Access DirectAdmin Site Without Domain - Possible With CPanel
Mar 7, 2009
I'm new to using directadmin and I've got a problem; I've not yet switched the DNS over to the directadmin server 'cause I want to make sure the sites work first, however I can't find how to view the sites. With cpanel you can go to http://192.168.1.1/~username (where 192.168.1.1 = IP of server and username is username of account).
is this possible with directadmin? I can't find anything about it, anywhere.
I have a reseller account that is hosted at ns1 / ns2.mydomain.com and it is configured via cPanel / WHM and is accessed by mydomain.com
I recently purchased a dedicated server and would like the dedicated server to have a ns3 / ns4.mydomain.com I also would like that the dedicated server be accessed by another domain (other than mydomain.com). Is this possible?
If that is not possible, what way is a good way of doing this?
I get the following error when let my site connect to my database: Access denied for user 'apache'@'localhost' (using password: NO)
But when im running lil test script which connect to my localhost with the same passwords and it gives the status 'Connection OK' (im running on admin account, made a MySQL account with DA)
Code:
<?php $link = mysql_connect('localhost','admin_removed','removed'); if (!$link) { die('Could not connect to MySQL: ' . mysql_error()); } echo 'Connection OK'; mysql_close($link); ?>
I've been trying to get some domains parked using DirectAdmin's domain pointers. I've searched for threads about this on Google, and followed the instructions. I go to Domain Pointers -> Add New Domain Pointer. I put the domain into the form field (leaving 'Create as Alias' checked) and click Add. I've waited for a few days to make sure there were no caching problems, and the domains still didn't resolve. The nameservers on my domain registrar are set correctly. I've parked domains before on CPanel and it worked just fine.
I've got DirectAdmin installed, and my domain name (misacampo.org) hosted with XeoDomains.com.
I'm wondering how I set up my DNS so that whenever I point more domains to my VPS their DNS will be set to ns1.misacampo.com and ns2.misacampo.com.
Would it be as simple as pointing my domain to my VPS IP, then setting up this in DirectAdmin?:
Add Zone Domain Name: IP Address: Name Server 1: Name Server 2:
Would I enter: Add Zone Domain Name: misacampo.org IP Address: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx Name Server 1: ns1.misacampo.org Name Server 2: ns1.misacampo.org
Then point my domain to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, and set it up my domain at XeoDomains.com like so:
Add New Child Name Server Host Name: ns1.misacampo.org Ip Address: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
and
Add New Child Name Server Host Name: ns2..misacampo.org Ip Address: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
Would this work? I'm looking to do a quick shift from my old CPS (LXAdmin) to my new VPS (DirectAdmin) with at little downtime as possible. Do I need to set up any other records for the domain for my email accounts to work, or would DirectAdmin take care of all this?
I have migrated my accounts from resller account of site5 to vps account to wiredtree... But I have a problem now. In site5, when I use their reseller option each domain owner could access their cpannel simply by http://www.pr.web.tr/cpanel and other user also can access http://url.gen.tr/cpanel etc... the good thing if the owner is the same, he/she can use both account in the same browser in different tabs and even browsers can sace the password to reach those accounts seperately...
but in vps account in wiredtree, when user try to access http://www.pr.web.tr/cpanel the server redirects it https://host.ucuzhosting.net:2083 so it doesnt matter which domain he/she tried to connects, the server redirects them to this domain... so:
it is not possible to access the ditterent cpanels at the same time using same tabbed browser anymore.
the passowrd can not be stored on browsers either, since there isn't any domain... only the resller account panel here. so for each new domain cpanel access the password keepers only update the new password...
There must be someway to configure the access of each domains cpanel throeugh their own domain name... but couldnt figure it out...
We found 502 Bad Gateway error Nginx on multiple domain "currently troissoeursetunfrere.com is a wordpress site e-commerce" and also malittleboutique.com ecommerce wordpress, possibly to fix this problem we have followed this tutorial " [URL] ....
On average, how much memory does cpanel use when compared to a standard directadmin setup?
I've never had a chance to use directadmin before, but I've been reading quite a bit about it around the web and that it uses much less memory than cpanel.
Anyone used both? Which is better for VPS hosting?
It appears that I may have my access blocked from my home network to my web site. I was attempting to set up a POP email account the other night on the server. Since then, I have not been able to access my domain name through ANY of my browsers.
Also, I cannot log-in via FTP. I also tried from my iPod touch on my wireless network at home, no access.
I was able to access and FTP today at work. I also can access on my blackberry. How is this possible?
I woke up this morning to find I wasn't able to access my domain based email or my website. So I figured I would check with my host, (www.hostpc.com), and I was unable to access them, also.
I had someone else from a remote location and PC check and they can access hostpc as well as my website.
"Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /home/nicsad/domains/updownloading.com/public_html/include/kernel/crontab.php on line 0"
when I try to access my site.
The error accured after I "optimized" (yeah sure) Im killing my self, lol, the file /etc/httpd/conf/extra/httpd-mpm.conf and restarted the server, I am on a dedicated server, Linux Centos 5 with DirecAdmin panel.
First it worked, there was no problem at all, then after 5-15 minutes I got the above error?
What is weird is that all other websites I have on the server works fine, it only this one which doesnt work:
updownloading com
And what is more weird is that the temporary index.html file I have uploaded is accessible?
but the normal index.php file which my website use is not.
All worked perfect without problem before but now I get the above error.
Please again help, I promise after this time I wont "optmizing" anything Why cant I just be satisfied and stop mendling with what I dont know.
I recieve around 400-500 visitors a day so I hope you can help me fix this problem.
I have a direct admin server and I am planning to take backup of all the accounts in my DA server to my friend server. This is just for safety precautions.
I have heard that Direct Admin is much faster then cpanel & require much less resources then cpanel... I was just wondering if I get vps with 128 ram with Direct admin on it, would it be better than vps with 256 ram with cpanel installed... I am running 3 websites with almost 10 to 20 users at a time (at max 50).... I like both cpanel & directadmin but was thinking if 128 ram with DirectAdmin can give more speed on 128 then I won't spend more money on 256 with cpanel... If anybody have an opinion then please put it here...
