Host 3 Domain Names, Small Space Required, No Frills
I would like to find a host that could handle 2 or 3 domains but without bells and whistles... everything with shared hosting is $25 a month and up! All 3 sites are under 1mb (not likely to go over 3 mb), written in good old HTML; I would prefer a File Manager but FTP is OK too. Must be US based and have a reasonable uptime guarantee.

Rack Space Required In GlobalSwitch 1 Or 2
We are an established owner of three data centres outside of London. We are looking at either a half or full lockable rack in either Global Switch 1 or 2 (ideally with 24/7 managed hands) in order to terminate a backhaul circuit there. We are also interested in a similar arrangement in TH-E. We only require around 2 amps as the space will only house an edge router and switch for inter/cross connects.

Domain Names And Hosting
I have a domain bought with godaddy.com I have the site hosted on hostultra.com Whenever I put the address in (.com) it stays as the label in the address bar on every page. Is having the hosting and and domain with the same company the only way to make the pages say mysite.com/index.html etc ? Without using masking of course.

Domain Names Not Resolving
Ocassionally some users have problems to connect the their websites, they can connect to the server via browser and can ping it and tracert the server IPs fine, they can also browse domains having a dedicated IP address. But they can't connect or ping their websites from their end, basically I think the domain name is not resolving. From our end and the rest of users everything works fine. Once I get a complain of this type I try whatever I can do Check to see if their IP is not blacklisted Restart named service Restart apache service But most of the time this doesn't work at all. Exactly as the problem comes it goes, nothing I did seems to have any effect on the solution. It goes and ocassionally reappears. Would you suggest me what would I do to find where the problem is and try to solve it.

Register Good Domain Names
I found good domain available names and when I tried to register using some webhosting companies they were first shown as available and in the next step of registration they were claimed to be taken. It does not happen with "not so good" names. I think it happened with whois.net and register.com So it looks like there is no way to register a good name? Even when checking whois may have your good domain name stolen. Can someone comment this and share his/her experience. Which regetar and whois companies can I use safely?

Using WHM To Switch Domain Names
I got abc.com and xyz.com websites hosted on my dedicated server with whm control panel. abc is my dev site and xyz is my current running live site. Now my dev site is done and I like to launch without uploading files to xyz.com. Both sites are on same server. So, I am thinking to rename xyz.com to nonexisting.com in whm (site will down at that time). After that, rename abc.com to xyz.com. In order to rename site names, I have to use Main >> Account Functions >> Modify an Account , and edit domain name>>save. if this is going to work for everything including email settings, ftp etc...

Can You Add Too Many Aliased Domain Names
Is it possible to add too many aliased domain names on a Dedicated server? I have Hostgator's most powerful dedicated server and I added probably 150 domain names as aliases to one of my websites. Now today all of the sudden none of my other sites will load on the web. When I try to go to one of my sites it just thinks and thinks but never loads. I'm using WHM with cPanel. Can aliased names cause too much server load? Some of those 150 domains get a little traffic but not much.

Two Domain Names For One Hosting Account
I have several domain names and I pay for hosting for each domain name. Each domain name gets little traffic, uses little bandwidth, and little storage space. I would like to pay for hosting once and share the bandwidth and storage space amongst the multiple sites. Do you know of a hosting company that offers this? I suppose it would involve having one hosting account and multiple IP addresses that resolve to different folders in your account?

Server To Handle 100s Of New Domain Names
We are setting up 100s of new domain names every day. We are only hosting a simple blog, in fact with our current setup we are on a HostGator Reseller account and we are just using one account meaning one single cPanel account. We have a script that automatically runs when people sign up for our service, this script sets up an addon domain on that same single cPanel account with the same document root. Our modified wordpress blog simply looks at the HTTP_HOST in the config file and opens a separate database tables for every new domain name. The problem we are running into is not the bandwidth usage, nor storage space. But simply the mass addon domains. The cPanel adddomain.html script seems to be getting ran so many times it is overloading the web server. So I have read about some other people here WHT that are starting to use a new server software that uses a lot less server resources then WHM and cPanel. So I am wondering what hosting companies can provide that sort of a server. Specifically: Storage: A couple hundred GB Bandwidth: 1000s of GB Server software to run PHP scripts and mySQL databases Ability to create 1000s of addon domains every day. Does this need to be an array of servers? We are ready to get moving on a deal now.

