View 1 RepliesI'll be doing extensive customizations to the cart for a store with around 100 items.
From what I understand, the numerous SQL queries used by the cart can cause spikes in CPU usage and I would like to find a host that is familiar with hosting CS-Cart sites and does not oversell. Budget is around $15/mo including a dedicated IP for a private SSL.
Been looking for a few days now without much success. Tried CyberLNC but they seem to be small and don't appear to have phone support and seen mixed reviews on Siteground.
Is anyone having any support problems with Webbycart lately?
I'm on a manage server with them and its been okay till yesterday.
My server went down sometime in early morning. And was down pretty much most of morning and afternoon. Couldn't get anyone to answer support ticket till a few hours later on the issue. And that was yesterday.
Today same thing. Woke up to find out my server is down again. Submitting a support about the issues and its been 4 hours and I still no replies to my ticket. Email notification on my support tickets aren't being sent out like normal too.
I've setup a shopping cart and payment gateway and I've been completey customizing everything (working very hard for the estimated launch date for my new hosting company at the end of this month). However, someone setup an account under the name "John Doe" with root@localhost as the email address. It appeared to have been setup almost immediately once I setup oscommerce. This is odd because I've never TOLD anyone about my web site and haven't even begun the marketing portion of it yet.
I am SO happy I don't have automatic account creation otherwise I would be so stressed out right now!
Has anyone else experienced this? What does this occurrence mean and how can I stop this from happening in the future? The one thing that bothers me is the root@localhost email as I don't want anyone accessing anything that has to do with the root directory.
I just got a new VPS with Direct Admin installed and was scouting around for some one to secure, optimize and manage the VPS as I really do not have the time at this moment to do it myself.
I selected Webbycart to do it for me and I have not been disappointed. Bobby and his team have been truly impressive and have done a wonderful job on the VPS.
I have put in a total of 4 support tickets so far and each one has been attended to in a fast, professional manner.
I will continue to have them for VPS management as they are technically capable of handling stuff unlike one other management provider I have seen.
I have a dedicated server with a shopping cart and I have had a very few people say they were buying and at the order completion stage the final page would not load.
This happens very rarely and I actually cannot reproduce it.
How can I even begin to trouble shoot this type of problem?
I was wondering what kind of web hosting I need to have to build an online shopping cart site? Does a shared hosting package work? The site will need to process credit card transactions so it needs to be secured. I'd appreciate some recommendations.

A lot of the web hosts I Come across are resellers. This is understandable, but is it possible to find out who they are reselling for? Also, is it possible find out who the registrar of a domain is? I know of whois, but it doesn't seem to tell me the original host/registrar.
View 6 Replies View RelatedIs there a way you can hide from the whois lookups how many site's you have hosted on your server? Like, for the reverse IP, usually it'll mention how many sites are hosted on the server when you do a whois lookup.
Is there a way to prevent it from doing that?
I went through a good reseller instead of going through the datacenter
They offer great support unlike the datacenter their purchasing from
But i know that data center are professional company.
I did a whois on my domain name everything looks ok, my info.
But when i do a whois on the ip for this domain,
I get the company info for the datacenter.
Can i change this or do i have to purchase my own ip?
I forget the technical term for this. But I wish to be able to change the abuse email upon IP lookup to ensure abuse gets dealt with as swiftly as possible. There will be obvious trust issues involved however. Do any providers offer this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI got a new box, replaced it with my old one, and the whois program only shows registry portion, but not registrar portion.
I see when it expires and stuff, but not the registrant info you know.
never run into this before, can someone come with a solution?
It's standard CentOS.
Anyone can let me know whois server for .asia and .mobi domain?

