I am having the hardest time binding my domain name to my Apache server. If I use the IP address, I can access it just fine even outside of my network. But when I try to bind my domain name to that exact same IP address it just does not work.
I am running Apache 2.0.64 on Windows 8 and my domain name is registered at Name.com. I have contacted them to and I am awaiting a response but they are really backlogged right now and I thought it wouldn't hurt to post here as well. Besides, I thought it might have something to do with my Apache config file anyways and I wanted to make sure.
My customer has an external facing Apache server that is acting as a reverse proxy to two internal applications. They have:
- external addresses for each app which resolve to different ip addresses, so app1.their_domain.com and app2.their_domain.com resolve to 77.3.170.10 and 77.3.170.11 respectively. - the Apache server has two network interfaces with ip addresses 192.168.10.10 and 192.168.10.11 - the external ip addresses resolve to the above internal addresses - the firewall between the Apache server and the internal app servers is configured to allow traffic from 192.168.10.10 to reach app_server1, and traffic from 192.168.10.11 to reach app_server2, both using port 7777.
I have configured a virtual host in httpd.conf for each ip, i.e.
This works fine in that the external address are being routed to the correct application, however the firewall is blocking requests to the second app as it appears the requests are coming from the Apache servers 'primary' ip address 192.168.10.10 instead of 192.168.10.11.
Is it possible to send requests using the ip address from the relevant VirtualHost?
thinking about adding web hosting to my reseller account. Can anyone tell me the difference between an IP address and a domain. If they are different who actually owns the domain and who owns the IP address?
I'm moving from shared to dedicated hosting. I've added an account and used ftp and phpmyadmin to copy over a WordPress installation. I would like to test this installation before re-directing the name servers, but I'm having no luck.
If I browse to 12.34.567.890/whm, I get the Web Host Manager. If I browse to 12.34.567.890, I get the "Great Success! Apache is working on your cPanel and WHM server" page. If I browse to /anything_else, (e.g., /wp-admin, /index.php, etc.) I get a 404 message.
Is there any way I can test this application (and others) using the IP address, or am I going to have to change the DNS and navigate to mydomain.com?
However, the default web page is blank. Now my site has been DDoSed for the last 3 days. Does this mean they are attacking the site from the IP, because I do see many genuine access to the correct Vhost but no body should access the site via the IP.
Especially... why is the client, my on server ip that accesses?
For example, if I forward my business domain abcproducts.com to my domain where I have my hosting, myname.com, is it possible for people to see where my business domain is forwarding to. Basically, I am doing a business website, but I don't want anyone to be able to see that it actually is forwarding to a folder on my main myname.com where I have my hosting. I am masking it, so it will only show abcproducts.com, but I am wondering if even the "tech saavy" has tools to figure this out. I just don't want anyone to be able to see this.
Like, I know how sites like DNSreport.com show all kinds of stuff on the domain. Is there something like this that people can use to see if domains forward?
I am running plesk 9.2. I need to move one domain from the shared IP to dedicated IP. How do I do that? My server vendor has already allocated the IP addresses to me and I can see the unused IPs in the Ip address pool. How can I change the ip of suppose; mydomain.com from 1.2.3.4(shared) to 4.5.6.7(dedicated)?
I am having a bit of trouble from a guy and he has managed to get my full details from my domain name even though I have them set private, how has he done this?
I want to register a domain from some organization. During the registration the registrar asks me to provide a primary DNS with an IP address and a secondary DNS with an IP address.
Because I have already a website with a godaddy hosting, I want that may new domain also points to my godaddy hosting. So I have to provide the DNS of my godaddy hosting to the domain registration company.
But my question is; Which IP address do they require? Do they ask me the IP address of my DNS’s (NS43.DOMAINCONTROL.COM, NS44.DOMAINCONTROL.COM) or the IP address of the server on which my website is running.
i have a dedicated server with 5 usable IP's in range xxx.242 to xxx.246
xx.xxx.120.242 <-- main shared IP xx.xxx.120.243 xx.xxx.120.244 <-- in use by my nameservers xx.xxx.120.245 <-- in use by my nameservers xx.xxx.120.246
When i select in WHM "Change Site's IP Address " and the account i want to change it shows me a drop down menu with the ip's of the nameservers AND the
xx.xxx.120.243
If i select that one the domain in the account shows the apache default page only inmediately.
