servage.net is Broke down?... NO Dummy! They just changed their business to be SCAM
I am writing this to just let other friends here to be aware of this scam, they used to be host providers and now they've just become SCAM.
So my experience story goes like this:
Some days ago I ordered a 6month plan and paid by VCC, And got an email from them saying that my order is declined due to VCC not charged so I checked the balance of VCC and just knew that my poor little VCC is charged 45$ by this Green Giant named servage, So I let them know asap, I emailed back and told them to re-check and now it is days (5 days actually) that I am sending daily mails to Mr.Servage Scam and All I've gotten to now is nothing (actualy they don't respond anymore) wish they be alive at least (is it war or something running in their country? )
I really got disappointed at them I thought that since they have been in business for some time they can be reliable (at least at selling), However I just wrote back in here to let others know that servage.net is actually broke down or at least changed his hosting business to become a fast reliable scam (perhaps more profitable, who knows?)
All I wanted was a simple sweat hosting plan for my friend.
BTW If any of servage.net staff is here: Hey man that's not necessary to do illegal actions! Let's face it you need money? right? OK just put a donation button in the homepage and take my word on this always some good people exist out there to donate some bucks to you ( I will donate you too ), just don't be like this, this is shame.
I'm thinking over filling a dispute against them right now. Who know perhaps some days they respond back (At least I can re-check my email every day till next 50 years)

We have been with servage.net for a few months now & have been having lots of issues with emails bouncing, web sites unavailable, very slow, support staff who ignore requests for help etc. etc. etc.
I have posted about them in these forums before.
For the last day the web site they host for us oznotes.net has been "missing", we cant login to cpanel, we have emailed they via the address on there page servage.net & got no reply – but this is typical, they have our money and dont seem to care!
We paid for 12 months hosting in advance
Does anyone know whats happening with them, I rang the TIO – Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman & they cant help with hosting companies.

do Dedicated Server hosting plans always allow for unlimited domains?"
It would be great if it was so, but I have NO idea if it is that way. My common sense says "of course stupid, you have the whole box for yourself", but my guts tell me I should know better before assuming it.

suphp and spent the better part of the day configuring a new server and then upgrading it to suphp in preparation for a migration next week.
However, I broke the links to var/www/html in the process and I don't know at what point it broke to know how to fix it.
I have a couple of links that usually work to this directory:
lax.powermonster.net/test.bin
and
[url]
Both of which now come up to a 404 error from my main site: powermonster.net.

I logged into my email to check for my nightly logwatch report (at 12am).
Nothing.
So I log into ssh and manually run it, get greeted with this:
You have old files in your logwatch tmpdir (/var/cache/logwatch):
logwatch.zcTV3hC0
The directories listed above were most likely created by a
logwatch run that failed to complete successfully. If so, you
may delete these directories.
I last ran logwatch around 10:30pm, it worked fine.
I try to run logwatch again, same error.. except now there's another temp file showing beneath the first.
I go ahead and delete both of them, run logwatch again...it worked. I also got the other reports from when I tried running logwatch manually and was stopped with this error.
I've never had this happen before, so I'm curious as to what caused it? Logwatch is in cron.daily and has never missed a single report.
Just typical data corruption (as can happen with any computer file) or could something have interfered with its processing at 12?

I backed a system up with rsync, and just used rsync to copy it into a new machine... I just backed up / to my home directory on another machine, and then 'extracted' it to / on the new machine.
But now everything (and I mean everything) is owned by "matt", my user on the intermediate machine. I rebooted the system to get it to boot the new stuff without realizing this, and now it's not booting... Since /etc/passwd, /bin/bash, etc. aren't owned by root.
Any tips on where to go from here? As I said, it's a brand-new machine (VM, actually: even better!), so re-imaging is a solution, but I'd still have to copy the data back over. Reinstalling is a pain, though, so if there's a simple fix, I'd prefer that. I've got pygrub installed as a boot manager for the VM, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get into single-user mode. (Nor am I sure that a "cd /; chown -R root" will have the desired effect?)

I ran Hijack this and fixed a few errors it listed in a Windows 2003 Server. I rebooted the server, but now when I attempt to login via remote desktop it logs in, but then immediately logs me out.
I am guessing HiJackThis deleted a required dll or .exe needed for Terminal Services. Do you guys have any idea how I can restore this, and undo what hijackthis did?