I want to hide my NS records on WHOIS lookup, or show a fake or something so that no one can find me, Is it possible,
View 5 Replies View RelatedAnyone know a good registrar who accepts Paypal payments with a .com domain price of around $10 or less and privacy option for about $2 or less? I also need to be able to set nameservers in a control panel.
Registerfly and GoDaddy didnt work... both ask credit cards and I only have Paypal.
This morning I was doing some domain lookups trying to find an available yousuck.* domain, and I stumbled upon this record:

Is it really ethical for bluehost to advertise their prices in the whois records of domains registered through them?
How do I go about adding new whois servers in my linux box so that the "whois" command can work for those domains? I notice I can't get any .me information now.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm about to launch a viral project that has realy good potential to strike it big, but would like to clear a few things first.
I would not like to have it associated with my name - not that it anything illegal, but in real life I'm doing something completely different and on the record would like to keep it that way.
So that probably means keeping the whois private - but I have another question as well. Suppose the project strikes it big - would a diggin journalist be able to still get my name/data from a hosting company too?
Is there a good hosting company with an all-inclusive service that you could recommend (that would get me a private hosting plan + a private domain name/whois)? And that would be reasonably priced of course + more importanty reliable (note have problems if/when there is a massive traffic surge to my site at one point in time)
Would probably take a shared hosting plan - need only PHP and imagemagick to start with. But again - bit part of my concern is what happens if the project makes it big and there is a lot of traffic - so ideally "unlimited" bandwidth and responsive admins...
I just got an email from LT, Their price are increased so much..
I've more that 10 servers with them and I think I will move to other provider, If the price and support are better..
Good morning. I have been a customer of Rackspace for approximately 2 years. I love their level of service. However, I'm paying $475 for a dedicated server with the following specs:
Single AMB Athlon 64 3200+ 2.0Ghz, 1B RMD, 80GB HDD
Are there less expensive alternatives that provide similar level of support as Rackspace?
We are a web design firm and we provide hosting for our customers who design their websites with us, we do not promote ourselves as a web hosting company. We are in the market for years and the most thing that confuses us is the hosting problems. Server problems when occur take all of our human resources (we are a small company) and that affects our other (main) work which is web development.
We've tried a lot of reseller then VPS providers, each provider will experience some problems even after a long time of stability.
Sorry for the long introduction but it was necessary to let you know what exactly I want. I know Rackspace from a long time and I was happy when I found out that they are providing a new service (mosso.com) especially for web design firms, they provide 80 GB of disk space with their zero-downtime network and other cool features for $100 monthly which I think is very affordable compared with Rackspace's reputation even it's more than what I pay for my current provider but I'm really looking for stability that makes me concentrate on designing and programming. The problem is that they told me that their customers must have a U.S bank account which we don't have.
Can you suggest companies that provide same quality services with affordable prices (reseller or VPS)
I run a company in the UK that has about 10 dedicated servers, such as db and web servers.
I also have a SAN device with data of around 1.3tb
Been a customer with rackspace for last 3 years and am now shopping around for better value for money.
With rackspace you pay a premium for support but the charges are becoming astronomical and I also feel that they dont look after you concerning price after becoming a customer.
Is there a rackspace alternative that can cope with 4tb of san data, 100mb unmetered and unlimited bandwidth running on an internal gigabit network?
I am looking at the higher end bracket and dont mind the solution being hosted in the US or UK.
I'm on an unmanaged dedicated so i'm trying to figure out how to install a free cPanel so I can set up some mail servers...
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've had my servers with The Planet for years. Used to be really happy with them. Ever since the merger, they seem to have deteriorated over time. Recently, I find the level of support to have become poor.
The redeeming quality is that they have had outstanding uptime over all of these years, and they are always there if you need them in a true emergency - in other words, they always pick up the phone.
I need a company that is comparable in their level of staffing and resources. Who out there is comparable, yet providing better support and overall attitude these days and for the long-haul?
I'm an happy client of HOSTGATOR (until now!)
But for safety reasons and in order to manage the way I want my network of sites, sales pages and blogs, I'm looking for an alternative to HOSTGATOR.
Requirements : same prices, CPanel, Fantastico, adult content allowed (because I'm also into dating)
Nothing wrong with AP7960. Just wondering if there is other vendors have PDU likes AP7960?

I wish to block scripts to send outbound mail without going into my SMTP (so I can scan them and block them). I cannot block outbound port 25 and since I'm into a Virtuozzo VPS, I cannot use SMTP_BLOCK.
What can I do?
I'm using CSF and MailScanner.
