How can I change the ports for them ?
I need a simple basic server monitoring software that will do usual ports (ping, httpd, pop3, ssl, etc) and also notify me via sms (or email) of high server load (cpanel/whm).
I need something that is NOT nagios (ugly, too complex to setup), zenoss (cannot figure out what on earth to do to setup simple port monitoring, but nice interface).
Must be for linux with mysql 5 / php 5 compatible.
how to change ports of Nginx from 80 to 8080 I would like install Varnish

Our new data center provided us with a Cisco ASA5510 firewall. We're setting up all new servers and will begin migrating all of our domains from our current co-lo to the new place.
At the old co-lo, they provided us a very basic BSD based router, and our servers all had external public facing IPs on them. Firewalling was handled at the server (Windows Firewall or Linux IPtables).
The new place is NAT'ing us, so our servers all have a 192.168.10.x address inside, and they map the external address for us through to the inside.
By default, they are locking everything down. I had to ask them to open ssh so I could remote into my CentOS box last night.
I'm not a network guru-- what ports are going to NEED to be opened so I can give them a list? This is a standard PLESK hosting server so http (80), https, ssh, ftp, pop3, smtp, what else? Anyone have a list?
On my server not works links www.server.com/cpanel and www.server.com/whm only ports www.server.com:2082 www.server.com:2086 how repair this?

How do you add more server status services? Like how do you add like "exim" to show that it's up and running or something like http, ftpd etc..
How do you get things like that to show up showing green under server status?
pop failed @ Thu May 1 00:38:11 2008. A restart was attempted automagically.
Its been happening from around 00:00 GMT 30th April/1st May.
All my servers are spamming me with these, not just one. All are set to auto update on STABLE build.
Anyone else having these issues?
cPanel and their nasty bug releases I suppose. Even after paying them a premium price and recognizing them as a premium control panel provider!
I have a new dedicated server (my first one) with CentOS and Cpanel, and after a restart I can't access any web or ftp service... wasn't it supposed to autostart whith the system boot?
Another dumb problem I'd like to ask about: I've changed the ssh port for security puroposes, and now I can't acces ssh neither though the old port or he new one... could this be a firewall issue? How can I solve it now without ssh? :-/
Cpanel installed on Centos 5.2 on a dedicated server.
This morning, I received multiple emails about services being restarted. About 20 minutes apart, with nothing that I coudl see going on with the server, I had multiple services fail and restart.
How do I trouble shoot this to see if there is a problem?
At 6:21 The following services failed:
httpd
lfd

cpsrvd

and I received emailed messages similar to these (obviously the port and service name were didfferent in each email).
cpsrvd failed @ Sat Nov 15 06:21:29 2008. A restart was attempted automagically.
Failure Reason: Unable to connect to port 2086

For one of my server based on cpanel i want to disable all email services/ send/receive etc. How do i go about it ?
Would Main >> Service Configuration >> Service Manager be the best place and disable the following services :
antirelayd
POP before SMTP daemon
exim
SMTP Server
imap
IMAP Server
pop
POP3 Server
spamd
SpamAssasin Server (if you choose to disable this, you should disable SpamAssasin in tweak settings as well)
Would that be enough to stop any emails from going out of server? Say via any contact form or any other way?
Please advice or i need to do it mannually via ssh and disable them.
I have SIM installed, so would i need to configure or remove something out of it too?
We have a VPS Server from one of the most reputable VPS Provider. We have 384 Guaranteed RAM and 1GB Burst. We have Dual Core AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 265 - 1795.503 MHz with 1024 KB cached allocated to our VPS.
It is only hosting 2 average forums (10-15 concurrent users in total) and 30 small websites, low traffic websites.
The problem we are having is, almost 3 times a week, the cPanel, named and apache services keeps stopping. I am monitoring our server when this is happen and prior to the event its only using about 300MB RAM and low CPU..
What could be causing this problem? Do I need to upgrade our RAM?
i want to change my cpanel ip ( Lisence cpanel )

how can i change cpanel ip from ssh ?
I have a client on a dedicated IP, today we needed to downgrade the web hosting plan. As the web hosting plan puts users on a default shared IP, this plan change also changed the dedicated IP to the shared one causing some propagation issues for a small period of time.
I have contacted WHMCS about this asking if they had a way of changing the clients plan but keeping the IP address intact as this could lead to some very undesirable outcomes. They explained that it is not their fault and to contact Parallels.
I know I can change the plan directly in Plesk however by initiating the plan change via WHMCS, everything is automated.
Has anyone helped clients transition from one domain to another? Maybe dissolving a partnership or renaming their company... so a new domain name has been registered and a new website created.
2 Issues:
#1 Using .htaccess 301 redirect
We used the following command line in their old website's htaccess file
Redirect 301 / [url]
The goal was to get people try to visit any page of their old website (i.e. OldWebsite.com/contact.html) redirected to their new website (i.e. NewWebsite.com/contact.html). Isn't that supposed to change the address bar's URL, too? For some reason, I visit their old site and I seem to be redirected to their new website but the address bar still has their old domain name? Something is going on???
#2 Having their new company name for 2 years now. People can enter her new company name in Google, MSN or Yahoo. Her new company name appears in the search results but has the old domain name associated with it. We are trying to get rid of any reference to that old domain name? What's the easiest way to do this? So what people see in search engines is:
New Company
Short Meta Description
www.OldDomain.com
What steps did I miss in this transition?
What steps do I have to take on their old website/old web server to control it's appearance on search engines and make sure people get to the new website?
whether its able to change plesk8.3 cpanel username?
When analysing that cpanel i came to know that it is possible to change the password, samewhile its possible to change the username?
I searched the forum articles but couldn not find specifically what I wanted..
just learning with my dedicated server...
I want to change my cpanel password and ftp password but NOT change the msql server password. I tried to do it in WHM it also changes the database to my website and causes it to go down. (so I changed it back)
I tried to change it under: [URL to actual WHM removed] Password Modification in WHM but it changed the databse program as well.
Again all I want to change is the Cpanel acces and main FTP pass
Im doing this to keep old programmers out of my server)