I searched the forum, couldn't find this issue. One user cannot log into their horde. They said they just kept being taken back to the login page.
So I got their cpanel login and logged in myself. The same thing happened to me when I tried to get into horde.
I use webmail on the same server and don't have that issue in my own account, and I haven't received any other complaints.
I repaired horde database, reset horde, and updated horde. None of those fixed the issue. what is wrong with this one account?

I just ran a simple yum update php on the server, because I need to be running 5.2 instead of 5.1.6
The update went smoothly, so I restarted httpd, and all hell broke loose. Apache can't start because of a whole lot of missing modules. So I commented out every single LoadModule line to see if that would get it to start, and it started complaining about the configuration file of some other software being incorrect (because that configuration file pointed to some module that no longer exists)
At one point I was able to get apache to start, I believe by copying my old configuration file to httpd.conf and then commenting out some lines that it was complaining about. Apache started, but no pages were loading.
So right now, basically, I've got no web service running at all on the server. I really didn't expect all of these problems for a simple PHP update, but obviously I was mistaken.
Is it worth trying to fix this myself (intermediate linux user here) or would it just be easier to hire someone to come in and do it for me?

According to de Plesk Administrator Guide and according to the kb article: [URL] ...., Plesk Panel is suitable to enable multiple php versions After I performed the steps mentioned in the kb article, all seemed fine until somehow php-cgi and php-fcgi broke down after
Code:
# service httpd restart
After this event, all websites hosted on this particular the server only work running php as an apache module.
I am running Pleks Panel 12.0.18 #7 on top of CenOs 6.5 on this particular server, which means php version 5.3.3 is installed by default. PHP 5.3.3 also is was the php version for the "custom: false" php handlers (id's: cgi, fastcgi, module). Somehow all php handlers look like this:
Code:

Last week I bought hosting in servage.net .Everything is ok there except one very "small" thing - very often my site during loading breaks down (I get blank page). I three times asked servage for help. It's great that their reaction is very fast but despite their statements that problem is fixed it's again and again my page break down.
is it possible that problem exists because my site is based on Jommla 1.5? I have tried and to use servage auto installer and manually installed joomla.
I have found so many praises about servage that cannot understand why is wrong with my site?

Servage is the worst webhosting I have ever hosted with. From continuous cluster problems to stupid billing issues.
When my website is not giving a 404 error there are mysql problems.
This is a hard lesson learnt. I will never recommend or host with them again.
I wired them $90.30 for balance due since July. My banking institution even gave me the reference number and other transaction details. The funds never returned to my account. To this date their dumb billing department cannot locate the payment. When I contact supported they continually gave some cryptic message that is of no help. I forwarded them screenshots of my bank account and even gave the reference numbers provided by my banking instition, still no dice, account suspended.
To add insult to injury they added another period of webhosting to my balance owed so it now totals $180.60 owed and I lost revenue from my search campaigns.
STAY AWAY FROM SERVAGE.NET. THEY ARE NOT WORTH IT.

They now have got to the point were they are trying to tell me that files that have a date of 2007 are really 2008.
Basically this screen shot
oznotes.net/0-news-20-jul-07.PNG
details that web pages I created are dated 2007 and also the screenshot servage created, yes that is right, they created a screenshot & it is dated 2007 you can see this file & date in my screenshot.
oznotes.net/Screenshot.jpg
is dated 2007.
But I must be a fool, I am putting up with this crap, well not anymore!

company for over a month or 2
contacting them (support tickets) is as useless as not!..
their reply is always simply: we checked and nothing at our side! (asking for a clarification simply gets u nothing!)
problem is simply ONLY with ftp uploads!
my line upstream is 256Kbps (32 KB/sec) and down 1Mbps and i was always capable of pushing up to 2.2 GB/day ((i monitor my traffic all the time))
but just recently some weird things started appearing...
before uploads would never go under 27-26 KBs on my FTP client
now it's so normal finding it dropping to 15,10,4,2, 0!
ya a whole 0!
and that's not just for a second or two
it can stay like that for maybe aminute then go up back again!
And upon watching my traffic statistics closely, i found myself pushing at the most 1.6 GB only a day!
another funny thing is that files used to appear AND PARTIALLY in the root directory instead of the desired directory!
so WHAT IS UP!

