View 11 Replieswe have about 10 servers in iweb.ca , iweb is good but account managers support are very poor ! for example when I need to upgrade my server I should contact my account manager and my account manager answer to my email after 2 weeks ! (if he answer)so I want to transfer my servers to another company ,
what's your suggestions ?
most of our servers are Linux.
P.S : we are Iranian
My boss has recently asked me to source a new host for our servers. At the moment we're running 8 Windows boxes but are unhappy with the service we're receiving from our hosting company. We are looking for a managed hosting company, that has offices in the UK and US to look after the servers.
At the moment we haven't nailed down our exact requirements so I'm just really looking for any recommendations you guys might have. I've done a wee bit of Googling and have found a company called Rackspace but I'm ideally looking to contact around 5 companies to see who can offer us the best deal.
I'm looking for a dedicated hosting server to store more than 800GB in video. This video will not be played back, this place is just to store and where people can download.
As far as I can tell my only solutions is dedicated, but if anyone can offer me a better solution please let me know. Before I had this videos on different servers but the company does not allow me to keep them for storage.
I need to know the top 3 hosting companies in the US, and why you like them.
I like aplus.net but after doing some research I found out that this company is a nightmare.
Please, I need help really fast! Thank you all in advanced for your suggestions.
I’m not sure this I the right place to post this, but since I’ll need also a dedicated server I guess it is (I’m sorry if it’s not).
Hi to you all.
I’m developing my own site. This will be my very first time building and managing a site, so I’m for sure a noob on this type of stuff (but I have a good general knowledge on computers (I build my own computers and solve every problem I encounter)).
The site will be managed by joomla 1.5 plus a phpbb3 forum (maybe vbulleting in the future). Obviously when my site is completed and published on the net I’ll have zero members, but I hope to see this number increase (lol…from 0 members it isn’t a hard thing to accomplish…I guess ).
Having a really low number of members and visitors I think that I’ll start from a shared hosting plan (or VPS) and then go up to a dedicated server (when I’ll need it…I hope soon )….probably a managed dedicated server since I don’t know much of the technicalities needed to manage a dedicated server.
This being said, I would prefer to go for a good hosting company (cheap…but reliable) that has both shared and dedicated hosting plans so when I’ll have to upgrade (from shared/VPS to dedicated) everything will be smoothly managed by them.
The site/forum aims to have a large community, a good n° of hosted files (images and mp3’s (recorded voice) ---> everything legal!)
What hosting company would you suggest?
Is it possible to have the site on one server and the forum on another? (considering that the forum will be integrated in the joomls CMS with a bridge).
I am interested as I am sure others are as well in the results. Please also list things you want to see providers that they are missing the boat on now. Please dont mention specific providers and make this a bash session. I think this type of dialoge will benefit all the providers out there.
This was supposed to have a poll but my laptop died before I could post the poll questions
What is most important to you in a dedicated hosting company?
#1 Price
#2 Support
#3 Network
#4 Client User interface
I am wondering what grace period after the due date your dedicated server provider offers you before suspending your server.
Please let me know how many days before the due date your provider sends out your invoices , and after late how many days before they suspend your dedicated server. We are looking to amend our policy on the matter and would like to hear what others in the industry are doing.
i just want to know hosting company any hosting company can offer free dedicated IP?
View 19 Replies View RelatedI am not very professional in hosting but i am using shared hosting from about an year.
i came here to know what is running behind my share hosting or any share hosting and also please tell me what is dedicated server requirement, i mean what hardware, software and connection needed to make a dedicated server?
have built quite a library of music now. It would be great if I could upload music to my hosting account, and then just access it from my phone. Would that be allowed so long as I did not share this music with others? Where might I be able to set this up? I checked with hostgator and they said it was not okay.
View 9 Replies View RelatedHi, Guys can you pls recommend me some reputable companies who are offering reseller discounts for selling dedicated servers.
View 6 Replies View Relatedi want to buy a new dedicated server. because im tired move from one dedicated to others dedicated.
View 7 Replies View Related1) What is the biggest dedicated server company ( who have more domain on their dedicated hostings?
2) What is the best dedicated server according to their offers. I need a company that offer incredable performance server like 8X quadcore etc. and they should offer rack service + server sale.
I'm with burstnet and they're pretty good, however I do have some downtime and that's really my main issue. I need my sites to be online 24/7, or as close to that as possible.
