Error Message With Yum Update

I keep getting this error whenever I try to update my packages which prevents me from doing any updates. Anyone have any idea how to solve this?

Yum Update Producing Error
I started a yum update on one of my VPS accounts. Halfway through the update I lost the connection to the server (Part of FDC's routing troubles...)

Now that FDC is back up and running smoothly, I logged in and when I do a yum update, it refreshes the repositories like it should, but then throws this error:

Quote:

--> Running transaction check
--> Processing Dependency: yum = 3.0.3-1.fc6 for package: yum-updatesd
--> Finished Dependency Resolution
Error: Missing Dependency: yum = 3.0.3-1.fc6 is needed by package yum-updatesd

Hopefully there's an easy way to go about fixing it..

Using Yum To Update
I have two packages in Centos 5.3 that refuse to update via YUM. Coreutils and Findutils.

coreutils.i386 0:5.97-19.el5
findutils.i386 1:4.2.27-5.el5

The error code returned is:
error: unpacking of archive failed on file /usr/bin/find: cpio: rename
error: unpacking of archive failed on file /bin/ls: cpio: rename

I checked that the files are not immutable via chattr and that I am logged in as root. The directory is also writeable.

I can't remove them or change their permissions.

Any idea on how to force an upgrade? I checked with the support at Cpanel but they had no idea how to fix it and were less than helpful.

YUM Update
I am researching how to upgrade my server, I have already tested #yum update and seen all the patches and upgrades that could be made for my server. My question is that by upgrading all these (mysql, php, etc) do i need to backup all my mysql databases or should the upgrade not affect my databases?

I installed QmailToaster from this url:

and I replaced bind with djbdns-localcache*.rpm.

Seems it causes the problem.

What should I do now?

This Error Message
My server has been running fine for months and then I got this message:

IMPORTANT: Do not ignore this email.

The hostname (server.dealsreferals.com) resolves to . It should resolve to 69.46.27.111. Please be sure to correct /etc/hosts as well as the 'A' entry in zone file for the domain.

Some are all of these problems can be caused by
/etc/resolv.conf being setup incorrectly. Please check this file if you
believe everything else is correct.

You may be able to
automaticly correct this problem by using the ' Add an A entry for your
hostname ' under ' Dns Functions ' in your Web Host Manager

What is the problem? Maybe I should do what is suggested, however, why suddenly the problem?

My server is working fine. Should I just let this problem? What harm can happen?

How To Disable Friendly Error Message
I kept getting the "friendly error" below even though i'd disabled it on the client browser (this prove that my client browser is not the problem). i purposely coded a simple script wrongly to get the detail error, but to no avail. I believe it has to do with the server setting.

Can you advise if there's any setting/configuration in the server that might cause this? Without the detail error, it will be impossible for me to debug what is wrong with my asp script.

Some of the stuffs that i'd checked on server.
1) The ISS has been set to send detail errors.

2) It is recognizing the .asp extension (approve) - else, the asp page wouldnt even work.

Been debugging this for few nights already, any help are very much appreciated.

The error example:
-----------------------------------------------------
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator to inform of the time the error occurred and of anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

"ERROR With Rpm_check_debug Vs Depsolve:" Error Repeated In Yum
In my move away from proprietary CP not configured for my needs and over which I have little control, I'm uninstalling them from my servers. On one of my VPS, I reinstalled the OS, CentOS 5.2 and am trying to prepare for an upgrade to CentOS 5.3 (and installs of new mailserver, webserver, CP and DNS server) by doing the required software updates on the server. However, I keep getting nearly the exact same error, outputting the exact same files. In this case, I'm trying to install "vim-minimal" for bash since I'm having bash problems, too:

-bash-3.2# yum install vim-minimal

"yum Update" Failing On CentOS 5

Anyone else having problems or know how to resolve this? yum is only using the standard CentOS-Base repositories. Searching for yum-metadata-parse gives:

Code:
#yum search yum-metadata-parser

Yum Error: Gclib-common Dependency
After install yum on my centOS 4.4 VPS, I ran yum update and got this error:

Error: Missing Dependency: glibc-common = 2.3.4-2.25 is needed by package glibc-dummy-centos-4

When I tried to install glibc-common, I got this error:

error: Failed dependencies:
glibc-common = 2.3.4-2.25 is needed by (installed) glibc-2.3.4-2.25.i686
glibc-common = 2.3.4-2.25 is needed by (installed) glibc-dummy-centos-4-2.3.4-2.25.swsoft.i386

When trying to install these other things, I get more dependency errors. I noticed that glibc-dummy-centos-4-2.3.4-2.25.swsoft.i386 was mentioned. I'm not sure what this is, but it's by SwSoft? Is this something I have to contact my provider about? Thanks.

