I am running a Fedora Core 4 VPS with Apache 2.0.53 I think.
I would really like to install/enable WebDAV so that I can mount some of the server storage as a drive on my computer for easy file manipulation from desktop, laptop, gf's house, etc. without having to carry the files around with me all the time.
I tried installing webdav on my VPS, but I'm having problems. I added the module as a DSO. I'm able to connect to it fine (in multiple client (dreamweaver, cadaver)), however, when I try to upload, I'm not able to. Apache has permissions for that directory and for the lock file. However, I get a 403 Permission Denied error.
I am having trouble setting up webdav on IIS6. I wasted all day on this today.
So far I have set it up to work over the internet with anonymous access.
Now I want to turn on:
1) basic authentication
2) SSL
I try to turn on (1) but:
- when try to access over the internet, it prompts for my login but it doesn't accept the login and keeps reprompting me.
- when I try to access from the local server, it seems to accept the login but gives an error 'the folder you entered does not appear to be valid, please choose another'
I have created a new user who has permission to access both the directory on the server and the virtual directory in IIS. I have turned on the webdav extension. I have tried reinstalling IIS too.
I am working with an Apple Lion Server. I want to give users the possibility to gain access to certain share points with the webbrowser via the WebDAV protocol. The OS allows to define sharepoints with the GUI. In this GUI you can adjust, that the users are allowed to access the sharepoints via WebDAV but it is not possible to access the folders via a browser. You just get an error from the webserver after a login:
You don't have permission to access /webdav/ on this server.
So I have looked for the relevant configuration file "httpd_webdavsharing.conf" (apache v2.2)
Code:
# # Apache Config for WebDAV Sharing # Activated and deactivated by com.apple.webapp.webdavsharing webapp #
RegisterResource "WebDAV Sharing: %c %s" /webdav main webdav RewriteEngine On RewriteMap webdavmap prg:/usr/libexec/webdavsharing/webdavsharing_mapper
[Code] .....
Is there a way to modify the code in such a way that it allows the favoured access?
I want to grant different access rights for certain folders to a large group of users of my apache WebDav server. There are access control lists for each folder on the server. Based on the rights in the access control lists the users should only have access to the folders listed in the ACL lists. In addition to that some users have only "read", some also "write" rights for the folders. How can I set up the described access rights on my WebDav server?
My client wants to send SMS from his new website that we are making. How can I enable this feature ...? What's the easiest way?
(The reason I'm posting this question in this forum is that I'm just guessing that this has something to do with web hosting. But, admin, if I'm wrong about this, please move this to a different forum.)
I read that Clickatell is a good service to use to provide this service on our website. Did anyone here use this service before? If so, what did you think about it? Is it easy to set up?

Both IE7 and FF are configured to use javascript, but no sites seem to recognize the fact and report that it's been blocked or off. How do I enabled this?
I have a dedicated server. It is a Fedora Core 6. It came with "Plesk 30 domain license". However, this license of Plesk doesn't have SpamAssassin enabled. In order to get the license with SpamAssassin, it costs an extra $30 a month.
I believe SpamAssassin by default is in fact installed on the sever, but some of my users are reporting that they are getting Spam. How can I check is SpamAssassin is running? How do I configure SpamAssassin to filter spam on all the e-mail addresses that are created in Plesk?
But my basic PHP has shell_exec disabled in php.ini and when trying to run script that use shell_exec even from root I get error that function is disabled.
Do you have any suggestion how can I overcome this and have ability to use this function when executing php script from console?
I noticed on my new servers users doesnt have crontab permission. On my first server they have access. So what i need to do to enable users crontab permission automaticly on new servers?I have whm/cpanel there but it seems there is nothing about it there.
I just leased a server through EV1. It's Linux (I think), Apache, and Plesk 8.0. I'm trying to get error reporting to work for my php scripts. I opened up the php.ini file (I'm about 90% sure that it's the right php.ini file) found in the /etc folder. I changed error reporting to "on" and restarted my server with Plesk.
i just got setup with a dedicated linux server with cpanel/whm access and root and well i have a site on the server that im installing some software on and its come up saying that my server does not support these things and to change them
PHP Extension: GD Your server does not support GD Library and cannot use (thumbnail generation, re-size/scale, etc).
PHP Function: mb_detect_encoding() Your server does not support multibyte character encoding.
PHP Extension: openssl() Your server does not support the openssl().
to take within my root access to turn on/ enable support for these functions and extension
I have a server running CentOS with PHP 5.2 and I'm trying to figure out how to enable PDO with the MySQL extension. I had thought PDO always came enabled with 5.2, but that apparently isn't so with this box. I am only familiar with Ubuntu/Debian, and am not sure how things are done on CentOs.
I have SSL certificated (GeoTrust) installed on my server for one of my site since last year, and it has been working fine.
This morning I found my site to be down, SSL connection not working.
I restarted httpd via WHM, and it failed to restart.
I removed my SSL certificate using WHM at "Manage SSL Hosts", then I can restart my httpd.
So, I think there is some conflicts between my httpd and SSL. Any idea how should I solve the problem? I have paid for the SSL cert for two years, and I want it to be back on my site.
in order to secure my server against instrusion, i disabled ssh root login and created a user for myself. however in order to access the user i need to enable SSH Password authentication
I dont enable password authentication all the time and i keep it disabled unless i need to do something via ssh.
Now my question will be, is there a way to keep the user i created and keep the root login disabled and password authentication disabled but use ssh keys for the user i created?
I was informed that if i opt to login to ssh via the user i created, the only way to do that is to enable password authentication as it cannot work with ssh keys. is this true?
I really hope someone can help me how to use the user i created together with ssh keys so i dont have to enable password authentication when loggin to ssh
I want to enable our server ssi server side includes (.shtml parsed).
My hosting company controls our server uptime, daily backup, server loads etc. when i request them; can you please enable ssi for shtml pages, i want to use ssi includes etc.. they suggested me use php instead of shtml for includes.
I want to .shtml, beacuse i use only ssi include header, footer same pages, also these pages search engine friendly.
Apache version: 2.0.52
I posted them please add following lines and restart apache afterwards:
Options +IncludesNoExec AddType text/html .shtml AddOutputFilter INCLUDES .shtml
They added and restarted apache, but not any affect. When i access .shtml pages via web browser, page opening successfully but not parse ssi includes, example:
<!--#include file="header.html" -->
but not parse, also i cannot use .htaccess files, our server admin say restricted them because security reasons.
I requested them our server root username and password, they say to me; before give you server root password, we remove all our server administration software from server and server administration service will be cancelled.
We are trying to enable the dedicated IIS pool for some customers through the RPC API (Plesk 12, Win2k12R2) but couldn't find a way to. I understand we can do it through CLI with "client_pref.exe --set-iis-app-pool-settings <login_name> -iis-app-pool-turned-on true", and also through web interface, but is it possible via API? it would be really easier and cleaner.
