Qmail With Large Amounts Of BCC Recipients Receiving 20 Times The Emails
Jan 5, 2007
Everything on our Qmail installation is working fantastic except for one thing (most of the qmail patches are installed from [url]:
If a user sends an email to several recipients, often times, all users of the list will receive several copies (10 times or more) of the email.
So far I think the situation is that a user sends a weekly update (sort of mini mailing list to 20 users or so) by just adding them as BCC in their outlook.
Then I think one of the 20 emails bounces or throws back a deferral, and then qmail resends the email many many more times not only to the bounced recipient (but also to the entire list of recipients in the BCC)
I have windows server 2008 r2 and plesk 12. I can receive mails but can not send mail. I am receiving mail like this :
MailEnable: Message could not be delivered to some recipients.
The following recipient(s) could not be reached:
Recipient: [SMTP:sendmailaddress]
Reason: 550-5.7.1 [2a00:9bc0::3531:cd42:eef3:7fa6 12] Our system has detected that

Anyone know how to fix this? I put it as plain as possible. I've reinstalled qmail once to see if I can get it to send/receive but it is still not working. I made sure the port is not blocked either.
Recently I changed server providers, so now I'm looking for a way to transfer all the data to my new server. I have a total of 420GBs of files in my secondary HDD that need to be transferred.
The old server is at a 10Mbps line, the new one is at a 100Mbps one. From old server, less than half the pipe is being actively used. So theoretically, I should be able to transfer it all in about a week.
I tried 1) SCP. That was waaay too unreliable. And I couldn't get it to restart from the point left on whenever the transfer stopped (like when the servers were restarted).
2) Transfer using a web script. Way too slow, got to about 35GBs, total would take like 2 months.
Is there any other, reliable way of transferring data from server to server?
here is my problem.. i am running qmail on a plesk control panel. my load average around 15.. when i quit qmail it drops below 1.. when i clear out the queue it drops below 1, then it slowly starts rising back to 15.. i ignored my queue for a little while and it stacked up to 26k in the local queue and 1k in the local queue. overnight it builds up to 2k in the local queue and 12 in the remote.. i thought a php script was exploited so i tracked down every script using the mail function that i thought might be doing it and disabled them. i noticed some difference but the queue is still building up rapidly.. i also altered the /usr/sbin/sendmail so it will log all mail sent and that doesn't pose a problem as only 10 emails have been sent via /usr/sbin/sendmail in the last 24 hours. i also tested my server for open relays via abuse.net and it passed the open relay tests. what else could be happening? all the email in the queue is spam.. where is it coming from? some is being sent to users on the server and some is not.. i am at a total loss right now, and really need to get this problem solved. thanks for any help.....
Hotmail not receiving any emails from my server nevertheless log files is ok no problem and messages sent every thing is ok recently i contacted with my server's provider to make a ptr record at dns to fix hotmail problem and i shoked when i notice that they put a wronge ip
My Q: is that ptr record is important and it could be the reason for making hotmail rejecting my emails
There is a strange problem with picking up and sending emails on Outlook 2007 which I have wasted hours on over the last week.
Whenever I try to pick up/send emails on domain names, I get a 800CCC0F error message. It says: "reported error (0x800CCC0F): 'The connection to the server was interrupted. If the problem continues, contact your server adminstrator or Internet Service Provider (ISP)'"
I have gone through all the steps here [url]and here [url]and on another websites.
I have been setting up email addresses on Outlook for several years, so know how they should be done.
The strange thing is the email addresses of domain names hosted elsewhere work perfectly. But both new and existing Clook-hosted email addresses are producing this error message.
I believe it may be an error with the software for two reasons:
1. The email addresses work perfectly when I open Outlook in Safe Mode.
2. Our web host's staff have not been able to find anything wrong and the email addresses work when they try to set them up on their computers.
Any idea why our email addresses may not be working and how I can fix this please?
I have tried System Restore and Repairing the program on my computer's Control Panel.
my Exim mail outgoing queue is getting stuck and i cannot receive emails. Under WHM i have 50 odd emails, some 7 days old.
A small dump from /var/log/exim-mainlog is below:

Everything was fine until about 7 days ago, i dont know why the config didnt change but since then its been dropping received emails and queueing on sends.
I currently migrate from cpanel to plesk12. Everything is working fine, but the emails are no been received, I´m able to send, but not able to receive.

