Parking An External 3rd Level Domain In CPanel
How to add an external third level domain to cPanel?
For example, my main domain at cPanel is one.com, so I can easily add subdomains like second.one.com, third.one.com etc.
But what I need is to point first.two.com to my hosting.
I'm a customer, not the server administrator.
A two.com owner has already configured my server's IP in the two.com zone file for that subdomain.
But how to configure that external 3rd level domain in my cPanel?

Domain Parking - Wildcard Domain Name Server (DNS)?
We have a lot of unused domains that we'd like to setup domain parking for. To keep it simple, we'd like to just change the namesevers to ns1.domainparking.com and ns2.domainparking.com (not real nameservers!) and the domains would then automatically show a simple web page. We use cpanel servers and are wondering how easy this is to do? I've seem mention of wildcard dns? Is that the answer?

Domain Parking With Win2k3 Domain Name Server (DNS)?
i have about 8 different domains i'd like to point to a nameserver (ns1./ns2.mydomain.com) on Win2k3 server, but i can't get them resolved through my nameserver without creating a manual forward lookup entry for each *parked* domain separatly.. Does anyone know how to resolve "parked" domains automatically on Win2k3 DNS?? I just can't find any answer for this, everything i've found required manual creation of lookup entries.. anyone?

Domain Parking
I have got a VPS with basic LAMP installed. I want to park my domains, and create subdomains etc. I don't have any control panel, because I don't know how to install it. My VPS provider provides me a free (public? they use it for all of the VPS they host) name servers, but I don't know how to use them Does anyone have any links to tutorials, or anyone could explain me how to do it? There is some BIND9, but I don't know how to configure it. Lets say my site is stored in /var/www/page1 so is it posible to park domain to display content in that folder? Also I heard about some A records and CNAME, is it better solution? I know that you have to create A record pointing to IP address, but what to do next? I dont have a lot of money to pay my provider (they charge quite a lot for servers configuration, because its unmanaged services) Maybe any trusted person can configure my VPS? (ftp to create users, dns, or explanation how to use A records, secure php; GD). But I cant pay much, only $10 - $15 paypal

Parking A Domain Under A Subdomain
I have 2 domains ie. red.com blue.com. They are both on seperate servers. I want red.com to be a subdomain for blue.com. I went ahead and created an A host for red.blue.com, I then created a virtualhost and everything is working, I can pull up red.blue.com and it pulls up the same data if I were to go to red.com. Here is my issue. I want to have red.com pull up red.blue.com by default so blue.com gets credit for traffic, I am moving red.com and moving it all into blue.com. Hopefully this makes sense. Also, I want to make sure nothing breaks my current search engine results.

VPS For Managing Domain Parking
I have 65 parked domains that are reasonably high traffic (26000 hits per day). I'm looking to run my own VPS server to manage these domains. I would like to have all the domains nameserver records pointing to my VPS and redirect traffic from different Countries to different parking companies based on a php script. Same Domain Use 2 Different 3rd Party Managed DNS Services
Anybody using 2 different 3rd party Managed DNS services like dnsmadeeasy.com and ultradns.com on same domain name ? Reason for doing it is because we are having resolving issues also the domain name is ".in" not ".com/net/org". Now we have added nameservers of both the providers in the domain registrar control panel. Total it has 8 name servers now. I copy pasted exactly same A records & Mx record and same ttl. Q1) The NS records on both the dns services are Different. Should i add the 1st dns providers 4 nameservers in the 2nd dns providers panel and viceversa? Q2) will this setup work anybody done it before .. does create problems?

My Domain Went Back To Showing The Parking Page
I started up a brand new site just over a week ago and set the DNS settings to point the domain to my site. It's been that way ever since. Now I try to login today to update my site and see that every url with my domain goes back to the GoDaddy parking page. Is this more a problem with my host, or GoDaddy?

I use a third-party DNS host for a domain hosted on a shared server with cpanel. The A record point to that server so that the website on it is shown, and for e-mail, it uses a different server. How does the domain have to configured on the cpanel server, the one that hosts the website, so that e-mail originating from within it go to the external mail server? And a related question - after the necessary changes are done, can the cpanel server still send e-mail with that domain name (say, if a script attempts to send an a message)?

how to ban an entire top-level domain? For example ban everyone from Russia by coming from the .ru domain? Or everyone from Lithuania by somehow banning everyone coming from .It ip address. I've had some people from those places try to hack my site and am fed up with it. So I want to ban those two entire countries for the time being using cPanel X's "IP Deny Manager". Mapping An External Domain To A Subdomain?
I have a website where users can sign up and create a site. They can access their website by typing username.example.com. However, I would like to add to this the ability to buy a domain name and point it to username.example.com so example.com/guestbook.html would translate to username.example.com/guestbook.html (external domain and associated user are mapped in the database) Do I need my own DNS server for this or is there a simpler solution? Also, how should the database lookup be performed for this to work?