Odd Domain Names Using My Server IPs

On checking they were using my IP address and displaying my website. I have no idea how they could have done this. I changed my sites IP address to anopther in my range, however these domain names still point to my IP and whatever site I have put there. Someone has said to me it is a form of phishing, but I dont know how they could have done this and whether I can somehow stop this happening. The domains that have kind of hijacked my IP are ipinikoparan dot com and durmakyokyoladevam dot com odd enough domain names, could someone have set this up and is it some kind of security risk?

Keeping Multiple Domain Names Separate
How can it be determined that multiple domains are "affiliated" with each other? For example, at the link below, on the left side of the page it says that yahoo.com, yahoo.net, and yahooligans.com are owned together. Does this mechanism use WHOIS records, or does it use the IP addresses to which each address resolves (which would only get sites that use named-based virtual hosting to the same IP address, right?) [url] If people run multiple sites, say personal and business, and they don't want them to be affiliated, how can they make sure they can’t be linked with each other through such mechanisms?

Lenient Host For Small-Mid Site
I've been using Siteground.com for a few months and they suspended my site because I was using proxy scripts. I had to remove the scripts to get my site back, but now a main function of my site is missing. My site does not take up that much space (only 100MB), but it gets accessed frequently and especially with the proxy script it can sometimes be a burden on the server. I need a lenient web host that allows proxy scripts and other things like CRON jobs, PHP, MySQL (with PHPMyAdmin, preferably, and multiple DBs) and email capabilities (400/hr is okay). I'm used to Linux with CPanel, so staying with the stuff I know would be best. I need to find a reliable host that can meet these needs.

Host For CMS Based Small Business Site
I am currently facing a move from my existing web host, as they are altogether incompetent. Four of the last five days, my site has either been down, showing a suspended page, or redirecting to the main page of the host. (I am a legitimate business - not selling penis enlargement supplements) So now, I need a good host, who will provide maximum value for dollar spent. My requirements are fairly simple. I need 5 SQL databases, the ability to install and configure a CMS of my choosing, and a site that is based in the US. (I need my site to be US based and listed, for very specific reasons) I have used Rochen in the past, and am very happy with them. However, I want my sites on a different host, as several of my other sites are cross linked. Finding services in such a competitive field is overwhelming. It's getting too hard to cut through the BS.

Which is why i need massive amounts of hard drive space. If anyone knows of anything, please PM me or post it here. I will be checking this thread periodically. OH and by cheap I mean less then $100/month. I would guess the server could be either VPS or Shared or if you know of a dedicated server company, then that would be awesome too.

Host That Doesn't Lie About Bandwidth Space?
I am sure this thread was most likely created before but I haven't been able to find anything on the particular host I just had an issue with. It goes like this. I've been through web hosts ever since 1998. I've grown accustomed to web hosts deceiving their customers by listing '20 gigs of BW use, or 'Unlimited BW' (which we all know is BS) but for the past few years, I actually had a host who didn't lie about how much BW their customers got with the packages. I signed up for a 20 gig BW account with HostVector and I've used up to 19 gigs and they have never said a single word. I left them recently because they were bought out by Millennium Services and ever since then, its been a nightmare. Constant down time, tech support nowhere to be found. Sadly to say, I had to leave that host due to fact that their new owners have no clue what they are doing. I found ELIEF and thought they looked promising. I signed up for the package that listed 20 gigs of BW, now at first I thought okay.. this may be fishy, but if this was a flake, they would have specified that customers really won't get 20 gigs of BW. Regardless, I trusted them the way I trusted HostVector. Seeing how I am a musician, I uploaded a 80MB pack and sent it to some friends to download and not even a 12 hours later. My account was suspended because it apparently caused their server to crash? I checked the stats and only 68 users downloaded that 80MB file. This is beyond aggravating. I know there are countless web hosts who lie about this type of stuff but why cant at least specify someplace on their page a more detailed info about bandwidth usage? Maybe put an asterisks next to the BW section like some hosts do and explain that what is listed there is not the reality. So here I am, my domain is suspended. My fans/listeners/friends are wondering what happened and I am sitting here angered beyond belief because I thought this type of lying was something that hosts stopped doing in the late 90s. Any recommendation guys? Does an honest web host who actually offers the same amount of BW they list on their hosting packages, exist anywhere?

