Plesk 11.x / Windows :: How To Change Folder Location Of WordPress
Jan 2, 2015
Microsoft Windows Server 2012 11.5.30 Update #49
I have several users using WordPress that has been installed using the Plesk panel. They want to change the directory that WordPress is installed to. I know if that is done that WordPress will no longer be able to be managed or updated using the Panel. Is there any way to change the folder structure so that this application can still be managed by Plesk?
I'm SURE this is me being stupid but I cannot find where to change folder permissions in the new Plesk interface?
I go to the file manager but all I have are the basic file/folder operations (Create, Delete, Upload File, etc) - I can't find anywhere to change permissions on the folders to give the MYSERVER_IUSR permission, etc.
I have changed the maildir in Plesk according to [URL] ..... Everything works like a charm, however selinux doesn't allow access to the new directory. That means we get a permission denied and no mail is received at the server anymore.
Old location: /var/qmail/mailnames/ New location: /mnt/bigstorage/mailnames/
tail -f /var/log/maillog: Mar 2 13:38:42 srv2 postfix-local[5983]: postfix-local: from=example@example.com, to=example@example.com, dirname=/mnt/bigstorage/mailnames/ Mar 2 13:38:42 srv2 postfix-local[5983]: cannot chdir to mailnames dir /mnt/bigstorage/mailnames: Permission denied
If we disable selinux, everything works, however this is not the best practice.
How can I fix this error without disabling selinux?
I recently changed the main domain url from website.com to www.website.com, this resulted in 404-errors when i navigated to wordpress...
I found a solution on the internet and updated the records with phpmyadmin [URL] ....
When I click on Login at the the WordPress Installations I'm still being navigated to the old website url. It supprices me that there is no option to change it on Plesk level after wordpress is deployed.
How can i change or update the wordpress path once it is installed in Plesk?
I'm using CentOS 6.2, maybe there is a config file or an database for Plesk?
To be clear i don't mean the wp-config.php admin password for mysql but the wordpress Plesk admin account that is associated with Log in button
For some reason my user has lost his password and is not able to use the Wordpress forgot password - wizard form at the page where you normally logged on.
I have tried to reset the password via Change Account on the WordPress Installation and it came back with the message
Error: Unable to find the specified administrator account in WordPress. Specify the username of your administrator's account in WordPress. This account will be associated with Plesk.
I have tried to add another admin via MySQL with this [URL] ... and that didn't work either.
I'm trying to copy a backup from the FTP server to the production server but I don't have enough space in the tmp folder.
There is a way to change where the backups are temporary until the hole backup is on the server? In case the only thing to do is to change where the tmp folder is mounted. This is a production server, I won't like to do it without knowing all the steps.
I have installed the Wordpress application. The wordpress url is "server.com/wordpress", but I want to change it to something like "server.com/myblog".
In Plesk, the installation path cannot be changed (at least, it is not under "Change Settings").
Changing the Wordpress installation itself is not that difficult (renaming the folder in httpdocs and changing the siteurl and home parameter in the database), however, in Plesk still the old installation path is shown, and the Plesk interface to Wordpress obviously does not work any more.
How can I change the Wordpress installation path in Plesk?

I'm pretty new to Plesk and would like to setup a testing wordpress website without changing DNS yet. I assume I need to create a webspace for it. But do I use actual domain or an IP address? Wordpress ties up to the domain as far as I know.
I am noticing that several of my users are wiping out their user root folders ( logs, error docs, etc...) when they fail to use '/httpdocs/' as the root directory when publishing with FTP.
I fixed this by editing the proftpd.conf to use ~/httpdocs/ as the DefaultRoot folder ( instead of just ~/ ).Would it be safer(better) to go through all the ftp users and make the home directory '/httpdocs/' instead of '/' in the admin UI? If yes, what is the best way to do a mass update of this setting for multiple users ( multiple domains ) ?
I moved from one.com where my domain was hosted to strato, where I have a Windows Server 2012 r2 running Plesk 12.The problem is that wordpress is not working properly.one of my installations is accessable, the other isn't!The one that I can access, is working so far, as soon as I install a plugin for price tables and insert the shortcode to one of my pages, I get an "500 Internal Server Error". When I'm doing that on the server I'm seeing this error: "...httpdo cswp-contentpluginspricing-table able-templates td-grayprice_table.php on line 22"
As soon as I remove it and do it with another one, I get an error with an other file!So I guess the problem is not Wordpress but some missing php features, right?Do I need to activate or install some php extensions?
Did a fresh WordPress install on a subscription. I was able to install new plugins via WordPress, and directly upload a theme file without any issues. However, when I tried to use the WordPress import too (uploading an 11MB XML file) I received an Internal Server Error, which brought the entire site down. No part of the WordPress site is accessible. Odd.