I have a budget of around $80 per month, which isn't much, but I don't need any top of the range server, I'd love to go with singlehop, they look amazing, but their pricing is out of my range.
Can anybody recommend any good companies, with good uptime and a reasonable support team? It would be brilliant if they had some sort of remote reboot facility, as waiting for the company support team to reboot can be a pain...
I don't need much, the server is just to host my person websites, project ideas etc. I need around 1TB bandwidth, 100GB diskspace maybe... I could probably manage on shared hosting right now, however I need the freedom of my own dedicated. I've had a bad experience with VPSs before, so they're out of the question.
I've searched, but burst seems to be my only option, which is disappointing.
Requirements:
<$80 P/M
~100GB Disk space
~1TB bandwidth
~10 IPs.
No control panel, I can manage that myself
actually I have my dedicated server with ThePlanet since many years ago, where I'm really happy, but due to recent spanish laws, I need to move everything to a european dedicated server as ThePlanet isn't certificated at the "Safe Harbor directive".

This is what I actually have:
2x1024 MB DDR 266 ECC
1 Dell 1600SC Dual Xeon MB DAT54AMB8C2
2 Intel P4 Xeon 2.8 GHz 533FSB (4x2.8)
2500Gb Bandwidth
Linux+Cpanel

What I'm looking for, is a serius company (no reseller company) with similar dedicated servers configurations. What I'm looking for is also a 1Gbps uplink connection. Bandwith is not so important, as my monthly bandwidth is only about 300Gb.
I've seen very fast (connection) servers in Netherland but don't know how serious they are.
OVH (apparently) looks also fine, but I've read very bad reviews about them.
Seeking to colocate several servers along with an FC based SAN with virtualized software, elsewhere Mysql clustering & combo master/slave setups and require a company you maybe able to suggest that could possibly be our SysAdmins, support & maintain the setup.
Additionally they will need to config sw load balancers & firewalls e.g ipcop
We have 2 servers which run our website. One for data (about 50gb) and one for databases (about 5gb)
We currently perform offsite backups but we want to improve upon these. Our main objectives are:
1) Be able to recover as much info as possible in the event of a disaster
2) Be able to rollback to a previous version should we not notice a problem until later (ie 30 day history?)
3) Be able to restore as quickly as possible
4) Be able to afford it!
The options we seem to have are:
A) Use a service such as backupdirect.net which specialise in offsite backup and have specialised software to handle this. Obviously we get support, the backups are encrypted, etc and probably will end up with a much more robust backup solution.
However, it will take time to restore, if our server goes down we still have to get that working then perform the restore
B) Buy another dedicated server, which we can run everything on (albeit slowly!) and keep a 'live backup' on this server. This means we could switch to it should our main servers die for any reason with minimal downtime. Downsites would mean we have less support, would have to be careful with encryption of the data flowing from one server to another and we would have a less formal backup solution (eg harder to restore back to a point in time)
As you can see I have questions. Until I saw and read some posts on this forum I thought I had some answers...
I was looking into a VPS with 1and1.com
Seemed to have good stats, and is a fairly large company. The plans were nice, was going to start off on their VPS 2 package with 20GB/2000GB, 245MB ram burstable to 512MB. All was well, since their packages seemed to offer the most for the least, if you know what I mean. I also liked the ability to upgrade the package without interrupting my service.
I read some posts here, and looked into a VPS even more, and now Im not so sure about 1and1.com or the thought of even having a VPS.
I have no experience with a VPS. So running it would be all new. Im not computer illiterate and I have taken many network and network operating classes. So I have some experience with command line linux. I have messed with some IIS, and a LAMP. On the other side, it scares me that I could f**k something up and bring down the site.
Now, for my needs. The site when launched has a predicted demand of a few thousand users over the course of a month. This is a business site, so downtime, and a shared environment don't seem to make sense. The site is very mysql intensive, at least by my standards. Most pages have 3-6 queries, main pages can have 10+, and most user actions include a few queries. The most load I could fathom would be all 1,000-4,000 users hitting the site hard for 3-4 days. This is now, next 'season' could be twice that load. In between seasons seasons we were going back to shared until the site starts making more money, and we fill in the off season with some other money making service.
The reason why I thought VPS was budget, and just we wouldnt want to be on a shared hosting plan, and somehow our demand was larger than expected and they shut down the site. So do yall think that a VPS is the right way to go? We have the budget to go VPS($40-$80) a month for 3 months, before going back to shared.
