There so called award winning service and 24hr customer service is to laugh at ...
Well its been about a week now that i have left Aplus.net
About 6 months ago i decided to go on shared hosting for my small forum and website that i started. I have no idea where to go, i have new at this shared hosting stuff. So i decided to get hosting with Aplus.net because i bought my domains from them. BIG MISTAKE EVER
Only six months and i had problems from the very beginning. I'm not going to lie some of the customer service is fine. The employees are nice. But damn! I only have about 10 users on my forum that you can consider as actively. But i keep getting to many connections open or other errors. And the server is SLOW. Even my website was slow. Like COME ON.
Anyways they were nice enough to move me to a new server. But same thing. SLOWNESS.
I didn't want to move because i thought all companies would be like that. But i decided to go for it. So i moved with HostGator.
And i've never been Happier!!!
WOW. This is how my Small forum should run FAST.
And the server panel is alot faster.
I decided to write this and hope if someone is with aplus and they are having the same problem as me. MOVE COMPANIES. I was a bit scared about moving compainies but it was well worth it. I still have one site that i am in the process of moving to HostGator.
Lesson is: Aplus.net sucks!
I even got screwed because i payed for 2 years.
i am trying to find a webhost for my website, i don't have any scripts or none of that
just html files so i don't think the cpu thing applies to me but i need loads & loads of BW because i share my mp3 collection between my friends aplus is offering a share account with 2TB of BW for 9.99 and JPC is offering unmetered 1mbps does the jpc thing mean all downloads will be slow if the files are like 8megs each and like 40 people are trying to download?
a web host that can provide the following:
1. Full CGI access (not just the CGI-BIN Directory)
2. PHP
3. MySQL (preferably unlimited)
4. Miva Merchant 5 with e-store connectors
I like what Aplus.net is offering plus their monthly storage & transfer.
I've looked around quite a bit and the only web host I was able to find that offers full cgi access is aplus.net and ix web hosting.
Unfortunately, both have bad reviews but I guess it's a step up from Ipower (which I currently have) since their ratings are even worse.. Not that I've had any problems with them.
Bought a new server from Aplus.net last night.
Got a great deal on a simple server for a side project. Paying $59.99 a month for the server which makes it very affordable for medium-size projects.
General:
* Setup Fee: Free
* Celeron 1.7 GHz CPU
* 512 MB RAM (upgradeable to 2GB)
* 60 GB IDE Hard Drive
* 500 GB Monthly Transfer
* 5 IP addresses*
* Premium Set-Up Options
The sign-up was quick and easy and I was sent an authorization email. I authorized and was able to immediately log into my account.
I processed the order a bit late at night so the next morning I received a call on my cell from my personal tech rep saying the server was already up and running (they said it would take three day, more like 8 hours)
He offered any assistance to help me get up and running and gave me a direct line to his phone in case of anything. Then he emailed his contact info and an introduction to my e-mail as I requested.
So far I am very pleased with the setup and the individualized attention, although I may not require it, it is very comforting to know it is there.
First impressions mean a lot to me and Aplus.net's first impression is stellar to say the least.
Hope this helps, I will be posting a review a bit down the line on how it progresses.
requirement:
512M+ memory
1T+ bandwidth per month
budget: USD $50~60 per month
We're currently in need of a reliable provider in California. We're currently using ServerBeach and their LA data center but we're having major issues with their service and support (highly recommend staying away from them at all costs).
Normally we go through referrals from other data centers but we're having a hard time locating a solid provider in the California area.
Our company are soon to launch and we are in desperate need of a dedicated server so our coder can code all of our sites and upload them. We have a server with thevpsguy.com which has been down since last Monday! I have only received very limited support from Ian the owner and now I am beginning to give up hope on him sorting anything out because he ignores all my emails and makes false promises.
Who are the best dedicated server providers?
I want someone with good support, but I still like the personal touch so not huge companies.
who knows one?

