I installed a HC7 software that is manage host to provide my company 's customer. I have a problem with Mail Server is MDaemon, it cannot connect HC7 while Database Server, DNS server and Webserver are connected.
All things r ok except of MDamon. Exactly, I cannot create/add mail domain in HC7 for the website is created. However, when i opened MDaemon interface to check then i recognize mail domain with same name as webise that i have created in HC7. i return HC7, add mail domain for that website again. Result, it occur errror : Unable to create user.
MDaemon of tray icon is blue , is it right configure?
if anyone knows of any shared hosting company that supports the out-of-the-box Model-View-Controller (MVC) asp.net template and which version (the latest at the moment is Preview 5).
Moreover, does it support .net 3.5 with sp1, IIS7, SQL 2005 and ajax control tookit?
I want to configure our locally installed MDaemon server to accept SMTP connections only from the localhost, as we send all our emails using a web interface. But, i'm confused configuring this.
I've setup MDaemon mail server on my local PC to send personal emails to Yahoo Groups.
Maximum recipients per message is set to 100 for the clients.
When there are more than 1 messages pending to be sent to yahoogroups.com, mdaemon creates a message to be sent to this domain and add 31 users in To (BCC) list and the message fails as it should, saying "too many recipients".
There should only be one recipient in To list, but I could not locate the setting where to set maximum recipients for outgoing email
I'm also searching mdaemon forums, but as i get quick response from WHT...
I've been with Futurehosting for some time now, and have been very happy with them, but am having issues with 256 guaranteed RAM and cpanel, they've been very helpful, but I've been thinking about other control panels besides Virtuozzo, since I seem to have this issue frequently.
what do you guys think, do you guys like Virtuozzo? or do you prefer Xen, OpenVZ? what do you guys like?
I seem to have frequent issues with their not being enough RAM available to run the control panel, and I'm thinking it may be Virtuozzo related, in which case, I may want to try someone else who runs a different control panel possibly? I don't know
switching providers would be difficult, as I can't see myself getting a better price then I already get with Future Hosting right now, but I'm just thinking its gotta be Virtuozzo related, its gotta be, and I've heard with OpenVZ its got a panel where it will install applications for you, so you don't have to mess with compiling or yumming for stuff, that would be neat.
what are you guys opinions on different VPS control panels?
I mean, its either that, or go up to 512 guaranteed, 1024 burstable, which I don't think will still help any. I get service crashes all the time because there isn't enough RAM available to run cpanel basically, and my websites take up less space then most $1 shared hosting plans, which seems puzzling as to why this happens so often, so I'm thinking its gotta be a Virtuozzo issue of some sort maybe. I mean, I don't even use a gig of bandwidth every month between 3 domains combined. well maybe a gig combined at most, most of my sites clock out around the 450mb mark by the end of the month.
I can find my way around linux but I don't know it well enough to administer the server without a control panel...
All I really need is to manage basic functions for a single domain like email accounts, dns, backups and also see some visitor stats. Webmin seems to be missing some stuff that I need to do...
Cpanel is nice but it's expensive and seems to be designed for a reseller who is going to sell web hosting accounts. All I need is to manage one domain... Am I stuck paying for all the stuff I don't need with cpanel or what are the options?
You know we done some great job on tweaking up WHMCS and also I think that we done some great job on setting up multi locations on WHMCS (almost 6
months hard work, almost hard…joke). Ok enough about us
So, actually we will show you some trick how to get coded WHMCS files work property for you.
You may think that it is another boring topic of how to or something, but unfortunately it’s not
I was looking for a lot of information of how to tweak up WHMCS and DirectAdmin together, but could find only bits and pieces of it…
In the mean time I would like to dedicate this topic to anyone who is currently seeking new web hosting services.
I had done one more post about how to get moving around hosting control panels, but still writing proper review about that confusing transfer process.
Choosing a web host for your business is one of the most important decisions you can make. If your site is down, your business is down. If you are
serious about your website and want to get solutions to your common hosting problems, this article will give you ten good reasons to choose for a global hosting company.
1.Hosting companies that work globally have different Data Centre to better service their customers. In case of a hardware failure, the system will automatically redirect traffic to the nearest Data Centre.
Don’t let server downtime and a slow connection cost you money!
2.Because of the different Data Centre, the backup systems are always secure. If a disaster strikes where your computer is located, your data remains safe in a remote location.
3.Global Hosting Companies work with a live support system. You can manage all aspects of your account 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. No time zones for services provided.
4.A support team is available 24/7 via phone and email to provide top-level support when you need it.
5.Because of the variety of customers from different continents, global hosting companies are able to offer flexible systems. They give prompt reaction time to customers’ needs and expectations.
6.Global hosting companies offer multiple compatible languages and language capabilities
7.Offering support of multiple database engines and both versions of PHP 4 and PHP 5 applications.
8.A support team routinely updates your server’s operating system and hardware with the newest updates, latest security patches and upgrades to ensure maximum security.
9.Global hosting companies have an experienced migration team to do all proper migration planning so that the transition can take place without a hitch.
