I am using Plesk 8.6 with Mail Enable standard edition.
Since past two weeks the things were working fine. Yesterday I had activated the antispam option given in the admin panel of plesk. And since today morning nobody is able to login into their mailboxes. Outlook gives error message as:
"Task 'mail.absoluteinternational.net - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC92) : 'Your e-mail server rejected your login. Verify your user name and password in your account properties. Under Tools, click E-mail accounts. The server responded: -ERR Unable to log on. Only one connection to a mailbox permitted at a time.' "
And webmail gives error message as "Login Failed".
Also if I do test account settings in MS Outlook, all the tasks would come as completed except Log on to incoming mail server (POP3). If I check the POP logs I get the error message as:
"07/21/09 01:17:28POPS368122.169.82.167PASSPASS *-ERR Unable to log on. Only one connection to a mailbox permitted at a time.018"
i was pinged a few times asking why dont we support unlimited Exchange Mailbox where as lots of providers do.
I took the question to our Product team and here is what they shared with me, which i thought to extend to my friends here...
1. The primary reason for not having an unlimited mailbox size is the possibility of runaway mailbox growth. There are several scenarios, such as a Denial of Service attack, an auto-reply rule storm, a runaway automated process, or some other unforeseen event that can generate hundreds of thousands, or even millions, of email addresses to a single mailbox (or group of mailboxes), having it grow to astronomical proportions (100’s of gigabytes) in a very short time. We have seen this happen multiple times that we come in to help clean up. A runaway email box (or boxes) can quickly and easily expand to consume all of the available storage and resources of the mailbox server, and severely cripple availability for all other users of the system. (This impacts ALL customers on the hosted environment)
2. Secondarily, if we allow unlimited mailbox growth and the customer is charged for storage, this can result in an unexpectedly large bill.
3. Some providers who claim to offer “unlimited” mailbox size are actually offering an “arbitrary maximum” mailbox size. If you dig into their SLAs they state that there is a “functional limit”, which they do not define, and they also state that mailboxes should not be used as archives, which implies that if/when users reach this undefined functional limit, older items are the ones that get deleted/purged. So, none of our competitors actually offer unlimited mailboxes, just undefined, arbitrary mailbox limits.
4. As an Exchange mailbox gets larger, it becomes more and more difficult for a user to manage and use. This issue applies regardless of server configurations or resources – it is a matter of the complexity of having the Outlook client manage multiple gigabytes of mailbox storage and the corresponding tens or hundreds of thousands of individual messages.
I have a VPS running Windows 2003 with Plesk 8.1 and MailEnable Standard Edition.
I don;t recieve all the emails that being sent to my domain. I know that a person did send e an email but it didn't reach my inbox. And, however, the user that sent this email didn't recieve any error.
Is there any way hat I can check this issue to be sure? It'snot only one person that I know the sent me emails and I dind't see them.
I don;t have antivisur or antispam enabled on this domain.
I registered a domain and ordered an hosting package in a registrar. But my site was always down. So I ordered a VPS server in another webhosting site and transferred my site data to this VPS hosting.
I changed the nameserver of my domain and made it point to my VPS server IP. Everything is OK but there is some problem with the mail function. I can send e-mail to admin@mydomain.com from other e-mail addresses. But the mainbox admin@mydomain.com can't receive e-mail from other e-mail addresses. Can anyone tell me what the problem is? Do I need to do some settings in WHM or cpanel?
Basically I want e-mails to myself going to a third party exchange mailbox provider and the other mailboxes for my domain going into their own mailboxes on my webhost server.
I have installed Squirrelmail and configure IMAP, Now when I create new mail domain then I can successfuly login in it. But when I create user level mailboxes then I can't login. Can anyone know the reason behind it?
I've installed the latest version of sendmail to my CentOS 5 server and I need to know where the received e-mails will be stored for the user "tero" for example that has its directory at /home/tero.
I added that user with adduser -s /sbin/nologin tero.
/etc/mail/local-host-names
Has these kind of lines in it: mydomain.com mail.mydomain.com
I have an individual that has moved there "sent box" to the deleted items and yes, has deleted them.
I have not used the restoration feature of plesk so i have a couple of questions before proceeding.
1. Can I restore a specific mail box folder "sent items"
2. If so will it overwrite all the items and only restore whats on the backup, because he has only just noticed and he has about 500 emails from the point he deleted it? or will it merge the items - e.g the 500 he has now + all the others from the back up.
