How to configure SMTP on different server?
I don't know why I typed SMTP in the title. I meant just the mail server.
I just posted a message saying that my VPS is down due to FDCServers being down as they supply my host.
I can live with a 24 hr blackout on my site (however definitely not happy about it).
What I can't live with is having my mail.mydomain.com server being down at all. I run my VPS and host a few sites from it including a few clients. I need to make sure that my email doesn't go down when my VPS goes down.
How can I go about this? If I purchase a second VPS plan can I have that run just my email server for me? If so, how much in resources do I need? Will a cheap plan do the trick (ie. 64mb Ram or something)?

Plesk Panel, 11.0.9, #61, Windows 2008 R2 SP1, x64
PROBLEM:
With reports configured to send out to an email address local on the Windows server configured through PLESK, if local relay isn't enabled at 127.0.0.1 on the SmarterMail server, the reports are never delivered.
- server is [domainx].com
- email to receive reports from PLESK is plesk444@[domainx].com
-this email address is able to send and receive internally or externally to and from any client w/ SMTP auth enabled.
If SmarterMail is configured with SMTP Authentication Bypass for 127.0.0.1, we get the scheduled report emails as we should. Without the SMTP Authentication Bypass enabled, none of the clients or administrators get any reports or notifications at all.
QUESTION: How can I configure PLESK Panel 11 itself to use that SMTP Authentication to send those reports out?
--is there a configuration file or registry value I can add or modify?

I have 2 domains as follows:
Domain1 on Server 1 = www.domain1.com
Domain2 on Server 2 = www.domain2.com (has a forum)
How can I configure subdomain.domain1.com, but to be on Server 2?
The idea of this exercise is to feel the visitors when they browse the forum that they are on same website/server.

I got dedicated server with Windows Server 2k3 OS and have not configured it yet. I've installed Serv-U and Apache 2 (PHP, MySQL will be the next step). But I can't open my Website from home (from server there is no problems). And I can't get into my FTP server either. I scanned ports from home to figure that out. 21 for FTP is seen. 80 http is not seen. However on the server I did "netstat -an" and it showed the port 80 listening. So why can't I reach my FTP server and open my site? Is the problem in Windows Server 2k3 configuration?

i got a new server
spec are:
Intel . 2,4 GHz
80 GB of HDD disk
1GB MB of RAM
Traffic-Unlimited
100Mbit Switch Port
Windows web os
from hosting-ie yes i know the bad reviews but i got my server in 2days
now i saw a good deal that for 12 euros extra get 2 * 100mbit
so i upgraded to a 2 * 100mbit connection as the server would be
used to let members from my forum download music / music videos [remixed] made by me and my other producer so 200mbit server will do nicely for my site
now when i got it it shows me two network connections each saying 100mbit
but only one of the connections is being used and the other is not in use
is there a way that i can use both at the same time or maybe use one for http/ftp and one just for ther server itslef

I have an unmanaged Windows VPS and I want to host multiple sites (with different domains).
I was told that I should create my own private nameservers in order to do so.
I have allready installed DNS Server in the VPS but I cannot find a tutorial to help me configure the private nameservers.
The OS is Windows Server 2003. Please provide any good tutorials if you know.

I am setup in a co-location facility. I just recieved my new SonicWall TZ180 which I am trying to setup.
Previously I had my server connected to the internet drop via a static ip address assigned via windows tcp/ip (1.1.1.2), nothing special there. Then I used Plesk and assign domains and ip addresses as normal.
My co-location facility gives me 4 static ip addresses, lets call them:
1.1.1.2
1.1.1.3
1.1.1.4
1.1.1.5
And an ip address called Network Gateway at:
1.1.1.1
And DNS ips at:
2.2.2.2
2.2.2.3
I am trying to figure out how I make this work now with the SonicWall. I am using Plesk, and I have already assigned all DNS settings and name servers to their proper static IP address, such as:
ns.mydomain.com -> 1.1.1.2
ns.myseconddomain.com -> 1.1.1.3
So I cannot use the local ip address (192.168.168.2) assigned to the server box by default by SonicWall using DHCP. I must use the actual static ip addresses assigned to me and already configured in Plesk. I have heard I need to use NAT, and assign the SonicWall the ip address of the network gateway: 1.1.1.1, then add the 4 standard static ip addresses into a pool in the sonic wall.

