How's WorldStream Netherlands?
Nov 24, 2008Anyone had any experience with "WorldStream.nl" in the Netherlands?
Their price is right, hopefully the service is too.
Anyone had any experience with "WorldStream.nl" in the Netherlands?

I was wondering if anyone here had experiences with the Pittock over here in Portland, Oregon. We need more space, so we are looking to get a few full cabinets and fill them up with large dell servers. Anyone used them before, how are they? I read a few threads here about them but none of them explained their service.
I am going to schedule a tour in the new couple weeks to get the feel of the datacenter.
Also if you guys have the phone number for the colo guy can you PM it to me, he left me a voice mail awhile back with this phone# but I don't think I kept it.
Let me start off by saying I'm not here to trash TheNYNOC or anything of the sort, in fact they've been fairly pleasant to me sofar. But I'm wondering if anyone else is having problems with the recently advertised E7200 dedicated server special they've been advertising here at WHT?
When I first ordered my server a couple of weeks ago it was delayed an extra couple of days because they were having problems with the E7200 Core 2 Duos getting along with the motherboards they were using - no big deal, I know from experience that the E7200 is a great little C2D but it can be a real booger with certain motherboards. (Some boards still can't handle the new 45nm cores) But they finally got my server delivered and BOY was it FAST compared to my old Celeron 2.4ghz that I had at ExistHosting (now GoGax). I was one HAPPY camper.
Well tonight I come home from a party to dozens of emails from people saying half of my sites are down, email isn't responding, etc. Upon logging into the server I quickly discover that there is an apparent hardware failure of MASSIVE proportions going on. Half of the files on the server were missing, what was still there was corrupt, and almost every basic linux command resulted in a nasty I/O error.
Code:
Last login: Fri Aug 15 23:23:29 2008 from XXxxxx.swbell.net
[root@hammond ~]# fsck
-bash: /sbin/fsck: Input/output error
[root@hammond ~]# shutdown now
-bash: /sbin/shutdown: Input/output error
[root@hammond ~]# vi
Vim: Caught deadly signal BUS
Vim: Finished.
Bus error
[root@hammond ~]#
Before Vim completelystopped working I also spotted some errors in /var/log/messages complaining about a couple of bad sectors on /dev/sda1 and /dev/sda2 so I suppose I could have just gotten a bad HDD... I dunno though something seems weird.
So I'm wondering, has anyone else with this particular server from TheNYNoc been having problems after a few weeks, or am I just unlucky? Hopefully it's just a bad drive and not some weird exotic problem with the E7200 + mobo combination. I don't fancy having to setup my server a THIRD time in the next few weeks. A second time is going to be bad enough.
Dang it, I just had everything perfect the way I like it too.
I've been having a server from worldstream.nl for few months now, during the first months everything was good.
Now, during the last two months my server has been offline every week for hours. I Asked them to give me a new server because there are clearly some hardware problems. They didn't. They instead installed my debian os again. 4 days after the new installation, the server is offline again. I asked them to replace the server again, no success. They instead replied "Have you checked your error logs?".
It's a bit difficult to check the error logs if the server is offline.
A while ago, I was on the lookout to rent a dedicated server and I stumbled upon Worldstream.
I looked through their servers and I did not find anything that matched my specifications and budget. I sent them an email with my specifications and within three hours I got a quote that matched my budget. +1 for Worldstream to reply very fast.Setup: I ordered the server in the morning (IST 10 AM) and I specifically asked them to install a custom grsec kernel for me.
When I checked my mail again at IST 7 PM, the same day - there was a mail to say that the server had been setup along with the login details. I logged in and saw that my custom grsec kernel was also installed and running. The grsec kernel install came FREE.
Wonderful.I have been using the server for three months now.Stability and speed: The server has been very stable and there was no unplanned down time. The speed is good too.Communication: Communication with Worldstream, esp with Lennert, the account manager has been excellent so far. There was only one planned maintenance when their network supplier had to do some maintenance but that was done quickly. However, my server was down for a couple of hours more, because some one forgot to add my server's IP to the new VLAN. A call to Lennert solved that and he apologized and assured me that will not happen again.