View 14 Replies View RelatedMy friend asked me that, "Hey! How are you doing? I am thinking about buying hosting from this new-webhosting-company-to-me.com . What do you think?"
I replied him that,
"Well, I had a server with them.. Let me tell you something about them,"
"Value for money: 4/5 points" (their hardwares are worthy)
"Setup Time: 3/5 points" (they took 2 days to setup. But i read 24 hours setup time on their homepage)
"Friendly Support: 5/5" (those dudes were skill full and friendly when i asked for os reinstall and other support requests)
"Datacenter/Infrastructure: 4/5" ("good network and I got 2 hours downtime only once")

Well, I said above 4 things to consider, before buying from a host.
What would be your top 5 considerations about any host to recommend your friend?
which company is the most reliable when it comes to server monitoring with SMS notifications.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMaybe somebody here can shed light on this issue. I have a VPS that is hosted at the Colo4Dallas datacenter. I have purchased a block of 5 IP addresses, and then requested reverse dns zones be added for each IP.
The original 2 IP addresses that came with it, adding reverse DNS zones were no problem, it was done within a day. For some reason though, these additional 5 IP addresses they are having a horrible time with getting the zones added. My host that I have the VPS through said they put the ticket in, and Colo4Dallas is saying they may not be able to add the reverse DNS entries for some reason. I could not get any technical detail yet though because they are still working on it.
My question to everyone here is.... why? Granted I do not know *THAT* much about the datacenter-side of things, but it would seem to me that an IP is an IP, and if you could add the zones for the original 2 IP addresses, why is it not as easy with an additional 5? I *have* to have reverse dns entries for these IP's for email reasons for my customers that will be on these IP addresses.
Can anyone shed some light on what the technical problem could possibly be?
Due to some recent negative experiences, one of my customers had to cancel their account with IBackup.com's Pro services. It had provided exceptional reliability and did Windows backup of the System State, Exchange Server, SQL, and provided file versions going 30 back. But I couldn't get anywhere with technical support for 2 weeks on why it would freeze during the backups. The final straw came when I installed it to a brand new server and had the same issues.
I'm looking for a suggestion on a provider that does at least file-level backups and Exchange backups. I've looked around online, read reviews, but it doesn't look like the providers do Exchange backup. I don't need mailbox-level backup, just brick-level for disaster recovery. File versions going back (in case a user makes a mistake and wants to restore an old copy) would be nice, but not required.
I have several sites with Godaddy, but their lack of any real support leaves something to be desired. Does anybody know of a decent provider that has options for database support (mysql) and the like?
View 11 Replies View RelatedMost of our customers are going to be accessing the server from Europe and Asia and North Carolina, so I am looking for a dedicated server provider on the east coast.
I'd like KVM, network storage, remote backup if possible.
This is first time i am writing about hostgator using there service since 4 years.
I have 3 dedicated servers purchased with them within last 6 months and orderd for 4th server on 31st Aug 08. And now as business is growing i will need more and more servers every 2- 3 month. But its seems hostgator is not interested in business as they had already grown now. Even they don't care of their loyal customers who are them with years.
On 3rd day of orderd they told me my server will be deliverd within next 24 hours and on 4th day i contact them serveral times they keep on repiting they will upate and then they said server is out of stock and will be available soon and today is 5th day still there is no reply from them and when i contact them they clearly have no idea about it. Some says will get it soon and when i show my ticket. they say its still out of stock . When i contact with theplant.com datacenter they told me the server is available to order and are never out of stock.
I dont know whats actual reason.
Please help me guys to find good manage dedicated server host so i can cancel my order with them and go to another good company.
This is serious, please do not find the thread as SPAM, waste of time, or useless. I'm doing my research while at it.
Current Provider: ThePlanet
CPU: Dual Core 3.2GHz (seeking 2.8GHz Dual Core or better)
Memory: 1GB (seeking 1GB or more or better; unknown technical specs)
Harddrives: 400GB Harddrive (seeking 400GB or more or better)
Cost: ~$320/month (seeking at this price or cheaper)
Bandwidth: 1500GB @ 100Mbps (seeking more than 1500GB, but @ 100Mbps)
So help me find providers other than ThePlanet (good hosting, but not good enough to help advance the webhosting business through over-selling). I am seeking for specs at, around, or close to the ones I gave above (monthly fee also). Reliability is a very important factor!
Not a virtual machine, sorry for typo. The OS is Fedora,

They're claiming that the problem is with the upstream provider.
So I had a question for all you smarter than a 5th grader guys.
When there's a problem with the upstream provider, shouldn't all my IPs go down?
I have a /24 with hosted with these guys, but some IPs are up while others keep going up/down.
Does anyone have experience with a good IRC VPS provider? I want to run an couple of BNC's. Unmanaged is fine. My budget for this would be $20/month.
