Analog Stats Failed Referral Reports
Nov 8, 2007
small query about Analog stats for which I can't find the answer anywhere.
A customer has asked why on the 'Failed referral reports' it is showing various URLs that do exist. From Analogs website they describe it as basically a missing link report. These links are not missing so how come it's still reporting them, could they be false positives?
The only thing I can think of is that perhaps when somebody clicks on the web page but then very quickly cancels the request by clicking another link or the stop button.

I look after a number of sites and monitor their stats. We use both webalizer and AWSTATS so we can have a comparison. Up until recently the stats for both of them where relatively the same, webalizer usually showing higher numbers as it doesn't filter bots but the progression of increase and decrease in stats was proportional. However, over the last few months a curious trend is appearing, the stats in AWSTATS are decreasing every month whereas the stats in Webalizer are increasing, the gap between them now is huge.

I've always used Awstats on my LAMP servers, because it's server side and gives easy to read and powerful web statistics.
I wonder is there any similar easy to install and powerful server side web statistics software for IIS 7?

I'm trying to control download access in a particular directory. I don't want to hide the directory behind a password.
What I am looking to do is to permit access to the files to people who have clicked on my download link only (referrer). Direct links, and hot links to be denied.
I can disable hot linking easily enough via .htaccess. But I'm not savy enough to pull off referral only access.

I currently host a few sites for small businesses and teachers on my multi-addon shared account. However, I know some companies will provide free hosting or some other deals such as free months or credit or money for referring clients. What are some of these companies that do this?

I have some small colo in an a DC that I have actual transfer basis on each server. Now they give me MRTG graphs and they say they go by what the switch reports for when they bill me. I haven't had an issue until this month when one of my servers which I only have one TB with was reported using 1372GB on their switch.
Now on my MRTG graphs it reported the monthly graph as the following:
Average In: 2360.8 kb/s (2.4%) 763.855996 GB
Average Out: 471.7 kb/s (0.5%) 152.6205485 GB
This reports under 1TB, so I thought that I was okay on my usage. Am I wrong in thinking that the average usage and actual usage should be very similar? I figured since MRTG takes how much you transfer every 5 minutes and averages that over 300 seconds to find the rate that it would report basically the same average usage as my actual usage.

I host a website for a customer that performs accounting functions for a variety of clients and produces daily/weekly reports for these clients. He wants to be able to provide a link on his website with the customer number and password for customers to be able to access their reports but doesn't want anyone else to be able to access these reports. What is the best method for doing this and can anyone point me to sample code.
He writes the reports with his software then prints them as a PDF file and sends them to www.hisdomain.com/reports and this is where the customer picks them up from.

How can i prevent error 302 in my site? for example, this [URL] .... is showing a status 200
But this same [URL] .... is showing me a status 302 (note the lack of forward slash)
Every folder in my site is showing this 302 error, so i tried to do a redirect in order to fix this, but its not working.
I think its the htaccess doing this kind of redirects in my hole site but I am new to this file, so i dont know how to fix this. Rules in my htaccess are here:
(I cant write into htaccess, but I can see the content of the file)...
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} .
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www.saludymedicinas.com.mx [NC]
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.saludymedicinas.com.mx/$1 [R=301,L]

In plesk9 my customers had the option to send daily usage reports by e-mail. Only certain clients like this option. Using plesk11 I cannot find this option if I log in as a client. Has this feature been removed? And if so, can the administrator enable this option only for 1 or 2 clients?

Below are some results from various stats programs from one day's activity on our site. webaliser and awstats give sort of similar results (although still 6400 pageloads difference), but these results differ so much from what google (analytics) says.
can anyone think of an explanation for this? does google have a different definition of a visit compared to webaliser and awstats? for these latter two is visits = hits?
Webaliser 4000 visits, 17600 page views. Aw stats says 3800 visits, 24000 page views. google says 637, 1500 page views. adsense says 3,600 page views.

does anybody know if there is a possibility to circumvent godaddy´s pathetic stats they offer on shared accounts?
-I am not quite sure what tells you the unique visitors (always a good one to know )
-It doesn´t tell you what robots crawl your site. It just says: robots 28 (great!)
-The graphs are all reversed. Meaning that the now date is always on the very left hand corner of the x-axis towards the 0 intersection. This is pretty pathetic as it goes against anything human brains are accustomed to.
I´ve got to stop venting now. I would appreciate if somebody knows where I can find the unique visitors (hosts served maybe?) and how I can install a better stats program on Linux shared hosting at go daddy.

When I go through my AWStats under "Links from an external page (other web sites except search engines)" I see several domains that have linked to me. When I visit these sites they are generally porn and drug sites that do not contain a link. Some of the sites redirect you to other sites. When you look up these domain names they are all from Russia.
These sites account for mulitple hits as high as +14.5%. These sites do not represent the content on my sites.
My questions are.
How do I stop this? I have found banning IP addresses does nothing.
How are they doing this?
Can this lead to your site being blacklisted?

Recently started using HAProxy for load balancing / failover, and have the usage down. But, no matter how much I search I can't find one simple thing...
Anyone know of a way to customize the status page?
Seems to be a directive actually in the binary...I can't find a conf, include, anything to pass any customization to it. I'm talking about the /haproxy?stats URI.

I've a few similar video sites and haven't noticed much difference over the years with their stats. They usually average anywhere from 50-100mb downloaded per day.
Suddenly this month, one site is practically going off the scale...600-700mb...up to 1gb downloaded per day...I'm like...wtf?! The other site is reporting normal BW.
I'm using awstats with hotlink protection enabled.
Is something or someone draining my bandwidth?

I have always had a US based shared hosting service for my sites, but I'm about to move to a VPS and am not sure where to shop.
My unique visitor stats per continent, for my main site, for the last month, are:
Europe 24,889
Americas 16,002
Asia 1,446
Oceania 609
Africa 208
Is a Europe based VPS a no-brainer with these stats? Does it really make a difference?

I thought i may as well post this here having already contacted my host. Just thought you knowledgable people may be able to give me some insight to this?
Well i am creating a sub-domain, and i obviously have site stats with AWStats for my primary domain name. If i was to create a sub-domain say example.sitename.com would i still receive the site stats for the sub as well as the primary one?
Anyone had any experience on this?
as midphase are good but generally take ages to get back to me and their response are rather general,