10.Most global hosting companies have their own community website that allows customers to communicate and offer advice, and to share ideas and business solutions with each other.
Starting a business is difficult and picking the best out of thousands of web hosting companies out there is very crucial. Pick the right company to go with.
There are many companies providing great web hosting services so feel free to search for one that suits your needs.
Please review any additional information maybe I forgot to mention something…
Also I got some bad reviews of my first post in forum; even some people treated my post as a spam, but in some way information sharing in not
I installed Centos4.7, now i am installing the ISPCongif2 but at the last step after configuring the ssl, i was asked to enter my host and domain, but it gives me error the url is not reachable.
The domain is not hosted anywhere but i created an entry for it in the /etc/hosts [root@serv ~]# cat /etc/hosts # Do not remove the following line, or various programs # that require network functionality will fail. 127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost 192.168.112.41 serv.mynewdomain.com serv 192.168.112.41 mynewdomain.com
Do i have to make anychanges on any configuration files?
Here are the steps i did to setup this server:
1- I purchased an ip 64.xx.xxx.xxx from my ISP provider.
2- I installed centos4.7 on my PC.
3- Installed the webmin.
4- On the router i pointed the 64.xx.xxx.xxx to 192.168.112.41 what are the steps please i need to follow to get this server running?
i have a hosting account which hosts a couple of my sites. Now i have contracted a new site project to a programmer.
I want to give him access to the control panel so that he can manage the site completely(setup database, mail etc) without letting him on any of the info on my other two sites. For my current hosting account it means providing him with my hosting account administrative login, that means he has access to other sites too.
The other option is providing him only a ftp account to upload files only to the particular directory for that project. But the problem with this is that then he cannot setup a database etc. on his own, he needs to provide me sql script which i then use to create the database from the control panel.
Can a reseller hosting account solve my problem..... seperate control panel (administrate all things like databse, mail, password protecting files) for each site?
Any other suggestions, this is the first time i bought hosting.
Any reading material(books or online) to get familiar with each aspect of running and managing a website(mailservers, security, dns for site, backups etc. etc.)?
one of my servers has 2x250gb hard drives in hardware RAID 0 using a 3ware controller, but ive now got the following error message 3 times prior to 3 server crashes, my server supplier beleves it one of the drives failing (i have backups on a non raid drive so rthats fine) but i suspect the controller, whats everyone else think...

I have been a solid cPanel / WHM user for the past 2 years, we have now since downsized our hosting requirements and also wanted to cut our panel costs and so we moved to PLESK 12 Web Edition. The server is on a trial license and has been working fine with no problems for the past 2 weeks. Today all of a sudden none of the websites are accessible, although I can ping all IP's on server and login via SSH.I cannot access any websites or hosting control panel, I have disabled IP tables as this was the cause of a problem last time.
Why this happened was there an update at around 5AM this morning which could have caused this?I have restarted the server, I can successfully ping / resolve address from SSH.
We had one of RAID controllers failed on our IBM RS/6000 server. There are two RAID controllers on this server, one holds the OS (AIX) and the other one holds our database and this is the one that failed.
Anyway, I've always thought that once a RAID controller failed and we put in a replacement controller, it will reformat all the hard drives that were connected to the failed controller, which means we would have to restore the data from backup once the new controller is in place. However, the IBM technician we dispatched was able to build the new controller and connect all the drives to the new controller without reformatting the drives. I think he copied the RAID controller's configurations using SMIT. I think that was amazing; it saved us a lot of time.
My question is, is this something unique to IBM hardware/AIX or other hardware and OSes (Linux, Windows, etc.) have similar capability?
I am looking for a cheap sata controller that can do JBOD with a PCI Express interface(preferably low profile, 2U server) and proper driver support for linux and solaris. The cheapeast one I found is from supermicro but I don't think they can be used in non-supermicro servers. Any suggestions?
3w-9xxx: scsi0: AEN: INFO (0x04:0x0053): Battery capacity test is overdue:.
When I'm in the CLI console (tw_cli) and tries to test the battery, I'm seeing the following:
Quote:
//vpsXX1> /c0/bbu test Depending on the Storsave setting, performing the battery capacity test may disable the write cache on the controller /c0 for up to 24 hours. Do you want to continue ? Y|N [N]:
This is a live production server with client VPSs on it. Anyone here actually did 3ware battery test before on production system? Is it ok to do this? I'm seeking someone actually performed test operation before, not from someone just assumes it will be ok.
I have a 3ware 9650SE-24M8 RAID Controller. It was working fine for a few days and today while I was changing the RAID configs and installing different OSs, it just stopped working. Now when I boot my machine up it does not even detect any hard drives or RAID controller. I looked inside the box and the LED light on the RAID controller that is usually solid green is now blinking red. I googled for solutions but all searches lead me to useless information such as blinking red lights on the server case.
This problem has happened to me twice on the very same server. I can't seem to figure out what's wrong with it.
