Changing Access_log Filename In Logrotate

Aug 4, 2008

how to rename access logs according to Week Number?

I notice that 1&1 do this, producing a file like "access.log.31.gz".
I'd like the access log to be in this format: access_log_[domain-name]_[Week-Number].gz, or if domain-name is not possible: access_log_[Week-Number].gz

Here's my current logrotate script for access_log:

Code:
/home/default/muro.co.uk/user/logfiles/access_log {
missingok
rotate 8
weekly
postrotate
/bin/kill -USR1 `cat /var/run/httpd.pid`
endscript
}

Apache File Access

May 30, 2007

I'm trying to set up Apache on CentOS 4. I'm using Apache 2.0 and it can't seem to access anything outside of the /var/www directory - it gives an Error 403.

I thought this would be down to SELinux but this is disabled. I've run the following command on the directory but with no luck:

Code:
chown apache /home/jmaskell -R

Apache Keeps Taking File Ownership

Apr 8, 2008

FreeBSD 7.0
Apache 2.2
PHP5
Mysql 5.1

I have been battling this for a while. A user will setup a CMS like joomla, e107, etc and every time the CMS changes files either with user interaction on the website or the admin changing things in their cms admin web page, apache takes ownership of the files.

I have tried installing suPHP, FastCGI, and most recently suexec. I am not having any luck with this. I really don't know what I am doing with these recent additions but meanly going on suggestions. Does anyone know of a walk through to fix this permission problem? Anyone with some good advise? Surely not everyone is having to write a script to chown each user's dir and run a cronjob every 5 minutes.

Apache :: 301 Redirect Without Creating File

Jul 16, 2013

We are redoing our website and we have removed / renamed a few old pages. I was wondering if I can do 301 redirect for removed / renamed pages without having to actually create them? To explain with an example:

On old website : www.domain.com/mypage.php
On new website: www.domain.com/mynewpage.php

I created a 301 redirect in .htaccess redirecting mypage.php to www.domain.com/mynewpage.php without physically creating "mypage.php" file. When I access "www.domain.com/mypage.php", I get a 404 page not found error. When I create a blank "mypage.php", the redirection works fine.

Is it possible to do a 301-redirect without having to create old files ?

Apache :: Allowing EXE File Download

Oct 3, 2013

We're running a departmental intranet site on Apache 2.2 (on Windows Server 2003, if that matters). I'm trying to figure out how to post exe files on the web site so I can create a link and users can download the programs.trying various changes to my httpd.conf file, but no matter what I tried I get a 403 Forbidden error and the error.log file shows an error "Options ExecCGI is off in this directory:...".

1) I've tried putting the EXE in various folders.
2) I don't have a .htaccess file and I don't see anything in the httpd.conf file that seems to specifically relate to access for this file type.
3) If I put a zip file in the same folders, I am able to download or open it.
4) The httpd.conf file should be whatever was created when we installed Apache.

Apache :: Write HTAccess File For A 301

Apr 15, 2013

I have learned some bits of regular expressions for simple scripting, writing a .htaccess file is, uh, syntaxically daunting.

THE CASE :

The URLs of my site used to be of the form [URL] ... . They are now of the form [URL]......

I am trying to perma-redirect (301) the old format (affiche_fiche.php) to the new format (fiche.php) using a .htaccess.

So far all I have achieved is a hatred of punctuation signs. What's the correct syntax to have a .htaccess that does the redirect ?

THE CONTEXT : The format change took place more than six months ago, but the Google Webmaster Tools still spits 450 problems a day with 404s on URLs using the old format. I had assumed that these would just fade away, but they don't. So I guess that 301'ing them is cleaner. Or would be, if I understood the syntax.

How To Disable Apache Generating Coredump File?

Jun 28, 2008

Recently I use suphp with fcgi on my cPanel Server. When I apply RLimitCPU for each vhost, I see that some scripts that potentially overloading the server is killed. I think this is a good way to control load on server.

But each time a php process killed, apache create a coredump files under users's directory that is large enough to fill user's space limit.

How to disable apache from creating core dump files?

I have try:

- set "ulimit -c 0" on users and root
- set "/proc/sys/fs/suid_dumpable" to 0
- set /etc/security/limits.conf with 0 limit for core parameter
- set CoreDumpDirectory to specific directory ...

Dear Customer,

I am sorry. We are not able to resolve the File Does Not Exist errors for you. You have to do it own.

The unique errors that you have today for Apache are as follows:

I would advise that you resolve as many of these errors as you are able.

As to what caused the load on your server, I can't say. There is nothing in your logs to indicate the source of the problem. During the 1PM period when your server overloaded last there were only 29 errors in Apache. The errors that occurred during this time would not cause excessive load.

I have installed a script to monitor your server. If this load issue occurs again within one week or before your next reboot, whichever comes first, we should be able to determine the source from the script's logs in /var/log/sys-snap.sh.

Apache :: HTTP File - Low Download Speed

Mar 29, 2013

The problem is that HTTP file download speed is nearly 10 times lower than FTP download speed. What could be limiting it? It's about 7Mb for FTP and 70-100Kb for HTTP. Strangely, download speed is OK when browsing from the server itself (e.g. via RDP)

Apache :: Setting Up Vhosts In Conf File

Mar 15, 2013

I work for a start up as well as do independent consulting. I had a friend set up my apache server initially for the start up. It's been running fine. Now I want to host a client's site on the same server. I tired just adding a vhost section at the bottom of the conf file, but it said that I was running two sites off the same port. I tried manipulating the stuff my buddy did for me for the first site, then putting two vhosts on the bottom, but that just didn't work.

Apache :: Multi VHost / Single File

Mar 20, 2015

I'm actually working on a project in wich one I use Zend Framework 2. In this project I have 4 websites. (this is require, I don't want to change it).

I have 1 Virtual Host for each website:

- com-mywebsite.com
- cp-mywebsite.com
- pos-mywebsite.com
- ap-mywebsite.com

Each Virtual Host redirect to the same folder and same file because everything is in the same project so same entry point (same index.php)

actually if I type each url in a browser, they all redirect to the same part of my project so I added some routes in ZF2 to access to one website and not another :

- com-mywebsite.com/com
- cp-mywebsite.com/cp
- pos-mywebsite.com/pos
- ap-mywebsite.com/ap

This is a quick and dirty fix because I also can access to the ap website with this url : com-mywebsite.com/ap

I'd like every website to be accessed from their root:

- com-mywebsite.com
- cp-mywebsite.com
- pos-mywebsite.com
- ap-mywebsite.com

And I don't want to display /something after it to access to the website even if after you can access to some other pages of each website.
