I'm on a VPS with Ubuntu 14.04 and Plesk 12 Web Admin Edition. I can't import a large (20 MB zipped) database dump to phpmyadmin because there is a 2MB file size limit. I suppose I have to change the server-wide PHP configuration (if I change the PHP settings for the domain nothing happens). Is there a way to change the global PHP settings via the Plesk panel?

if there was a way for me to cut up a large mysql database in shell. We're talking almost 8 gigs here.
I would like to import it in chucks, something like 1 gig per shot. Is that doable with some software that I can use in shell? I wouldn't want to use vim to splice up that sucker.
Or is there a better method of doing this? I already dumped this and I rather not do it again unless if I could perhaps dump this in chunks.

under Plesk 12.0.18 PHPMyAdmin is failing to import a 3 MB SQL dump of a simple Joomla website. "Error 505 Bad Gateway", it says.It happens with other dumps too, some as small as ~500 KB. The format (SQL or ZIP) of the file uploaded doesn't seem to matter, because the upload itself seems to work; it seems it's the post-processing what is raising the error.
The funny thing is that the import itself seems to work (the contents of the SQL dump are imported), but the error message appears and causes confusion and support requests from our clients./var/log/sw-cp-server/error_log says:
2015/05/15 03:19:31 [error] 10215#0: *5 recv() failed (104: Connection reset by peer) while reading response header from upstream, client: XX.XX. XXX. XXX, server: , request: "POST /domains/databases/phpMyAdmin/import.php HTTP/1.1", upstream: "fastcgi://unix:/var/run/sw-engine.sock:", host: "xxxx. xxxxxxx.com:8443", referrer: URL.....To me it sounds like a timeout.
This seems to be a "popular" error among Plesk users, and I have tried this, this and this with no luck.

I have been using Plesk for a while on my server, but this is the first time that I need to set up large files uploading for a client who requires to upload via a form files that are larger than 128MB (but less than 400).The issue I've been seeing is that whenever the user tries to upload a file greater than 128MB I see an error on the proxy_error_log that says:
2015/05/10 21:46:18 [error] 31224#0: *9 client intended to send too large body: 175420278 bytes, client: XX.XX.XX.XX, server: myserver.com , request: "POST /admin/products/1 HTTP/1.1", host: "myserver.com", referrer: "referrer"
I've been googling this issue and everything points to the nginx configuration (PHP parameters have already been set up). I proceeded to change the configuration of /etc/nginx/nginx.conf to include
http {
...
client_max_body_size 400M;
...
}
HOWEVER (and this is where I'm stuck) after restarting the nginx service, the fille /etc/nginx/plesk.conf.d/vhosts/myserver.com.conf continues to hold the value:
server {
...
client_max_body_size 128m;
...
}
Modifying this file to change the 128m to 400m does not make a difference.

This is applies to both Horde and roundcube webmail client software;
Using Plesk 11.5.30 with Horde 5.1.5 or roundcube 0.9.5 on CentOS Linux release 6.5 (Final).
We have seen this behavior occur on multiple servers.
Clients experienced slow to no response after executing a search, which eventually results in a failed to communicate with the server-error in the webmail client.
The Apache server log shows script time-out errors when searching larger mailboxes (i.e. larger than 950 MB), this does not happen on smaller mailboxes.
We have seen errors like the following in the Apache server error log with Horde (personal data like IP-address and domain name are x'ed out):
[Thu Jun 19 14:55:06 2014] [warn] [client xx.xxx.xxx.xxx] mod_fcgid: read data timeout in 45 seconds, referer: http://webmail.xxxxxxx.com/imp/dynamic.php?page=mailbox
[Thu Jun 19 14:55:06 2014] [error] [client xx.xxx.xxx.xxx] Premature end of script headers: ajax.php, referer: http://webmail.xxxxxxx.com/imp/dynamic.php?page=mailbox
And with Roundcube:
[Tue Jun 17 13:02:04 2014] [warn] [client xx.xxx.xxx.xxx] mod_fcgid: read data timeout in 45 seconds, referer: https://webmail.xxxxxxxxxxx.com/?_t...d=19445&_mbox=INBOX&_caps=pdf=0,flash=1,tif=0
[Tue Jun 17 13:02:04 2014] [error] [client xx.xxx.xxx.xxx] Premature end of script headers: index.php, referer: https://webmail.xxxxxxxxxxx.com/?_t...d=19445&_mbox=INBOX&_caps=pdf=0,flash=1,tif=0
Steps to reproduce:
- use a large mailbox (950 MB or higher)
- login to the webmail (Horde or roundcube)
- do a search in the search field on the top right
- the time-out error should appear in the server Apache error log (after at least 45 seconds)
This seems like an inefficiency or bug in the search query that searches the user's mailbox. Is there any other way we can prevent this issue and the error messages?