My raid controller is Areca 1160 + 1GB Ram + 16xWD4000YS. Initially I had the problem of the disk dropping from the array randomly. I suppose this problem has been fixed since I have upgraded disks firmware according to WDC suggestion.
But there's another problem now. From my observation, the controller is randomly dropped off the system. When this happen, I cannot read/write anything from the disk at all. I can SSH in and able to run Areca CLI tool to see what's going on but only to get the message saying that it cannot find any Areca controller.
My only option is to restart the server and fsck all those 16 disks (not fun). I checked the log on the RAID controller itself, there was no sign of problem at all. No alert, no disk being dropped off the array, no events logged at all.
I'm using CentOS 4.3. Firmware on the RAID controller is 1.41, latest is 1.42. (Stupid me for not upgrading firmware when server crashed.) I plan to take the server down for RAID firmware upgrade soon. I just hoped that it's just problem with the firmware, not the controller or backplane itself.
We have a domain portal controller for windows. All the machines in the n/w are connected to it. So, when ever an user enters the user name and password it gets authenticated from the domain portal controller. So, my login can be accessed anywhere in the netowrk.
Example : my login is sabarishks which can be used in any machine under this domain controller.
But, if the system is installed with both linux and windows only windows username will be authenticated using the domain controller. Whereas, the linux users will work with in the system using /etc/shadow file. Hope, I am clear so far.
The requirement is same as above. The authentication mechanism for linux should work as windows. When ever an user is entered with a username and passwd, it should get authenticated from domain controller.
I mean, the user created in a windows machine should be used for linux login also. More importantly, It should work in all systems.
Which technology can be used to do this? Samba,Ldap, NFs or what?
we've been testing CentOS 5.3 on Intel DG35EC board (G35+ICH8+82566 Gb NIC), and found that the write speed out of 7200rpm SATA-II drive, connected to on-board ICH8 controller, is consistently under 10MB/sec which is quite horrible!
the same set of hardware can get 100MB+/sec transfer rate with Debian 5.0 and FreeBSD 7.1, just not the CentOS5.3! it doesn't matter whether AHCI mode is selected in BIOS or not, and of course BIOS has been updated with latest version.
I indicated that I've basically been using my webhosting company as "file storage".
1) I create all my files in .html using notepad
2) My files are limited to .html, .jpg, .gif, (and a couple of .js and .css) files.
3) My domain is not connected with my webhost; I use the nameserver zoneedit.com and I use URL forwarding and mask/cloak the domain the address bar (using multiple domains) as follows:
domain1.com --> forwards to [url]
domain2.com --> forwards to [url]
domain3.com --> forwards to [url]
4) For uploading files, I go to ftp://123.456.78 and drop/drag/copy/paste files into the window using my browser
5) I'm able to password protect the subdirectories as I choose.
---------------
I called my webhost, Hostik, and told them that I was unable to do anything on my web console. I can't change a password, create a user, or even access my usage/bandwidth quotas.
They told me that I'm on an "old server" using the windows-based console (probably C-Panel / Control Panel) and they're in the process over the next three months of transfering everyone over to "Plesk".
So, they set me up with a new Plesk account, while keeping the old one in place, so that I could move/transfer my files to the Plesk account.
When I went to Plesk, I realized things are not the same:
1) In my Control Panel / C-Panel, I had a unique IP URL Address - [url]
2) In Plesk, it seems there's a set IP URL Address - [url] - that everyone shares.
3) I was told that in Plesk, many people use that IP URL address and that I'm supposed to place my files into the "httpdocs" folder.
Appearently, this is a system of shared hosting whereby many people have the same IP URL address (different from what I had before) and it recognizes each account by the login or something, so the "httpdocs" folder would identify my domain.
I was then told that in Plesk, I must have my domain affixed to the Plesk account.
In other words, I can no longer do what I was doing before, having my domain separated in another location and using URL forwarding from an outside nameserver.
--------------------------
So, my original question is what's the difference between Plesk vs. C-Panel/Control Panel?
Perhaps I answered most of it above.
Is it correct that I can't do things the way I've been doing them so far if that's the case?
It might be that Plesk is not for me and I may need to find a host that gives me my own unique IP URL Address. However, I was informed that not many companies are doing that as most are switching over to Plesk.
In addition, Hostik does not offer multiple domains.
In response to this thread, David recommended I try synhosting.com
synhosting.com has "Multiple Websites". I assume this means mulitiple domains. Correct?
What's my best option at this point?
1) Find a host that has C-Panel / Control Panel (if any there are)?
2) Use a service such as synhosting.com and move all my domains over to them?
3) If I do use synhosting.com, am I required to move my domains over to their nameservers?
4) I have my MX Mail records pointing to Fastmail.fm for my email virtual domains. Would I still be able to do this if my domain is dedicated to a webhost and opt not to use their email feature?
5) Should I get rid of this old-school thought of using my web host as "file storage" and stop this practice of using URL forwarding and cloaking?
I tried contacting the live support from fatcow, and he was no help. It was probably just the guy i had but thats not the point. I think i am going to go with them but what control panel do they use?
