Yahoo Is Blocking Our Domain Name Emails

Apr 20, 2009

We are only a small construction business in NEW Zealand, and send very few emails. But from the 4th April, Yahooo has started blocking all emails from our domain name?

We hve not done bulk newsletters, we have not had bulk reject messages. Our website/ email host is Clevernet.

YAhoo NZ have sent us a bulk email form, which Clevernet submitted. We then had to get another approved server form filled out by Cleverney which they did last Friday, but our email domain is still blocked.

Xtra/ Yahoo NZ< seem to think there is nothing they can do, but wait and see if Yahoo unblock it. There does not seem to be anyone who we can contact at the Yahoo server. NZ say they cant contact anyone at Yahoo. We seem to be stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Yahoo Is Blocking Hundreds Of Our Legitimate Emails

Sep 9, 2008

We are a small ISP with about 5000 users. Only a very small percentage of our users can send email to Yahoo, and even that is sporadic.

Hundreds of our users' legitimate emails are rejected daily with the following message:
421 Message from (208.66.56.9) temporarily deferred - 4.16.50. Please refer to help.yahoo.com/help/us/mail/defer/defer-06.html

I have filled out "Yahoo! Mail Delivery Issues Form" a few times. I get the following automated response message:
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello,

This is an automated message regarding your recent request for Yahoo!
Mail Customer Care support. We have received your message and willYa
respond within the next 48 hours with an answer.

Thank you for reaching out to us. We look forward to helping you!

Sincerely,

Yahoo! Customer Care

**Please do not respond to this message as no one will receive it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

But I never received a response from Yahoo and they continue rejecting our users' legitimate emails.

After reading many forums and blogs, it appears that they are doing the same thing to many other small ISPs and companies with their own email servers.

This practice can interrupt many legitimate business communications and hurts many small businesses.

Major Mail Carries Blocking System Emails

Jan 30, 2007

It seems that all of the emails sent from clientexec to the major carriers (gmail, yahoo, msn etc.,) are being either blocked completely or marked as spam (msn).

When I send an email from outlook from the same domain client exec is on the email goes through fine.

I have added an SPF Record and my domain is not "blacklisted" for spam anywhere.

Blocking Emails From Nonexistent Local Addresses - EXIM

Jul 16, 2007

I'm trying to figure out a method to stop some of the email spam that we get, and I have something figured out, but I need help on implementing it.

Basically, we get a lot of spam emails from addresses claiming to be from our domain (EX: From: someguy@mysite.com). The email is actually not from our domain, nor does the address actually exist, but the From address is being forged to look like it is our domain.

Basically to fix this, i want to block all email where the From address is claiming to be from our domain, with a nonexistent email address. I'm pretty sure that this is configurable in Exim, but I haven't found any tutorial on it, and I'm not familiar enough with Exim to do it very easily. Anyway if anyone knows of a tutorial or how this could be accomplished, please let me know.

Just to Add:
The reason that these emails are a problem is that the spam software we are running recognizes these emails as being from our domain which it trusts, so they pass most spam filters.

TLS When Sending Emails

Jun 3, 2009

This is the qmail-send program at ultimatemedicalresearch.theplanet.host.

I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.

This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

<abc@xyz.com>:
TLS connect failed: error:14077410SL routinesSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLOslv3 alert handshake failure; connected to <IP>.
I'm not going to try again; this message has been in the queue too long.

Executed the following commands as root on both servers (recipient and sender):

openssl s_client -connect [host]:993 returns OK both ways.
openssl s_client -connect [host]:995 returns OK both ways.
openssl s_client -connect [host]:465 very slow response. CONNECTED(00000003) appears then it waits for quite some time (>20s). Then it says: 30179:error:14077410SL routinesSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLOslv3 alert handshake failure23_clnt.c:578. This is shown only when I execute the command on server 1. Server 2 hangs also but returns the 220 message which is OK.

