MDaemon Within Hosting Controller Panel (HC7)
May 17, 2007I installed a HC7 software that is manage host to provide my company 's customer. I have a problem with Mail Server is MDaemon, it cannot connect HC7 while Database Server, DNS server and Webserver are connected.
All things r ok except of MDamon. Exactly, I cannot create/add mail domain in HC7 for the website is created. However, when i opened MDaemon interface to check then i recognize mail domain with same name as webise that i have created in HC7. i return HC7, add mail domain for that website again. Result, it occur errror : Unable to create user.
MDaemon of tray icon is blue , is it right configure?
Hosting-IE's Server Setup Times
Apr 8, 2008I bought a VPS package hosted at Hosting-IE from someone I knew, since they were not going to be able to use it. Its a linux VPS, and it's done me well. Based on that I decided to purchase my own package, a Windows VPS.
After payment, I messaged support about a broken auto response email they sent out, then asked how long server setup time should be. They responded 1-2 working days. Fine.
Well, its been 7 days since then. I'm 1/4 of the way through the month I've paid for, and still no VPS. I messaged them back asking for my server or a refund, no responses since then.
My previous host set up my dedicated box within a working day, and that involved setting up the hardware too. Over a week for a VPS is too long.
Is my experience with Hosting-IE abnormal or should I be demanding my loot back? Is there any other VPS provider out there that can offer me similar stats at the same price as Hosting-IE?
for a simple package setup, this has gone on for far too long.

Nov 23, 2007I've setup MDaemon mail server on my local PC to send personal emails to Yahoo Groups.
Maximum recipients per message is set to 100 for the clients.
When there are more than 1 messages pending to be sent to yahoogroups.com, mdaemon creates a message to be sent to this domain and add 31 users in To (BCC) list and the message fails as it should, saying "too many recipients".
There should only be one recipient in To list, but I could not locate the setting where to set maximum recipients for outgoing email
I'm also searching mdaemon forums, but as i get quick response from WHT...

May 24, 2007We are in the process of setting up an application that on signup gives the customer a subdomain. The document root for this subdomain should be the same as the webroot for the primary domain. As an optional feature the customer can also map their own domain to this subdomain.
I was wondering if there is anyone here who has experience setting this kind of system up and could share some ideas, such as a particular server control panel that might cater for this, or that has an API that we can use within our Code.
As we are starting off we were thinking to go with a VS to keep the costs down. Also, the system is being programmed in PHP so the server would need to be Linux based.

Creating A High Traffic Hosting Setup
Oct 3, 2008creating a setup that will host a site which is expected to receive 50-60K visitors in the first few hours after its launch. The site is membership based and the backend (member system) runs on PHP5-MySQL5.
Here is what I have thought of until now.
Site's sales page (which also happens to be the first page that visitors hit) hosted with Amazon S3 service. All public media files are off loaded to amazon S3 service to keep the number of requests on the hosted setup to minimum.
At the front we can have a high performance firewall like Cisco ASA 5520 followed by two dedicated load balancers in Active/Active state.
Behind the load balancers we have 3 front end servers acting as web-servers. These have SAS disks, 4GB RAM, RAID 1 setup, Dual Xeon Quad core processors each.
Behind the front end servers - we have a dedicated load balancer for the database cluster.
The database cluster consists of 3 Storage/API nodes and one of the front end servers acts as the management node. Each storage node has 8GB RAM, Dual Xeon Quad core processors, 4x RAID 10, SAS setup.
The private network is on a GigaLan.
Do you see any possible/obvious flaw in this design or anything that should be added/subtracted from the setup?
Can't Setup LxAdmin / Kloxo Hosting Package Using WHMCS
Jun 8, 2009LxAdmin recently changed their name to Kloxo, which also introduced some new features.
I've setup a Kloxo cluster, with the main server on 1 server, and all the others (mail, dns, web) on another server - still testing it out.
Then I created a package in Kloxo with some limits and gave it a name. Then, I went into WHMCS, and added the product, and chose LxAdmin from the modules drop-down.
I then proceeded to add the package name in, and told WHMCS to "Get the available choices from the server" and then I get the following error:

DNS Setup - Hosting Website Internally - Email Externally
Jul 1, 2008IIS 7.0 - I host several websites. On one of them, the email is hosted externally and not through my exchange server. I have added an MX record to point to the mail server for this domain, but I still get an error when I attempt to send an email from within my local area network. There are no problems with emails generated outside my network, but for emails generated to this domain from within my network, I get the following error:
The e-mail account does not exist at the organization this message was sent to. Check the e-mail address, or contact the recipient directly to find out the correct address.
<mail.<mydomain>.com #5.1.1>
Incidentally, the <mydomain> value does not match the domain for this email domain.
Instead it is the primary domain that I host.
I know that this must be a DNS issue, but I'm not sure how to correct.
Hosting Setup - Large Amount Of File Storage
Aug 21, 2007on good hosting setups for getting large amounts of disk space.
I would like to be able to offer up to 2Gb storage space for 100s, maybe up to a few 1000 users - any solution should scale well. The files would be static files that might be up to 400Mb in size.
It would be nice to be able to give users FTP access to their disk space, although it's not a core requirement.

Apr 22, 2009I just want to use a server for file sharing, it will have nginx and that's it. I'm looking at centos, or freebsd, but I been using centos forever now and I'm not sure how to use freebsd, should I just stay with centos?
Do I tell my hosting provider to just install the OS and give me ssh action and that's it? Don't install any control panels or any other stuff? I want one domain and one subdomain on it though and ftp action.

I'm currently on a dedicated Linux setup but don't really have the time to set up a whole new box with full virtualization or investigate a full chroot solution (baby on the way), and to be honest it would be less hassle to move to a new provider than worry about down time with sites.
What I'm looking for:

- hosting for 30+ accounts, some with several domains
- at least 6 IP addresses for SSL certs
- each account in a full chroot environment (ssh/sftp/ftp) so they can't poke around each others' files, or each account set up in a virtual machine setup (ie: openvz)

May 15, 2008if I could assist his small company in setting up an FTP server. What they are looking to do is provide a way for people to login and access files. They can either bring down the files that are left for them or they can upload files. Is setting up an FTP server difficult? Is it time consuming? Can you customize it so that certain files can only be seen for specific usernames?

Feb 28, 2008I installed Windows Server 2003 on a spare computer, Pentium 4 2.00GHz 760 MB of Ram. I have been looking allover google on how to setup a DNS server so that I can run my Clothing Companies website from home. Are there any guides that can help me from setting up DNS server to having the website appear online? I have been trying to set up this server for about a week now and still no luck. when I ping 68.109.88.131 it comes back successful and when I enter that in, in a url, the "Under Construction" page comes up.

May 19, 2007We had the server management company setup name servers on the new server but SSH shows different results from the old versus new server. Here is the output:
Old Server:

xx.xx.xxx.xx3=0
xx.xx.xxx.xx4=0
New Server:

They do not seem to match. Can someone provide some instructions as to how we can check within WHM to make sure name servers are setup corretly?
