Any other companies like FDC with 100mbit shared unmetered bandwidth?
I need a shared 100mbit unmetered bandwidth server like FDC.
But i am looking for a better company that offers management aswell.
My price range is $200/month where FDC fits in.

My friend asked me earlier if I knew any places in EU that allow IRC, have Unmetered 100Mbit (SHARED, not Dedicated), and allow torrents. I didn't know so I come to WHT for help.
The host must have:
Unmetered 100Mbit Shared
IRC Allow
Allow Torrents
DDoS Protection (not required, but is a bonus)
Must be in Europe
I'm unsure if asking this is allowed (since the host must allow torrents), if it isn't allowed please lock the thread.

I got a question about shared unmetered bandwidth offerings. Currently we specialise in Dedicated Unmetered bandwidth offers but also offer metered.
we see an increase in demand for shared unmetered, with some minor guarantees of troughput. Much in the style of FDC servers. We are toying with the idea, to add a shared unmetered service thats overbooked 1/4 (100 mbit) or 1/6 (gigabit).
The questions.
1.
Are these overbooking rates reasonable? it looks like other companies roughly have these overbooking factors.
2.
What kind of hardware should be bundle with such an offer? obviously its the bargain hunter category (no pun intended) that we would try to appeal to. Would that mean generally lower end servers like ATOMs?

what kind of incoming and outgoing bandwidth should i be able to consume from FDC?
Im getting about 60KB down and 500KB up.
further since i havent been able to hold the number of radio slots I used to I feel like something is not right, i seem to get normal ping and traceroute but noticed that an mtr router displays some sort of odd results, am I reading this correctly?
seems like there is always a couple of hosts with a ton of packet loss. how can i tell if there is some kind of problem here? the server worked great for 6 mos and now it just seems like it never has come back .......

Do the FDC 100Mbit Unmetered servers use shared bandwidth or dedicated bandwidth?
Because i was looking at softlayer and they charge $2,000/month for a 100Mbit uplink port, yet FDC have this for $159/month.
Is it because fdc's are using shared bandwidth?
Also, does FDC's 100Mbit servers mean you can use as much data as the port allows per month so you'll never be charged excess data?

Can someone give me a good list of providers like fdc, ovh, etc.
Bandwidth quality not much of an issue, quantity means more than quality to us, cogent only networks are even acceptable
We need more than one, as we need servers all over the world.
Edit: 100Mbit with unlimited or VERY high bandwith limits minimum.
Edit 2: Looking for something similar to fdc and ovh in price if possible. Going over 500/mo is pushing the budget on these, although specs do need to be taken into consideration.

I'm wondering what a good price is for a basic single CPU dual core server, 1GB RAM, 100mbit unmetered. I mean proper bandwidth on quality providers, not 100mbit shared with 50 other servers.
Interested to hear views on what a good price is for the UK.

dedicated server for my PHP/MySQL browser game. I've been working with CentOS 5/cPanel on my current server and I have no reason to change as it works very nicely. However I can only push 1500tb traffic per month with my current server and ideally I want to be able to push up to 5000-6000tb. Does anyone know of any reliable hosts with good uptime that provide high bandwidth packages such as FDCservers 100mbit Unmetered servers. I recently requested a custom quote from FDC but they never got back to me, would you recommend them?

I can stay for a long long time, and thus building a strong server by upgrading whenever I have the spare cash to do so. What I'm thinking is a service where it's possible to buy more HD space, RAM or CPU by paying a ONE TIME fee.
Other requirerments is:
- It must come with cpanel/whm
- CentOS or linux OS
- I would prefer if the server is managed, and unmetered.
The server should of course be used for everything from having image host, to downloading via bitorrent. Obviously I'm looking for a host who doesn't put their nose into my business.
Budget: 100-150$

I've got such a server with Ecatel:
PE R200 Dual Core Xeon 3065, 2.33GHz/4M 1333FSB
2GB 667MHz Dual Rank ECC Memory (2X1GB)
2 * 500GB SATA2 RAID1
CentOS
100 mbit shared (among 2 servers)
unmanaged
for 125 eur/mo
No need in higher CPU/RAM.
I'm not using 100mbit line but I also can't tell you how much bandwidth are we using (graphs don't work now). Seems like we are using a little bit less than 300 gb/day.
We are a Free Image Hosting - FunkyIMG.com
To make it clear, we do respect laws but we usually have problems with some people uploading some s**t to our server (for example, CP).
As I'm almost the only one man to maintain that server (I do sleep sometimes or even can go on vacation) - I would like to kindly ask my new ISP not to take my server/ip down asap, but to contact me. With LeaseWeb and Ecatel I've managed to wipe all CP in several hours after report (and they gave me much more than 1-15 mins) even if I was in abroad.
We were hosted by PoundHost/UK once - and the server was taken down without any notification.. With other hosters everything is ok - even if I receive ~2 CP abuses a week.
So, suggest me a EU (I think NL, not UK) company with not very expensive shared 100mbit line and friendly people
Can I find something better than:
Quote:
HP DL120G5
Intel E2160
2GB RAM
2x250GB HDD
100mbit guaranteed unmetered dedicated port
Monthly 139 Euro
HP DL120G5
Intel E2160
4GB RAM
2x500GB HDD
100mbit guaranteed unmetered dedicated port
Monthly 159 Euro

