have edited my DNS record file for domain.com to look like this: Code: domain.co.uk.14400INMX5mx00.1and1.co.uk. domain.co.uk.14400INMX10mx01.1and1.co.uk. domain.co.uk.14400INMX0domain.co.uk. If im not mistaken the above show the email server domain.co.uk is connected to (domain.co.uk) is the primary server, with 1and1 2nd and 3rd. However if I changed the priorities all to the same value, i.e "0" would that mean the mail is delivered to all? My ideal solution would be, if the primary server was down, send mail to secondary, but that leads me to another problem. When I want to check mail with Thunderbird its connected to imap.domain.co.uk and not imap.1and1.co.uk, so the problem now is mail split over two servers....! I would like a redundant system, to ensure email is online 99.999% of the time. So my question is, what are peoples current solutions with multiple MX records, and how have they achieved 99.999% uptime of emails.

Keeping Multiple Domain Names Separate
How can it be determined that multiple domains are "affiliated" with each other? For example, at the link below, on the left side of the page it says that yahoo.com, yahoo.net, and yahooligans.com are owned together. Does this mechanism use WHOIS records, or does it use the IP addresses to which each address resolves (which would only get sites that use named-based virtual hosting to the same IP address, right?) [url] If people run multiple sites, say personal and business, and they don't want them to be affiliated, how can they make sure they can’t be linked with each other through such mechanisms?

Prevent IPs Unallocated IPs Being Used
We have been using our L2 switches functionality to only allow IPs that are assigned to a particular server to be accessed for sometime. However, the latest version of this particular switch no longer includes this feature. Moreoever, it is quite a labor intensive task which is not good for "budget" servers. I am considering moving the rules to the main router, but am afraid of the scalability of this. Will it hold up with a few 1000 servers? How are other hosties going about this? I have heard that some just don't bother at all, which leaves their clients open to having their IPs duplicated by others on the same subnet. This can't be good....

Email Auto Forward
I have signed up for hostgators webhosting. Upon setting up, I found out that outgoing mails from any email addresses from my domain name cannot be copied to another email account. I've tried scripting on the client software (e.g)outlook. it works. but then again, it only applies on the client side if the scripted client is present. this would not work if the email is sent from the web based login. is there a work around for it? If there isn't, does any one know of any webhosting co. that allows that? Situation is, my current host does allow it. Due to small amount of disk space allocated, reliability of the service, technical support and cost, we therefore have decided to switch to another host.

Mail Forward / Hostlookup Issues
I have several domains on my server. ABC.com DEF.com XYZ.com These 3 domains have email hosted my google and everything works as expected there. However, when I try and send email from a php form to an address at XYZ.com, my server tries to send it locally, instead of sending it to google's MX address. Client Question About DNS And Mail Forward
I have a situation with a client who wants to keep their current hosting provider for email, but switch their web hosting to a new host. I have recommended downtownhost to them, and explained that we could set up an mx entry to point to their old host for email forwarding. They came back and suggested keeping their current ISP to manage the DNS entry to forward all http requests to DTH, so that mail does not need to pass through DTH. I'm not a hosting whiz so I hope I explained this correctly. I was looking for some advice on: a) does their solution make sense? b) why would you want to do things this way?

Change Needed To Parked Account MX Forward?
II just transfered domain hosting from my clients old host to my server. The new website is up-and-running without problems. At his request, I use a MX --> A redirect to send his mail to his local server at his business, where he wishes to receive it. It is setup as follows: Main domain (xyz.net) MX ->> extmail.xyz.net. extmail "A" ->> 99.99.999.99 (at the clients local server) Here is the PROBLEM. The client has a secondary parked account that just directs to the main account. The client has email MX forwarding from that account, which does not seem to be forwarding correctly after this changeover described above --- it is not being delivered. Question: Do I have to change the MX pointer at the secondary domain to point ->> to extmail.xyz.net? it is currently set to point to mail.xyz.net.
