Domain Name Resolve Problems In WHM
I have installed WHM 11 on centos 5.3.
Currently I get problems that domains at certain places not open.
Like e.g I write my server IP XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX it works fine and I get ping reply also, but at the same time I write [url]it would not resolve.
Similarly in web browser I write server IP it gives cpanel page but on same computer I write [url]I get page cannot be opened, when I refresh the page at certain times then it would open. Now once it is opened in the same computer it would work fine here.
In some internet connections it works fine i.e no problems, in some connections get similar problems that domains does not resolve properly.
I checked my named service works fine.

I ran a simple BASH script to show what I mean. Cannot Resolve Any Domain Name
I am new to the dedicated servers. I have just upgraded myself to a dedicated machine. I am getting error "couldnt resolve host" at every domain name when I type like wget http://google.com wget http://yahoo.com I searched over internet and found some people telling that I should put nameserver to /etc/resolv.conf? nameserver <ip here> nameserver <ip here> I dont know what IP to put here or if it is a solution to my problem.

Bulk Domain Name Parking In Whm
I have to park 200+ domains for a client. I have full root access and normally I would go to: WHM >> Main >> DNS Functions >> Park a Domain However, manually adding every domain 1 by 1 will take a long time. Is there a way in WHM or in Root to bulk park all the 200+ domains? Or is there a script?

Using WHM To Switch Domain Names
I got abc.com and xyz.com websites hosted on my dedicated server with whm control panel. abc is my dev site and xyz is my current running live site. Now my dev site is done and I like to launch without uploading files to xyz.com. Both sites are on same server. So, I am thinking to rename xyz.com to nonexisting.com in whm (site will down at that time). After that, rename abc.com to xyz.com. In order to rename site names, I have to use Main >> Account Functions >> Modify an Account , and edit domain name>>save. if this is going to work for everything including email settings, ftp etc...

WHM/CPANEL Domain Name Server (DNS)
I have just purchased a VPS with WHM and CPANEL. My old VPS used LXADMIN and HYPERVM. I'm trying to change over the DNS from the old to the new, so all i did was change the i.p's. Now i go into WHM and type my DNS servers into the setup/config page. Having already assigned each dns name an i.p im just waiting for the Assign an A address to this namserver button to show my new i.p address.. At the minute it says my old one. Primary Domain Change For WHM Account
I have a hostee who as part of an out-of-court settlement, needs to change the primary domain they host on. The domain they're switching to is already a parked domain on their account. At first blush, it seems like it would be pretty easy, but now I'm concerned about their email. Both of the principals of the company use Horde extensively for webmail, and as such I have files on the server for their email accounts. What I was thinking about doing is this: 1. Stop parking the "new" domain on the account. 2. Change the account from using the "old" domain in WHM to the "new" domain by modifying the account in WHM. 3. Forwarding email sent to user@old.domain to user@new.domain, in CPanel. 4. Assorted changes on website to account for the new domain - published email addresses, new SSL cert, things like that. My concern is in how to move the mail files, currently set up to be for user@old.domain, to be readable by Horde as user@new.domain, so it's seamless to the users. We will be keeping the old domain under our control, but not using it to point to the site any more; I just don't want to have to tell them "OK, to get your old email, you have to check this address, and to get new email, you have to check this one." Would my plan above actually accomplish that? Is there a better way within a WHM/CPanel framework to accomplish what I need without losing email or access to it? What am I missing?

WHM Limit On # Of Emails Per Domain Per Hour
My server currently has 500 set for this parameter. However, I have some scripts that send out reminders and the number of emails will certainly exceed this limit. So this leads to some questions... What will happen if my scripts try to send out more than the limit? What happens when the limit is exceeded? Do the scripts "crash", or do they just keep running? Do the "over quota" emails just get discarded or do they get queued? How does this affect performance? Or maybe it doesn't? Does the email queue get clogged up if it has too many emails? What could be bad about increasing the limit - say to 2000? Would this create performance problems for my server? I have a couple sites that I'm hosting and I would prefer to keep the limit of 500. However, how can I increase the limit for my own scripts (domains)? Or, perhaps this option has nothing to do with performance and it's strictly in place as a security measure to prevent hosted accounts from spamming. I searched for information concerning this issue and couldn't find anything. The cPanel/WHM forum doesn't say what the parameter is for, just how to set it.