[Code] ....
I thinks it´s permission on the folder, but already run the code : /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/mchk --with-spam
It did not solved, is there anything else I can do?
I have loads of spam messages being sent from my VPS and I think one (or more) of the legit email accounts are used to send spam (either someone worked out the passwords or users of those accounts have malicious software installed on their machines.
How can I check which email accounts send which emails? Currently nothing is being logged by qmail (/var/log/mail* are empty).
That is emails that are waiting to be sent which are not going to be sent since they are bad emails so they are just stuck in the queue and are killing cpu resources, how does one tell Qmail to dump all unsent emails waiting in the queue?
I'm having a hard time figuring why me emails are not delivered to mailboxes.
A bit of context: OS: Ubuntu 12 Plesk pannel: 11.5
This server was supposed to be a new server (upgrade) from a previous who was working correctly (Also Linux with Plesk but both older versions).
After new server installed and websited up and running, I decided to create mailboxes and then copied all mailboxes (including emails and folders) to this new server.
First issue I got was i could not connect, until I figure out permissions were incorrect (for root after copy) and fixed it to be accessible by "popuser" (each user to access his mailbox).
Now i can connect, but new emails stay on qmail and can't be delivered to mailboxes.
Even after I have deleted the emalboxes and recreate them (now new emails are being delivered) all those emails in the queue can't be delivered.
I forced queue flush with "postqueue -f" but I get errors on the log:
(temporary failure. Command output: .qmail has prog delivery but has x bit set. (#4.7.0) 4.2.1 Message can not be delivered at this time )...
Which user should i give permissions (if that is the case) so tha both popuser (email user) and qmail/postfix can write on the mailboxes and deliver messages?
running Plesk qmail server. My local mail queue is growing rapidly and very slow dlivery m gettings too many spam emails from outbound. I am using DNSBL server sbl.spamhaus.org maped but it is out of control. how to protect my box from SPAM.
I have a dedicated windows server. I have it protected to the best of my ability (disabling administrative shares, anti-virus, anti-spyware, disabled remoted desktop, firewall, etc.). The purpose for the server is to host game servers. Over the past month, ive noticed massive amounts of bandwidth being used. For example Windows reports the bandwidth usage at a little over 2 GB in 1 day, yet on my control panel which reads the traffic from the switch, it shows that 9 GB have been transferred. I asked the colo what's happening and they said that traffic that is blocked by the firewall is still counted toward my monthly limit. But how can there be 7 GB of blocked traffic, keeping in mind i never had this problem months ago. As a test, last night i disabled all game servers and applications that use bandwidth. In the past day over 9GB has been transferred, despite the fact that i have nothing running that takes more then 50KB of bandwidth.
Aside from these bandwidth issues, everything is running fine, my passwords are still the same, etc. Is there anyway detect security holes, so that i may patch them when i reinstall the OS? I asked my colo for a security audit.
My question is, do you think my server has been compromised?
i have a fedora core 4 server.. and i want to install a good Qmail email server to host some emails of diferent domains..
On searching i found that Qmail should be install with those associated programs/system for a better server :
Qmail itself EZmlm and EZmlm-idx Autoresponder Vpopmail VQadmin maildrop QmailAdmin Courier-imap/imaps with Courierpassd Squirrelmail web mail program ......
how to set the restrictions of maximum recipients a singe email can be sent to. I found one customer sending an email to 1233 recipients at a time which is a large number enough to increase the queue on the server. I am running Cpanel/WHM. Is there some tweak to be done in Exim?
I have a dedicated server where I am running Postfix just to relay mail to a smtp server. Whenever I send test emails using Postfix the TO addresses shows as:
"undisclosed-recipients"
I see when I review my maillog where the outgoing email address is not recognized.
Jun 11 21:09:57 big1 postfix/smtpd[8098]: >>> CHECKING RECIPIENT MAPS <<< Jun 11 21:09:57 big1 postfix/smtpd[8098]: ctable_locate: leave existing entry key xxxxx@gmail.com Jun 11 21:09:57 big1 postfix/smtpd[8098]: maps_find: recipient_canonical_maps: xxxxx@gmail.com: not found
How can you get Postfix to just pass along the email address and not check to see if it knows it or not? The email still goes to the right place but it does not look very professional..