After this, there has not been any downtime or problem.Flexibility: Worldstream is very flexible when it comes to your specifications. Unlike many other providers, they provide servers with your custom hardware specifications. No fuss about it.
My server came with 4 GB RAM. Yesterday, I asked them whether they can reduce the RAM to 2 GB and accordingly modify billing. Immediately the RAM was reduced and the billing was modified.
Then I asked them whether they could upgrade me to a gigabit port and accordingly bill me.
No problem they said and they completed it in about an hour. In an hour, the server was moved to a gigabit port and the billing was adjusted. Cool.
Billing has been very clean so far and I have NO problems.
These three months have been very smooth, communication has been good and the server works very well by our Lord's Grace.
Worldstream is a very straightforward, flexible and no-nonsense provider. I am sure that I will continue to host there for a long time to come.
Here is the link to a speed test from my server:[url]
Please test and let me know the speed you are getting and your location.
The domains I host on this server are:[url]
Does anbybody has any experience with WorldStream datacenter?
View 4 Replies View RelatedOk here is the scenario.
Day 1 - Ordered server, agreed price and spec and installation date. Quoted 3 days setup time.
Day 3 - I was told need an extra day to setup this I said is fine.
Day 4 - server is setup but is missing 2 drives and only has half the ram I ordered. I email them to tell them this.
Day 6 - They finally respond to my email and tell me they have fixed the missing drives and ram they also offer me 10 days free as compensation. The problem is now the server is completely down, doesnt even respond to ping.
Day 7 - I email them to tell them server down and I now want a refund, I offer to accept a partial refund to compensate them for manual work involved in setting up server. (412 euros paid 350 euros refund), this offer made in goodwill so resolve quickly. 2nd proposal sent later for only 300 euro refund.
Day 9 (today) - No reply whatsoever and server still offline I raise a paypal dispute and within 1 hour I get a email telling me they agree to my 2nd proposal (only 300 euro refund) however they want me to cancel paypal dispute first.
I have read the paypal dispute policy and I see if I were to cancel the dispute and they then not refund me I have nothing since I cannot reopen the dispute, whilst if he were to refund me and I was to try and scam him he would have a strong case as paypal have the refund logged so he has far less to worry about. So I am not cancelling the dispute and even offered to set it to 300 euros but he says if I dont cancel the dispute I get no refund.
Just want to know peoples thoughts on this, consider I never have had the server I ordered working, its currently completely down and he was ignoring me until I raised the dispute which doesnt put his trustworthyness very high.
The provider is worldstream.nl

We've been reading this site for awhile a colleague, who is a member, suggested we post a request here. We are looking for a NETHERLANDS-based dedicated server hosting company (which, obviously means a Netherlands datacenter) for our single dedicated server. We're not interested in hosting companies based in other countries but offering NL servers; just those that are NL based.
Our business is perfectly legal (as explained below) and we have neither the time nor inclination to debate the merits of our needs and would appreciate respect for that position (as we have read some of the reactions to such requests by US members for non-US servers and many have been less than respectful).
That said, here are three NL providers we're NOT interested in:
Leaseweb. That is based largely on a recent post in which they indicated they shut down servers with little notice if they get even one, even unsubstantiated, complaint about a TOS violation but also because we've read nightmare stories about how they treat small businesses and individual customers. Apparently, they've become too big for small accounts and our business server is as mission-critical to us as their big business clients. We need a provider that respects small business.
Server Boost. We have a VPS with them (we won't say under which domain name or IP address) but are still trying to work out the kinks in that rather new relationship so won't use them for our dedi at this time. That VPS will be the slave to our dedi.
i3D.net. They are our current dedi provider with whom we have a Rackserver but it isn't working out for a variety of reasons, the most important being we have no remote access control panel or power management. Right now, we are required to pay for OS reinstalls and just about anything else we need that's not a simple reboot. We don't necessarily believe they are a bad provider and don't want to malign them but our experience with them makes us disinclined to upgrade to a Dell server (and we are "anti-Dell" because of our personal experiences with Dell, anyway). We don't believe most customers feel this way about since their offerings are certainly suitable for most needs.