I was looking at a VPS plan that offered unmetered bandwidth on a shared 100mbit/s port. I thought it was a bit suspicious because it was at a very low price--but would this be what it means?
100mbit/s converts to 0.125 megabytes per second
= 7.5mb/min
= 450mb/hour
= 10,800mb/day
~ 334,800mb/month
= 334.8gb/month
Would that mean that I would be getting less than 334.8gb of bandwidth a month, but it's just filtered through to make sure I don't go over?

What are the advantages and disadvantages to buy unmetered or fixed bandwidth dedicated?
For burstnet unmetered does it guarantee to have some good bandwidth or it can be very very slow at peak times?
I can find about the same price almost 2TB/month or 10mbps unmetered.

i finally ordered my first dedicated server -previously i had a vps. I ordered at theplanet.com an unmetered 10 mbps - dedicated server but i am now confused, about how much bandwidth 10 mbps really represent?
10 mbps = 3.300 gigas?
20 mbps = means how many gigas?
and the 100 mbps = means how many gigas?
I have a alexa 12.000 site with adult videos that is getting more and more traffic, thats why i decided to get unmetered but stupidly i thought 10 mbps was a lot of more than only 3.3 teras : ( so 20 and 100 mbps means how many gigas?
I am going to pay at ThePlanet for this 10 mbps unmetered connection $200 plus $ 109 for the server pentium 4 512 ram.

BurstNET or FDCServers for unmetered bandwidth?
BurstNET or FDCServers for unmetered bandwidth?
I'm talking about the 100mbit shared bandwidth, who would you reccomend for this fdc or burstnet?
Also do you have any other solutions for cheap bandwidth as I'm trying to open a file hosting website like rapidshare and I'm looking for the cheapest bandwidth.

I am hosting a few websites with my host, powweb.com (shared hosting). Now I am thinking to go for an adult xxx website, and my host is not ready to host an adult website with them, and thus, I am looking for a new host now.
Things are:
1. I have very little knowledge about server management, as till now my shared host was doing everything, so I may need a host who offers a completely managed hosting, including backups, security, etc (just as a shared host would do).
2. I need a host that allows extreme adult contents.
3. The site will be a new one, but I am planning to go for offline marketing and hoping that I will get a good amount of visitors. Also the site will offer online movies. Taking these things into consideration, I am thinking that I may need a host that offers unmetered bandwidth.
I would like to get some tips from you guys, and if any of you know a good host, thanks for letting me know as well.

Looking for a dedicated unmetered server to stream movies and audio for over 500 visitors a day. Anybody knows any place that is good?
Also, what kind of hardware specifications would be OK for me - in terms of speed and memory? And would we be OK with a 10mbit port or 100?
Would I survive on a dedicated server with a shared bandwidth?

Im running my own file host, and in the past few days its just blown up in traffic. I current have "Intel Core2Quad Q9650" package from Limetone. 3ghz Quad, 8GB Ram, 1TB HD, 10TB BW.
I need something that has either unmetered or 30TB+ bandwidth. It should be on 100mbps lines too.
The closest thing I have found are FDCnetworks

Has anyone done a benchmark of test files for multiple unmeetered hosts during peak hours?
I have a 100mbit server at ThePlanet i could use for benchmarking. I could write a simple benchmark program to record the time+speed of a list of shared bw test files.
I'll have it sample each host for 10sec every hour. With that we can make a speed/time graph for each host.
My server is in TX on a shared line but not unlimited BW.
It would be nice if we can get some benchmarks from other data centers.
Would this reflect actual speeds?

I tried to put as much as possible into the title
I've had asmallorange for like 6 years now, was great host but lately uptime seemed to suffer a bit. Searching for some new one to try.
Could You recommend a cheap less than $5/mo shared hosting?
What I need:
highest uptime available, 99.8 or above would be great
use more than 10 websites with them, addon domains feature.
bandwidth above 1 gig, maybe above 5, not sure.
support doesn't matter that much, cause I almost never ned to contact them, lol
another thing I'd prefer is to use company's details in WHOIS info - that's really kind of important. Don't like Godaddy's $10 service. Just don't want to pay.

when you are going to own racks in a data center and it's time to get an amount of bandwidth,Data center offered three choices (commited bandwidth - dedicated bandwidth - shared bandwidth).
i need help from every one here to show me the difference and give me more info about its prices, benefits and the suitable amount in MB.
I used to buy dedicated bandwidth in Europe data centers but the sitiuation is different in USA as the dedicated is more expensive.

I'm getting a pretty competitive quote from FDC-Servers with a 100mbit (shared) unmetered port - They believe I can expect 15-20TB UP and 30TB Down.
Do you guys have any objections, thoughts, ideas? Or any reviews about FDC-Servers network?
