Getting 403 Forbidden Error When I Define Virtualhost
May 21, 2008I have apache set up and it works fine from the DocumentRoot when I access the server via the IP. I've set up the following virtualhost

Sep 19, 2006I got my all accounts backup from the reseller panel I had earlier and then restored them on dedicated server using multiple account restore feature of WHM. but the problem is , when I try to open those transfered websites , they show :

You don't have permission to access /forums on this server.

1- files' permission are right.
2- this error appear mainly with users whose from "Arab Gulf area" whose access Internet via proxy. May be this is reason?
Moved To New VPS - 403 Forbidden Error
Sep 21, 2008I recently moved my website from a shared hosting plan at Siteground to a VPS at WiredTree. All went well but I have this problem : When I try to access my website I can't. I get :
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access / on this server.
Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
This happens only for my home computer. If I try to access the website from anywhere else (even via my mobile phone) it works like a charm.
I am thinking this might be a DNS cache problem. Anyone can help me better understand the problem and solve it?
Intermittent Forbidden Error Message
May 9, 2008my vBulletin forum members start complaing about an intermittent forbidden error message:

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request
i did tail -f /usr/local/apache/logs/error_log and find lot of lines like this:
[Fri May 9 17:13:33 2008] [crit] [client 217.69.189.2] (24)Too many open files: /.htaccess pcfg_openfile: unable to check htaccess file, ensure it is readable
i also found the vb folder and all folders inside it have permession of 775 and all files have permession of 664
Forbidden 403 Error Godaddy Hosted Account
Jan 26, 2009I recently uploaded files to my hosting company and when I try to access site through browser I recieve 403 Forbidden error you dont have permission to access / on this server. They say it or the problem lies in the index.html file in which I know very little about. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Random 403 Forbidden Error (after Activating Keep Alive?)

I have the same error with randomly Forbidden error. The most time I see it is on 2 websites that are build with Gallery 2 and very rarely on other website, on my end never happent on other websites but some people told me it did.
Bellow is a small part of cPanel's "Last 300 visits" it shows every request so you can see first request was a direct link , I have wrote the galery name .. and the others are aither requests to images either other files ....
Plesk 12.x / Linux :: Error 403 Forbidden On All Sites After Migration
Dec 17, 2014We have installed Plesk 12 on a fresh up to date Ubuntu 14.04 x64 server.
After installation, and before any migration, we have moved some folders:
- /var/www/vhosts -> /opt/vhosts
- /var/qmail -> /opt/qmail
- /var/mysql -> /opt/mysql
We have created symlinks, modified some configuration files (Plesk included) and ran domains reconfiguration script (zero domain installed, but just in case the script will do anything else).
After that, we have launched Plesk Migration Wizard (from Plesk 9 to last release).
Everything has worked fine: all domains have been migrated on our new folders (/opt based) and owners has been correctly defined for each domain. The same for MySQL and all mail accounts.
We have checked Apache VirtualHost configured by Plesk Migration Wizard : our new folders are used (/opt).
So all seems to be ok.
But now, all websites (configured with Apache and Apache PHP module) returns 403 Forbidden error.
We have try changing to FastCGI with Apache same error.
We have try changing to full Nginx (PHP and static files), some websites run.
We have checked some KB (112884, 800) but all seems to be good.
Is there any steps we have omitted when we move folders ?

Define Unlimited
May 27, 2009what do you consider unlimited? Is unlimited simply a marketing term? I've seen a few host go from offer 1000mb to just listing it as unlimited.
I could understand that after some time a person may become confused once they start using too many resources but was the "unlimited" just a trend other hosting companies have followed? or do you congregate somewhere and decided, hey we should do unlimited, lol.
I'm curious because I see these "unlimited" plans a lot, as a consumer I'm really starting to focus more on plans that do listed in numbers what you get as appose to just seeing the word unlimited.

Virtualhost
Jan 10, 2007Virtualhosts have got me stuck, I was wondering if someone could help me out.
It seems as though no matter what I try, even though I've read over 3 tutorials I can't get virtualhosts working properly.
Basically I have the
documentroot set to /var/www/html/
I'd like to create a virtualhost (I guess name based?) which has a document root of
/var/www/userdata/
Something like this is what I'm trying to accomplish:

2. The only way that I could get the websites to work with www and without www was to add two virtualhosts for each site. Is there a way around this?
Virtualhost On FTP
Nov 10, 2007I'm trying to configure my ftp server (lateste proftpd) and I am stucked on virtualhosts.
I'd like to have two different domains have each their own anonymous access, but I only have one IP on my server.
As you might know, ftp does not handle the HOST field in its header as the HTTP protocol does... so I just can't seem to get it work out... I tried adding an alias IP to my main interface, it works great of course but only when I connect from my server to my server...

So I created two virtualhost files site1 and site2.
Site 1 configuration file:

Obviously I a2ensite both sites and reload Apache2.
When I digit lemonsite.mydomain.com on address bar of firefox, it returns Address not found.
When I digit MYIP/lemonsite, I get a 404 not found error generated by www.mydomain.com CMS.
When I digit MYIP on bar I get www.mydomain.com.
I would like to see lemonsite.

The issue is: I have an existing login URL path that has changed slightly. As an example, let's say the old URL is:

Apache :: Wordpress Redirect Breaks Virtualhost
Feb 9, 2014Running Apache 2.2.22 on Ubuntu 12.04...Here's (in addition to default) my papertower config in sites-available: URL....
When I restart, I get this message: [URL] ....
I'm coming from Apache on Windows and trying to set up the same workflow I had there. Basically, if I placed a folder in /www/papertower/ it would become accessible via directoryname.papertower.dev after adding the host.
I'm having a strange issue getting it going again. Oddly, when I didn't have the wordpress config set up properly and went to site.papertower.dev, it would give me the "failed to connect to database" message. This made me happy, as it meant it was pointing at the right folder. Once I fixed the database config file, however, and go to site.papertower.dev, it thinks for a moment, then goes to www.site.papertower.dev and gives me a "Oops! Google Chrome could not find www.site.papertower.dev".
I double-checked that all the appropriate mods were enabled (especially rewrite), but that hasn't made a difference.