Want To Trade 1U Colo Space For Domain Name Server (DNS) And Disaster Continuence
In light of whats happened at the Planet in Houston we are moving up our plans to have an external DNS nameserver (with failover) and emergency website to alert customers in the event of our data center (C4D in Dallas) ever goes down. From all the forum messages reagrds this event its apparent that a lot of hosting companies are suffering the worst from having their support websites at the DC where they host their customers and have no way of notifying their customers of whats going on. Looking to trade 1U of rack space and 1 ip address anywhere in US (Dallas preferred) with someone else who is looking for the same thing. While we are extremely happy with C4D and have faith in their DC, you can never be 100% prepared for things beyond your control.

UK Web Hosting 500MB Space 1GB Bandwidth Existing .org.uk Domain
I'm the webmaster for a church website: stpetersbraunstone.org.uk and our domain & hosting renewal is coming up, so I'm looking to see if there's a better deal. We're with namehog.net (and have been for 2 years with no problems at all) on their Professional package. The renewal fees are 105GBP (web hosting) + 5.90GBP (domain name) + 17.5pc VAT to cover the next 2 years, which comes to 130.31GBP. The site is powered by WordPress, so PHP and MySQL are needed. And we upload lots of photos, so need at least 250MB webspace I'd have thought. So far, our highest monthly bandwidth usage has been under 800Mb, and our visitor numbers are increasing and our highest monthly figure so far was 401. Any recommendations gratefully received. There seems to be many different companies out there who offer what I want, so I'm after some personal recommendations please. I've already used this site to discount streamline.net due to bad reviews. I'm looking at fuzioned.com and redfoxhosting.co.uk - any thoughts? I've also come across no-wires.co.uk - has anyone had any good or bad experiences with them? And yes, I have submitted my details to the "request quote" thing.

Should I, and how would I, wipe out the space properly?

Should Domain Registrar And Host Be The Same
The more I read and research the more confused I get. Issue: Business #1 hosted on local ISP, no pressing need to move it. Business #2 started out selling (not ecommerce) a couple items related to business #1 so I created pages for them on B1 site. B1 is no longer active, B2 now has a lot of items for sale and needs to get it’s own site, eventually ecommerce, but not right away (not a lot of time right now). I own the name for B2 parked at Network Solutions & it’s up for renewal (in a few days). I can move the domain register & get a website on one of the bigger hosting sites for about the same cost as I’m now paying for a private registration at NS. Is it stupid to pay for private since the contact info is plastered all over the website anyway? Most of these hosts offer a free domain registration. Then I read that it’s better to have your domain registered somewhere other than the site host in case there is a dispute. I’m thinking—move registration to GoDaddy now. Keep researching hosts. If I (ever) decide on one that offers free registration I can get another name to park on the main domain that is reg’ed with GoD? Or would the free domain automatically be considered the main domain at host where I’d have 1 c panel & add-ons? I need to make sure I can add ecommerce to the site in the future. I created the original site in Front Page 97 which is of course no longer supported, I no longer even have a fully working version that I can find since I upgraded to XP, but I have a front page editor & Cute FTP to update the B1 site. So I’m in the market for another simple site builder, I don’t write code. I also have a dial-up connection only, so I don’t think an on-line builder is a good option. Oh, and I’m on a tight budget but not looking for a free hosting “service”. $10/ month maybe? I didn’t even know anything about CPanels and add ons and sub domains until a couple days ago. Info overload,
