Info To Transfer Domain Out Of IX Hosting

Jun 26, 2008

Summary on Issue I have with IX Hosting

I am disappointed on the option provide to me by IX webhosting to resolved my issue.

Summary:

1. My hosting and domain was handle by a previous staff which is charge to a CC belong to that staff.
2. The staff was fired and he filled a chargeback with his CC without me knowing it on the hosting.
3. Account was then suspended and there isn't anything that I can do about it.

Option left for me:
1. Nothing that IX webhosting is able to do beside asking me to recontact my ex staff to contact his bank which is not possible (the case was closed by the bank according to my ex staff when i was able to contact him).

2. Spending another 1 - 2 year time to rebuilt another website to bring in traffic since the url and hosting are frozen by IX webhosting.

3. Filled a complain to complain board and point this problem out to public where an admin or account making payment for URL and hosting can screwed up the company at any one point while hosting with IX webhosting.

CAC/Smartcard User Info Not Accepted, Must Use Domain Usr/pwd Instead For SSL Site

Sep 9, 2009

Having an issue with random individuals trying to access an intranet site with a security certificate. Most users are able to simply select their Smartcard/CAC certificate, enter the pin number and then are granted access to the site's pages.

However, random individuals enter their pin and then are immediately re-prompted by the IE alert dialogue to enter their domain username and password. If they don't enter their network domain username and MS password, then they receive a 401.1 Unauthorized.

I am confused as to why these certain users (who are selecting the same certificates as the successful ones) are being prompted for their domain name/pwd. Furthermore, they're able to access other sites which require a CAC to get past the security certificate.

Possible that a user token is unable to be established via a CAC for the particular site, but not sure why. Since these users are getting a 401.1, then somehow their identity associated with their CAC credentials is not validating.

In IIS: Anonymous users are not allowed (unchecked). 128-bit encryption is required with SSL. Integrated Windows Authentication is checked. Accepting client certificates In the site's web.config file all users are allowed and only anonymous are denied.

Developed in asp.net 3.5

We have tried to reproduce the problem in testing and development environments, but have fortunately/unfortunately been unable to duplicate this issue. This furthermore eludes to an issue that might be isolated to the production server, users access to it, and/or the certificate that is applied to that SSL website on that server.

The exact same setup is present on the development box without any issues at all, indicating to me that the problem resides on the production server's ability to properly receive/handle CAC information from those individuals or that something funky is going on with the way the security certificate is relating to the client's CAC x.509 certificate.

A little more information that may be of use: the browser prompt that initially asks for the CAC has nothing to do with the code of the site, but rather is enabled by applying the security certificate to a site in IIS; thus indicating to me that there is something written into the certificate that looks for client certificates tied to the ActivClient agent via the browser?

The violating users' cards work on all other applications and even on SSL sites on other servers that bring up a CAC prompt. I believe we have confirmed that the certificates associated with their cards and their IE browsers are valid through 2015 (or longer in some cases), and are the same in nature (x509 certificate from the card)... and issuer is being consistently selected as DOD Email CA-15 (though the regular DOD CA-15 works as well). Again, maybe something with the fact that it's isolated to one production server, something with the SSL cert. on that url or user access?

Then again, I probably have no idea what i'm talking about, just throwing a bone here to see if anyone has had the same issue or has any ideas.

Is It Possible That A Web Hosting Company May Abuse Your CC Info

Feb 16, 2007

As known, we should provide our credit card information to pay hosting costs.. two questions arise here...

1) What stops a hosting company from stealing or abusing your personal information?

2) What if I want to pay hosting invoices month by month (manually), is it possible and what should I do to go this way?

What Is Domain Transfer?

May 30, 2008

What does the concept of transferring a domain mean? I am asking all this because I have seen that freehostia has a service called: Domain transfer. It seems that it cost 9.95$. Then I would like to know what is the purpose of this domain transfer. I just thought that this domain transfer was the service provided for those who wanted to host a site in freehostia but had registered their domain with another company instead of with freehostia. What do you think about this?

Well, I have seen this choice of transfering a domain in another site called: http://www.bluereef.net/support/serverbasics/dns.html

So, could you help me understand the purpose and use of the service called transfering a domain that these two hosting providers mentioned above have?

How Do I Transfer The Domain

Jan 11, 2009

so this has been a drug out longer process than I realized it would be. I've never sold a website and I figured this would be a quick two-button process.

I asked Host Gator what I needed to do and they told me to register the domain at Enom and then they would send me the EPP code. Well, I registered with Enom, sent them proof it was really me, and they told me I could view the EPP code on Enomcentral

Well, I had contacted Enom and they told me that I had to ask Host Gator for help as they were responsible for helping clients with these types of issues. So, I contacted Host Gator and they referred me back to Enom... this is kind of pissing me off. My customer bought the website and domain and I've made an entire backup of the directory and he has that but the only thing left is to transfer the domain name to his preferred choice "Freeparking.com" and I just want to know how to do that.

I noticed now the domain is under hostgator domains and all I need is the EPP code. Has anyone ever had to transfer a domain through Enomcentral and how in the holy hell do you find the EPP code?

Can't Transfer Domain Name

Feb 6, 2009

So I went onto 1and1 to register my domain name. I went into the account today to cancel and have it transferred over to my host that I selected today. I recieve this email from my new host:

We have received your domain transfer order for xxx***********, however we haven't processed your order yet since we noticed that the domain status currently shows:

status: CLIENT-TRANSFER-PROHIBITED

It is likely because you registered the domain name recently. As per ICANN guidelines, a domain can be transferred 60 days after registering only. You can confirm the reason by checking it with your current domain registrar. We request you to re-submit the domain transfer order after that.