I just wanted to forewarn ANY considering signing up with Servage, LOOK ELSEWHERE! They may be cheap, and they may be offshore (the reason I had chosen them), but they are probably the *worst* web host in business today.
I have been a customer with them for 2 years and here is an itemized list of issues with Servage to date (this doesn't include the issues Servage actually resolved):
- 1 month after signup, Servage experienced a DDoS; all their customers lost all their e-mails for a 72 hour period
- 8 TIMES in the past year, I've had to contact their support because my websites PING requests would consistently time out and the pages not load leading me to actually setup an account with SiteUptime (BTW, they NEVER made anything faster, they always would blame me, even on a static HTML site with no more than 2 simultaneous users)
- Servage advertises 99.98% uptime, my results from SiteUptime for the past 6 months has revealed to me that my actual uptime is about 93.1%, this is TERRIBLE, the worst in the industry in my opinion
- a month ago, every site on my Servage account had redirects to porn or spyware: my passwords are always a mix of foreign characters, uppercase, lowercase, numbers and no shorter than 8 characters. Servage tells me to delete all the files myself and change my passwords. They refuse to accept the responsibility that a hacker got into their master control panel
- They are HOLDING MY DOMAIN HOSTAGE! I made the mistake of signing up my main .com (all the others are with GoDaddy) with them since 1 domain was free with hosting for the life of my account. There is NO WAY they allow you to transfer this domain! They only let you DELETE it (then you have to wait for it to expire, backorder, etc. and chance losing your domain)
There are so many more issues that I could go over, but I think I've made my point.
If you're thinking Servage, I'd recommend you stay away!
There ARE other offshore hosts...

We've been hacked, again. By we, I mean, many many servage clients as far as I can tell. Unlike past Javascript injections, this time it is much more serious, at least to me anyhow. Here is what I know:
Somehow, someone has gained full access to my (and again, many others) control panel on servage.net.
While on there, they have generously created their own ftp accounts with full access.
Every website I host with servage had a number of files uploaded to them.
These files consisted of one or more .htaccess files that contained a number of rewrites pointing to the other files they uploaded.
The new files were actually cleverly hidden inside other directories where they would go unnoticed. For example, on some of my sites that have forums, they were put into /forum/include/tmp/(bogus files), and in my galleries, put into such directories as /images/photos/(bogus files).
The files themselves are as follows:
a .htaccess file
css.js
keys.txt
links.txt
main.php
texts.txt
and tpl.php
The links.txt file itself is over 1.9mb and contains links to hundreds of other infected SERVAGE hosted websites ( I have checked at least 30 of them in whois.org and found all are hosted at servage).
Here is an example of the links.txt file:
chipandachair.co.uk/language/include/include/topic~3312.html|black break spring
chipandachair.co.uk/language/include/include/topic~1562.html|free exploited black teens
ra4prints.co.uk/inc/forum/style/group~190.html|nudist photographys
ra4prints.co.uk/inc/forum/style/group~3827.html|my nudist links
And so on and so forth.
Keys.txt is a giant list of pornographic phrases and texts.txt is just random phrases in general.
I have contacted servage about this multiple times and have gotten their basic cookie cutter response of please remove the files from all your websites, change all your passwords and delete the new ftp accounts created. I asked them point blank if they've been hacked and they've continued to say no.
If you are a servage customer, make SURE you log into your control panel RIGHT NOW and check to see if new ftp accounts have been created. After that, look at your website statistics and click on DISPLAYED PAGES and look for odd entries like /blabla.html/links?12982.html or some such thing and pay attention to where the link is showing up (What directory) which will help you remove all of the crap someone put on there.
This is very serious guys... as I said, someone had full access to my Control panel. With that, they could enter into any of my sql databases, fully see all the passwords to each database (as servage kindly shows your password to anyone when you click on connection information) not to mention any sensitive customer data I may have had stored in my databases.
This hack also kills your website in a number of ways:
1) It tries to redirect any page on your site to the index.php uploaded to your site which then directs you to porn sites.
2) This hack spams over 3000 links to google every day, coming from your website, leading to sites that are deemed bad by google. This ruins your page rank and your site, as some of mine have since I missed this latest attack for 2 weeks, will go down the drain.
3) WHen someone googles your website, it will come up with tons of porn links. My daughters site was one of the infected ones... she's 9, and when you look up her site it shows that it goes to porn.
let me know if you've been targeted as well and what we, if anything, can do about it. Servage NEEDS to admit they've been hacked, in fact, the damage to my businesses because of their failure to notify my of these events seems like it should be on their shoulders.

