Apache :: White Pages For Enabled Site And Localhost

Jan 7, 2015

I'm using Oracle's VirtualBox.My network on the virtual box is set to Bridged Adapter

apache/2.4.7
php 5.5.9
Linux/Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS
No errors in my apache2 error.log file.

First time creating a server on a virtual box. I am not confident i understand how my computer browser access the virtual box server i created. Once i understand that i could fix my issue. Which is, I can't finding my enabled site or localhost via my browser on my computer. All i get is a white page for both. I don't even see the it works page.

I am following this book and got stuck on chapter 1: Understanding and Setting Up Our Development Environment.
link to book -- URL...

I have installed Oracle's VirtualBox, mounted Ubuntu, installed apache2 with $ sudo apt-get install apache2 -y. At this point everyone says, now go to your ip and you will see "It Works". Which i do not see. I see a white page with nothing on it. I then looked to see if the localhost /var/www/html/ index. html even exists. Which is does, i opened the file and i can see the line "It Works!".

My hosts file on my computer has ../driver/etc/hosts

127.0.0.1 localhost
192.168.56.1 magento.localhost.com

My hosts file on my Virtual box /etc/hosts

127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.1.1unbuntu
192.168.56.1 magento.localhost.com

Site Hosted, But Email On Dynamic Ip

Sep 19, 2008

Currently I have my site hosted on a box at home, and using JIP to autoupdate the dynamic ip through zoneedit.

What am I am looking to do is to move my site to a hosted company, and keep my exhange server at home, having the dynamic ip updated through zoneedit, or other.

I have been poking around in zoneedit, and searching the web, but don't seem to be able to work it all out. (the autoupdater, JIP, wants to change the site ip at the same time)

Apache :: Connecting To Website Gives White Screen

Mar 14, 2015

So, let me start off by saying I am completely new to website and FTP server hosting. I've hosted game servers in the past so I know about port forwarding and the like but this is obviously a step-up. I've managed to get a fully-functioning FTP server that works great on the domain I'm using but the website using Apache just gives people a blank white screen (as stated in the description). I'm using port 55567 for the website as I don't know want to use 80 because of security risks and what not. The domain being used is delawaretexasrepository.t28.net. Below are the error.log, httpd.conf and httpd-vhosts.conf.

httpd-vhosts.conf: [URL] ....

httpd.conf: [URL] ....

error.log: [URL] ....

Apache :: Dynamic URL Not Rewriting

Jul 10, 2013

For some reason I have some old urls which just don't want to rewrite. I have lots of others working fine but I think it may be to do with the symbols in these paths which are stopping it from working. Ideally these should be 301'd.

I need view.asp?filter=category%20name to go to category-name

Ubuntu + Apache 2.0 + PHP 5.2.1 - Cannot Use Dynamic Extensions (e.g. Pdo.so)

Mar 6, 2007

I'm trying to compile PHP 5.2.1 on my Ubuntu 6.10 server. I've downloaded the source code from php.net and am running the following configure command on it:

Code:
./configure --with-apxs2=/usr/bin/apxs2 --with-mysql --with-informix=/opt/informix --enable-shared --enable-pdo=shared --without-sqlite --without-pdo-sqlite --with-pdo-mysql=shared --with-zlib --with-xml --with-pdo-informix=shared,/opt/informix
After doing this, then make, I copy over the generated libphp5.so file into my Apache extensions directory, add extension=pdo.so (and lines for the PDO-MySQL/Informix extensions) into my php.ini and restart Apache. I would expect to see PDO, PDO-MySQL and PDO-Informix listed in my phpinfo() - but they don't appear.

So, I tried recompiling PHP but without any of the PDO extensions being shared. This worked, and I could see PDO and PDO-MySQL in phpinfo(), but not PDO-Informix.

So, can anyone hazard a guess as to why none of the PDO extensions load when compiled shared? I don't get any related error messages in the Apache or System logs by the way....

Apache Standalone With Adobe HTTP Dynamic Streaming

Mar 1, 2013

I have been trying to install apache server on a windows pc which will deliver adobe HDS content. there is a specific tutorial for this in the adobe site, can be found here. I have been following it to the word, but when I try to start apache after asking it to load new modules (mod_f4fhttp), it returns me an error saying that the file is not readable/not found. I have installed the proper visual c++ libraries and also checked the permissions and spellings. This seems to be a common error with php modules in apache, but none of the solutions seems to work.