I am trying to abolish FTP from my VPS, but refuse to allow SFTP with SSH access (and even give the secret port # out for SSH). It seems RSSH fits the bill, but I need to install it on a cPanel server. I want to know the following:How do I install RSSH on a server running cPanel

I have a class project that we are working on where we have to configure and implement an Apache server with ssl using ldap for authentication. I have documentation of literally everything I have done in the configuration. Everything seems to be fine with the config that I can tell. The client gets a prompt for username and password when they access the server ip address. However, once the correct username and password are entered, then the client receives a 500 internal server error message instead of the webpage: "Internal Server Error...The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

I'm trying to configure a host to use vhosts but the server keeps breaking when I uncomment the Include vhosts file line. The apache process starts but none of the hostnames work. When the line is commented out, only the main hostname (defined in httpd.conf) works.

I'm getting this error ....

Please resolve the errors in web server configuration templates and generate the file again.
<username> once was a user existing on the server. But I removed the user some days ago.
Since this morning I cannot reconfigure my web server. This always stops with the error message from above.
Unfortunately there is no clue, where the error could be located. The Abstract.php is crypted, so I am not able to check the where the problem is...

I have just moved away from Kloxo Hosting, and I am a bit confused as to how I go about setting Client domains to use the (Already Registered) Nameserver Records I have created on the server.
You see, when I create a customer, the template adds the domain with it's own nameservers, ex: (ns.customerdomain.com -> 0.0.0.0) I don't want this to be the case.
What I would like to achieve, is for all my client's to have their NS records pointing at the NS records I already have registered on the server.
The reason for this is, when I submit the registration document to my local registrar, I have to specify the nameserver address for the domain, however, I only have 2 IP's on the server. I cannot glue every customer's domain FQDN to an IP.

I'm trying to do is to enable the PHP mail function to send email to other domain. I believe that the SMTP configuration in php.ini is pointed to a right mail server.
Currently, the mail function is working probably if the email is sent to a local domain.
However if I point the PHP mail function to send to foreign domain, it doesn't go through.
For example:
localdomain.com --> localdomain.com = Sent
localdomain.com --> foreigndomain.com = Not Sent
How to make the PHP mail function able to send to foreign domain instead of local domain only?

I'm setting up an invite and request email notification system for my website. Its pretty process heavy (since all the invites and requests will need to be sent right away), so I'm planning to setup another machine that is only designed to send the emails.
So I guess a SMTP server right?
I have no problems installing PHP and linking the user generated emails, but how does this work in regards to the domain name?
When the user imports his or her contacts on the main server (domainname.com) which then triggers the invite emails to be sent out with the SMTP server then how does that effect the clients' inboxes?
Since the website that they've registered to is www.domainname.com and the SMTP server domain name is smtp.domainname.com?
How does this all work?
What I worried about is the inbox seeing the emails as apart of a different domain name and then tossing it all to the junk box.

Do SMTP servers by default use port 25 for receiving mail from another SMTP server? Are there any other receiving ports an SMTP server would be listening on by default?
My question is, a server I will be setting up is going to be behind a firewall that blocks outgoing connections *to* port 25. Is there going to be any way around this that is workable besides opening the port?

As some of you might already know, many ISP's have been blocking outbound traffic via port 25 to try to lower the amount of spam sent from thier clients.
I am looking for a free smtp server for windows. (This is just for me to use, personal) I would rather run it on my windows server than my linux. I have tried over 7 free ones already including "Free SMTP Server" and after time they have all failed/not worked well/gave errors/and whatnot. Could anyone recommend me a simple smtp server I could run on my windows dedi that also has the function/option to change the incoming/outgoing port from 25 to another #?