Checked the Plesk log - no errors there.Nothing in the IIS logs that shows an error either. When looking at the domain's logs, I see the 500 entry logged, but don't see any sort of reason for it having happened, to be able to resolve:
For some reason I cant seem to download the app on Parallels to create a website using wordpress.I have added the domain, clicked on applications > install apps > featured applications > wordpress..I then get a screen 'downloading and installing wordpress. But however long i leave it on this page (i left it for over an hour one time) it doesnt move off 0% completed.I have tried another domain but it does the same and also tried using google chrome (instead of windows ie9)
how to install older version of WordPress - version 3.7 has just come out and it is the only version I can install via the Plesk panel but unfortunately half of the themes out there only support up to 3.6
Windows setup: Plesk Panel 11.5 - Server 2012r2 - IIS 8.5 - PHP 5.3/5.4/5.5 - mySQL/MSSQL. Server runs behind firewall (NAT). Setup with local DNS pointing all A records towards public IP.
Situation: Installed Wordpress through Plesk applications. (mysql). URL....Installs themes in WP console. Everything ok. Installs theme from file, site gets an 500 error. Sometimes installation of theme goes fine, but once activated or previewed it shows 500 error.
Error: Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator to inform of the time the error occurred and of anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
I have a problem. I am running Plesk 11 with Windows 8. I installed wordpress and joomla. If I want to make one update from joomla 3.0 to 3.0.3 I get the error Internal Server error 500.
In Wordpress I get a error, too: By the update from 3.5 to 3.5.1 i get the error: The directory is write protect or not available.
In WordPress I instert in the wp-config.php following.
define( 'WP_TEMP_DIR', ABSPATH . 'wp-content/' );
Now, does the updates to WordPress and plugins work.
My question is, I am running not only one website with WP. How can I make the settings for all WP instances running on the server? And How can I fix it with the Joomla update?
Window server 2012 r2: I installed wordpress on a domain using plesk. Seemed to work correctly. But when I went to the site www.example.com/wp-admin, the native or default wordpress install started up. I could find no way to bypass this, so I just re-entered all the same settings.
The result was that I ended up with 2 sets of database tables, one set named with my chosen prefix wp_blahblah_ and one set prefixed with wp_blahblah_wp_.
Not good, so I deleted the later set. Wordpress seems to be working, despite one error on the tables I can't reproduce.
I create a new domain then use Plesk Applications tab to install Wordpress. It shows the message:
Code: Error: Unable to install the app because its installation requirements are not met. Contact your hosting provider to resolve this problem. Requirements PHP extension The 'mysql' extension was not found.
However, php is installed and phpinfo shows that the mysql extension is installed. I try different versions of php, cgi/fastcgi but ll fail with the same error. I install Wordpress via FTP and it works fine.
There are knowledge-base articles relating to this error but they are for Linux and the solutions don't work in this case:
[URL] ... [URL] ...
Maybe the Wordpress database has to be created before using Plesk to install Wordpress? If so, what should the database name be? How does Plesk know what the name of the database is that it should use? Why doesn't Plesk just create a database to use?
I had a Problem with my FTP-Backup space, so PLESK couldn't do the daily backups that I configured. The problem with the ftp backup is solved. The backups are running again but there are still many large temporary files in a plesk folder.
Can I just delete them, or is this a bad idea?
The folder: C:Program Files (x86)ParallelsPleskPrivateTemp
I have noticed that i never install any program on my Server and my files of Web only 5 GB and Windows take 15 GB (My Hard Disk Usage 30 GB). Now my disk space available 1.7 GB. But when i go to check in the Recycler folder. There many files are taking up huge amounts of space, some are in excess of 10 GB . So could i deleting these files? How can I automatically delete contents of Recycler folder?
I will have or not problems, (plesk compatibility) with this tool: URL....URL-Rewrite...I need install ModRewrite to use "Permanent Links" with some scripts like "Wordpress". I have try search on the web any alternative, and i found this.
I like know if this "URL-Rewrite" from Microsoft will cause me or not problems with my Plesk 11.5.Additional i like know, if i can create a file "web.config" and this file will accept all my custom configurations?.For example to activate the URL-Rewrite on a Wordpress Install:
I have accidentally deleted httpdocs folder. But after that I create It manually and upload my website. Now It is showing 'Authentication Required' whenever I want to open my site through browser.
I'm trying to create a network connection from Windows (8.1) to my Plesk filesharing folder, which should be straight forward. For some strange reason my Windows desktop PC doesn't establish the connection but shows me an error message, saying that the provided folder is invalid (see attached images).
I have a problem with users that want to download files that are in a protected folder. They don't get the login popup when the click on a link, if they use a direct url then they get the login but the download doesn't begin.