Apache :: Setup Dynamic Content Configuration - Correct Headers

Aug 28, 2014

I am trying to setup dynamic content configuration in apache 2.2 httpd conf. Here is the configuration and couple test cases:

CONF:
<FilesMatch ".(js|css|gif|jpg|jpeg|png)$">
Header set Cache-Control "no-cache, no-store, max-age=0, must-revalidate"
</FilesMatch>

TEST 1:
Without <FilesMatch> directive, the headers are set to all requested content as it should. This includes content served from apache server and content from a separate application server.

TEST 2:
If I use the above configuration example, I can see that static content comes with correct headers only

HostGator Vrs. The Planet - Isn't That The Same Product With A Different Label?

Feb 21, 2008

I'm not in the market to lease a dedicated server right now, but just out of curriousity, what is the difference between renting one from HostGator, or from The Planet (who I believe HostGator gets their servers from).

Wouldn't that be the same product with 2 different labels on it?

Also, I saw on HostGators website: "We have over 150 employees to provide you around-the-clock superior support." So do they have their employees at The Planets facility, or are they refering to The Planets employees who support their customers, or how does this whole deal work?

My thinking has always been, whenever possible, go directly to the SOURCE, to get the best deals. Is this not the case?

White Labelled Vps Not White Labelled

Jun 12, 2008

We have a VPS with Eukhost, most things are good - decent price etc, but a lookup on the IP of the servers, a revers dns lookup etc all points to Eukhost - which is obviously not good for a web host!

How can we sell a service thats effectively branded by our supplier? Whats more, the prices Eukhost charge for shared and reseller accounts is too low to compete with.

So we're looking for a new, UK based host that can provide a completely white labelled service.

Is There Anything Like A CDN For Dynamic Content

Apr 13, 2009

Is there anything that takes the concept of a CDN (localised content delivery), but applies it to dynamic stuff like PHP and databases, syncing across worldwide servers as necessary? It'd be nice to deliver the entire site in a localised manner.

I'd imagine Google does something like this for their own sites, and maybe other large companies too — but I have no idea if such a technology exists in the consumer space.

I can see it being a logistical nightmare having to keep all versions of the database in sync, so it wouldn't surprise me if nothing like this exists.

Building My Own Box

Mar 24, 2008

I've been running a niche hosting business (one man show) for about 6 months now and so far I've learnt the basics of the hosting business. In fact I'm quite successful too, with good profits right from the first month. I know a bit of server admin and manage my own servers.

However, now I plan to start general shared hosting business and have decided to own my hardware and colocate it at a DC. (I'm not located in the US; the DC owner is my friend and would receive the hardware and set it up for me.)

The box would cater to general shared webhosting needs with cPanel (I don't like it but the market does )

Here's what I'm planning to go for...please put in your valuable inputs.

$300 for 1x SUPERMICRO MBD-X7DCL-I ATX Mainboard
$380 for 2x Kingston 4GB(2x2GB) KVR667D2D4F5K2/4G RAM
$475 for 2x Intel Xeon E5405 Harpertown Quad Core 2Ghz.
$240 for 2x WD Caviar RE2 WD5001ABYS 500GB SATA2 HDD
$250 for 1x Supermicro CSE-811T-420B 1U Chassis

100Mbps port, CentOS 5.latest 64bit, cPanel.

So, to sum up... 8x2Ghz CPU, 8GB RAM, 500GB SATA RAID system to start with.

I'm open to all suggestions and would appreciate valuable advice etc. from experienced people. I'd like to ensure full hardware/software compatibility and maximum stability.

Apache 1.3 For One Site, Two Cgi-bin Folders

Jul 12, 2007

my server has just one site, apache conf has such a line:

Code:
ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ "/usr/local/apache/htdocs/cgi-bin/"
and

Code:
<Directory "usr/local/apache/htdocs/cgi-bin">
AllowOverride None
Options None
Order allow,deny
Allow from all
</Directory>
then, my cgi script may run well under the said folder,

/usr/local/apache/htdocs/cgi-bin

but I have another script need to be setup another cgi-bin under its own folder below htdocs folder, like,

/usr/local/apache/htdocs/anotherscript/cgi-bin

however, when I run the said script in browser:

Code:
http://www.mydomain.com/anotherscript/cgi-bin/abc.cgi
the browser just shows source codes, instead of running it. I am guessing something wrong in httpd.conf,

may I know how to set apache httpd.conf to meet my requirement?