Therefore, we're looking for different alternatives from Leaseweb, i3D and Server Boost that are reputable, provide high-quality servers and solid, English-speaking, tech support at a reasonable monthly price. (We liked, for example, what OVH was offering but their NL site is in Dutch, only, and we don't want a UK server.)
What we now have:
* Intel Quadcore 2.4 Ghz CPU
* 2 GB DDR2 RAM
* 500 GB HDD (non-RAID)
* max 1000 mbit connection
* 2000 GB traffic
* 10+ IP addresses
* Full root access
* SSH access
* Netherlands company/NL datacenter
* Unmanaged
* No hosting control panel
* Upgradeable RAM, B/W, IP addresses, etc.
* Full hardware SLA
What we MUST have:
* Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.4+ Ghz CPU
* 4 GB DDR2 RAM (upgradeable to 8 GB, if nec.)
* 160+ GB HDD (RAID isn't necessary if single HD)
* max 1000 mbit connection
* 250-500 GB traffic p/m
* 15 IP addresses
* Full root/ SSH access
* IMPERATIVE: Remote access control panel with power control and ability to complete repair and maintenance tasks and OS reinstalls remotely WITHOUT having to contact Tech Support or pay for such services**
* Netherlands company/NL datacenter ONLY
* CentOS 5.3 x86_64 Linux (minimal) installed
* Full virtualization capability
* Unmanaged
* NO hosting control panel
* Upgradeable RAM, B/W, IP addresses, etc. as well as to a newer/larger dedi in first 30-days of contract without paying setup fees
* Full hardware SLA
* Responsive, English-speaking tech support, preferably 24/7** by email or phone and response within several hours
* TOS/Privacy Policies/Legal Policies available in English without the "Dutch only" terms valid caveat
* Server/order details available in English
* Fully itemized invoices available upon request
* Server provisioned and ready-to-use within 24-48 hours after payment clears (must be guaranteed in writing)
* MONTHLY contract (with NO 30-day advanced notice cancellation clause**) and PayPal as payment option
(**Lack of these important features is why we're switching providers.)
Prospective providers should be clear that this server is for our completely legal, US-based businesses that represent high-profile individuals engaged in legal business activities themselves. We will host several websites and blogs that are business-oriented and targeted to them, C-suite decision-makers who contract for our services and their audiences.
Our sites will contain NO adult content (legal or otherwise, whether it's called porn, erotica, or whatever), warez, torrents, copyrighted material for which we don't have permission to post/use, or overtly controversial materials like anti-government, hate speech, etc. We won't be spamming, phishing or doing IRC. We will not market to or represent clients who engage in such activities, even if legal in their jurisdiction.
We are not going to be hosting others' websites and our sites/blogs aren't expected to generate excessively high traffic. We use IP addresses for NS purposes and other purposes for which separate IP addresses are needed. So, we won't need DDoS or similar protection.
Our budget is €125.
Please give us your hosting-provider (only) suggestions. We'd prefer only recommendations of NL-based providers you've used. SERIOUS responses only; due to time constraints, we're forced to ignore any responses that don't adhere to our request for provider recommendations or attempt to debate the merits or our needs.
I want to know what are the top 2 dedicated server providers in Netherlands. I don't want leaseweb, i want to move away from they. Their support are the worst.
View 9 Replies View RelatedOne of my clients is currently experiencing trouble with their current host and are searching for a new VPS host.
5 Things to know.
Budget: $60 USD per month
Network: We-Dare (no leaseweb or ecatel)
Transfer: 200GB+
Memory: 512MB+
Control Panel: DirectAdmin
The host they are currently with is InfiniteTech, if they don't work out their differences I will post the whole story but for now will give InfiniteTech the benefit of the doubt.
On the contrary, if somebody is offering a Dedicated (low-end [celeron, 1gb ram]) for $80/m or under we will gladly listen too.
speedtest capable of atleast 1gbit (my server is faster than this supposedly) in NL
(prefer not to use my hosts test file)
can be a test or a test file...
doesn't require flash, I can't seem to get it working on iceweasle
We're considering signing a colo deal with leaseweb that will land us in either easynet or schuberg philis.