My client's website needs to hold files that are around 60 or 70 MB. The host only allows files up to 10 MB. Is that typical?
Right now I'm linking to a file storage but would rather make the files available from my site without going to a 3rd Party Site. He doesn't want to zip his files either - just to be a straight download.

I have a situation here.
I wanted to transfer a file (about 10GB) from one server to another server. Both server are on the same LAN.
Inside server1, I zipped a folder as file.tar.gz
From server2, I uses wget http://server1.com/file.tar.gz and it says "404 Not Found"
I suspect it won't allow me to download because the file is too big.

So I've recently ordered a Supermicro 4U server with 24x1TB HDs, 64GB RAM and put it in RAID 10. I'm running Debian 5.0 and have installed lighttpd. All the content I serve are video files (AVi, MP4, MKV, OGM) and each file is about 100-500mb in size. I'm wondering how can I optimize lighttpd to get the best performance out of it. I look forward to your replies.

on good hosting setups for getting large amounts of disk space.
I would like to be able to offer up to 2Gb storage space for 100s, maybe up to a few 1000 users - any solution should scale well. The files would be static files that might be up to 400Mb in size.
It would be nice to be able to give users FTP access to their disk space, although it's not a core requirement.

Knowing Qoodaa was quite by chance.
A few days ago, my friends studying in America recommended me a new popular transfer toolQoodaa. And he told me that it was a quite good software to download files and movies. At first,I was skeptical, but after using it, I found its a good choice to choose Qoodaa. And I have summarized the some features of Qoodaa:
1.Its speed is faster than any other softwares I used before to upload movies.
2.It can download files quickly through downloading links, in a word, it is time-saver and with high efficiency.
3.No limit of space.No matter where you are, it can download fast.
4. Qoodaa is a green software with high security and easy use.
It really can give you unexpected surprise.
I am a person who would like to share with others, and if you have sth good pls share with me

I'm currently running on a VPS. My site allows for large file uploads and downloads, with files over 600mb in size.
The server has issues when the site gets three or more requests for large file downloads. I'm trying to grow this site to thousands of users and it is hard to do when the site can't handle even three.
I've been told by my host that I need to upgrade to dedicated. My VPS only has 512mb RAM and one large file download is eating up that RAM. This is causing the issue.
I'm a newbie and while I knew I was risking a bit by going with VPS I do find it a bit annoying that these guys advertise 1TB of bandwidth per month but I can't even support downloading 1GB at the same time....maybe it's just me...
Anyway, I am now looking into moving the large files and the upload/download over to Amazon S3. If I do this I am expecting my RAM usage on the VPS to greatly decrease. Is this correct? If my PHP code is running on the VPS, but the actual file download via HTTP is coming from S3, that should not be a heavy load on my box, correct?
any opinions on S3?

When trying to access any files or pages I'm getting the error:"Not Found...The requested URL /wp-login.php was not found on this server.Apache Server at calmcomputing.net Port 80"
The standard default page displays but my Wordpress installation does not (nor does anything for that matter). I've looked in the file manager (and via ftp) and all the files are there like they should be. This is the same for any of the subdomains that I've setup as well.

I have a big problem concerning the file upload limit (I need a large size, around 2Go) : I was using my app in /var/www/vhost/default and it was working perfectly, I decided to change it and use /var/www/vhost/mydomain.com to have it throught the plesk panel, and there I have an upload limit than I need to push. I can't upload files larger than 128Mo and I don't know why.
- I have checked all php.ini files (with locate php.ini) and they are all correct.
- I used plesk panel to set php conf -> done.
- I put :
php_value memory_limit 2000M
php_value upload_max_filesize 2000M
php_value post_max_size 2000M
in my .htaccess in htdocs
[Code]....
I reload/restart apache2, psa, ... And it still doesn't work, I have no more idea every conf file seems correct. It's not a permission problem because I can upload some 80Mo files but not 500Mo ...

We have a website under httpdocs/. We can change/delete files with a ftp user : "ftpold". All is ok. We must create another ftp access for another company which can access only to httpdocs directory (not to logs/, error_docs/...).
So we have create a ftp access in Plesk. But with this ftp connexion, we can not update/delete files ou update rights.
So we decide to change rights on the files/directories under httpdocs with the new ftp access :
httpdocs# chown -R ftpnewsacln *
The is no errors but the files:directories are always with the old ftp user :
httpdocs# ls -l
ftpold psacln ... libs/
ftpold pscln ... index.php
Why ? How can i create another ftp access ?

I suddenly have a client's access_SSL_log.processed file growing at a ridiculous rate. Very small website. The log file had grown to 6BG before I realized the problem. I removed it and two days later there was a 3GB log file that replaced it. Nothing strange that I can see regarding the traffic to the website, which is quite small. Only 80 visitors.