POP Server Error After Apache Update
I run a dedicated server with WHM/cPanel (10.8.0).

I was recently supposed to update the Apache installation to add a module, but instead of clicking "load previous config" I clicked on "start build" by mistake. This brought the installation back to default.

I waited till the build was finished and then added all the modules I could remember having installed earlier. This made Apache not wanting to start. I went back to the default and then recompiled apache over and over again, adding 1 o 2 modules every time. Apache booted up fine, but for some reason my mail is suddenly acting up.

I keep getting the following error on one of my domain in my client:

Code:
Unable to connect to POP server mail.example.com.
Error sending password: -ERR Maildir invalid (no 'cur' directory)
When I click OK, I get:

Code:
Unable to connect to POP server mail.example.com.
Error sending password: Operation now in progress
I have a couple of other accounts in the mail client. None of them are receiving mails, even though I can see that there are new mails present in the mailbox via webmail.

My exim is configured to use mbox as far as I know. So I don't understand why I'm getting an invalid maildir message.

CentOS5 VPS - Yum Barely Working. How To Exclude A Mirror/Mirroring For YUM?
On a CentOS5 VPS I have access to "yum update" barely working due to the base mirror "styx.biochem.wfubmc.edu" being tremendously slow.

I'm trying to find out how to disable that mirror possibly via a mirror exclude setting in yum.conf or some other way. I've been searching but I've not found any documentation on this so hopefully somebody out there will know how to make this change.

YUM - Is Yum Disabled By Easyspace
I went with the cheapest VPS, no control panel and installed webmin myself (done - saves a quid a month )

I have now setup the virtual domains for multiple domain hosting, to find whilst migrating a website that the current install of php (5.12ish) has --without-mysql
so i got the php install files, went to run ./config to find i'm missing required files
(configure: error: Could not find pcre.h in /usr)
which in turn required more files
the resolution rpms are out of the question too many, I need YUM
yet...
bash: yum: command not found
strange as centos comes with yum i thaught
support is busy, thaught i'd try here

No prior experience in VPS
VPS:
centos 5
minimum spec
now with webmin

Message Board
What kind of web hosting plan would I need for a message board with 500+ online active members and 100,000+ overall members?

I'm just trying to figure it out in advance and I believe that some of you have the experience and knowledge about this specific issue.

Message Headers And IP
I have a dedicated server and I am using the SMTP of one of my domain names to send mail. The IP of this domain name ends in .25 and the server hostname IP ends in .24.

The emails that are received list the server hostname and IP in the message headers instead of the IP of the domain name that is sending the email. Is there something that can be done about this? I read that a message could be mistaken as spam if it doesn't originate from the exact IP of the domain in the 'from' field.

Hosting For Message Boards
Trying to figure out the hardware configuration I'll need to host a message board and was wondering if those of you with experience could throw out some numbers in terms of # users, bandwidth used, and what hardware configuration you're on (single server, dual server, dual proc, RAM, disk, etc). Been tricky trying to guestimate so some numbers to compare would be a huge help.

Awstats Always Gives Warning Message
We have CentOS 4 and whm 11 on the server

We are getting following error while we view the awstats.

WARNING: LastLine parameter in history file is '20080518001148' so in future. May be you need to correct manually the line LastLine in some awstats*.domain.com .conf files.

is there anything to run on server to fix this issue globally as we are facing this for all domains on server.

Also in the awstats configuration file of the website(awstats.domain.com.conf). when we make the value
WarningMessages = 0
then the error gets fixed.

But after running /scripts/runweblogs < username > the value of WarningMessages again come back to 1
WarningMessages=1

and we again see the above Warning message in the awstats webpage.

Frozen Message Just Dissapeared
I have a client who could not send email to another domain, it didn't bounce just disappeared.

When I look in the exim_mainlog, the message in question wind up frozen after getting this error:

2008-05-27 15:00:31 1K17WW-0002so-Sn Message is frozen
??? Dissapeared

It never warned the user as said it dissapeared, I have checked exim_mainlog and have found other cases to different domains that maybe the users have not reported but they were lost too.

I tried /scripts/eximup --force and that didn't fix it.