About 1and1.com: I read a few threads, some recent, that seem to say they oversell even a VPS. This doesnt make much sense since its supposed to gaurente those resources to me. The company is so big, but even these few posts and accusations are keeping me from commiting. My main concern is that between when we launch it and when our first spike of demand hits is only 2 months, so I dont want to learn that 1and1.com sucks firsthand.
Ive seen other hosts that this forum sponsers, so I assume there is *some* prefernce to use them, but like jaguarpc.com VPS plans seem to be a little more $ for a little less (storage and bandwidth) when comparing to other deals.
I use shared web hosting service to get my website online. I'm wondering how many people use dedicated servers or virtual private servers instead and pay from $20 to several hundreds of dollars? Will I face any big problem with shared web hosting package which makes me choose dedicated servers?
View 14 Replies View Relatedif i want to make image hosting such as allyoucanupload or imageshack , where hosting should i go to,... i was with hostgator and they suspended me for it.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI own two large hacking // gaming sites and host a few others. I need a company that can offer fully managed, secure, ddos protected, fast dedicated servers.
A big thing with me is if someone sends my hosting company a message saying, HEY your server is hosting hacks or illegal material, the company wont just go OH OK and shut down the server.
I'm planning to launch an e-commerce website for photo and gift printing. I went on Google and found a few websites having Top 10 web hosting companies information. I am really confuse which one is the best for my website.
I'm not sure how many users and traffic the website will get and don't want to pay extra $$$s for VPS or dedicated servers
I was wondering if you guys would recommend a hosting company to use a VPS? I am a web designer and as a side job i am thinking of selling reseller accounts for very cheap prices. I am mainly concerned mainly because of the RAM most VPS have . I mean is 248 and 512 mb really ok? Also , anyone have an insight on "burst ram"? What does this mean?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI will be starting up a new hosting company that will offer free and paid hosting. My question is, should I start out with a reseller, and move on as needed? I was simply thinking of starting out with a VPS, so I could simply skip the reseller part. I read elsewhere that some simply get a reseller and get another reseller when they need it.
What path should I choose. I could always get a VPS later on, but why not get one now? This is one reason I ask, because since reading about the reseller post, I am now split on this.
To note, have used a reseller before, but not a VPS. I do want to eventually learn to run a VPS, so this could be the time to do so.
I recently made a purchase of a really busy website and I need about 1024 Guaranteed Ram 20Gb+ disk space and 1000gb bandwidth VPS.
Please make some suggestions based on:
1- Customer/Technical Support
2- Pricing
3- Their ability to maintain a good service at all times.
I have tried Hostgator, Netfirms, UbiquityHosting, doesn't seem to allow to execute Rebol in cgi-bin
View 12 Replies View RelatedI've read articles that said it's generally bad to use the domain registrar as the hosting company(forgot the reason though)Right now I have some domains in Goddady and 1and1, and have a Hostgator account. I am thinking about just using Goddady's hosting service so I only need to manage my Goddady and 1and1 accounts instead of managing 3 accounts.
I am going to use Wordpress.org to build the sites
I have recently built my first database application.I used SQL Server 2005 Express edition because it is free. The drawback is that it can only hold 4GB of data. But the database is also compatible with any SQL Server edition.
I'm wondering what my options are - a lot of hosting companies seem to offer a greater storage capacity and then limit the actual size of the SQl database. i.e. 10GB of online diskspace with a 600MB SQL database.
I have a dilemma now as I don't know which company is better to use for my needs- allwebnow.com or webhostgiant.com.
I want to use shared hosting.
I am in the process of creating a site for my family, which is spread out around the world. I am using Joomla and have built my site on Siteground as my host.
My site will have low traffic, for family only, but I want my family to be able to post pictures, chat and blog.
I am very happy with Siteground but it has come to my attention that even though they offer 750gb of space I can only have up to 5gb of picture files (gif, jpg, etc.) I feel that I will eventually exceed this and being new at the whole site creation, I do not want to risk data being lost (database, files, etc.) when the time comes to transfer to a new host.
The site is not active yet as I am still working out the kinks and adding more pages. I figure if I am going to make a move to another host now would be the best time.
So I guess the question I have is what hosts, in your opinions, would be the best for the site I explained and still be able to work in Joomla.
can any one recommend me a uk hosting company.
