Host For Adult Orientated Blog
Mar 14, 2006I am looking for a cheap host that will allow adult orientated discussions and advertising. There wont be any actual porn on the site or at least not hosted on the account.
I was looking at a small orange and it looks like they allow light adult material but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.

Hosting For Mp3 Site: Advice Needed
Apr 4, 2007I am planning on launching an mp3 site for a music studio. the problem now is, i dont know what type of bandwidth usage to expect from users and i dont want my client to think its my fault. (some of them dont really want to know the technical basics)
To give a hint of the advice i am looking for,: say i have 300 different mp3 files at 3.0 mb per size what size of hosting and bandwidth should i look for that can cater for upwards of 100,000 users who will listen to up to 6 hrs of music on the site.

Jan 22, 2009I'm looking to host my own website(s), money isnt really an issue, but I'd like some advice on which package would be most suitable. I can't upgrade to different platforms, so I need to get the right package from the start.
I like the sound of the dedicated server, but my experience of supporting servers isn't great, so I'm wary of getting this option.
The VPS looks good, could anyone please tell me how this works? What the difference between thi sand a dedicated server? Do you need alot of server support experience to use this?
Would the normal MS hosting package be suitable? I take it its not very flexible.
Hosting For Blog
Mar 23, 2008to migrate a friends Blog from a pre-hosted service to his own domain and hosting. A domain is no problem for me to get but hosting seems to have changed a bit since I last purchased it all myself. Looks like all the old hosting companies I used to use have disappeared, and many are offering monster deals that I really don't need for a Blog.
What I'm looking for is something cheap and simple. It's a British Blog but I would prefer American hosting just due to the cheaper conversion rates. I have no real preferences, just enough to host a Blog and a few images. What I would like is a host that is easy to upgrade should the Blog grow and need more for it.

Customized Hosting For My Blog
Jun 10, 2009Currently I am hosted with Aquarius Storage, who are a fantastic company and I will be posting a review of them soon, but however that is not my point. Due to the recent tragedy of the HyperVM creator committing suicide, I will have to pay more because AQ is switching to Virtuozzo. Because I simply run a somewhat large, growing blog, paying 36$ per month is kind of outrageous.
To make things short, I need a good host, that was superb uptime, and is optimized for a WordPress blog that gets around ~5k uniques, ~30k pagehits, ~100k spider hits per month. (all figures are growing, of course), and for the site to be optimized to be speedy fast.
Unbiased Blog About Web Hosting
Jan 4, 2009Well it occured to me just now that I think this might be a challenge: do you know any absolutely unbiased web hosting blog?
Without a doubt WHT is a truly unbiased discussion forum for the web hosting industry. However when it comes to blog and the luring big affiliate bucks more and more hosting companies are offering, I doubt there would be ANY truly unbiased 3rd party blogs / info sites on hosting industry.
Should I Use Shared Hosting For My Blog

Right now it's currently hosted on my loaded dedicated server and it's running very slow. Do you guys think I should order a shared hosting just for this blog alone?

Aug 2, 2005I have never worked with an adult oriented website before, so I really don't know a whole lot about the arena. I might be making a web site for an exotic dancer that may contain explicit photographs (no sex, topless images probably). This is more of a homepage, not a pay for membership adult site.
Anyways, whenever I have signed on with a host in the past they all seem to have the uniform user agreement that states no pornography, warez, etc. Would this type of thing be considered a pornographic web site? If so, are there any hosts that provide affordable shared web hosting that allow this, or would I be forced to get a dedicated server or something?
Just trying to get a feel for how much of a pain in the butt this could end up being, I might decide not to do it if this will require some expensive specialty hosting. Any advice would be appreciated.

i've been with cirtex for 1 month and in that month i've had my account suspended due to high cpu usage.. and the sites mysql has been down due to disc space full cos they didnt clear the tmp folder.. all in the space of one month..
My site gets currently 4,000 uniques per day with around 13,000 page views..
its a tube site however the videos are embedded from another site so bandwidth is relativly low at around 4gb/dayso if anyone else runs a similar site i'd like to know who you host with and if you get many problems.

I want to do is users downloading videos and photos through rapidshare, megaupload and that stuff.
About the pics, images are put through imageshack, imagevenue etc. Thas is why i dont need to much space.

I've been refining an idea I had for an adult website after getting some good feedback from this site, but I had a few specific questions I still need addressed. If you think this forum is the wrong place to be asking about this, do you happen to know of any other forums that specialize in discussing adult web hosting?
My general plan is to set up a video-based adult site that charges people money (a monthly fee) to see the premium content. I have a general idea about my start-up investments, but not necessary how much each would cost, and I'm trying to put together a budget. If anyone could help me fill in some of these blanks I would really appreciate it!!
I'll need a lawyer to set up site disclaimers, contracts, etc. - I assume this will be a few hundred dollars - does this sound correct?
I need to build the site- this is where I'm not sure about costs. The general specifications are like any other adult website - users pay to register - so I would go with one of the established companies that deals with secure online credit card transactions - any ideas which ones are good? How much do they normally take?
Users then can watch the videos, rate and give feedback. Since I don't really know any programming besides HTML, I'm assuming I need to hire someone to build the site and make sure it is secure. I'm also assuming this will be the most expensive part of the investment. Can someone give me some estimates about this? Are there general templates online that I can use that will save money? Is guru.com a trusted place to hire programmers? Is this something I could do myself without spending years learning a new programming language? How DO I make the site secure, and how can I keep people from stealing my premium content and posting it on other sites? I'm obviously trying to make this as cheap as possible without sacrificing all the quality - but unfortunately I have thousands to invest and not tens of thousands (i don't know if this will be a problem or not).
Also - hosting. I was told that a popular adult video site will cost a fortune in bandwidth. If I'm charging a monthly membership fee I'm hoping that can offset the costs. Can someone recommend good, scalable adult video hosting - and give me a general idea about what kind of server I need, how much bandwidth etc. I figure since this is membership driven I can start small and then increase bandwidth depending on how many members join, so I'm always making a profit. Feb 12, 2009I am planing on running I guess you would call it a semi tube script. It pulls videos from others sites and thumbs them at your own site in categories. The viewers however do view the videos at my site in a popup video player or another page.
Hostgator looks like a good host however I just talked to them and they don't have ffmpeg....
