Random DNS
Mar 2, 2008Two of my domains experience random DNS problems; I've had frequent complaints from eastern countries (and sometimes experience the problem myself) that at seemingly random moments the domain will not resolve. For the eastern countries, this may go on for days at a time, while for myself (in the US) it's no more than an hour or two. While it may work for some, it randomly goes down for others.

Jun 19, 2009Seems my site is getting random blank pages. I did some research and maybe but not sure its related to open files.

Is this something to worry about? I just did a reboot and it did it.

Random Domain In Email Headers

HTTP IP Showing Random Account
Oct 29, 2008My server is centos 5 with cPanel.
When I go to [url](xx.xx.xx.xx being an IP on my server) it shows a random web hosting account that is on that IP?
How do I stop this and put one page there or the "great success, cPanel and apache are working on your server" page there?

Random 403 Forbidden Error (after Activating Keep Alive?)
May 31, 2008recently I have an weird problem and I don't know what might be, I just suspect that this error appeared after we have enabled Keep Alive on apache
I have the same error with randomly Forbidden error. The most time I see it is on 2 websites that are build with Gallery 2 and very rarely on other website, on my end never happent on other websites but some people told me it did.
Bellow is a small part of cPanel's "Last 300 visits" it shows every request so you can see first request was a direct link , I have wrote the galery name .. and the others are aither requests to images either other files ....
Network - DNS Lookup Error At Random Times
Sep 27, 2009I regularly have DNS issues with some of my sites hosted with a specific host... At random sites, the urls done resolve and I get a DNS error.
Just to find out that a few hours later it loads again without issues...
I always thought it had something to do with my ISP... My host says that there's nothing wrong with their DNS.
However, I asked a few people now and it seems they're having DNS problems too sometimes when accessing the problematic urls...

Apache :: Dev / Random For SSL Encryption Seeding On Windows
Jun 25, 2014What's the go with seeding the PRNG on windows as there isn't dev/random or dev/urandom? Should I use CryptoAPI or just use a file with random contents and change it often, or just leave the PRNG to "almost" randomise itself?

Feb 20, 2008I have a cPanel server with 4GB RAM
My server hangs time to time, once or twice a day. This is the last status when it happens.
Server Load 75.90 (2 cpus)
Memory Used 92 %
Swap Used 65.78 %
When I was still inside SSH when it happens, the processes I can see inside "top" are a lot of httpd processes.
So I "killall -9 httpd", I had to do it 30~40 times
#killall -9 httpd
#killall -9 httpd
#killall -9 httpd
x 30~40 times until no pid process found & the server load is back to normal.
Before that, I check httpd fullstatus, they look very normal, same goes to what I see inside WHM Apache status & cpu usage status.
At first I thought it was a memory problem after consulting with a server admin, so I replaced all 4GB new ram stick (such a waste)

Question 1 : Why the memory is so low and the swap so high ?
Question 2 : Why i don't find high usage process in top command ?

I run a filehosting site so it gets very slow when traffic is high.

Server High Load/high Mysql Usage
Jul 2, 2009I have a site that is eating up my server resources and need to know what the best solution for this is. I'm thinking of getting another server just for mysql but do not know what specs the server should be to handle the current traffic/database load and have the site run smoothly without slowing down to a snail's pace.
An alternative is to get another server just for the videos being served and leave the database and html on the current server. This is where I'm stuck and don't know what route to take with this.
My current server stats:
Dual Xeon 5130
4GB RAM
250GB
50 Mbit/sec
CentOS 3.9
Website traffic stats:
15,000 visitors/day
150,000 pageviews/day
Serving videos
I've attached screenshots of top and bandwidth usage per day. Hopefully with this information you could tell me if I need another server or if there are any things I can do to the current server to help things move faster.

In order to license software for use for my client's company, the vendor needs the MAC Addresses setup for their vps' virtual enet interfaces.

VC9, VC10 & VC11 redistributables are installed.
When I attempt to start Apache - both from the command line and as a service - I receive the following error messages:

The Windows event viewer merely says that HTTPD stopped with an application-specific error #1.
I have also tried with SSL both enabled and commented out.
For what it is worth the message appears to be generated by the routine ap_init_rng in the server core.c module.
Plesk 12.x / Linux :: Random 503 Service Temporarily Unavailable
Apr 12, 2015Every now and then I will attempt to load my Plesk 12, CentOS6 Website, and receive the following error:
503, Service Temporarily Unavailable.
It requires a restart of nginx and apache in order to remove the error. It then can come back in a week, or in a few hours. Its completely random. I also can't find anything in the logs.
This started happening after I enabled backups, then later disabled backups because of problems with my backup server. However this does not occur when my scheduled backup was.
GoDaddy Tells Me It's Normal To See The Folders Of Some Random Persons Account
Jun 3, 2009I signed up with GoDaddy shared hosting just a couple days ago. I logged into my site using SSH and FileZilla.
And I see hundreds of folders and files that are not mine. These are files from some random account. These are not the basic starter-folders/files.
Yet when I connect via FTP (not SSH), I only see the regular starter-set with just a few folders and a few files (not hundreds).
This seemed totally loopy, so I called customer support, and the support guy agreed that it was not right. He "escalated" the issue to technical support. I received an email from them asking for screenshots of all these random files I see via SSH.
I sent in the screenshots of FileZilla showing all these files.
Then GoDaddy responded with this:

Thank you for contacting Hosting Support.
We have reviewed your hosting account [edit] and SSH does in fact show more files than typical FTP. This is normal and not something to be alarmed about. As you are on the shared environment there is certain folders that you will not be able to access, one such example provided in your screenshots is 'herawellness', attempting to access this directory will result in a access denied error. If you are attempting to upload web content you will need to put the content in the the /html/ directory.
If you are having trouble using SSH you may want to consult your favorite search engine for assistance with SSH commands.

This doesn't seem right at all.
I've only hosted with one other host besides godaddy, and using SSH I did not suddenly see hundreds of random files from some random account.