CPanel + Exim + User Level Filtering
whether our webhost has their configuration messed up, or if this is not genuinely possible with cpanel + exim + shared hosting. Our email server is hosted with the web host, and what we want to do is to not allow certain users to be able to receive (And send) outgoing email to non-local domains e.g. they should only be able send and receive within our hosted domain, @mydomain.com . Now, we've tried doing this using cpanel's user level filters and have setup the following: Rules: If Field To does not contain @mydomain.com OR If Field From does not contain @mydomain.com Action: Fail with message. We've tested these filters using combinations and they seem to be working as far as we can see on cpanel (it has the filter testing feature) Now this works for people sending emails into our domain e.g. someone from hotmail tries sending emails to a user, and it bounces back. But people from inside the domain can send emails to other domains even when they give valid results on the cpanel filter tester.

CPanel Multiple Network Adaptors (1 External, 1 Internal)
We currently have two dedicated servers connected to each other with a crossover cable, and each one also has its own external connection. One is running Server 2k3, one is running CentOS with cPanel. What we want to do is configure the so they can run backups to each other through the crossover cable, saving our bandwidth On the windows machine we have configured it with a static IP of 192.168.0.1 and subnet of 255.255.255.0. This works fine and the machine is running well, on the cPanel machine, when configuring eth1, like so: HWADDR=**:**:**:**:**:** DEVICE=eth1 BOOTPROTO=none ONBOOT=yes NETMASK=255.255.255.0 IPADDR=192.168.0.2 USERCTL=no the windows and cpanel machines can talk to each other fine through the crossover cable (pinging 192.168.0.1 + 2) but then the cPanel machine becomes unaccessable externally, i.e. ping requests time out and no websites on it can be hosted untill eth1 is disabled and the server rebooted.

Read-only System 3rd Time
I have brand new server with CentOS 5.3 and latest CentOS kernel (2.6.18-128.1.10.el5PAE). I have brand new HDDs with no errors (HDDs have only 1000 power-on-hours, server CPU temperature is normal - between 35-42 C). My server went read-only without any reason. I need to fsck main / partition (/home is separated) and it cleaned journal, then server became online. After 2 weeks it happens again - I did again fsck on / partition and it recovered journal as before. I decided to ask Data Center to replace RAID-1 card and memory - they did it. After 3 weeks server went read-only again. I ssh into server and saw that kswapd0 process is using 100% cpu and load is over 170. After fsck it recovered journal on / and server is again available.

3rd Party Security Services
I have security concerns with my current hosting of eCommerce sites. The hosts responses to my specific concerns are vague and unsatisfactory. Even when anomalies are pointed out, ( i.e A traffic domain was suddenly pointing to an IP on a server in another country) they return answers like, "Yes, there was a problem, but its all fine now." I have considered moving to a new host, however, for price reasons, I like my current host. This has caused me to consider having the security of my server checked and perhaps managed by a third party. I have no experience with choosing such a service, and research so far has raised more concerns than answers as to how and what may happen by requesting the use of such a service, the reputability of said service providers, and the costs of implementing the recommendations etc. My main concern is to do with Mysql database manipulation and DNS manipulation within the network. However, a general server vulnerability assessment would be assumed beneficial.

Precision Effect 3rd Year
This week I am about to pay for my 3rd year at Precision Effect. (Since December 2006) I've had several hosts in the years before, but after signing up for Precision Effect (heard about them on WHT), I have had absolutely no reason to change. When I first signed up, I was worried that I would have to manually upload all the files to precision effect by first downloading them to my computer and then re-uploading them to Precision. After chatting with their tech support, however, I was able to give them a link to a rar file on my previous server which they downloaded directly to the new server and decompressed for me. They even ran a database restore with a backup file from the old database server. I could have done this myself (as I'm sure most of you could) but I really liked to see that the tech support took the time to get me settled in, especially since (at the time) I was only paying about $20/year. Past hosts would have just brushed me off. In the past two years, I only had to contact tech support twice. Both times, I received an almost immediate response to the email (I usually email late at night) and it really felt as if they were dropping everything to fix my problem. I'm still on one of their older (not their "LiteSpeed") servers, so I can't attest to the speed of the new ones, but my server has always been very fast. My websites are a bit graphics/database intensive and I've never had load time issues. I've also never had unscheduled downtime (a couple of times they would have some small amount of downtime for upgrades) that my "downtime detector" found, though its accuracy is only about once every 15 minutes. So, this is a long-winded review, but Precision Effect is highly recommended!

if you use a 3rd party for email provision (eg everyone.net) and you alter cname and mx to point to everyone.net do you - need spamassasin on the VPS ? - turn off email services on the VPS and therefore save ram and cpu power? - still have the ability to generate email via scripts and send from the server?

