A couple of directories on the website need authentication against LDAP. The setup has been working for many years and all of a sudden is giving some issues.
The page asks for authentication and once login details are entered, either it throws an error "Page has moved" or "Please refresh your browser or reload the page".
As far as I am aware no configuration has been changed for LDAP or for Apache. The website runs on Windows Server 2003.
I am very much new to Apache and cannot seem to find any errors logged.
how can i hide all files and directories in public_html so when using apps suck Flash Get Site Explorere and similar software it will not show any file or directories in public_html.

Migrating existing IIS websites into Plesk we are creating new clean websites and then copying the existing code across into the httpdocs directory.
Should we leave all the documents and file structures created by Plesk in place when we do this OR should we delete everything in the httpdocs directory and copy our code into here?
I have moved the server and server accounts are now in the new server but my websites files are in /restore/home and the databases are in /restore/var/lib/mysql
I am little confused and looking for someone's guidance on tarballing the whole files with database of each accounts and to be restored in my new server through WHM. Can anyone show me the right path to do this?
I am redoing a website that is currently being hosted by some shady company that is completely unreachable. I have the ftp server info and password, and I am trying to get on using FileZilla, however there must be something incorrect because it is not letting me access the site.
Is there anyway I can host this website using the same current domain, even though it is already being hosted by this other horrible company? The person I am doing the site for has been trying to contact the company for months to cancel hosting, but they are not responding.
For example, if the company was company.com, and I have created a new site for them which I have on my own webserver, how do I access company.com so that the website I made will now be at that domain?
When you buy a website you have to transfer it's files to your host.how can i do that?

/domains/mydomain.com/public_html/
But i can't browse it using ssh so i can't import it
I want to copy whole directories about 20gb to another server across the world.
If I type "mput *" it will say "not a plain file" for directories.
How do you move an entire site, I don't want to achive and move because it is big.
Well I finally got around to getting my IIS up and running which will save some time with uploading various files to check that they are working correctly but now I have run into a new problem. What used to happen with my IIS is it would list out all of the folders which I had in the wwwroot and I would simply navigate through and select which site needed to be tested.
At the moment, I have cleared out the wwwroot folder entirely since all of the stuff in there was to do with a "Windows XP Professional" page which appeared upon installation.
However, now that I don't need it anymore, I decided to clear it out and test IIS out by making a new folder called "sites" into wwwroot. Now though, it simply comes up with a "Directory Listing Denied. This Virtual Directory does not allow contents to be listed." error message, even though I have changed the permissions on the wwwroot folder to allow writing etc.
Could this be because it's IIS 5.1 and I need to install IIS 6.0 instead or is something else wrong? I know for a fact that my operating system (Windows Media Center Edition 2005) will do this list as I have had it before, back before I installed Vista and then decided to come back to MCE.
For some reason, I want to enable directory browsing for some of my sites. It works for sub folders, but apache won't list for root folder. For example
I put .htaccess in the root folder, I also configure it through VirtualHost or Directory in httpd.conf,
I use Options +Indexes
Does any body know how can I enable directory listing even in the root folder of a web site?
I am the owner of a VPS, where i host a website.
However this website suddenly was returning 404 nginx errors (on certain files), however these files do exist.
If i try to access a file that doesnt exist it gives me a regular 404 browser error (not nginx).
During loading of one these files i also noticed it was loading openadserving.com
So i think my server has been infected.
For example this is a logo image: [URL] ....
I need a command way of backing up my website files and Mysql databases. I no longer have access to the static ip to access the panel.

View 8 Replies View Relatedwhat webpages we can view using proxies at the ISPs.
Currently when I am on the internet port 80 will sometimes not work, i.e. MSN, email, FTP is still working, but I can't browse any pages. This has led me to believe that the proxies they are using to check what sites we are visiting are buggered. It is fruitless trying to get the ISPs to improve...
Anyway, I have a couple of my own servers in the US and am looking at installing some sort of socks proxy on them so that I don't have to use port 80 to surf webpages. Then there wouldn't be any more downtime for me.
SECURE program that would be ideal and safe for my intended use?

It seems that since my latest update of 12.0.18. Now everytime I login to the Admin interface of plesk. I am prompted to relogin several times when browsing using file manager or clicking on domains or sitting idle for like 15 seconds.
It can do this up to 5 times in a 5 minute period or while not even being idle.
I have come across some stuff on the internet that has a file structure looking like this:
/~root/guests
/~operator/a
What does the ~ stand for? Is it something to do with a linux directory structure?
Which of those directories: usr and var are allowed to rename for a moment and mount their content on a new HD so that SSH and server will not stop work?

View 10 Replies View RelatedSo one of my hypervm servers, got a lot of corrupt binaries in the operating system, CentOS.
My datacenter has plugged in an external hard drive so I can backup my files there so the DC can reformat the server.
I know that I will need to copy: /vz and /home and /etc
But.. the one important thing is the hypervm MySQL database! What do I have to backup? /var/lib/mysql ? any other directories?
And how would I restore that MySQL to the new server, when hypervm is installed and the server is formatted?
I will be installing hypervm on the server again when it's done formatting.
I know that hypervm has exploits, so I am going to stop hypervm once I get the server up and running back on its feet. And then switch to VZWave when the production version comes out.
I am working on a website which is planned to have many articles, each with their own directory [url].
I would like the website to be as automated as possible in terms of adding new content and the like.
After a little bit of research, I learned about Apache's ErrorDocument directive, and IIS's equivalent.
What I had in mind was that users would type in the URL they wanted (such as [url], and the server would not be able to find this directory and would try to return a 404.
The file I would tell the server to use for 404 messages, would be a PHP file. It would read what the URL was (to find out what the user wants to look at), convert the data from the URL into the same format as details of articles held in my database, and the script would then check to see if there were any articles available which matched what the user was looking for.
My understanding is that if an article exists, I will be able to extract the article information from the database, and present this as the web page while manually sending a HTTP 200 response. If the article did not exist, a standard 404 page could be offered.
My questions are:Is my understanding of the process here correct?
Is the process and procedure that I want to follow correct? Does it have any flaws?
Other than how to tell the server about the custom ErrorDocument PHP script, is there anything which differs the process between Apache and IIS?
Assuming that the above works for typical users, would it work properly for search engines as well?
There is no directory for the root account on my server. The server admin tells me this:
"It looks like all the files in there were deleted. I suggest you terminate and recreate the site in order to reset all the relevant directories."
Can any one tell me the ssh command that will do this for me?
Clients home directories keep randomly being deleted. The accounts aren't terminated, just the home directories.
I've changed root pass etc, any other ideas what could be causing this?
Whenever i try to connect to ftp through any of my server account then its not showing any directory inside public_html but when i use cpanel file manager then its working fine i also tried to used differect ftp client program but still problem not solve will any of you help me? ftp successfully connected but not showing files and folders .