**So the other day when folks were telling me to buy a domain name from a cheap place no one said I would be stuck for 60 days. And when I spoke to 1and1 today they never said it would not transfer either..

How To Do Domain Name Transfer

Jan 21, 2008

I have domain name registered with GoDaddy and I check my domain name emails via GoDaddy. I want to signup with Hostmonster and do a domain name transfer to HostMonster so that both email, domain name, and hosting is handled by Hostmonster.

What are the exact steps to take to ensure that my email service is up all times (and not down during the 72 hours it takes for domain name transfers)?

I'm not sure when and where to point the nameservers. And when to setup the domain email on Hostmonster.

What Domain Transfer Exactly Mean?

Jun 10, 2008

I thought transferring was simply assigning your domain to a different host. But apparently transferring is when you want to use a different domain registrar for your domain.

So what would be the term for simply assigning a host to a domain? And do registrars or hosts usually charge for this?

What Happens W/a Domain Transfer

Nov 9, 2008

First let me say how glad I am to have found this forum (I just wish I found it sooner!) I have posted a few times this week here, and am learning so much! And I have oh-so-many questions, so please bear with me

A little history.....I was w/freewebs for a few years as a free member, and recently I completely jumped to a premium member, without doing research (I didn't know any better at the time, but believe me I've learned my lesson)

I bought (2) domain names the beginning of this month (Oct 9th). I read something about a 60 day wait before transfers can be done. I also paid for the full year on both names (I do have a ticket in w/freewebs for the auth code....another member of this forum gave me phone#'s if I have trouble getting the auth#)

If I am not able to obtain the auth# from freewebs, I still want to move forward w/signing on with gatorhost....I was thinking of changing only one letter of my domain name.

But if I do end up being able to transfer my domain name from freewebs to gatorhost, would I be able to create a whole new website with gatorhost under that domain name? My current domain/website is www.aphaperformancehorses.com, but if I'm able to change that to gatorhost, what happens when people type in that address? Will they end up being directed to my freewebs site? And what happens to my freewebs site, do I need to delete it?

Or should, for now, I just cough it up to "a lesson learned

Domain Transfer

Sep 20, 2007

I've finally had enough and am done with ipowerweb. I wonder what their % uptime would be once you factor in that if you have a message board that goes down at least once a day.

Can anyone tell me what the transfer process is once I've found a new host? What do I have to do on my part? I assume back up my site. How long does it take, etc.?

I looked at quite a few hosting companies, but I found out .co.uk domains can only be transferred by EU companies.

The sites aren't too big, but I would require PHP, MySQL (ideally unlimited databases), emails, etc.

How To Transfer A Domain After Registrar Disappears

What is the process for transferring a domain name after the registrar vanishes?

Email/ Hosting Transfer

Apr 27, 2009

I have watched the screencast on domains etc and I sort of get it, but I have a website for a client that already has email and a server and things but I have to transfer it. basicly the site is hosted on the old developers server and the email is on one of my clients just as an email host(eclipse). so I need to make the domain point to a new server and the email to point from that sever to eclipse without any disruption to the website and especially the email. because I can't afford to make any mistake on this I am asking for the best way to do this.

Do I just change the records on the domain(123reg) and the new server so that it all points to the new server then find the email records(MX or A, can't remember) and get the email server pointing to there after? where do I find these records? and will it cause disruption to the email because of routers and stuff updating as said in the screecast or is that just for new domains?

Dedicated Hosting Offers - Transfer Value

I have been looking at the offers in the Web Hosting Talk->Advertising Forums->Web Hosting Offers->Dedicated Hosting Offers forum and I cannot find any explanation for the transfer value.

When an advertiser says 10Tb Transfer (ignore case, as I've seen an advert where it is 10TB in the subject and 10Tb in the body)

Anyway, my question, is the 10Tb in bits or bytes (cannot determine from the case, already established inconsistencies here)

Also, over what period of time is the 10T bits/bytes, E.G. is is that amount of data per day, week, month, year etc.

Cheap High Transfer/bandwidth Hosting

I know you get what you pay for with hosting, but with the ridiculous overselling going on I am finding it hard to work out how much bandwidth I can genuinely expect to get with about 500MB space and 99%+ (preferably more like 99.5%) uptime for $5/month.

I will be using all this bandwidth for hosting legal mp3s (sanctioned for promotional use by labels and artists), and would prefer the host to be based in the US or UK.

Transfer Hosting To New Server - Disabling Apache ASP Support

May 5, 2015

I'm working on transferring my Hostings to a new server, but ran into some problems.

Transferring the data from one Plesk 12 server to another works quite well using the migration manager, although you have to create the service plans by hand as well as you need to work through the server configuration parameters.

After re-creating the service plans I wanted to link and sync them to the subscriptions, but unfortunately I have no success to do so, because everytime I try to get them in sync, it tells me that Apache ASP support is enabled for the subscription and needs to be disabled. Plesk then tells me, the setting is disabled, but next time you try to sync the subscription... ASP is back enabled.

Problem is that on the old server I had Apache ASP enabled and used it in my hostings.

I tried to solve the problem using the command line tools, but "./subscription -u domain.name -asp false" returns "SUCCESS: Update of domain 'domain.name' completed.", but you can guess, same problem.

As a last resort I disabled Apache ASP support for my hostings on the old server, deleted everything on the new one and I got no warnings before migrating about the missing ASP feature.

But unfortunately this procedure ended up with the same problem as before.

Is there a way to remove the ASP support from the existing subscriptions?