I don't know why the xx.xxx.120.246 ip doesn't show or why the nameserver ip's appear because they are in use.
Do i need to wait for propagation or is this an error?
I have what seems to be a simple redirect question. I have a dedicated server and a few static IP addresses, but I want to make it so if someone were to type in my IP address in their browser, Apache will redirect them to the domain name. (Typing in [url]
What happens now is that if you were to type in my server's IP address, it will show you the FIRST VirtualHost container that's listed in httpd.conf. This is not so bad since I've placed my main company site at the start of the list, but I'd rather redirect the IP into the domain name I use.
I read somewhere that you can place Mod RewriteRules directly in the VirtualHost container rather than using .htaccess, but the few "rules" that I tried didn't seem to do anything. And yes, I restarted Apache each time I edited httpd.conf.
Is there an easy way to do this?
ALSO, is there a way to redirect the name server address too? If you type in [url]into the browser, it acts the same way. I would ultimately like to redirect both the nameservers and the IP address(es) to the domain name.
I have a dedicated server hosted in some data center. The server provider has provided me an IP address. I have bought a a domain name which redirects the traffic to that IP.
I have not been provided with any nameserver.
My question is is it possible that I register multiple domain names against the same IP address? If yes how?
I've dozens of domains which don't have heavy traffic. I wanna host them on different IP's for SEO reason. I can share IP's with other users but evch domain of mine shall be hosted on a unique IP.
I've a vps hosting with several domains as you can see
I have to install several SSL certificates and the provider indicates me I must use different IP address in each domain, but I don't know how to do that.
I have several IPs
But all the domains are associated with the first IP, and I can't disassociate one domain and associate it to other IP.
Only when I go to settings for the hosting, I can change the IP, but it's the IP of the hosting, not the IP for one domain.
(1) domain1.com limit to 10 connections per IP per 30 seconds but allow if accessing file beginning with x.php such as x.php?981 x.php?o19
(2) domain2.com limit to 10 connections per IP per 30 seconds only if accessing file beginning with x.php but allow if accessing file beginning with y.php y.php?981 y.php?o19 .....
I have two servers running cPanel/WHM, with BIND and Exim. I have my main domain running on one server (gizmo.mywebhost.net) and wish to host a seperate helpdesk on a subdomain support.mydomain.com (on a second server, stripe.mywebhost.net).
The subdomain mail account test@support.mydomain.com works fine with hotmail, i can send and reveive between my stripe.mywebhost.net server and hotmail without any issue.
The problem is when i try and send mails from accounts hosted on gizmo.mywebhost.net, to the subdomain server stripe.mywebhost.net, i get the following unroutable address error fired back by the local exim process:
This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.
A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:
test@support.mydomain.com Unrouteable address
------ This is a copy of the message, including all the headers. ------
When creating a domain alias in Plesk, I can activate Web, Mail and DNS. When I activate "Mail" I would think that I now can create a mail address with that domain (myaddress @ domainalias.com). But I can't. If I create a new one I only can choose between the "real" domains. Is this a bug or a feature?
We are looking for a solution to support multible IP's for different domains in one subscription/cusomer Account. Current, we have 4 IP's as shared. the Customer can choose under "Web Hosting Access" , which IP he wants to use.
This setting effect all domains in his Account. So it is not possible to set domain1.tld to e.g. IP 1.1.1.1 and domain2.tld e.g. to 2.2.2.2
We like to offer the cusomers one cusomer account with multible IP's
Apache version > i don't know (i am a godaddy user) Apache platform > unix
I try to make a change to my current htaccess for now my url looks like> sitename.com/en/filename.ext..I want to get to have an address resembling this:

Pretty new to Apache and recently enabled teh Apache Server Status module.
A column is confusing me, after CONN/CHILD/SLOT is CLIENT, most of the addresses in this column are my own local addresses but I have a few which I don't recognise and show up on whois.net as follows;
203.188.201.201 = Yahoo Mail 199.87.232.177 = No Result 141.44.51.95 = Query terms are ambiguous 58.218.204.102 = CHINANET-JS
I have a VPS and run few websites. I am not good in Apache and Linux. I just got a dedicated IP address for one of my domains. I like that the website opens just by typing the IP address in the address bar of the browser. How can I activate that?
