I wanted to point my MX record from my registrar's dns to a hosted account that is controlled by cPanel, but inside cPanel I don't see a unique MX record, it just lists my domain name. Is this possible with cPanel? I have done this before with H-Sphere.
I am just parking my domain and using my registrar's nameservers and wanted to just add in the MX record for email.
I have a dedicated server with Hostgator and I want to point img1.smackjeeves.com to img1.smackjeeves.com on my Dreamhost server. Dreamhost tells me what nameservers to use for smackjeeves.com, but my Hostgator server is already serving as a nameserver. Can I have my main DNS record point to Dreamhost's DNS only for img1? Or do I need to have my img1 mimic Dreamhost's DNS for img1?

The only info I can find on Yahoo suggests I need to redelegate the domain's name servers to Yahoo, and I'd rather not do this if I can help it.
Is it possible to simply leave the name servers at GoDaddy and point the MX record to Yahoo's servers?
I don't see anything on Yahoo saying it won't work, but then I see nothing to suggest it will either!

I am having a site developed that will have a "front end" - ie the actual website with a login members area etc. The "back end" will be a set of scripts that work behind the scenes, including a bot that visits other sites and passes info to those sites.
The concern I have is, if I put the whole lot on one Cpanel, and then it gets whacked by a surge of traffic etc, the "back end" will crash as well.
My question is, would it be better to host the site itself on one cpanel account, but store the Db and the back end scripts on another cpanel, both on the same server. Then even if the site cpanel maxes out or crashes, the processes will continue to run? The site itself would also need to access the Db stored on the second cpanel.

I have a dedicated server and many hosted customers, I want to setup SSL for IMAP email and their cpanels.
Instead of purchasing individual SSL certificates for each domain. I was thinking to just use my hostanme (eg host.myhostname.net) and direct them to that as I have seen the option in WHM.
My question is can I use an SSL cert for email that will act as a "fleetwide" SSL cert?
For example instead of using mail.theirdomain.com could I just use mail.myhostname.com and would it give them SSL without warnings? Of course they would set their email client to mail.myhostname.com..
Is it safe or recommend to use your hostname? I read somewhere to never use your hostname as a domain.. so not sure.
I have a dedicated server, and I need to migrate a client who has with me an account with Cpanel and add on domains, and now is upgrading his account to one of my resellers accounts plans.
It has now assigned 2 dns:
ns1.maindomain.com.mx IP--> xxx.xx.x.65
ns2.maindomain.com.mx IP--> xxx.xx.x.66
and he does not want to use this dns's anymore, so, he registered a new domain otherdomain.com to have new dns's
I already create the dns zones for that domain and assigned 2 more IP's:
ns1.otherdomain.com --> xxx.xx.xx.17
ns2.otherdomain.com --> xxx.xx.xx.18
(both different from the first ones)
The problem I have is how to separate accounts from the Cpanel add on domains and assigned them individually to a WHM, for my client to create packages and manage his own reseller accounts, without loosing any information at all.
I know that he already has a WHM with the maindomain.com.mx as his main account, but when he signs in to the actual WHM, he see just one account maindomain.com.mx
So, can you tell me how to migrate all the Cpanel add on domains to the new otherdomain.com reseller account (is already created also) with its own Cpanel each one of the 15 domains he has.

I want to use wildcard subdomain.
I have my domain name pointed to a VPS 1. I want its subdomain (for example sub.domain.com) to be pointed to another VPS 2.
So that if someone visits www.domain.com the php files are delivered from VPS1 and if some visits sub.domain.com then php files are delivered from VPS2.
I need to keep my VPS1 rock solid and extremely secure by keeping lowest possible php files and on low load too and want another VPS for online demo and testing (high load and cluttered with php files). I cannot use another domain (for second vps) as the sub.domain.com pages are already indexed on google and changing domain means will have to again reindex them and rank them in google.
A UK-based client has approached me with a domain name he has with ALLDOMAINS.com.

how this can be done? Do I have to create a subdomain for this? But when I try to create a subdomain throught the OLM control panel, it asks me for the real path i.e. '/var/www/html/subdomain_folder' which I don't have in this case. Secondly, can this be done without modifying any information in the DNS? Changing DNS costs be $5/change from OLM
Can anyone recommend a well-established VPS provider with facilities at a major EU connection point, preferably TheNetherlands? I need a small account for secondary DNS and MX, plus some caching experimentation. Might turn into an unmetered dedicated mega-server at the same location if things go as planned, so if you only have experience with dedi or colo at a certain host, feel free to chime in.
I'm already a colo-host and a cPanel distributor myself, so I don't need management or a control panel, just a minimal-install CentOS 5 VPS. (I'll be installing cPanel DNSonly) Here's the kicker though, like most USians, I only speak English (and some would say badly), so the host has to speak at least enough to get the account set up. (preferably has a site in English). The real deal-breaker is that they MUST have their own merchant account and accept credit cards for recurring billing. I will not use Paypal, Moneybookers, or any other 3rd-party processor that requires a registration or manual payments. That almost always indicates an amateur operation in someone's basement. I've been with serverpoint.com for over a year now and my experience has been overwhelmingly positive. Last year I negotiated an excellent price for a dedicated box with serverpoint via PM. They delivered my server promptly and even upgraded my CPU since they were out of stock on the one I had ordered. The few times I’ve had to call support (due to issues on my end) they’ve been prompt and professional.
My only real complaint is I can’t setup automatic bill pay online. They want my to send a photocopy of my CC and a photo ID, which I’m leery of.
I suppose this is a boring review, but in and ideal world isn’t that the way it should be? Who wants a lot of drama with a host provider?

I have my myname.com and I'd like to forward home.myname.com to my home server IP.
I'm running Linux and Apache on both the server I lease (that has myname.com set up on) and on my home server (hopefully home.myname.com).
So far I've tried URL rewriting in .htaccess, which works, but it fowards to my IP in the browser's address bar- Id like to keep the address bar as home.myname.com.

We are trying to implement a reseller model shopping website for our resellers. The customized shopping website for the reseller will be hosted on our website, say: abc.xyz.com
We want our resellers to load abc.xyz.com from their own sub domain itself, like: shopping.abc.com
I know that this can be done using a URL redirection, but is there any way that shopping.abc.com will load the contents from abc.xyz.com and still keep the URL unchanged in the address bar ? I'm not referring to URL masking using iframes and note that xyz.com and abc.com are on different servers. Does anyone know whether this is technically feasible?

There saying that there is something wrong with my .htaccess file and I dont know what to do. My host looked over my server and said there is nothing wrong with it at all. Sorry if it's worded a bit weird, but I want people to be able to set their nameservers to mine, and that domain would become similar to a parked domain that I'd make through cpanel. Then I'm assuming I can use a little script or mod_rewrite to configure it (for example, parkeddomain.com would be rewritten to mysite.com/redir.php?a=parkeddomain.com).
1) What are some things/terms/programs I can look into for this?

whats up fellers, i'm attempting to point my design site name from whm, to my home i.p address by changing the i.p in whm dns zone editor. I'm doing this because its just so much easier to copy an ad, or web site or whatever i do to the server via my home network so the client can see the project pretty much in realtime (some ads are like 800mb) . ALSO i'm trying to set up exchange so my motorola q will have realtime email.
Anyway, so "mysite.com -A record -i.p.addy" Now the site comes up.. and i get emails.. but i cant 'send' any emails and windows server is telling me i have a non existing domain name.
so the question is am going way over my head and should i just use a service like no-ip or dyndns or can this be done?
