Internap Price Range
Jan 13, 2008
I am getting my quote back Tuesday but need a little bargaining power with these guys...
Oakland, Ca datacenter
40mbps, 20A, 42U rack.
What should I be looking at price range here, how much per mbps?
Only info I've seen is from 2003 where people were saying $200/mbps. Obviously prices have come WAY down. I've seen people on here reselling internap bandwidth for $12/mbps, but they might have bought a huge commit.

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this question or not .. but, i am going to try.
I would like to get more informations about nLayer.
Is it good internet provider? Can they be compared with Internap for example? ( if it can be asked that way .. )
I need more info regarding stability, connections with Europe from USACDN etc.

I see that FDC is offering $12 per Mbit/sec for InterNAP bandwidth. I'm really interest on this offer. Are there anyone colocating severs at FDC and using their InterNAP bandwidth? if so, could you please give me some reviews and your experience?
How is their support and InterNAP bandwidth?

My colo is charging about $80/Mbit, they use InterNAP. Is that reasonable? This is in west coast/california.
That brings me to my other question, how do you know whats a good network? How is hurricane electric compared to InterNAP?
fixedorbit.com shows HE on the top 10 list and shows a lot of peering. I don't see InterNAP on that list at all! Does that mean thats it not as good?
The more peering, the better? (I guess we assume that the network provider isn't over selling and isn't cramming a lot of customers into a single port etc...)

I am looking for info on Aveas in Seattle. They seem to have gone out of business (domain expired) and hence I also can't send emails to them.
Does anybody have info what happened, where they have gone, and if somebody is still around somewhere? I am looking for Kelly Kline.
I am trying to find out if one of our old company servers is still with them (was in their cabinet), and if a backup could be retrieved for a fee.

We are in the process of starting a new project for a client and we are trying to decide which network to place it on.
We have a choice of a Level3/Time Warner mix or pure Internap. Obviously the Internap bandwidth is a bit more expensive, but since this customers website serves an international community we are thinking that Internap bandwidth would be well worth the cost.
What are the advantages of using Internap? How is the network performance? We've setup a machine on the Internap network and have begun running tests, but I would like to hear from people who have direct experience with Internap bandwidth.

After running 6 or so dedicated servers purchased thru several different resellers, my company decided to get a rack at the Chicago InterNap DC.
The quote we got was $3,400 per month inclusive of cabinet, Usage based 10/100, and Cross connects.
Have a couple questions.
A) Is that price in the ballpark of where it should be?
and
B) Our quote states Usage based 100mb Ethernet (10MBps Min). Tier2 at $150 month and $1,400 for the 10.00 Mbps Base. Being new to this, I have no idea exactly how much bandwidth we can use before the "usage" fees kick in.
How does this work?

As we are finishing our migration plans to Cisco OER. I would like to get everyone's thoughts on the low latency "brand name" internap bandwidth.
Do you think that the high priced brandname is going to continue with Cisco finally releasing OER to what a large number of datacenters use as their primary core switch? In my eyes the FCP and the Avaya/RouteScience platform just lost a lot of value. The OER product looks very complete and in testing works excellent, the final verdict will be in what the platform actually does.
If you are wondering Cisco OER information can be found here [url]

Who are the people/companies with a good reputation with the WHT community who provide Internap or Peer1 colo? And it seems it's mostly in LA or NY, I know both Peer1 and Internap have a presence in other places, is there anyone reselling out of anywhere else?
Pure Internap or Pure Peer1 hosts only please. The only one I know of right now is H4Y.us

I'm in the final stages of bidding on a 10-rack cage, it's come between Internap and Switch & Data.
I know the good about hosting with both of them. Who can tell me the bad?
Please, don't email me telling me about your datacenter, because I'm not looking at any other providers this late in the game.

I have been reading quite a bit lately about the Internap FCP. I am wondering how much it actually improves network performance and how it compares to BGP4. We currently use BGP4, but are considering using a data center with the Internap FCP for a project for a client.
I am looking for reviews from others who have experience with the Internap FCP and it's performance. How does it compare to a network using BGP4? I know that FCP uses more intelligent routing than BGP, but how big of an improvement does it make?

if this is a good deal on internap colo?
Full-Cabinet - $700/mo.
Bandwidth - $ 60/mbps/mo.
Power 20A - $300/mo.
Redundant Power- $175/mo.
Setup Fee -$1000
I see other providers include the power in the cabinet charge. Is it unusual? Do I need the Redundant power if I install a UPC unit?

Let's say when i first joined the datacenter, i'm given some 16 IPs from 123.123.123.*.
Now that i need more IPs, and they have to give me IPs from 123.123.124.*, am i right to say i need a new switch?
Now is it possible that i link up the new switch together, so that both switch can pick up any available IPs from either range?

I set up a forum for a small group of users, so I don't really wish to see spiders or bots on it, so I've put a robots.txt file there to prevent all of them from accessing the forum pages.
I know not all bots follow the robots.txt rule, and these days a really annoying bot called MUNAXNET or Munax AB with IP range 82.99.30.0 - 82.99.30.127 is causing the forum to have extra and unexpected loads.
I've tried to block this IP range with .htaccess and uploaded it to the root of the site a few days ago, here is the content:
<Limit GET HEAD POST>
order allow,deny
deny from 82.99.30.0-82.99.30.127
allow from all
</LIMIT>
However strangely it seems that all of these are not working for this bot, today I saw my forum had 80 users online and that army still keeps coming and browsing all pages of my forums...
I tested the .htaccess with blocking myself, and it actually worked for me, dunno why it's not working for that bot..

Server: OS RHEL 4
Web Server: Apache1.3.37
Hi. I want to block a range of IPs. Currently, I use the following command as an effective weapon against the IPs of people I find in the log trying to do bad things.
/sbin/route add -host x.x.x.x reject
Works like a charm. I then put the offending IP in the file /etc/rc.d/rc.local so that it will reload the bad ips when the server reboots next.
I also use the CSF/LFD firewall, and it successfully blocks single, offensive IPs also.
What I need, though, is the ability to block an entire range of IPs. For example, i have a very persistent hacker trying to access from a certain range like so....
255.155.x.x.
The last two numbers are always changing but the first two remain the same.
How do I block this "range" of IPs from accessing my server?
Note, I know how to block a range of IPs in a .htaccess file for a certain account, I put this in the .htaccess file...
deny from 205.196.
But when I try this with /sbin/route, it will not accept the ip. My firewall will also not accept a range of IPs.

We have check, there aren't problem with port and firewall
All seesm ok, for all server
We have try to restart exim, reboot, ..
Emails don't start from 3 server LW to 1 in Italy
We have try to ping from server LW the Italian server and the problem is the same, found IP but 100% packet lost..
If we ping from 3 server LW a IP of server that is "over" the server IT is all ok
The problem seems only with single IP
So, we have try to send from server in Italy to 1 of 3 server under LW.. same problem
