How to Remove Apache File Not Exist Errors
Here is the Reply of the Sys Admin
Dear Customer,
I am sorry. We are not able to resolve the File Does Not Exist errors for you. You have to do it own.
The unique errors that you have today for Apache are as follows:

I would advise that you resolve as many of these errors as you are able.
As to what caused the load on your server, I can't say. There is nothing in your logs to indicate the source of the problem. During the 1PM period when your server overloaded last there were only 29 errors in Apache. The errors that occurred during this time would not cause excessive load.
I have installed a script to monitor your server. If this load issue occurs again within one week or before your next reboot, whichever comes first, we should be able to determine the source from the script's logs in /var/log/sys-snap.sh.

I am using single Apache HTTP Server (2.2.23) as a Load Balancer with two IBM Websphere application server nodes (other machines). I have deployed the simple text based helloWorld application and it works fine with load balancer. But When I deploy the real application that contains images, css file , java script file. It loads the page without images and show me simple text and gives me the following Exception on error_logs and similar kind of exceptions
[error] [client 192.217.71.77] File does not exist: /usr/local/apache2/htdocs/application, referer: http://192.168.141.17/application/faces/test.jsp
Interestingly, when I access the application without load balancer, it also works fine.
Here are the load balancer settings

I've just had my server transfered and many files were missing. So, now I have a 100 Mb error_log file...
What should I do ?
If I rename it, I suppose the server will create a new one and it will be ok ?
How can I fix a size limit to the error_log files ?
I'm using Centos 5 + CPanel.

is there a low end server just designed for receiving and sending large audio and media files?
like CPU should be minimal, as long as it can send and receive large files to and from a main server which has apache + php + mysql running in it...
would this be cost effective?

I have moved my sites from old server with Apache 1.3 to new one with Apache 2.2.4. Since that time, the error log is full of these lines:
Code:
[Wed Jul 04 05:36:32 2007] [error] [client 212.47.9.194] File does not exist: /home/domain/public_html/russia
[Wed Jul 04 05:36:39 2007] [error] [client 212.47.9.194] File does not exist: /home/domain/public_html/russia
[Wed Jul 04 05:36:45 2007] [error] [client 213.192.18.2] File does not exist: /home/domain/public_html/italy
[Wed Jul 04 05:36:57 2007] [error] [client 83.8.104.181] File does not exist: /home/domain/public_html/mexico
The access logs show even more accesses, so sometimes the same page is ok, sometimes it is logged here. The strange thing is that these files (pages) exist! They are accessible through the browser without any problem.
Do you have any idea where could be the problem? It would helped me lot, I am unable to find any real problem now, when error log is full of these.
My OS is Ubuntu 6.06. I use mod_rewrite through .htaccess. I can provide list of apache modules, if it helps.

We used to be on a reseller acct (RedHat Enterprise, Apache 1.x, PHP4, cPanel 10) that would generate error_log files under the directory of the error(s). This was done without any special scripts under those directories or anything, it just did it.
Googling it, it appears that Apache did this by default but apparently it doesn't anymore.
With CentOS 5, Apache 2.2.x, PHP5 and cPanel 11 I can't figure out how to enable these error logs. I've Googled my brains out, been through the php.ini and httpd.conf and nada, nothing. The errors show up in the cPanel error logs but it's much easier and quicker when it generates the log file in the offending directory.
I rely heavily on these log files.

In /usr/local/apache/logs/error_log there are hundreds of these lines:
Quote:
mod_security: Filtering against POST payload requested but payload is not available [hostname "www.somedomain.com"]
This is a result of:
Code:
SecFilterScanPOST Off
Is there a way to exclude that line being logged in error_log file? If I turn it ON, those errors won't show up in error_log anymore, however, it'll break some scripts on my server. I prefer to leave it OFF.

When I was a customer at hostgator, whenever a terminating error within php was displayed it would log in the parent directory in a file called "error_log".
I want this to happen now on our dedicated server. I've looked at my local apache error log and it doesn't appear to show the same info as hostgator's setup showed.
Can anyone tell me how to set that up?

Lately our VPS has needed to be restarted frequently (1-2x daily for the past 5 or so days).
I have pulled our eror_log file and pasted below the last several days. I am hoping someone can take a look at it and point me in the right direction.

I'm trying to set up Apache on CentOS 4. I'm using Apache 2.0 and it can't seem to access anything outside of the /var/www directory - it gives an Error 403.
I thought this would be down to SELinux but this is disabled. I've run the following command on the directory but with no luck:
Code:
chown apache /home/jmaskell -R

FreeBSD 7.0
Apache 2.2
PHP5
Mysql 5.1
I have been battling this for a while. A user will setup a CMS like joomla, e107, etc and every time the CMS changes files either with user interaction on the website or the admin changing things in their cms admin web page, apache takes ownership of the files.
I have tried installing suPHP, FastCGI, and most recently suexec. I am not having any luck with this. I really don't know what I am doing with these recent additions but meanly going on suggestions. Does anyone know of a walk through to fix this permission problem? Anyone with some good advise? Surely not everyone is having to write a script to chown each user's dir and run a cronjob every 5 minutes.

We are redoing our website and we have removed / renamed a few old pages. I was wondering if I can do 301 redirect for removed / renamed pages without having to actually create them? To explain with an example:
On old website : www.domain.com/mypage.php
On new website: www.domain.com/mynewpage.php
I created a 301 redirect in .htaccess redirecting mypage.php to www.domain.com/mynewpage.php without physically creating "mypage.php" file. When I access "www.domain.com/mypage.php", I get a 404 page not found error. When I create a blank "mypage.php", the redirection works fine.
Is it possible to do a 301-redirect without having to create old files ?

I'd like to change /comp.php to /comp but I have only found articles on how to remove .php completely and I don't want to do that, only want to do it for this one file.

Apache 2.2.22...I have apache installed on a raspberrypi computer running Debian for an ARM processor. There is no screen attached to this computer so configuration is by ssh or webmin.
Is there any log monitoring program that can view apache's log file via a network. At the moment I have to copy it from my raspberrypi to my laptop then read it.
