Plesk 11.x / Linux :: Enable Server-wide Compression Using Deflate
Aug 19, 2012I have been trying to enable server-wide compression using deflate.My server is running a fresh install of plesk panel 11 installed over a fresh centos 6 64. The configs and settings (aside from files I mention) have not been changed at all from default.
I have created a new file in /etc/httpf/conf.d/deflate.conf This file is being included when Apache is restarted, so that's definitely working and the html doc compresses. But not matter what I do (I have tried every combination Google would find) css and js files will not compress. At my previous workplace we also used a Plesk server and nobody could ever get compression working there either.
Enable Zlib Compression If EAccelerator Is Already Installed
Feb 13, 2007Does it make sense to enable zlib compression if eAccelerator is already installed? I'm running PHP 5.2.1 (FastCGI) with lighttpd 1.4.13 and eAccelerator 0.9.5. Also, here's a more general question. Since I manually compiled these programs, how would I go about updating them with the source files? Would I just repeat the normal installation process with the new source files?

Actually I had downloaded backup of IPB forum in ssh mode, it was around 88mb in .sql format
zipped it, turned out to be 21.2MB
uploaded it to server, and unzipped there, its now
84.6MB
now does this mean any files are lost or corrupted? As the actual size before compression was 88MB

In plesk 11.5 for linux phpmyadmin is installed from default.

Mar 26, 2014how to enable AWStats for the domains on my server. In our old Panel (v9.5), I could go Domains > DOMAIN.TLD > Web Hosting Settings, and on that page there was an option to choose between Webalizer/AWStats/None. In version 11.5, I don't see that option.
When I look on the actual Windows server, I do see an AWStats directory along with a Webalizer directory in "C:Program Files (x86)ParallelsPleskAdditional", so I think it's installed...? AWStats comes along as part of the Plesk Panel license, right?
I can see the Webalizer stats when I browse to [URL] ...., but I'd much rather see AWStats.

Feb 1, 2013I want to enable SSL in one of my domains. I've checked old topics about how to do this, but I can't get it done.
I want to use a self-signed certificate. I'm gonna use the SSL to receive and send data from/to an Android device, not to access it using a web browser.
I created my own certificate in SSL certificates (I used the self-signed option instead of Request). I didn't add anything else after that, I didn't add Certificate or anything else.
Once it's been created, I enable SSL on the domain I want. I just enabled the checkbox, there's no combobox to select a certain certificate, but I changed the default certificate on SSL certificates. I thought that was enough, but it wasn't working so I went to IP Addresses, I clicked in my dedicated IP (shared) and selected my new certificate in there, but it's still not working.
EDIT:
I've just seen that Apache Tomcat might not be installed, I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it. If I go to Server->Service Management I can find Apache Tomcat 5.4.4 in the Java tab (it's the only Apache entrance), but it says it's not active since it hasn't been installed or it's not correctly configurated. If I go to Applications->Installed applications Apache Tomcat is not there.

Nov 11, 2014I noticed that IETF had not been enabled initially in the DNS template. This has been corrected but we now have numerous domains without that enabled. I would like to enable this on all those domains. Doing so from the GUI would be too time consuming for that number of domains.
So is there a cli switch that will turn this on for all domains or that I can run against all the domains?

Jan 7, 2015We are trying to use a configure settings for an external SMTP server within Plesk (Windows 2008 R2 Plesk 12) but are receiving the following error message:
Error: Unable to encode IDN email address 'username': email address is invalid
We are trying to use a username for SMTP authentication as we do not have the option of using an email address with our current SMTP relay provider.
Is there any way around this so that we can use a username rather than an email address?
Compression In IIS6
Apr 9, 2008I have enabled compression in IIS6 on win2k3 server and the dynamic compression is working lovely but the static compression is not functioning. I have double checked the metabase settings and permissions on the Temp Folder (IUSR write permissions) but nothing is ever written to the folder and my static files (htm,html) are not sent with compression! FWIW I can compress them by adding the filetype to the dynamic compression metabase string and they work but this is not efficient. I think I must have overlooked something...

Plesk 12.x / Linux :: Restore Backup Via PHPMyAdmin
Dec 6, 2014I made a backup of my website with plesk backup manager on an external FTP, now I want to restore this backup on a new server which isn't using plesk, for test purposes. I've downloaded the backup (which is in .tar) on my PC, and extracted all files firstly from the general .tar archive, then the user_data from .tgz. Then to extract all the databases (they were in a folder "databases" after I've extracted the general .tar file), I extracted them from database_name_145536536.tgz, then from database_name_145536536.tar, so that now I've a series of "database_name_145536536" files. (145536536 are some example numbers).
I'm interested in restoring both files and mysql databases.
To restore the files, I can simply use the extracted files from the user_data archive.
To restore the mysql databases, I tried to do "mysql -p -u username database_name < file" and everything seemed to work fine.
Is this process ok? Is it 100% safe and sure or I could face some bugs?

At some point, not sure when, PHPMyAdmin's (as accessed through the admin panel by clicking on a customer, manage hosting, databases, etc) permissions have changed such that I cannot view, edit or add MySQL routines/procedures. This appears to have occurred system-wide, though I have not checked every database on the server.
Is there a fix to get the permissions set so that I can make these changes again?

With direct mysql file, t stops and only copies a few tables, stating to reupload to continue (which it doesn't and states that there are pre-existing tables). With zip file, it does the same.. at one point at 504 error occurred.

Feb 9, 2015I'm on a VPS with Ubuntu 14.04 and Plesk 12 Web Admin Edition. I can't import a large (20 MB zipped) database dump to phpmyadmin because there is a 2MB file size limit. I suppose I have to change the server-wide PHP configuration (if I change the PHP settings for the domain nothing happens). Is there a way to change the global PHP settings via the Plesk panel?

May 26, 2015under Plesk 12.0.18 PHPMyAdmin is failing to import a 3 MB SQL dump of a simple Joomla website. "Error 505 Bad Gateway", it says.It happens with other dumps too, some as small as ~500 KB. The format (SQL or ZIP) of the file uploaded doesn't seem to matter, because the upload itself seems to work; it seems it's the post-processing what is raising the error.
The funny thing is that the import itself seems to work (the contents of the SQL dump are imported), but the error message appears and causes confusion and support requests from our clients./var/log/sw-cp-server/error_log says:
2015/05/15 03:19:31 [error] 10215#0: *5 recv() failed (104: Connection reset by peer) while reading response header from upstream, client: XX.XX. XXX. XXX, server: , request: "POST /domains/databases/phpMyAdmin/import.php HTTP/1.1", upstream: "fastcgi://unix:/var/run/sw-engine.sock:", host: "xxxx. xxxxxxx.com:8443", referrer: URL.....To me it sounds like a timeout.
This seems to be a "popular" error among Plesk users, and I have tried this, this and this with no luck.

Nov 2, 2014One of my users is unable to connect to his database using phpMyAdmin. The query is:
LOAD DATA INFILE '/tmp/phpYXZFfZ' INTO TABLE `count` FIELDS TERMINATED BY ';' ENCLOSED BY '"' ESCAPED BY '' LINES TERMINATED BY '
And mysql reports:
#1045 - Access denied for user '<USERNAME>'@'%' (using password: YES)
The funny part is that I can connect without any problems from a shell like this:
mysql -u <USERNAME> -p<PASSWORD> -D <DATABASE_NAME>.
This server has been recently migrated from plesk9 to plesk11.5, running on a centos6 OS.
