Jan 18, 2008Does anyone know any North Dallas (Richardson/Plano/Garland) datacenters? I found sunguard but looking for more to compare. I've heard of an AT&T datacenter but can't get anyone on the phone.

Processor : INTEL Core2Duo E6400
Memory : 2048MB RAM Standard
Bandwidth : 10Mbps Unmetered Bandwidth
Control Panel :PLESK 8.3
I would like something similar, but in the UK (or near by), and closely priced to what I pay now.
For the complete package above, I pay $250/month.
Does anyone know of a great service across the ocean which has similar services, for a great price? I don't need the full 10mbit line, a 5mbit line would suit my needs. I would prefer Plesk, and at least 2048MB of ram. The processor should be comparative.
My website is 100% Vbulletin, and is quite large in size (hence the server requirements).

Sep 18, 2008I'm the proprietor of a high-bandwidth site, and obviously, it's important to me to get the cheapest bandwidth possible. I've looked around, and it seems like European web hosts provide cheaper prices than North American hosts.
However, most of my users are in North America. Will a server in Europe be able to deliver the full available bandwidth to users in the US? If not, how much of it should I expect?

We are in need of mainly incoming bandwidth only, and would like to do some trading if possible. A hosting provider would be an ideal match as they should have excess incoming bandwidth to spare.

Apr 27, 2009Are there any FutureHosting customers out there (Dallas Datacenter) who wouldn't mind PM'ing me their domains to test SMTP response time tomorrow? I have a server with them that is showing intermittent SMTP timeouts and response time spikes close to 20 seconds and I am trying to figure out if it is something on my node or the network.
I don't need anything special other than a domain name -- I won't be pushing email through the server just need to know how quickly the SMTP service provides a welcome message and responds to a HELO command. I will share any reports I produce with you.
The spikes are just occuring during business hours and support is having difficult tracking down the issue.
Softlayer Alternative? East Coast/Dallas Or EU
Oct 1, 2008Ive recently been getting blips on my private lan with SL and have been unable to get it resolved.
Everything from firewall configs (despite its not being changed in 6 months) to the fibre being dirty and switch flapping has been blamed so being in this position and going in circles for 24 hours means I'm considering alternatives.
The issue would be so bad but the issue is on the 16 core box used for the DB and it uses the iSCSI which means the data is enjoying itself getting corrupted. It wouldnt be so bad if after I'm told its fixed, repair the DB it happens all over again.
So bascially this is what I need elsewhere
1x 4 Core Harpertown 4GB and 500GB in Raid 10
1x 4 Core Clovertown 4GB and 250GB in Raid 5
3x 4 Core Clovertown 4GB and single disk
1x Opteron Dual Core 2GB and single disk
1x 15 Core Tigerton 16GB and 250GB in Raid 10 or iSCSI
Bandwidth around 10TB a month
Id need a private lan and really I would rather a 1GB port on the private side.
To get away from the problems im having I would also rather a dedicated switch as to avoid the kind of issues im having now

Oct 25, 2007where I can get higher then a T1 connection. T1 anymore is close to a high speed cable connection. As high as my cable company(InsightBB) offersis 15mbps. But i know there is some OC-13 connections that go right through my state. From Chicago to St. Louis.
What I am wondering is there anywhere I can call to see how much it would be to run say a 50mbps or even 100mbps. I have searched and searched and cant find one in Springfield, Illinois.
I was also wondering if anyone new of any Colo centers in or closely around Springfield,Il I know of Hanson Information system's but they only do shared and dedicated servers and the servers are in Texas they are just based out of here.
(Not to DC owners If there isn't one in Springfield id say it be a good idea to have one. We rarely have major weather issues bout the same as chicago or STL An as far as I can tell there isnt any here. An property is pretty cheap here.)