Lunar pages is a scam
DO NOT USE Lunarpages
From Me to Support I noticed that my inodes are set abnormally low to 200,000 we just upgraded to VPS plan per lunars request at we are at 160,000 on second day of operation on new vps server. From Sarwan singh Jassi to siteadmin(ME) When you reach 200,000 inodes you will need to upgrade to dedicated plan However and Email from the sales guy states the following. We do not force upgrades do to inodes, we just increase your inodes as you need them. Server crashes occur all the time about 1-3 times a month. Do not use lunar
They also run the old 90's upgrade scam, they claim your script utilize high resources for php, mysql.
Their claim
CPU%: 3.15
MEM%: 1.70
MySQL: 0.9
Top Process %CPU 50.0 /usr/bin/php
Top Process %CPU 48.0 /usr/bin/php
Top Process %CPU 44.0 /usr/bin/php
After fighting with these people telling them that their server is configured incorrectly because we have load tested each and every script and that these scripts are used on 1000's of sites and the traffic we have does NOT warrent the useage they claim we went a head and upgraded per their recommendation.
So we get a brand new vps plan(see complaint above) and on the VPS server our usages look totally normal with proves they don't know what they are doing.
Directly from Pesky Plesk on the second day of getting our upgrade
CPU%: 0.15
MEM%: 0.19
MySQL: 0.2
Top Process %CPU 17.0 /usr/bin/php
Top Process %CPU 19.0 /usr/bin/php
Top Process %CPU 15.0 /usr/bin/php

I'll tell you my story right now. I got the VPS and they charged me $60. The page didn't even look like a paypal page and I didn't know when I went through the order process that I have been charged. They accepted my payment even though they had the radio button that said first month a dollar. They even didn't have cpanel installed at first! They gave me the email and I had to contact them to install cpanel! They have this stupid contrat thing and they will take you to a collection agency for failure of the billing system that they have. It says DO NOT MAKE PAYMENT! but how can you tell? They are a complete total scam! The vps firewall was dropped for no reason during the morning. I asked why and they left the chat. They have good VPS if you got the extra $59 to cover the beginning.

Simply stated - BoxVPS is a scam. Do not succumb to their offers, no matter how attractive they might seem. This is apparently just another in a long line of scams appearing with startling frequency on WHT. This phenomenom makes it difficult to give new hosts a try.

I am a very diplomatic person and I believe in doing fair business. This is why I've decided to write this post in your forums as well as my own and a few others. I want to share with the world our horrible experience with Server4you.de in hopes of saving the rest of you from their lies.
I am not one to openly bash people online but I feel the need to spare all of you from falling victim to this company!
In order to offer the most stable listening experience to all of you, we needed to add another European server. Doing a little research in Google, we fell on Server4you.de (a German company).
Here is an example of what they promote (in German):
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3400+,
DualCore 64 Bit,
1.024 MB DDR2-RAM
1x 160 GB SATA-HDD
Betriebssystem: OpenSuSE,
Fedora, Ubuntu und Debian
Plesk 8.2 - 10 Domains
Unbegrenzter Datentransfer (which means unlimited datatransfer)
Kostenloser Support per
E-Mail und 0800-Hotline
Before hand, we verified with them that the unlimited datatransfer package was accessible for streaming. Most companies don't allow this so it is always the first question to ask. They confirmed that there was no problem at all!
Well, after 2 months of service with them, they are telling us that we must limit our datatransfer to 75GB/day or 2TB/month. You might think that this is already a lot but this is standard for most dedicated servers and this suddenly makes them pretty expensive (even for North-American standards). Note that European bandwidth is known to be significantly cheaper than North-American bandwidth.
This was one of the few times I've had to sign a contract for hosting. So for the next year, I'm stuck paying for cheap/mediocre quality bandwidth that's suddenly not even unmetered anymore! I would walk away from them if I could (contract or no contract, I don't care) but since we're outside Germany, they made us pay for 12 month in advance. So if I want to get anything out of that money, I have no choice to use their low grade bandwidth.
Basically, consider yourself warned! Don't do business with Server4you!
They actually disconnected our servers without warning or even messaging us because we had apparently reached this new bandwidth quota which had never been mentioned in the past!