WHM: Domain Name Server (DNS) Sometimes Resolves To Wrong IP
I have a dedicated WHM server (qumbia.org) with several CPanel accounts, among them: - qumibiao (qumbia.org). - qumbiaca (qumbia.ca). Both of these accounts were set to the same ip (70.86.221.122). 15 days ago, I changed qumbiaca to the ip 70.86.221.123 Since, some requests (about 1% of the total according to my logs) for qumbia.ca are still serving up what's in /home/qumbiao/public_html I know next to nothing about this, but perhaps some ISPs have cached the 70.86.221.122 IP and are directing requests there? Still, why wouldn't WHM, upon receiving such a request, resolve it to the right address, it being on the same server? My Time to live record is set to 24 hours on my DNS, and the expire header set to 41 days. Might it be a good idea to set up a new DNS (NS3.QUMBIA.ORG) on my WHM and give that DNS to qumbia.ca? Would this force the ISPs to reset their cache? Or does the problem lie elsewhere? Should I just wait out the 41-day expire period and hope for the best?

Sub Domain On Different Server Exim Unroutable Address - WHM/cPanel
I have two servers running cPanel/WHM, with BIND and Exim. I have my main domain running on one server (gizmo.mywebhost.net) and wish to host a seperate helpdesk on a subdomain support.mydomain.com (on a second server, stripe.mywebhost.net). The subdomain mail account test@support.mydomain.com works fine with hotmail, i can send and reveive between my stripe.mywebhost.net server and hotmail without any issue. The problem is when i try and send mails from accounts hosted on gizmo.mywebhost.net, to the subdomain server stripe.mywebhost.net, i get the following unroutable address error fired back by the local exim process: This message was created automatically by mail delivery software. A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. Limiting Cpu/memory Of A Single User/domain In Whm
i've been researching this but can't seem to find a decent solution. basically trying to limit the cpu usage of a single domain, or limit accesses per hour if that's possible? i tried adding an entry in /etc/security/limits.conf which restricts numproc to 2 and then down to 1, but it doens't seem to make any impact on the load. load of the server drops from about 1.5-2 down to 0.02 when this single site is suspended, and i can't have it run wild. ideally would like a message that says something along the lines of server is too busy... trying again in 5 seconds or something along those lines?

Hostname Does Not Resolve To Any IP
I hope your day is going good. I've been trying to fix a problem I had all week. I receive daily email notification that "example.[url]" does not resolve to any IP. However, when in WHM, it already contains Server Main Ip: 208.53.183.125. I've tried a few solutions from the web, but to no avail: IMPORTANT: Do not ignore this email. The hostname (example.mydomainname.com) resolves to . It should resolve to 208.53.183.125. Please be sure to correct /etc/hosts as well as the 'A' entry in zone file for the domain. Some are all of these problems can be caused by /etc/resolv.conf being setup incorrectly. Please check this file if you believe everything else is correct. I've got several subdomains on the ethoshosting.com server, but I recently created a subdomain (the same way as before) and it doesn't resolve The dig command run through shell works. I have nameservers setup on my server. As I have changed my servers, I need to resolve the sites. I changed the nameservers Ips to resolve to new one: 67.159.33.250 and 67.159.33.251 But my sites and my clients sites are going down. DNS :: Domains Will Not Resolve
I've been having this problem for a while now. I have a dedicated linix server running with the cpanel. I've setup my own nameservers and for the most part it all runs without a problem. However, every now and then the domains will not resolve for many people. This may only last a few minutes but it happens regularly. There doesn't seem to be any pattern. The server is still available via IP address. Also, any domain name set as a nameserver with the registrar is not affected by this problem. All other domains are affected. This problem has persisted over many cpanel updates. I have gone through all the nameserver files (I can think of or have read about) looking for something that may be causing this but everything looks normal.

I Can't Resolve Hosted Domains
I can't resolve hosted domains on ssh or via php on my server. All of other domains fine when i dig or ping but mine is not. I did run fix scripts for dns and restarted named but result is still same. Also, when i try to reach one of my domains via php's fsockopen function, i get "65 No route to host" or "68 Too many users" error.

Www Version Doesn't Resolve
I set up a domain in plesk 8 (LAMP), but the www version of the domain doesn't resolve via the browser, wheras the non-www version does. I set the nameservers (and glue records) yesterday. Why might this be? Could this be due to dns propagation?

Using Www Site Doesnt Resolve
Yesterday we registerd and created 2 domains in our server. Everything is ok, files uploaded, dns zones created, httpd virtual host created... The problem is that trying to browse the site trough http://www.site.com redirects me to [url] my main server IP address, this page shows a cPanel Welcome message. 5 hours back I got fails of services mails and then I restart VPS but after few minuts services status up but sites not working. I contact with support and they told me "Service Named is down on your server". PHP Bug- PHP Can't Resolve Domains, Server Can
My VPS was a clean build 2 weeks ago and so far i have installed cpanel and configured everything and added accounts. I began that one of my scripts that uses gethostbyaddr($ip) was failing to resolve any of the ip's it received. Reverse Domain Name Server (DNS) ARPA For Domain On VPS
I have a vps with dedicated ip's for my domain names. I read that in order for mails coming from my server not be picked up as spam, i need to add reverse ip entries. Now i have already added the glue nameserver records on my godaddy control panel, ns1.mydomain.com -> 10.20.30.40 ns2.mydomain.com -> 10.20.30.41 But do i need to speak to the datacenter to add the reverse dns entries for my domain on their nameservers? What about if i host my nameservers offsite, but then have my webserver/mailserver etc inside the datacenter? Would i need to request the datacenter where the nameservers are hosted to add the reverse ip entries for the domain, and then the request the same from the datacenter for my web/mail servers to add the reverse entries? Is it really required?

Domain Parking - Wildcard Domain Name Server (DNS)?
We have a lot of unused domains that we'd like to setup domain parking for. To keep it simple, we'd like to just change the namesevers to ns1.domainparking.com and ns2.domainparking.com (not real nameservers!) and the domains would then automatically show a simple web page. We use cpanel servers and are wondering how easy this is to do? I've seem mention of wildcard dns? Is that the answer?

Domain Parking With Win2k3 Domain Name Server (DNS)?
i have about 8 different domains i'd like to point to a nameserver (ns1./ns2.mydomain.com) on Win2k3 server, but i can't get them resolved through my nameserver without creating a manual forward lookup entry for each *parked* domain separatly.. Does anyone know how to resolve "parked" domains automatically on Win2k3 DNS?? I just can't find any answer for this, everything i've found required manual creation of lookup entries.. anyone?

32 Or 64bit & Existing Domain Net Vs New Domain
delving into a new server, a dual opteron w/Centos. Got two questions as I think about setup. 1) 32 bit or 64bit? 2) Regarding host names and server assignemt...I can either assign it as a node to a domain hosted elsewhere in a reseller account, or I can start with a completely unused domain which is currently parked. Any preference, in an ideal world? (I have absolutely no preference, but it occurrred to me it may or may not be of consequence, perfomance & IT-wise and generally speaking .. all things being equal, of course.) Like I said, a newbie. So I'm braced for the if-you-have-to-ask, you-shouldn't-be-in-one" musings for these rather basic boneheaders.

I'm setting my first eCommerce site and right now I need to resolve the following issue. I need to install (well, the hosting company will do it for me) a SSL certificate and I need to know what is best or common practice, to use domainname.com or www.domainname.com I don't know what difference it would make but it seems to do so because the hosting company is asking me to choose. Being that I'm clueless about this, I would also appreciate a quick explanation on the benefits or downfalls of using either one.
