CPanel Shows Wrong Versions Of Apache And MySQL
Mar 5, 2008
I've a small reseller account with cPanel with 5 sites. After transfering to other host (full cPanel backup of old sites, restoring on new host) cPanel of 2 sites still displays the version number of the old host, the other 3 sites are correct.
CP1: correct - CP2: wrong

Are there particular version of mysql or apache that are best suited when you want to utilize a multi-core/multi-cpu system? For example, we are currently using apache 1.3 and am not sure if it has the inherent ability to use multiple cpus to its benefit.
Or would the fact that it spawns child processes take advantage as the processes will be spawned on the different CPUs?

to upgrade the PHP and MySql versions our shared hosting ocmpany is offering. We are now at PHP 4.3 and MySQL 4.014 I need to bring it up to PHP and MySQL 5.xx versions.
Has anyone done this and if so what gotchas should I look for? what is the suggestes upgrade path not to affect clients using the older versions?

I've been racking my brains with this problem for the last couple of months and have made zero progress. I've asked a lot of people if they know what might be wrong here, but none of them have any idea.
Basically, the problem is that any sort of service monitor I put on my server shows MySQL as being down/offline, even when I know for sure it's up and running perfectly fine. All other services report a green light.
The mysqld service is running on port 3306, which is open both inbound and outbound on my APF config, so as far as I can tell it's nothing to do with the firewall (I won't rule that out though).
The other odd thing is that MySQL shows a green light within WHM, but not anywhere else.
Does anyone know what might be wrong here? Am I missing something entirely fundamental and obvious?

I'm desperately trying to find a hosting service that offers Linux hosting with latest versions of php (5.2.x), mySQL (5.1) and maybe CVS or SVN?
Space or bandwidth are not an issue (500mb space will be more than I'll ever need)
This will mainly will be a development/testing place.
I really need a host that actually updates to latest versions of php/mysql/apache.
(not the next day the upgrade is out but some time soon at least >_<)
Things like CVS / SVN, SSH access and access to change your own php.ini settings are more than welcome but I could live without.

I just upgraded to the latest version of APF. I am running CentOS with the 2.6 kernel.
I added my ports to allow, started it up, and it does not seem to be blocking anything.
I get no errors on startup though. If i do an nmap, mysql shows up as open still. I can even telnet to it.
root@me [~]# /usr/local/sbin/apf -r
apf(6367): {glob} flushing

I am just trying out MySQL on the external Apache server. I must have written down the wrong password. My commands to enter mysql with a password results in denied access.
What file do I undo in order to create a new password? I don't know the exact steps I'm supposed to take. I don't think this is a MySQL issue, but a server issue, right?
I used to create databases and tables on my regular computer and left off the password altogether while I was practicing. Now I'm taking steps to do it on the actual server, and have run across this problem.

I've got a VPS with XenSmart, and I'm running CentOS. Recently, I have been needing to redirect my users to 'www.', since if they don't put the 'www.' in front of the domain the vB forum doesn't run properly. Though, to do this, I edited the .htaccess file and was using the 'mod_rewrite' command, but this requires Apache.
So, on my VPS I've installed Apache, and set LXAdmin to use 'httpd' instead of 'lighttpd', though now my web pages wont show up and all I've got is the default Apache web page:
[url]
How am I able to use Apache (HTTPD) and have it load my current forum? My current forums hosted in:
/home/admin/public_html/vb

In my web site I have several index pages in different languages in the following format
[URL] ....
Two days ago I noticed increased, many times. Google bot activity on my site and when I checked my log file I found that all pages crawled were wrong web addresses: to the above index were added existing files from my site like
/folder1/folder2/file.html
So, the strings looked like
[URL] ....
And surprisingly all they returned code "200".
My question is: is there any way to rewrite such requests to the first ".html" found in the string.

I don't know why but a domain is showing the green default cpanel page instead of its own homepage. The domain has been hosted on this box for a long time.
DNS is fine, ran udpateuserdomains without error. No dns changes have been made. IP it is set to pings fine. Tested via 3rd party proxy, shows green cpanel page still.
Shows proper IP in httpd.conf
