its seems thats the problem keep didn't fix it when i try to install the textimage plugin for the wordpress ......
PHP Code:
You don't seem to have the PHP gd module installed. This is required in order to use the TextImage plugin. For example, in CentOS 4 the command 'yum install php-gd' will install the necessary components.
so here the result ....

and the plug did not work yet with that message !!

I have decided to finally remove all my servers rented from provider to provider to one single place.
I want to manage everything, so basically route the traffic (at this time without BGP or OSPF), my current average of traffic for all servers together would be about 15 Mbit/s with top at 35-45 Mbit/s.
I want to buy a cheap router (no computer router), I'd like to buy a chassis with very extensible and upgradable router, so I can start with a basic card and later use BGP (and maybe OSPF) and have ability to push from 30 Mbit/s (to over 1000 Mbit/s by upgrading cards and memory).
So, which (refurbished or not) chassis can I buy ? Which card would you setup with it ?
The important is really the ability to start with low cost configuration and go up to very high rates without having to change all (of course once I will be average over...).
I have 2 dedicated servers to host several websites at this moment. Each server hosts several website, include both files and database (Apache, PHP, Mysql). And I think that this is not a good model.
I intend to re-organize my servers to have one server for web applications (Apache and PHP) and one server for databases (Mysql). In this case, the servers could be better optimized.
trying to understand the colocation business model (for webhosting).
Am I right in assuming that following business model:
1. Rent a portion (or full) rack from datacenter, e.g. calpop.com 2. Buy servers and get them shipped to datacenter 3. For unmanaged servers, typically most support will be limited to reboots, reinstall of OS/control panel, and server hardware issues - correct? 4. Provide basic support, or sign-up with companies like bobcare.com to provide support to clients who order server
One-time cost (for 1-3 years): Cost of dedicated server hardware Ongoing monthly costs: rack rental + outsourced support (optional)
...plus marketing costs....
Please let me know if I missed something or overlooked details...
I used so far Nortel switches like Nortel 4550T-PWR, recently few of them died and since they have only 1 year of warranty i'm looking into other options.
To Nortel is this Cisco comparable model Catalyst 3750 (p/n: WS-C3750-48TS-S) or this Catalyst 3560 48 10/100 + 4 SFP IPB Image(p/n: WS-C3560-48TS-S) ? If is some other model please let me know, and i got around 20 nortel switches 2xxx, 4xxx and 5xxx series and at at least once a year one dies is that normal? They are properly installed in server rooms so there is no overheat issue.
And how much warranty Cisco gives on their switches which are comparable to 4xxx and 5xxx series of Nortel.
if anyone knows of any shared hosting company that supports the out-of-the-box Model-View-Controller (MVC) asp.net template and which version (the latest at the moment is Preview 5).
Moreover, does it support .net 3.5 with sp1, IIS7, SQL 2005 and ajax control tookit?
I'm running a fresh install of Plesk 12 on Ubuntu. I've used the migration manager to import domains and accounts from another (older) installation. Everything worked well.
After the process, Plesk suggested the "Complete Switching to the new Plesk business model". After switching, half of the Domains didn't show up anymore (not in Subscribtions, nor in a Customer Account) and the Domains page was completely blank. But if I check the page "Traffic Usage By Domains", the Domains still show up and they are still in the vhosts folder and they are still accessible.
So I guess the Domains are still in the database, they just lost the connection to a subscription or customer. How can I restore this connection?
I've asked sales a few times but they don't seem to know...what counts as a "website?" In PPA as a test we set up two subscriptions and one mail-only secondary domain on one of them. The Services/Websites tab lists all three, but only two are marked as Website under Hosting Type while the third is marked No Hosting. Does that count as two websites for license purposes, or three?
I'm trying to plan for multiple domains, subdomains, etc.
Recently I've tested the usage of domain keys on my plesk 12 server. The feature works without problems. I'm wondering however if it's possible to activate the domain keys by a service plan or subscription model. If not, for all my domains (65) I've to activate them manually and for each domain iIll create in the future I have to activate it too.
I've made a how to, based on my personal knowledge about upgrading a CentOS 3, RedHat 9, or 8?, Fedora Core, and maybe others, to the new CentOS 4.5 OS. (or CentOS 4.x)

Please post, comments, questions, etc. here. I've myself upgraded many servers this way, (even, tonight, I upgraded another, so I finally decided to do this with all my notes)
linux and after several days testing different distributions and a bunch of different ways (e.g. freenx, vnc XFCE ...) I've decided to setup a vnc-server on CentOS-5-i386-minimal and use KDE as a desktop environment.
After reloading my vps with centos-5-i386-minimal, I logged in as root and executed:
Code:
yum update
yum -y groupinstall "KDE (K Desktop Environment)"
yum -y install vnc vnc-server firefox X11 xorg
I then added a user "abt" and set the password. Then I logged in as abt and execute : vncserver, it asked for the password and created the appropriate .vnc directory and files.
I then edited xstartup file and replaced "twm &" with "startkde &" and executed vncserver once again, this created desktop number 2 for me.
The problem is that after running TightVNC(on vista) and entering IPNUMBER:2, It successfully connects to vnc-server but what i get is a black screen with X cursor!
i have a colo server, lately im having problem, every 2-3 oclock in the morning my server crash, i asked the server management to have a look at it but no luck, they install rpm, reduce the http max, etc, etc ( i dont want to mention the name since my server management have helped me alot and its not fair for them if i speak a bad thing about them ) anyway,
I bought the server from siliconmechanics iServ R254

I have dedicated works on Centos 4. Now I have to reinstall OS. Administrators recommend me to put again Centos 4 and I would like to install Centos 5. Would like to hear opinion of professionals what it is better to put?
I've just leased my first dedicated server from managemybox, which has come loaded with centos 4.5.
I need to install all the ffmpeg/transcoding junk - something I've done before...
...but now, I'm having huge issues. Yum and up2date don't seem to have *any* idea of where anything, from ffmpeg to flvtool2 is.
I'm crap at quite a bit (read most) of the command line stuff. Whadddoo I need to do? Why is yum telling me there are no matches for the damn stuff?
How can I get from A to B properly without the hassle?
I did have a VPS before, with memset.com - and all this stuff installed fine on Fedora 4 (it was a VMWare based VPS so everything worked, unlike the Xen based ones I've experienced).

and when i connect using vnc viewer, i get this grey background and a box on the top left. has it been installed correctly? any other steps needed?
Here is the screenshot of the background i see when connecting. [url]
I would like to get a second opinion on this. I was going to put CentOS 64 bit on my server but I have been told to put the 32 bit version on it instead because it is a more stable version. I have never heard this before and am new to doing colo and would like to verify this before I end up doing something I may forget?
I've recently started using apt on centos, using the tutorial I found on dag's site. So far I'm enjoying it, since I have years and years of experience running debian unstable.
Are there any caveats? Has anyone here tried doing a dist-upgrade to a new version (say CentOS 5)?
Why does CentOS come w/ such an outdated PHP package? IS it modified to fix the bugs, but the version number stayed the same?
I would like to upgrade to PHP 4.4.6 - are there any issues I should be aware of? This is my 1st Linux box and installing software is not something I am really comfortable with yet.
I have got a KVM swith to connect centos and windows2003 server, windows loading fine, but when I change it to linux os, it says out of range. How can I fix it?
