I have a new dedicated server (my first one) with CentOS and Cpanel, and after a restart I can't access any web or ftp service... wasn't it supposed to autostart whith the system boot?
Another dumb problem I'd like to ask about: I've changed the ssh port for security puroposes, and now I can't acces ssh neither though the old port or he new one... could this be a firewall issue? How can I solve it now without ssh? :-/
I have a problem at the moment in terms of I have recently implemented WHMSonic to our webserver but when the server reboots or goes down and automagically reboots itself, I have to manually restart the shoutcast service.
I have been trying to read around the documentation behind init.d and rc# and have successfully managed to confuse myself.
What I dont understand is how this runlevel system works.
All I want to do is ensure that shoutcast is running after a reboot.
Ive been having this issue on a box im messing around with. I run custom services that launch an exe file. Everything runs fine while the server is running. But on reboot random custom services fail. Terminal services also fails to start.
The number of services that need launched on restart seems to be random each time. Sometimes services start to fail, at around 70+ being setup. Other times you don't see it failing until 100+ services needs started on reboot.
The server load with all services running is 2-5% and physical memory is about 200 megs of 1gig, paged, is about 300-400 megs used.
It is normally 3-4 custom services that fail on reboot. The ones that fail have the following error in event viewer.
Description: Subprocess monitoring failed due to subprocess is no longer active. The subprocess is probably dead. Restarting the process. Error detail: Overlapped I/O operation is in progress.
It will keep getting this error over and over again. However, if i stop all custom services and then start them, everything launches fine.
When this happens on reboot Terminal services also fails to start. It will not start, until I stop all the custom services. At which point it allows me to start TS without any errors.

What I am trying to accomplish is a way to automatically launch these EXE files, and have something that restarts them if they crash or fail. I haven't been able to find a specific reason this is happening or how to fix it. So I am open to any other suggestions on how to do this.
The cPanel on my dedicated server which I recently purchased from siterollout.com is giving me lotsa trouble. I never even touched cPanel settings, its been like that ever since I purchased it.
Cpanel installed on Centos 5.2 on a dedicated server.
This morning, I received multiple emails about services being restarted. About 20 minutes apart, with nothing that I coudl see going on with the server, I had multiple services fail and restart.
How do I trouble shoot this to see if there is a problem?
At 6:21 The following services failed: httpd lfd httpd cpsrvd lfd and I received emailed messages similar to these (obviously the port and service name were didfferent in each email). cpsrvd failed @ Sat Nov 15 06:21:29 2008. We have a VPS Server from one of the most reputable VPS Provider. We have 384 Guaranteed RAM and 1GB Burst. We have Dual Core AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 265 - 1795.503 MHz with 1024 KB cached allocated to our VPS.
It is only hosting 2 average forums (10-15 concurrent users in total) and 30 small websites, low traffic websites.
The problem we are having is, almost 3 times a week, the cPanel, named and apache services keeps stopping. I am monitoring our server when this is happen and prior to the event its only using about 300MB RAM and low CPU..
What could be causing this problem? Do I need to upgrade our RAM?

I was adding another apache node to the cluster. All the nodes have RHEL5 installed on it. I downloaded the source httpd-2.2.10 and compile it using commands:
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/apache --enable-module=so --enable-rewrite=shared --enable-cgi=shared --enable-unique_id=shared --enable-ssl=shared --enable-include=shared make make install
After it is compiled without any errors, when i am trying to start it it's giving me error. # /usr/local/apache/bin/apachectl start
httpd: Could not open configuration file /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf: Invalid argument
File exists at the said location. There is no permission issue also. # ll /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 13482 Dec 2 12:32 /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf

What if i got a really good connection to this house i have in Sweden and bought some servers there, is it a good idea and would it sell? How hard is it to get a good connection, the house is in a fairly populated area of Sweden and i have partners who could help run it and do support 24 hours.
But its just a thought and we would start small. What do you guys think?
I have a wordpress site, and am trying to find someone good and reasonable price to design me a template for the website so I can still use wordpress but have access and control to everything.. I am going to buy a domain as well to hook wordpress up to it so I can edit themes etc.. I was looking at maybe using mmhosting..
Also, I have a forum, but not sure what type of forum I need to be able to arrange it and add and use features don't I can't now, so basically upgrade..
My site, as I said is wordpress but I want it to look like the forums I am using..
I have a dedicated machine with Xen configured... Dom0 stuff runs great.
I have a pre-made image from jailtime.org, with an ubuntu.7-04.img, ubuntu-7-05.xen3.cfg, and ubuntu.swap -- obviously, the actual image, the config file, and the swap file.
Starting it fails:
Code: $ sudo xm create ./ubuntu.7-04.xen3.cfg Using config file "././ubuntu.7-04.xen3.cfg". The config file:
- Are the /boot and /dev/sda1 literal? That is, do they relate to Dom0 names (/boot on the server, and /dev/sda1, my "real" disk), or are they telling the new DomU what to call them?
- I don't want DHCP.... Do I change dhcp to "0" / "false," or do I specify an IP?
I've found a zillion guides out there, and they cover everything about setting up Xen, except for this one part, it seems?
