i reinstalled my vps that is virtuozzo
how may i install os(centos)?
I have a virtuozzo vps account 64-bit centos running whm/cpanel.
I've been having an issue with high load average at times while very little cpu is being used and there is plenty of ram free, and in looking into this, I've run into another thing that seems very odd to me:
free
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 786432 179944 606488 0 0 0
-/+ buffers/cache: 179944 606488
top - 22:29:52 up 15:30, 1 user, load average: 1.23, 1.55, 1.12
Tasks: 74 total, 1 running, 72 sleeping, 0 stopped, 1 zombie
Cpu(s): 0.0%us, 0.1%sy, 0.0%ni, 88.8%id, 11.0%wa, 0.0%hi, 0.0%si, 0.0%st
Mem: 786432k total, 174784k used, 611648k free, 0k buffers
Swap: 0k total, 0k used, 0k free, 0k cached
uname -r
2.6.18-028stab060.8
No memory being used for buffers or cache.
why no ram is being used to buffer/cache slower disk io?
I found this tutorial on how to install yum. The only issue is, we have CentOS 5. Is there a more recent article with the latest files needed to install yum on CentOS5 / Plesk VPS?
[url]
I'm getting an error (shown in screenshot) and yum install lockfile does not return anything but 'nothing found'
I went ahead with the install and doing a "skip" on this lockfile dependency warning in the meantime.
Also, the Virtuozzo PIM interface / Parallels Infrastructure Manager is not loading at nodeip:4643
I did not do anything on this server but install Centos 5 64bit and Virtuozzo. I did not install any firewall nor modify IPtables, etc. I did not create a service container or such.
Parallel's PDF documentation is incomplete.
parallels.com/download/virtuozzo4/lin/
Installation guide:
download.swsoft.com/virtuozzo/virtuozzo4.0/docs/en/lin/VzLinuxInstallation.pdf
Nowhere does it tell you the *dependency requirements* or how to get PIM web gui activated properly. It does not explain how to create the *service* container either.
Not even here:
parallels.com/download/virtuozzo4/notes/
or here kb.parallels.com/en/1089 .......
I think it sad on one hand..many hosts complain about users crashing/causing problems for other users on the node they are on..yet..this topic has never been covered to my knowledge.
I can fix that.
OK..the most important thing is to *NOT* try and install windows updates from Microsoft. I have heard of it crashing the entire node. Do not run Windows update either. These updates come from sw-soft and will be installed by your host. nothing for you to do here.
OK...here's the list so far of what else not to install:
1) Hard drive encryption software
2) True RRAS VPN access software
3) Antivirus software
4) Virtual NIC software
5) Virtual Drive software
By all means..if you have any additions to this list..
I want to install CentOS 5 on my VPS and my current template's don't have it. How do i do this? Or better still, if you have a template pre-made,
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have installed Xen on my CentOS ded box, and now I'm trying to install a Guest OS, also CentOS using the following command:
Code:
virt-install -p --prompt -n CentOS2 -r 512 --file=/vm/centos.img --file-size=15 -l [url]
Now everything starts, I come to the network screen (right after the language selection), leave everything on default, it says it is trying to configure the network with DHCP for eth0 and then hangs there for a moment a does nothing.
How do I continue, how do I configure the network correcly.
I am just starting to learn Xen and would appreciate all the input I get.

i have a 32bit centos running with 8 gigs, but only 7 is registering when i contacted support they told me
Your server does in fact have 8GB of physical memory however the reason it is not being recognized is due to the fact that you are using a 32 bit operating system. By default, the 8GB would be recognized if it were a 64 bit OS however on a 32 bit operating system, you must install and boot into the PAE kernel (physical address extension) for the 8GB to be recognized and utilized. The PAE kernel can be installed through yum when connected to your server as root over SSH. Once you have installed the kernel, you will need to reboot the server for these changes to take effect
i tried
yum pae install
yum pae kernel install
both didnt work can anyone give me a quick step by step guide on how to go about this.
I try more time noting

how can install java because i need to it
I finally got my hands on a test server and am playing with Centos.
I got it installed but am not sure where to go from here in regards to getting it setup for web server use.
Is there any documentation on what to install for web server use? Is there a cheat sheet out there I can follow?
Been fooling around with red5 too long now. I really need this app to work so I can use the audio/video option on my chat.
I'm willing to pay the person who can make red5 work on my linux centos server. I allready installed ant & red5, the java is just a bit to tricky for me.
Like I said, I'm willing to pay a fee for the person who can make the red5 work.

Anyone know what needs to be done on CentOs, to be able to do it?
I have done the only instruction on Centos about it:
