Changing User/group Disk Quota In LXadmin & CentOS4
Aug 7, 2007LXadmin seem to have a preset disk quota limit to users/groups, even root!
So, how do I change these disk quota limits? There isn't an option in the LXadmin control panel either.

Disk Quota Not Working For User Accounts
May 5, 2009I am having Virtuozzo vps with cpanel/WHM installed.I have created some accounts in it by setting disk quota . Now the issue is : some users are using space over the allocted one ,when i use the command quota -u (username),i can see that the users are used the space over the allocated one and they are still allowed to upload file . How to fix this issue ?

Apr 1, 2008I have just restored an account to my directadmin box and it appears to have restored with the wrong owner / group.
Easy I thought, a quick 'chmod secure.secure -R *' should crack that but how wrong was I.
After running that I get the error: chown: invalid option -- o
Now - both the user and the group exist, so why won't the files change owner and group?
Running LXAdmin Using 100% Of Quota For Disk_usage
Nov 2, 2008Im having a bit of a problematic dilemma with one of my VPS providers.
I am running LXAdmin and every morning I get email alerts saying the following:
Warning: The Account chrisc is using 100% of quota for disk_usage.
Limit: 20000
Used: 20000
Warning: The Account chrisc is using 100% of quota for memory_usage.
Limit: 512
Used: 512
Warning: The Account chrisc is using 100% of quota for guarmem_usage.
Limit: 512
Used: 512
Each time I have been told a user has used up all the server resources when they shouldn't have been allowed to..
Also I have been trying to configure my Thunderbird mail client to send and receive emails but I keep on getting password errors, webmail works fine but I just cant access the mail servers from my Thunderbird client. I have been told this is a problem with LXAdmin - I don't know whether this is the case or not but was advised the only way to get around this issue is to upgrade to cPanel and that will solve the problem, whilst I believe this to possibly be true I am a little concerned about this company.
Having spoken with another VPS seller about this they believe these VPS accounts are being oversold as I am only paying $6.36 per month for 20GB Disk Space and 200GB Bandwidth with 512MB Ram.
Which User Group
Aug 27, 2007I'm making an account for my friend, and I just want him to have access to /var/www/hishomedirectory/
I want him to be able to do anything in that directory (rename files, delete, copy, move, upload, etc..), but not able to use apt-get or play with settings. Not a superuser either.

Upgrading To VPS - User And Group Permissions
Jul 23, 2009I've finally made the leap to upgrading from shared hosting to a VPS. I'm still setting up my configuration before I point the domain name to my new server, but for now, I have the site mirrored and I'm ensuring that all is running well. For the most part, everything is working, but I am running into a few permission issues...
As of right now, all the files in my htdocs directory are owned by root, and I am logging into my FTP client as root. However, I'm pretty sure that this is not how I should be doing this, because I need to allow write permissions to some folders from my php scripts.
I was just curious, how do you you guys set up the users and groups on your linux servers (running apache). I'm just not certain of the best way to handle it. Should I make a new FTP user, and if so, what group should it go in? Should that user be the owner of all the web files? When is it safe to set folder permissions to 777?
Why Should Us Change The User/group Of Apache
Jul 27, 2008APache is running under the "nobody" user/group as default in CPanel servers
as a suggestion I should change it to another user/group to improve security!
But in CPanel servers its hard to do that because you must edit some scripts and files to prevent the backing to nobody when running some scripts such

or when create a new account
Some sites says "the secret of changing the user/group is in the UID/GID of nobody < 100 !"
so I found a solution :
1 - delete the user/goup nobody
2 - recreate it with GID/UID > 30000
3 - run /scripts/chownpublichtmls
so the question is that solution improve security or i should change the user/group to another one! like "www"?
Setting Disk Quota In VPS
Jul 8, 2008I'm running a VPS, it sounds weird but its more like a learning lab I bought to help me get better skills in linux environment, so far I've learned a bit more in BIND and apache.
I use the panel webmin, I tried setting a mount but it didn't work.
The mounted devices output this:
simfs on / type simfs (rw)
tmpfs on /lib/init/rw type tmpfs (rw,nosuid)
proc on /proc type proc (rw,nosuid,nodev,noexec)
sysfs on /sys type sysfs (rw,nosuid,nodev,noexec)
tmpfs on /dev/shm type tmpfs (rw,nosuid,nodev)
devpts on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,nosuid,noexec)
Now, that struck me is that other VPSes that have CentOS with cpanel has their disk quota installed already. (That includes directadmin and lxadmin)
/tmp Disk Quota Exceeded But Not
May 7, 2008Has anyone ever run into this before? We are running into issues with one of our hosting servers, it claims that the /tmp folder has exceeded the disk quota but when you actually go to the /tmp folder it's not at all.
Here are the outputs:
# df -h

But it still gives a PHP error saying /tmp disk quota exceeded until I completely empty the folder and then it works for a few hours and does the same thing.

In the old server we received an email alert when quota is near 80% and 100%..
now (new server) we haven't received nothing and our isp say that is not possible ...?
we have whm and notifications check is all cehcked.

Can't Update WHM Account Disk Quota
May 19, 2009Using cPanel/WHM to administer Accounts.
I've been allocated additional disk space by my host, but can't seem to use it -- the existing (original) Account quota won't update.
I've tried changing the quota for the existing Package, as well as creating a new package with the desired quota and 'upgrading' the Account to the new Package, but the Account's quota remains the same.
It's as tho' the Account quota value is cached somewhere, and isn't getting refreshed.
Plesk 12 Permissions For Sites Using Apache For User And Group
Jan 6, 2015We have several sites on one server. When I use the plesk wordpress manager it some how updates the User and Group permissions on folders and files with the username apache. How or what command do I run to get it to use the site username and psacln. It appears something maybe in an update or whatever has caused this issue. This only occurs with wordpress and drupal updates from the plesk interface.
What command can I run just to update the permissions to update all users to a username and psacln security settings on folders and directories.Running Plesk 12.0.18 and CentOS7
VPS Disk Quota Status Keeps Increasing Every 2 Days
Aug 18, 2008I have had over 4 different VPS providers and in all of them, I was always using less than 5 gigs and most of it is from the OS and the VPS files, my website is less than 400 megs of size including the backups. For some reasons, my Disk Quota is at 8.3 gigs and it was at 8.2 gigs yesterday. My website's files are not that big and the Database is like 30 megs and the backups are compressed so they are like 4 megs. The problem is that I really don't know what files are making my Disk Quota to go up since I haven't uploaded anything or download files to my VPS.

Jul 17, 2008An automatic backup in plesk has filled up the disk space in my VPS. It seemed to crash first of all - couldn't access my website, then i tried to restart it. It wont restart and comes up with the error below.
As i can't get into plesk i don't know how to delete these old backup files, seem to be in a catch 22. Help

Disk Quota Issue - Locating The Folders With The Highest Number Of Files
Jun 6, 2008we've been having issues with reaching or exceeding our disk quotas. I've checked carefully, and while I've cleared our mail queue's, I don't think that's the issue.
So what I'm really looking for is a way to figure out why we have so many files (our quota is 220000, and I'm pretty confident that we aren't intentionally doing anything to create so many files). There's lots of information on finding the folders with the largest file sizes, but locating the folders with the greatest number of files isn't quite so simple--or at least, it doesn't seem very clear to me.
Does anyone know a way via the command line to figure out this information, short of going through every single folder and figuring out how many files are in the specific folder?
How To Set Up A User Ftp Account For LXadmin
Mar 21, 2008I got an unmanaged vps coming with Lxadimin. I can create the ftp properly.
All ftp accounts I made just point to the same directory that I could not modify to other folders.
I want a default general directory (such as ./www/ and something) where I upload the programs using ftp account. How to work it out?
another, is there any default ftp for administration on Lxadmin or vps. I triey differen password and name a lot of times to log on. but it doesn't work.

Feb 25, 2015I have a new CentOS 7, with Plesk 12, CentOS 7 by default has XFS filesystem.
I try migrate sites from another Plesk Server but Plesk agent say: "hard disk quota is not supported due to configuration of server file system" (my CentOS 7)
My CentOS7:
CentOS Linux 7.0.1406 64 bits
Plesk 12.0.36
My fstab
[root@ns ~]$ cat /etc/fstab
/dev/mapper/centos-root / xfs defaults,usrquota,grpquota 1 1
UUID=ba391bd5-786c-4ae7-8bbd-f36f831ae6eb /boot xfs defaults 1 2

I added "usrquota,grpquota", then mount -o remount / ; but when I try quotacheck -fmv / I gest this:
[root@ns ~]$ quotacheck -fmv /

quotacheck: Cannot find filesystem to check or filesystem not mounted with quota option.
but quotaon command works:
[root@ns ~]$ quotaon /

The problem here is why Plesk does not recognize quotas as enabled on CentOS 7??
If I try this command it seems good:
[root@ns ~]$ /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/usermng --isquotable
0
Also I do this:
- Disabled Selinux
- Check all packages as quota, etc.

Webmin Creating Folder/user With Space And Bandwidth Quota
Jun 14, 2008how can i create directories in my (public_html / htdocs folder) that have disk space and traffic quota?
i activated the disk quota to the native linux file system and i tried to create a user but i could not put this user in any folder in the public_html (i dont know how to do this) also there is no option to create bandwidth quota..
one more detail is that the folders need to be protected with login and password because people may try to enter this folders (e.g. www.mydomain.com/protectedfolder)
all this using webmin or another free good script.
