I have 2 domains under the SAME vps, and just want to copy all the folders under one domain to the other. I don't want to download them and re-upload them as there are way too many. Is there an easy way to copy a select amount of folders in another way from one account to another? (I don't want to copy the entire account, just certain folders).
View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently had an issue where my box wasnt listing accounts (on logging into WHM for the first time it would, thereafter browsing different functions in WHM it would fail to list any accounts), would not list any zone items when editing DNS zones and in general was acting very strange.
I think the tech support chap narrowed it down to zero free inodes on the filesystem (i was even getting errors when editing files with 'vi'). This was increased for the VPS and all issues seemed to be resolved...
However named and httpd were not starting after reboots. Again on looking closely named and httpd were missing from /etc/init.d (on CentOS 5.3)! This is very strange and i certainly didnt modify those nor delete such critical files.
For a second opinion, is there any cPanel script that can be ran to fix the issues, i am concerned other things have been affected but havent manifested themselves yet (other files deleted etc). Does cPanel update script create the init.d files or is this done by the CentOS operating systems itself? Are these files modified during a cPanel update script?
These init.d files for named and httpd have been readded (copied across from another box) and it seems to be ok again, but ideas on howto proceed much appreciated, as i mentioned i dont want any nasty supprises!
I have been with HostNine for almost a year now and have had reasonably decent service, until now.
They recently suspended one of my client's accounts. Understandable, the account had some very old PHP files on them. Let me preface this by stating that I am very sympathetic to hosts who have to deal with problem clients who have sites that slow down shared servers for everyone else on them.
I have tried my hardest to work with HostNine to get these files back and ensure that this account is not a problem on their server. I have never once asked for them to restore the account "as is", all have I have asked is that they backup the files and the database for me (I would do it myself, but they locked me out of the account), so that I can investigate the problem and do testing to ensure that it doesn't cause them problems again.
All in all, getting anyone to co-operate has been unsuccessful. Getting a hold of them has been a hassle (from the time I e-mailed them about the issue to the time I received my first response was a span of over 6 hours). Getting them to co-operate has been impossible. Their "Support Manager", Alex, in broken English has told me next to nothing, aside to accuse me of trying to "get around this" and that I would need to move the account to one of their dedicated plans. I have asked that the account simply be backed up, but have not received any response so far, as time ticks away and the client whose account this was becomes more and more frustrated as their files are effectively being "held hostage".
My last complaint is that they never notified myself, nor the client that they had suspended the account.
Has anyone else had problems with trying to get their files back after a host has locked you out of your account? What are my options? Does the hosting company technically "own" the files, simply because they are being hosted on their server?
I created a FTP account with vsftp and files uploaded are not readable via www-data

I'm using Centos, on a cPanel server. However, I'm looking for more info than what WHM's "Server Information" provides.

I am interesting for VPS but iwant windows 2003 with mssql2005 installed...
is there any company supporting this?
How do you get like for example ROOT of cPanel in a VPS? How would you be able to use it besides like giving permission to use WHM and stuff on accounts. As doesn't remote reboot and such have to happen on the whole server?

View 13 Replies View RelatedI understand that servers can do automatic backups of information, yet I also see forum modifications that enable simple ways of doing a backup. Are there different types of backups? Why is it necessary to manually backup a forum database when its done automatically by the server? In terms of assuring the data, what is required and whats a typical procedure, what does it entail, is it manual and if so usually how often, or is it usually automatic?

Whois for a run when a particular IP it shows the location of the IDC as information.
I wonder what IDC Servers rent that information to the Whois IP can be changed so not knowing where it is being rented.
I was checking my server information today on WHM panel and this is what I saw:
Processor #1 Vendor: GenuineIntel
Processor #1 Name: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6700 @ 2.66GHz
Processor #1 speed: 1596.000 MHz
Processor #1 cache size: 4096 KB
Processor #2 Vendor: GenuineIntel
Processor #2 Name: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6700 @ 2.66GHz
Processor #2 speed: 2660.000 MHz
Processor #2 cache size: 4096 KB
Why is the Processor #1 speed labeled as 1.6 ghz? Processor #2 speed never goes down no matter how high the load is. Could it be the reason that my server can't handle 4 websites with a cumulative total of 20k unique hits per day?
We are planning for a clustering archirecture for our mail servers,The basic idea is put all of mailservers behind a load balancer which will monitor and distribute the n/w load as server load and forward the requests accordingly can u suggest any good hardware loadbalancer which could give us 'server load balancing' as well as n/w load balacing.
I would also like to know if it is a good idea to go for a software load balancer(like linux heartbeat) or to h/w load balancer.
Someone knows how to block viewing "information schema" for unprivileged users? When accessed, it causes abnormal load to server.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI just want an expert opinion if what I am doing should be considered to be secure (or if there is a more secure way to do what I am doing). I made our hotel's online reservation system and it stores the guests' credit card information.
The card is encrypted using AES (MCRYPT_RIJNDAEL_128) and the key that is used to encrypt/decrypt must be entered from the client side in order to log in. It is not stored on the server. So that my employees do not have to enter it every time they want to log in, it is stored in a cookie on their computer or entered manually if the cookie is deleted. When logged in, I have the key stored in a _SESSION variable in a subdirectory of that account's home directory and have the following attributes (for example):
Quote:
-rw------- 1 nobody nobody 0 Jul 9 16:48 sess_c1744d96fe87def6814db2c5936e1b1d
Does this seem like a secure enough way to store/encrypt/decrypt credit card data?