3. If i cant restore a specific folder, does it overwrite all of the current mail from the backup.
i have one Mailbox on my server, which i cannot sending mails. I tested it with Outlook and Horde.
For Example, i see this error at the Maillog:
Code:
Jul 14 22:12:13 gaius postfix/cleanup[12194]: 2F653402A6: milter-reject: END-OF-MESSAGE from localhost[127.0.0.1]: 5.7.0 The message could not be sent. You are not allowed to use sendmail utility.; from=<user@server1.local> to=<user2@server.local> proto=ESMTP helo=<gaius.stefanshome.com>
I delete this Mailbox, but after a time, i have the same problem again. On the Plesk Webinterface there is no problem logging with the outgoing spam protection.
i imported ~15 email account during a cPanel migration/transfer done with the manager. mails are there but mailboxes, that had an unlimited quota, are now set to 350MB.
i tried a bunch of stuff, from searching the whole webinterface, changing db entries up to postfix main.cf.
i'm just restoring yesterdays backup. i already lost hours, and now am loosing nerves ..
where can I find this setting, or how can i set it in the DB (chancing max_box and mbox_size did not work, changes in the mail table were reflected on the UI, but not for postifx ..) ?
Is there a way to set the mailbox quotas for all of the mailboxes on a domain, at once? When I set the default, it doesn't change the quotas for existing mailboxes.
I have a script which checks the mailboxes of all clients to notify them when they're reaching capacity.
This does so by checking the psa database for their set limit and matching that to the maildirsize file within the user's Maildir directory.
After upgrading, though, my SQL query no longer works - it was:
Code: SELECT clients.email as owner_email, domains.id, domains.name, Limits.value AS domain_quota, mail.mail_name, mail.mbox_quota from Limits, clients, domains, mail WHERE mail.postbox='true' AND limit_name = 'mbox_quota' AND domains.limits_id = Limits.id AND mail.dom_id = domains.id AND clients.id = domains.cl_id ORDER BY domains.name ASC
However, on closer inspection, all values in the domains table for limit_id are NULL.
Has this changed in 11.5? Is there an alternative way to quickly get all limits for domains?
But with my current host, my incoming e-mails have stopped and have done quite a lot of times, If I send an e-mail to myself from another acount, it gets bounced back.
When I'm searching for hosts, I can't see any info on mailbox allowance.
I'm using Outlook to download all my e-mails.
I don't know why they are stopping and I can't find out from the person who got the host from me, in the past he said something about me having to delete e-mails. But this would come back to mailbox space which no hosts seem to advertise, unless it goes under webs space.
If my mailbox is full or ran out of space, does anybody have any recommendations for a host that offers a good amount of mailbox space.
Another question, am I limited to the amount of e-mails I can send with some hosts? I'll be sending out Newsletters to 600+ people each month.
I added users directly to mailenable (using their migration utility to import from an old mail server which plesk does not support). The domains exist in plesk but not the individual email users/mailboxes.
Now I want to add those email users to plesk but it doesn't let (not surprisingly), when I try to add a user it returns an error: "Unable to update the mail account properties:mailmng failed: MEAOPO.Mailbox.AddMailbox failed"
My question is: How can I add the users that already exist in MailEnable to the plesk configuration? (i.e. ignore the error and add the user to the plesk database, or even better yet if plesk can read the configuration and add all users)
Tthe plesk kb articles suggest running mchk.exe but that is designed to take users from plesk and add them to mailenable, I need the reverse).
I am having a Plesk server and when I scanned it with tools like OpenVas, It detected the following vulnerabilities with CVE acronym. As the corresponding ports and services are being controlled by Plesk, I require to patch it.URL....As you can see this vulnerability has been hit on port 106. I checked the Plesk server and found the port 106 being used by service "poppassd". This was nothing I installed and came along with the Plesk installation. Hence just wanted to make sure whether it has a patch from Parallels. As per my investigation this service is used for changing mailbox passwords and I am currently using Roundcube client. How to patch this vulnerability.
As per the solution in pic, the vulnerability "SMTP antivirus scanner DoS" can be resolved by upgrading or installing anti virus for Plesk mail server. I am ready to buy Dr.Web or Kaspersky from Parallels. But wanted to make sure whether any of the above antivirus can resolve the vulnerability.