3rd Party Spam Solution Recommendations
I have been running my own spam protection on a dedicated server for a few years now. On the whole I probably catch 95% of spam. Having just built a new server to replace my old one I'm keep to re-evaluate how I filter spam. I am particularly interested in 3rd party filtering via MX records (why bother using my resources when I can pay someone a small amount to do a much better job than me?). Can you recommend any providers? I have used Postini in the past and like them but I can't find many resellers (I've seen a few references to $1 accounts on WHT..?) I need a solution for approx 10 domains and 4 actual mailboxes (with quite a few aliases across all domains per mailbox).

3rd Party Management Vs Managed Hosting From Host
I'm finally ready to move from a shared environment to a dedicated server. I don't know anything about server set up and management. Therefore I'm looking for a managed solution. Reading through this great forum I found out that I can either go with a fully managed solution by the hosting company or go with an self-managed host and hire a third party administrator. This will be my first dedicated server project. I would like to keep monthly cost below $400. Not necessarily looking for the cheapest deal out there, but rather for good service and stable performance. I have heard good things about the Planet and liquidweb here on this forum. If I can find a reliable 3rd party management company I might be able to look into softlayer and/limestone. I'm trying to decide whether I should go with inhouse management or 3rd party management.

Send Mail From Web Form Using 3rd Party SMTP
I have a CDONTS script which has been sending mail from a client's website form to their address. However, the script has suddenly stopped working. It doesn't error, they just don't receive the mail. I've tried CCing myself in the script and the mail is not getting through. The script itself is tried and tested and syntaxially correct. I think the problem is because they're using their own exchange server, not the web hosts' mail server. Therefore I would expect that mail sent from the web script wouldn't go through because there is no local mail server to process it. The problem is that the script hasn't changed, the host say their system hasn't changed, and the client's IT team say their exchange settings haven't changed! I could set up a CDOSYS script to use their Exchange server to deal with the email, but their IT support won't allow relaying, so I don't think this is possible. Is connecting to their Exchange box the only option, or should the website host still be able to process the web-script-generated mail despite not being their mail provider? I'm getting a lot of grief here, but it can't be the script that has suddenly broken because nobody has touched it!

Addon Domain In Cpanel
I create a abc.com domain hosting in whm. then I login to abc.com cpanel to AddOn Domain. I try to addon xyz.com into abc.com cpanel. But when i enter to xyz.com website it always show "Great Success ! Apache is working on your cPanel and WHM™ Server" cPanel and Apache page. The domain is already more then 2 days and ping already propogate to server. May i know is httpd.conf or mod_security problem?

I found that the domain name add-on I had before in my cPanel account is missing, so I tried to add-on a domain name back, it says: Error from domain wrapper: Domain already exists, it was not added.: the.domainaddon.com The question is how do I clear them all off related to this domain? I tried to edit /etc/userdomains, /etc/trueuserdomains and found nothing httpd.conf only shows the subdomain and nothing else. I editted /var/cpanel/users/{username} and remove the last line XDNS1=domainaddon.com

CPanel Domain Name Server (DNS)
After spending 1 hour wondering why all domains suddenly stopped working and the hosting server was showing no signs of fail. A simple dns service restart on my secondary dns server fixed this. Is there any way to auto restart the dns service upon failure on the cpanel dns only build? Also why would the secondary dns server failing, cause the domain to stop working. The primary dns/hosting server was fine.

First Time W/o Cpanel - Setting Up A Domain
Heres what Ive done created a new user and set their home directory as /home/<user>. I then made a public_html folder within their home dir. Then I went into httpd.conf, and added a virtual host for that domain with the document root to the public_html dir i created . At this point, what is there left to do? I need to mess with the DNS right? Anything else?

CPanel Parked Domain Email
I have a domain hosted which is the primary domain with all its file hosted, it also has its own email accounts setup. I now have another domain, i want to make the new domain the primary domain for the account which is hosting my website and the previous domain to be parked on top of it - this is with the use of cPanel. Now from what ive experienced i should be able to use and setup email accounts from within cPanel from both domains. This is my question. The previous domain already has email accounts setup, if i make the switch and make it a parked domain onto the new primary domain will i still be able to retain the same email accounts/passwords/email? e.g. if i have email@[url]after the switch i want email@[url]to be under the new primary account[url]
