How Do I Create My Own Free Forum Hosting Website?
Nov 2, 2008
How would I go about creating my own website for free forum hosting? You know, sites such as ProBoards and Forumer. A site where someone can fill in some information (name, URL, e-mail, etc.) and instantly have their own phpBB, IPB, or MyBB forum.
I could host it, but I don't understand how to make it so right when they click submit it creates them a forum. If someone could point me in the right direction or link me to a tutorial (which I doubt exists),

I am looking for free adult web hosting, as I am doing a site for an escort. It's fine if it has the following for her site:
escortName.someDomain.domainSuffix
Also, need CGI, PHP, MySQL, good amount of web space & bandwidth as she may want a video or two -- besides gallery images -- to be put up, etc.

I'm the owner of a website/forum over the last year i have had health problems that forced me to let someone else administrate my site.
What has become apparent to me is that during the last year this individual has been manipulating the situation to take over my site.
What i would like to know given that all is in my name and that i have sole access to the master account. what do i need to do to make sure that if i have to rid myself of this person how do i protect my site.
He has access to the cpanel within my master account mysql ect..and hasn't changed the pswrd yet, if he does change it i still have access through the master account, but i would need to know how i can reset that password if he does. and lock him out if i cant change the pswrd.
Secondly he upgraded our forum to phpbb3 and in the proccess in the forum he has removed me as founder, and put himself as founder, i have asked him 3 times to put me to founder but he has yet to comply, and i have yet to make a big deal of this to avoid him taking action against me first, im not as tech savy as he is unfortunatly. For this i would need to know how to lock him out.Changing myself to founder and removing his access. also such as checking to see if he has created any sleeper admin accounts as a backdoor if i fire him.
legally i would also need to know what i can do, if he takes a copy of our forum and creates a knockoff site with it as he has also been manipulating the site's membership and a split will most likely result if i take action against him, do i have any legal recourse even though we are in different countries?

I'm promting a new Joomla! website and a new vBulletin forum. The website serves to news articles, some statistics (related to a football club) and also a small photo and video gallery. The forum would have an average of 40-50 online users.
I'm considering to choose the baby package offered by Host Gator. Would that be a good choice?

Does anyone know if there is a company or a program that would allow me to setup free email for users using my domain name? Say if I wanted to be my own gmail or hotmail - maybe on a much smaller scale at first?

Do you think if a company offered free web hosting and free domains people would snap them up like there is no tommorow?
Also does anyone one how much ICANN acredited registrars pay ICANN when they register a new domain?
any feedback would be great!

In the event of hosting a web program, who is responsible for the security, ie against hackers, virus and the like. Is it the hosting company or the program developer or the person running the website? Also, what is the best thing to do, with personal computers there's anti virus software, but what about the case of an entire website, do anti virus software companies have solutions for entire websites?

"No strings attached" - [url]
I use Pingdom "Pro" (or whatever the paid version is to be branded as), and I think it is fantastic. It is yet to let us down or misinform us. It'll be interesting to see whether we see quality dilution from the inevitable rush of freebie accounts.

I would like to create an SSL website for parts of my domain. I have a few VPS's one running cPanel, the others running just Webmin.
Now I have managed to install SSL as I can login to WHM/cPanel using the secure port fine. Also I have installed SSL on the Webmin VPS's as I followed www.webmin.com/ssl.html which tells you how.
However I would like to get sections of my website secure i.e secure.mydomain.com would be HTTPS, and the rest of the site just normal HTTP.

Some of websites like youtube and facebook are blocked in my country and we can't access them .in addition most of tunneling protocols like PPTP are blocked too . I want to create a website that tunnels between our network and this website like proxy or other ways. Scripts like phpProxy are not secure and many websites don't permit the visitors who come with this scripts. A very good sample for my idea is walww.com . This websites is like alternate for blocked addresses like facebook, but it's premium and require charging cash .
How can I create website like walww.com . I have my own VPS and Host for this issue. Is that possible to serve this blocked websites trough proxy by configuring apache settings?

I want to host a invision forum. I have a lot of exp admining and modding but I have never run one myself.
I plan on using 15-30 gigs of material on site and the rest will be offsite storage.
I do not know how many members I will have it could be just a couple of hundred to a couple of thousand.
My question. I was planning on going with WiredTree because of all the great reiviews out there. And buying thier vps512 which has 60 gigs of storage and 800 monthly bandwith.
Will that be enough do you think? More, less? I would like to stay within 50-100 dollars. since I am mainly running this for recreation and not looking to make a profit.
I have never hosted a website or such before, but after reading here and doing research I do not really want a shared server.

MS SQL Server 2000 or above (directly or via ODBC)

Of course free hosts are preferred, but nothing too expensive will do fine aswell. n_n

I have been hosting a Snitz ASP forum on a friends Windows 2003 webserver for the last 4 years. The forum has been slowing down recently and my friend has told me to sling my hook!
I'm presuming that our Snitz forum must have a database behind it (think its Access).
This is where I'm getting confused when it comes to looking for web hosting services.
I'm not really sure what I need.

I am the owner of the vbulletin forum. The forum is young but it is growing rapidly. It has 11000 posts, 800 members and about 30 users online. I use many mods which are server intensive.
I was on a semi-dedicated hosting (Westnic), which I shared with my friend to reduce the costs. Now I feel I should move on, because this package is becoming too small for both of us.
I wanted to upgrade my hosting package to a bigger one, but now when I have read so many horrible stories about this host, I really don't want to stay with Westnic.
So I am looking for a reliable host for my forum.
I am still now sure whether I need a semi-dedicated, VPS or a dedicated server. Also, I am not sure how much dedicated memory a forum like mine would need. Also, I am not sure about the location of the server - does it really matter?

I have found this forum through searching google for articles etc about the best/cheapest host for a small forum, and I think this is the best place to ask I have searched the many topics on this but none of them quite answer my question, so I apologise for repeating what may have already been done.
Anyway....
I currently use a free host (forumotion) and have become increasingly frustrated at not having total control over my forum, and not having access to the database.
I figure now will be a good time to move as the forum is only a couple of months old.
So what I am looking for is a basic hosting package including domain name, that can support phpbb version 3. Im looking for cheap and cheerful basically. I dont know enough about this kind of thing to elaborate, but here are my forum stats;
Number of posts 10781
Posts per day 121.13
Number of topics 625
Topics per day 7.02
Number of users 153
Users per day 1.72
Most users ever online 40

As you can see it is pretty small.....it may grow over the next couple of years but has a shelf life of 2010 as that is when the TV show finishes (its a Lost forum), and it may continue for a while after that but I dont expect it to go on and on and on
We have a lot of media posted, mainly youtube vids and jpeg, and we also have a small aracde, so i'm guessing I would need a lot of room there? Plus we have newsletters that would need to be hosted as online versions but they are just html documents.
I hope I have given enough information....oh budget wise I am looking at cheapest possible as I dont want to start charging members to fund the hosting costs.

I've made my first website and I'm trying to find web hosting that is free and that it will also allows me to transfer my files through ftp directly through an ftp server. (ftp.example.com)
I've tried using the one for freewebpage.org but it doesn't work.. I tried it using port 21, 22, and 80 in both frontpage and filezilla and they didn't work.. I guess it's the ftp server that isn't really working, or the information they provide is inaccurate.
