What configurations are needed on a whm/cpanel vps hosting account in order to be used as a mail server for a domain being hosted on another server? The domain's mx entry have already been altered to point to the target mail server.
I'm on a VPS and every day I get the following message if I loginto WHM:
The server was unable to lookup an an A entry for its hostname (vps.glse.net). This is generally because the entry was never added. However this could also be the result of your nameserver(s) being down. If you would like to attempt to automatically add the entry
After that I add the A entry, and setup the Resolver and restart BIND, after that it is usually working again until I have to do it again the next day.
The hostname (vps.xxxx.net) resolves to . It should resolve to 72.18.xxx.xxx. Please be sure to correct /etc/hosts as well as the 'A' entry in zone file for the domain.
Some are all of these problems can be caused by /etc/resolv.conf being setup incorrectly. Please check this file if you believe everything else is correct.
I am currently running a VPS in the Colo4Dallas datacenter. A couple users of regional Japanese sites report sluggish loading from Japan.
I am contemplating a couple possible solutions to this problem:
Move the VPS to a facility near 1 Willshire in Los Angeles. I think that one issue might be the risk of earthquakes.
Set up a separate small VPS in a facility near 1 Willshire in Los Angeles. Other than the issue above, I wonder if I am not overdoing it by setting up a second VPS.
Set up a separate small VPS with Clara Japan. They run an English service brand Usonyx.
As above, I am wondering if I am truly doing myself a favor running a separate VPS, though the benefit would be the local proximity.
Am I missing something? What are your experiences? How have you solved similar issues?
I have two similar VPS plans with identical software setups. I installed APF Firewall on VPS A, modified the conf.apf file to change the interfaces to venet0 and set monokern to 1 and then opened all the ingress ports required. Started the firewall with 'service apf start' and everything went fine, and everything is working fine with no errors.
I did the same on VPS B but when I start apf I get the following error that reoccurs during the startup sequence:
iptables: No chain/target/match by that name
While the firewall does seem to be running (by checking iptables -L) I am unable to download files on the VPS, via wget or yum ...
I have following Warning when creating a new Domain inside a Subscriptions:
I found this Article: [URL] .....
But in my case this does not solve the Problem.
1> All permissions are right. 2> When I type command '/usr/local/psa/bin/repair --restore-vhosts-permissions' i get the answer 'Directory permissions were successfully updated.' 3> The Order of Webuser and FTPUser (as described in the article) could also not be the problem, because in my case there is only one user (There is only Webuser and no FTP-User.) 4> When typing '/usr/local/psa/bin/repair --update-vhosts-structure' I get the following error 6 times each:
Unable to update the structure of the home directory: an unexpected error has occurred. update-vhosts-structure failed: mkdir: cannot create directory `./webroot.kk-bits.com/logs': File exists ERROR: Cannot relink logs. Target directory '/var/www/vhosts/webroot.kk-bits.com/logs' is in invalid state.
To get the error 6 times seems to mean, that i have this problem with 6 Domain.
I don't know why I typed SMTP in the title. I meant just the mail server. I just posted a message saying that my VPS is down due to FDCServers being down as they supply my host.
I can live with a 24 hr blackout on my site (however definitely not happy about it).
What I can't live with is having my mail.mydomain.com server being down at all. I run my VPS and host a few sites from it including a few clients. I need to make sure that my email doesn't go down when my VPS goes down.
How can I go about this? If I purchase a second VPS plan can I have that run just my email server for me? If so, how much in resources do I need? Will a cheap plan do the trick (ie. 64mb Ram or something)?
my current dedi server and want to configure shoutcast for the server. I have install the shoutcast located in /usr/local/shoutcast.
Just curious one of my customer would like to use the shoutcast so how can i create a user for them? should i install manually for each of my customer that want to host shoutcast?
I got dedicated server with Windows Server 2k3 OS and have not configured it yet. I've installed Serv-U and Apache 2 (PHP, MySQL will be the next step). But I can't open my Website from home (from server there is no problems). And I can't get into my FTP server either. I scanned ports from home to figure that out. 21 for FTP is seen. 80 http is not seen. However on the server I did "netstat -an" and it showed the port 80 listening. So why can't I reach my FTP server and open my site? Is the problem in Windows Server 2k3 configuration?
spec are: Intel . 2,4 GHz 80 GB of HDD disk 1GB MB of RAM Traffic-Unlimited 100Mbit Switch Port Windows web os
from hosting-ie yes i know the bad reviews but i got my server in 2days
now i saw a good deal that for 12 euros extra get 2 * 100mbit so i upgraded to a 2 * 100mbit connection as the server would be used to let members from my forum download music / music videos [remixed] made by me and my other producer so 200mbit server will do nicely for my site
now when i got it it shows me two network connections each saying 100mbit
but only one of the connections is being used and the other is not in use
is there a way that i can use both at the same time or maybe use one for http/ftp and one just for ther server itslef
