if our host is experiencing technical problems, or if they're in financial collapse. Since 5 PM Sat., many sites hosted by powerfulhosting.com of Santa Monica have gone dead, mostly on NS01.POWERFULHOSTING.COM and some on NS1.IOCUS.COM They include:
and many more. Over the weekend, tech help claimed the problems were assocaited with an "upgrade" to a new server. As the site owners started talking to each other, and the outage grew into the work week, Powerful Hosting stopped responding to inquiries, even from longtime clients. Their phone mailboxes are full and silent.
Now, I'm not an administrator or even a very quick FTPer, but these stores have burned to the ground and there are are livelihoods on the line. Can anyone in this community find any evidence suggesting a geniune technical glitch on their servers? A couple of people in our group think maybe they can't pay a server bill, in which case we all need to bail out immediately.
I was sent a link to fill in a questionnaire for servage. I filled it out totally honest the over all rating was pretty poor but they did have one or two upsides which I did give a good rating, but over all it was a bad review for them.
I got a confirm page thanking me for taking the survey.
2 weeks later I then received another e-mail saying I had not entered the questionnaire and would I like to enter it? I already did 2week earlier.
So on to their infamous customer un-service. I told them what happened and true to servage form I got a copy and paste answer that had no relevance to the question,
What URL? So I answered back, its your own survey that you sent an e-mail inviting me to take you must know what it is? They then answered they don't know what happened to it and they will look in to it. This is the first time I have had a proper answer to any question from servage.
So my point being are they fixing the survey in their favour? I mean the amount of negative reviews they get just about anywhere else on the web they wont publish that on their own site.
I have apache 2.2 on Linux going through the a firewall to a backend sharepoint server. My sharepoint application has anonymous and authenticated traffic. This works fine most of the time but we randomly get (104)Connection reset by peer: proxy: error reading status line from remote server. I was able to fix this by adding *SetEnv force-proxy-request-1.0 1 *SetEnv proxy-nokeepalive 1 *RequestHeader unset Expect early But after I added this I was then no longer able to log in. I would receive a *HTTP/1.1" 401 my understanding is KeepAlive is required for NTLM to work so making sure I can stop the connection resets which are unacceptable and still allow the authenticated users to log in.
So I finally decided to upgrade apache from 1.3 to 2.2 and thought I'd upgrade php while I'm doing it. Everything isntalls ok and the php installer says it has configured apache etc but I just can't get it to parse php. It just loads a blank page!
I have a client trying to log in via ftp. They cannot log in and get this error.
[14:36:05] Resolving host name "www.domain.com" [14:36:05] Connecting to "IP ex 1.1.1.1" Port: 21 [14:36:06] No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it. [14:36:06] Cannot login waiting to retry (30s)... [14:36:06] Client closed the connection.
I restarted FTP and checked to see if apf was blocking them and neither worked. She is using smartftp and I also had her try filezilla and neither worked.
However I am able to log in fine from my pc using this login info.
This is returning all kinds of IP address results such as: 58.216.50.2 Can you suggest how I can tweak the grep command to search for the right IP addresses?
I want to scan precisely for IP addresses starting 216.2*.
We've been given the following information about spam, and want to track the source of it down:
216.2x.x.x - email spam
So any ideas how I can scan these logfiles more precisely for the IP address I need?
I was wondering, if installing ffmpeg-php is worth the trouble for shared hosting accounts or if it is too much of a resource hog. I had a couple of requests for that but I am not used to this extension.
We are in the process of changing web hosting companies and I am having difficulty in moving all the directories. We are a membership based company with over 8,900 members. The original web site (called Site a) has over 26,700 individual directories along with many tutorials in video format. The entire site is approximately 80 GB in size.
When I had the second web hosting company try to move the site via tar they indicated that the tar would abort at about 4 GB every time.
Is there any other way to move this site or get a complete backup of the site. I have no problem moving the MySQL databases.
I managed to install xcache on my Centos 4.5 server.
Xcache is shown in my phpinfo, but I think there's problem since php -v gives me following error, I don't have a clue how to fix this. See attached images. I tried several different configurations in xcache.ini, but all with this same result.
It seems that this error doens't occur always.

I am having trouble setting up webdav on IIS6. I wasted all day on this today.
So far I have set it up to work over the internet with anonymous access.
Now I want to turn on:
1) basic authentication
2) SSL
I try to turn on (1) but:
- when try to access over the internet, it prompts for my login but it doesn't accept the login and keeps reprompting me.
- when I try to access from the local server, it seems to accept the login but gives an error 'the folder you entered does not appear to be valid, please choose another'
I have created a new user who has permission to access both the directory on the server and the virtual directory in IIS. I have turned on the webdav extension. I have tried reinstalling IIS too.
I'm trying another cpanel hosting service in addition to one with which I have a main domain and a bunch of addons. I'm used to being able to create the addon accounts regardless of whether I've already changed the ns for the domains being added yet. In the new service I'm trying, I am unable to to do that, but instead get an error message which appears online in various forum posts:
Quote:
Error from park wrapper: Using nameservers with the following IPs: exampleIP 1,example IP 2 Sorry, the domain is already pointed to an IP address that does not appear to use DNS servers associated with this server. Please transfer the domain to this servers nameservers or have your administrator add one of its nameservers to /etc/ips.remotedns and make the proper A entries on that remote nameserver.
With the hosting service where I can always create the accounts any time, I use a secure login that contains my account ip: [url] I will only do secure logins, and not any unsecure http logins. The other hosting service where I am unable to create the addons does not appear to have that available for my normal account url or ip, at least it doesn't work when I've tried, but after searching I found out that you can get a secure login in another way, so I am able to securely log into my account using [url] but this is not the same as my account's IP or the normal shorter url for my regular unsecure login. I would guess that's the significant difference which allows me to create accounts any time in the first account vs. not at all in the second - that I'm using my account's normal ip for the one, but the longer-than-normal secure urls for the other (?), although I don't fully know how that would work.
There is however, one significant difference in the second account which I do not have in the first, and that is that I have SSH access in the second account. So, I am wondering if there is a simple method for using that SSH access to change a setting in my second account in such a way that I can have the same freedom to create addons there first and then attend to ns changes and so forth later when I'm ready? Especially is there a way to do this only once for the whole account, instead of having to do it for each and every addon? Thanks in advance to those who might really know the score on all this stuff and exactly what the best solution or solutions are.
I'm noticed I was getting bounced email errors from a company I was sending email through and I further investigated this by running a dnsreport on my domain.
Turns out that it fails at Acceptance of NULL <> sender, Acceptance of postmaster address, and Acceptance of abuse address. The domain that I ran a test on is using a new IP that I had recently added to my Direct Admin server. None of the other domains on my server are having issues like this.
Is is possible that I need to do something to enable these new IP addresses in exim? I mean, exim obviously responds to that IP address, but it seems to be having some issues with it.
im sitting on a VPS with cpanel+exim 4.66 installed. email accounts are working & i can receive/send emails. however im getting a few errors from some servers that i send email to
Code: asdf@asdf.com.au SMTP error from remote mail server after RCPT TO:<asdf@asdf.com.au>: host asdf.mail.asdf.net.au [111.111.111.111]: 550 Reverse DNS is not setup correctly for this host. At the moment, my VPS has 3 IP addresses, which are (imaginary) 192.168.0.1, 192.168.0.2, 192.168.0.3,
Exim is currently sending emails(webmail, smtp auth'd php scripts) via 192.168.0.3
my domain.com at the top level resolves to 192.168.0.1, mail.domain.com resolves to 192.168.0.3(aname - should this be a cname?) and the MX pointer record points at mail.domain.com
if i do a reverse lookup of my 192.168.0.3, it resolves to:
Code: 192.168.0.3 resolves to "3.0.168.192-static.reverse.softlayer.com"Top Level Domain: "softlayer.com" which is my VPS host.
Have i configured something wrong here? should 192.168.0.3 be resolving to my domain.com instead?
So we just switched servers, but some people are reporting that they can either not access the site, or are not being displayed the newest content. What is causing this?
suddendly some of my sites in my server is taking sessions errors...then after a while all its going ok and then again the same problem...the problem still continues.from what might be the problem?a php update?mysql update?any exprerience?
i havent made any change.my server is linux has centos 4.7
I recently got my very own dedicated server, as in bought one and it is sitting in my desk right now.
I've installed Centos 4.4 (that's what my web server uses, so I just use it for continuity), connected it to my router.
I've gone through a lot of different steps and here's where I am right now:
Because I have a dynamic IP address, I use a free service to direct towards my server. [url]. It works just fine.
I also have to port forward port 80 to go to the server, instead of my laptop or the other desktop currently running off of our router.
I don't know how to set up a web account on the server, so I discovered UserDir. I enabled it in the httpd.conf file. But when I try to access it [url]I get a permissions error. I've made sure the directories are CHMOD'd correctly... so I don't know why I can't access it.
I've noticed I've been getting a lot of "Copying to tmp table" and from a google search this is bad. Any idea on how I can fix this in my shared hosting environment?
There is 1000MBPS network set up between three computers and server.
Server has files which program saves.
Program is being run in three different computers.
Each computer tries to get into same file (eg last bill) that was created before. First computer goes in within seconds. second minutes and third just crashes. No matter which computer runs it first, last one crashes.
So called "server" is running on Windows XP pro since it just needs to keep one program files. However I cant find out whats causing file sharing over network bug that crashes access to same file if connection from many computers.
I have had my websites hosted with 1and1.fr for nearly 3 years now and have never had the slightest issue with them. I used to host a static average traffic website plus a punBB forum and some low traffic joomla based websites (nothing that needs much power as you can see).
A week ago, I bought a website (wordpress blog) and the guy included two proxies in the sale. I installed the two proxies and had a lot of trouble installing the wordpress blog so I moved it to another host where it now works all right. However, I am still getting 500 Internal Server Errors on my initial host (I thought it was caused by the wordpress blog) on all my websites hosted at 1and1 and it happens almost every other page!
I have many questions:
- are the proxies the cause?
- how can I know my websites have been moved to another server?
- do you think a VPS can solve the problem, or do I need a dedicated server?
- what is the best solution for hosting proxies?
I have sent a ticket to them yesterday and I am still waiting!
I moved over a 400mb ish forum database for VBB to another server and ran into
MySQL Error : Duplicate entry '0' for key 1
Which I imagine would have to do with auto incriment? What can I do about this? Is there a way I can bring it over and not hit this? Way to fix it? In the meantime all of the viewers cannot use the forum because I was forced to put it into maintenance mode so that no one can run into errors etc.
After upgrade to Parallels plesk v 12.0.18 update #5 we were getting a blank screen. We have managed to get logged into the server but have errors - plus all the websites are down with a 404 error Apache Server at gardenbuildings.domainame.co.uk Port 443.
On the Plesk management it is showing: New configuration files for the Apache web server were not created due to the errors in configuration templates:

Detailed error descriptions were sent to you by email. Please resolve the issues and click here to generate broken configuration files once again or here to generate all configuration files.
Also when trying to resolve the issues and generating all configuration files I am getting this error:
