Create SSL Website Or Sub Domain - CPanel And No Panel
I would like to create an SSL website for parts of my domain. I have a few VPS's one running cPanel, the others running just Webmin.
Now I have managed to install SSL as I can login to WHM/cPanel using the secure port fine. Also I have installed SSL on the Webmin VPS's as I followed www.webmin.com/ssl.html which tells you how.
However I would like to get sections of my website secure i.e secure.mydomain.com would be HTTPS, and the rest of the site just normal HTTP.

Domain.com Or Www.domain.com For SSL Certificates
I'm setting my first eCommerce site and right now I need to resolve the following issue. I need to install (well, the hosting company will do it for me) a SSL certificate and I need to know what is best or common practice, to use domainname.com or www.domainname.com I don't know what difference it would make but it seems to do so because the hosting company is asking me to choose. Being that I'm clueless about this, I would also appreciate a quick explanation on the benefits or downfalls of using either one.

Implement Ssl Certificates On My Website
i am having a complete nihgtmare trying to implement ssl on my website. I have ports forwarded on my router for 80 and 443 to my webserver and i can always access my website when i do not have ssl activated. When i do activate ssl though i get the message saying this site must be used using a secure channel which is ok but when i enter [url] i just get a message saying page cannot be displayed. I have installed a certificate and i think it is correct. I am not even be able to access it internally on my intranet.

Control Panel For Hosting Only 1 Domain?
I can find my way around linux but I don't know it well enough to administer the server without a control panel... All I really need is to manage basic functions for a single domain like email accounts, dns, backups and also see some visitor stats. Webmin seems to be missing some stuff that I need to do... Cpanel is nice but it's expensive and seems to be designed for a reseller who is going to sell web hosting accounts. All I need is to manage one domain... Am I stuck paying for all the stuff I don't need with cpanel or what are the options?

Resellers Are Not Permitted To Create Subdomains Of The Server's Main Domain
Whenever I try to create a user account I get the following error Sorry, resellers are not permitted to create subdomains of the server's main domain My server domain is www.domain.com and reseller is trying to create a user account like new.domain.com . It was working fine a few weeks back but I think since I upgraded the cpanel and whm, it doesnt allow creation of accounts anymore. Could someone help me to fix this error please? CPanel: Modify Or Create An Account
I've just run upon a problem while trying to go into my phpMyadmin from within my MySQL Databases icon. When I try to log into phpMyadmin I get this message: Quote: "This feature is not available while logged in with root override. You are logged in with the root, or reseller's password. Please login with this user's account password." Also, as soon as I log into cPanel I receive a red "Warning: You are logged in using the reseller or root password." Yes, I am logging into the only account I have. When logging in with the initial account I created I can view the MySQL dbs that I have created, but I don't have access to phpMyadmin - I get that error message. This is new because for the last two weeks - about as long as I've had this server - I have had no problem even signing in with the same user id and password. Suddenly it won't let me in. So what do I need to do? I created a new account, but I can't see my MySQL dbs with that new account. I don't know how to modify my one existing account so that I can access phpMyadmin. Any thoughts? I hope I've been clear.

I have this problem today after a fresh install... I think its maybe i havent dont it proper im not sure.. CPanel: How To Create Isolated SubDomain With It's Own FTP
OK here is the background of the problem. I wanted to host customers for one of my scripts on subdomains. So customer A will be on [url] customer B will be on [url], and so on and so forth..... As far as my knowledge goes, cPanel allows me to create an addon domain with it's own FTP account. But I need to create subdomains, each with their own FTP account. The subdomains should be isolated from each other, meaning customerA should not be able to access customerB's files (e.g. via PHP/perl script). I have a feeling that this is possible with some hacks/workarounds.

Whm/Cpanel 11, Nameservers In Create Account Will Not Change
I changed my nameservers from my last domain, I deleted all the dns entries etc... and updated my hostname etc... But, when I go to create a new cpanel account, it still shows up with my own nameservers and making it with my old nameservers. I tried going to /etc/nameserverips and they were the new nameservers. Im not sure how to fix this, any ideas?

i just got this ssl certificate but i have some doubts how exactly should i set up the whole magic. i created the secure.domain.com which suppose to be the sub-domain for the login page which means when user decide to sign up/login to immediately transfer to the ssl state(sample: see ebay.com and then their https login page). so, far the home page which is domain.com(or www.domain.com) it doesn't need to be covered by the ssl. so, i was just wondering how do i play the game? i know it's kinda tricky and the key is somewhere in the sub-domain name(cP set up), .htaccess and/or index.php files but not very clear to me.

Can I Transfer A Site From CPanel Backups To Dedicated With No Control Panel
I am planning on moving to a dedicated server from my current shared host. In my cpanel i have the options: Generate/Download a Full Backup Download a home directory Backup Download a MySQL DB Backup Download Alias/Filter Backup I suppose a "Full Backup" would be ideal. But are these backup files only restorable by cpanel, or can I use them to successfully migrate my entire site to the dedicated server? It's running Debian with no control panel. I could install a free one if necessary.

If I Use My Domain As A Nameserver Can It Still Be The Website
Basically as the title says I have a domain thedrunkengamer.net that is my main domain and website, I just got a dedicated server and in the startup steps in WHM im at the Nameserver setup screen. If i go to GoDaddy and register ns1.thedrunkengamer.net and ns2.thedrunkengamer.net as nameservers can I still use www.thedrunkengamer.net as my website? If so by doing this will it impact the performance of my website at all? Should I register a seperate domain to use for nameservers?

Now what I can think of is, add newname. com to my account, and change DNS to point to my nameserver, then copy the whole forum under new website. I dont know if this way is correct. Website Hacked, IP And Domain
This is the second time this week that my website was hacked. On the first hack attempt they somehow got into my cpanel and corrupted my license file which I had my host fix. Other than that the only damage done was an html file that replaced my main page. Then today, I find that my website has been further compromised, but by a completely different group. The first hacker was g3n3t1x and this second hack was done by www.turkishdefacerteam.com Now, the problem is my sites dedicated IP is 72.36.192.150, and my domain name is gamingguilds.net, but if you resolve the domain name, it resolves to 74.53.52.66. I have checked my nameservers and everything is set properly. But the thing I don't get is that when you type in my domain name in a web browser, you see my website. How can it be resolving to the wrong IP and STILL show my website. Also note that when you type in my dedicated IP it would still show my website (before this second attack). Now after the second attack, my dedicated IP no longer works, I cant get into cpanel using the IP, I cant get into my FTP account, and I get view my website. Yet if you use the domain name to log into cpanel or view the website it works. The strange part here is that I can't get into the FTP using the domain name. SO, if you go to [url]you see a blank cpanel site, if you go to [url] you get a 404 error, and if you go to www.gamingguilds.net you get my website.

SSL For Any Domain Hosted On Single Server
is there any sort of ssl certificate that will 'secure' any domain, hosted on a single server? For example, I have the following domains and subdomains: google.com test.google.com mywebsite.com hello.example.com All will be hosted on the same server (same IP) and I want all to be secured, through a SIGNED certificate, not a self signed. I assumed that wildcard ssl would be fine for this, but I just took a look and it's only for subdomains: example.example.com hello.example.com. Is there any way of having every subdomain and domain secured, using ssl, through one certificate? I don't want to have to buy individual certificates for every domain, that'd be... expensive.

Domain Name Redirecting To Unknown Website
I came across a problematic situation today. Our client pmb.com.my has complained that their domain, when accessed from search engines will go to another site, not theirs. So, perhaps you guys can try this out. 1. Type the URL on the browser directly: [url] You'll get the real site. 2. Try searching for "pmb malaysia" on Google: [url] 3. You should see a normal listing for the site as the 1st result. Try clicking that link. 4. In our checks, it will go to a landing page (black bankground), and will redirect to an adult site. 5. You get this landing page too when you click the link to the site in step 1. Appreciate if more people can try this out and post your findings here. I've contacted the RZ (site hosted there), and they said it is an issue with Google's cache. Not sure I buy that.

Preview Website Before Domain Update
I've recently opened an account at a shared webhosting, cPanel managed. I've assigned it the main domain name I plan to use, but currently that domain points to another webhosting. Before I proceed with the change of nameservers and make the definitive switch from the old to the new host, is there any way I can privately preview my site (100% HTML) from the new host? I'd like to ensure it's working OK before making the jump. I've tried to add an entry to my local HOSTS file assigning my domain to the new host IP, but I only get a default page from the new server.

SSL With CPanel
I'm having big trouble trying to update an SSL certificate with cPanel. I'm such a dummy that I've ended up buying 2 SSL certificates to see if that may fix it. I now have 1 certificate for www.mydomainname.com and 1 for just mydomainname.com I have logged into the account in cpanel and uploaded both certificates and when I view them in Security -> SSL/TLS manager -> Certificates They both display the correct host, correct issuer, and correct expire date. But when I try to visit my site using https I get: The certificate expired on 4/8/2008 7:59 PM. (Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer)

1 SSL Cert... 1 Domain... 2 Servers. How To Setup A Backup Server
We have two in-house servers, one is hosting our public web server. The other one was just purchased to host a mirror of the production server (as a backup). CPanel And SSL Certificates
I am continuously getting this error message in my error_logs Invalid method in request x16x03x01 I searched and found out that it is something to do with httpd.conf configurations and SSL. So I asked my provider to check it and solve. First they acknowledge that it was SSL issue but later I was told Quote: Since cPanel controls how the virtualhosts are configured this error most likely cannot be fix since cPanel will just revert the change. ..... The SSL connection with the selfsigned cert works beyond kicking out the error, but again cPanel controls the httpd.conf and how the * virtualhosts are configured. So my question is, Is it common to have this error message with a cPanel VPS? Is there any solution? I think I hit this error every time when I login to WHM or cPanel of every domain. Should this be fixed or it's not exactly an issue.

Cpanel And Wildcard Ssl
Now that I have relieved a lot of frustration I can talk about my issue. We have a cpanel server and are trying to install a wildcard ssl certificate on it. As you could tell from above its not working out so well. The cert was ordered an installed as *.domain.com . It works great on https://domain.com and [url] However, when I do [url]its an epic fail. Its a seperate cpanel account even with its own dedicated IP address. I look in the httpd.conf file and see the :80 entry however, I need to add a :443 entry in a way that cpanel/whm will not change it next time i add an account. When I try to install the SSL certificate in WHM on jeff.domain.com it tells me the domain does not match. So I am asking how do I get this to work? I have searched for quite a while on the net and have not come across anything that works.

CPanel, Stunnel, And SSL
I have cpanel VPS and I have to pass PCI (credit card compliance). SSL v2 is considered a vulnerability and have to be disabled, so only SSL3/TLS1 are supported. I have no problem disabling it in Apache (port 443) by adding line to httpd.conf: SSLProtocol all -SSLv2 Obviously, it doesn't work for other non-apache ports. I found how to plug port 25 (Postfix). But I have no idea how to plug cpanel/WHM ports 2087 and so on. After some research I found that stunnel is used to create secure connection via port 2087. I closed insecure port 2086, so only [url] is used to access WHM I read stunnel documentation and found that: options=NO_SSLv2 placed in stunnel.conf disables SSL v2. I added this line to the stunnel.conf used by cpanel. I know it's right file because then I made a type, cpanel couldn't load ssl. Unfortunately, it didn't work. Nmap or simple openssl connection show SSL v2 enable on port 2087. So, my questions: 1) What did I do wrong? Or it's something specific to cPanel. I don't think so, since according to cpanel startup script it just starts stunnel. If stunnel isn't loaded, I can't use 2087 2) How else I can fix it? Few people on internet mentioned disabling SSL2 during openssl build time but I couldn't find how to do it. I don't really want to mess with source code 3) Any other ideas? Make Apache/mod_ssl somehow listen to this port 2087 and redirect it to 2086? My hosting support while being very responsive and quick couldn't help me. I found it strange, since it's a very large provider (no names) and it must be ecommerce sites hosted. They told me Cpanel can't be compliant with PCI. I don't really believe since cpanel is nothing more that bunch of control scripts used only for site management

I have got a WHM Reseller Account, with a Dedicated IP address and RapidSSL Certificate. My host has setup the SSL for me, and it works fine when I access [url](where main-domain.com is the Domain associated with my WHM account). However when I try and access https on any Account which I've made under my Reseller Account, I'm just redirected back to [url] I was under the impression that if I accessed a Domain on an account I made that shares the same IP as my SSL Certificate, that the SSL Certificate would appear for that Domain name too, but this isn't the case. Is there any change the my DNS records, or something I can ask my host to do to get it to work?

SSL - CA Bundle Won't Install In CPanel
Has anybody ever had this error in CPanel 11 SSL Manager? How did you solve it? We used the CA Bundle supplied by Comodo. We tried installing SSL with Comodo and the CA Bundle isn't installing at all. Is this an issue with the server?