It is odd that the above commands return different certificates, not the ones that are set up on the servers. I am using Plesk, I have set up my certificates and assigned them to those IP addresses.

What could be done to make the mailing system between these two server to work ?

Sending Emails

May 10, 2007

Over the past few months I have noticed an increase in the number of people who state they have not received my emails. I decided to investigate this further and there appears to be a problem which backs these claims.

The server I am sending from has reverse DNS. I have checked on DNSstuff and spamcop and the IP is not on there. I have sent several emails to a test account I have on a different server which is running spam assassin, but the emails are not being received. There is no record of them in any spam folder either? I have sent emails to other account for example, AOL and they seem to receive them? Does anyone have any clue whatsoever is going on? Or possible areas I can further check?

Disable User 'nobody' From Sending Emails

In our quest to stop 'some' of the spamming techniques, I was wondering if there is a way to disable user 'nobody' from sending emails on either a domain or account level - rather than server-wide?

Reason for asking is that I would like to allow 'nobody' emails to just a handfull of trusted clients that have never had problems.

Mailing Lists Keeps Sending Out The Same Emails

Jan 6, 2007

I'm currently experiencing a problem on several accounts on the same server. It seems that the mailing lists sections of Cpanel keeps sending out emails that don't exist.

For example, I have one of my sites set up with a moderated mailing list. When an email comes in, I get an email telling me that I have something waiting to be approved. Well, I got about 100 in 2 days and there's nothing there to be approved. Actually it's the SAME message over and over.

I have several clients with the same issues where the mailing lists keeps sending out old emails but the same ones over and over.

Stop Client Sending Mass Emails

Aug 11, 2008

it's in my clients contract that they must use our email marketing software to send out mass emails.

we are running WHM with the clients website on a cpanel account.

is there a way for me to monitor the email traffic so i know if they send out emails to more than 50+ recipients at a time?

im aware that they are sending emails through their desktops using normal smtp accounts, so need a way to prevent this if it's possible.

Sending Mass Emails From Desktop Or Host + VPS

Aug 3, 2008

It is not about sending SPAM.

I have broadband from cable company and they do not let me send mass email (over 100) at one time. I guess on top of that Web Hosting company (having my domain) has some limit to use smtp.

I want to send text email (not HTML). I do not want to use Email marketing companies (as many suffix their brand in message) and perhaps ripe good benefits via viral marketing at subscribers' cost.

Option - A
===========
I am thinking to use desktop (if technically feasible) and want to use mass smtp with VPS hosting company (if they are open), within their TOS though.

Can VPS somehow be used (for mass smtp) without relocating my domain to new VPS?

Would there still be an issue as I will be using Desktop and routing emails through cable's as cable's company's limit will still be enforced?

If answer is yes, I guess I am left with no choice but to use Web server based mailing solution.

Option - B
==========

In that case, I guess something like phplist needs to be used.

Then my web hosting company would still not be open to use their smtp (or might have set some limits on smtp), so presumabily some blending (using phplist on my hosting and mass smtp on VPS) can be tried.

Solution?
=========

Am I thinking correct? If not, please give me some pointers to bring me to right track.

Any recommendation about VPS who may be open to mass smtp.

I am purposely not mixing multi-threading yet. QMail is default email s/w with my hosting and I guess VPS might also have qmail.

How To Configure Google Apps For Sending And Recieving Emails?

Jun 15, 2008

I have been using google apps for my domain. However if I send a mail through my server using php mail() function. It doesn't show up in the google apps account sent mail folder.

Further, if I CC or BCC the mail to my google apps email id, it turns up in the inbox (which is fine). Also at times I have noticed if my user tries to reply back to the send mail, instead of it coming in the google apps account, it turns up internally in the postfix interface on webmin.

How can I configure gooogle apps so that it can take full control of my domain mails, including sending recieveing thrash etc etc.

I already have google MX enteries in my Godaddy account.
